Peachdapple had padded out of her den at the commotion she heard in camp. She was a bit frazzled, the visions she had at the Moonstone still swirling in her mind. Even so, the massive she-cat noticed Willowsong approaching with what looked like two apprentice-aged cats she had never seen before. She blinked curiously, but merely waited for them to approach with a kind demeanor.

Lightningstar shook his head in response to Ghostscreech. “I’ll eat once the clan has eaten.” He spoke. “You should eat though, it’s a long trek to the twolegplace and back.”

Sneaky mid shift post lol)
Willowsong nodded to Peachdapple as she led Mist and Pebble over to the medicine cat. “Hello Peachdapple, this is Mist and Pebble. Lightningstar would like you to check them over. They’ve had a long day of traveling from the twoleg place and they have been alone for quite some time out there.”

"It's nice to meet you," Pebble said, tail flicking through the air.
"Thank you for having us," Mist agreed with her quieter tone.

"Got it." Hollowpaw said, waiting for Scarletpaw to finish moving the pinecone for her. She flicked her ear, glad that she seemed to have found a friend in the apprentice den for once. Hollowpaw hadn't taken Scarletpaw for the friendly type, but she was glad that the other apprentice wasn't acting like Hollowpaw couldn't perform simple tasks. "Did you move it?" she asked after a moment, ready to start searching for the pinecone.
"Why shouldn't you have an opinion about Sunningrocks?" Forestblaze asked, looking at Frostmoon in surprise. "It was your patrol that had to defend it! It's not your fault that RiverClan had you outnumbered." He added, lashing his tail. Forestblaze looked back over at where Ghostscreech and Lightningstar were talking. "I don't get why we have to hunt in the Twoleggedplace when we could take back Sunningrocks, which belongs to ThunderClan in the first place." He lashed his tail again in annoyance and turned back to Frostmoon. Forestblaze enjoyed talking with Frostmoon despite her reserved nature, he found himself talking with her more almost everyday now and couldn't help but feel a stab of jealousy every time he saw her looking at the ThunderClan deputy.
Ghostscreech flicked his ear, looking back at the fresh-kill pile. It looked fuller then it had since before the fire, but he knew that it wouldn't last long, and he didn't want Lightningstar to go without prey. "How about we share something? Willowsong managed to catch a decent sized squirrel. It would be enough for the both of us." He suggested, turning back to Lightningstar.

Lightningstar knew Ghostscreech wouldn’t leave him along until he agreed. “Very well. As long as the queens and elders have been fed first.” He nodded his head.

"You've brought quite the polite bunch here." Peachdapple mused with a warm chuckle, turning to look at Mist and Pebble with a clinical and careful inspection of her eyes. She nodded once, padding towards Mist first and mewing conversationally. "I can tell that you both are a bit malnourished. Which, is going to happen during leafbare... but you smell strongly of Twolegplace. I'm guessing neither of you are kittypets then, and you are young... I imagine you two have had to spend this entire leafbare fending for yourselves." She tutted with an almost motherly tone.
"My name's Peachdapple, by the way, dears. Though I'm sure you already know that. You'll meet my apprentice as well, Aspenfall. He is a brilliant medicine cat, so you will be in good paws." She ran her paw gently along Mist and Pebble's flanks, checking for any bumps, bulges or injuries. She noticed their paws and she mewed. "I can tell your paws are sore. I have dock leaves for them, it will soothe the soreness." She explained.
---
"Yep. It's moved." Scarletpaw called, but only after she had padded back to Yellowpaw's side and stood next to the tom. She watched Hollowpaw carefully, nodding. "Go ahead and track it, and see if you can land your paws right on it when you pounce. I'll help you from there, though I doubt you'll need too much help."
Frostmoon was a bit surprised by the intensity of Forestblaze's response, yet the part of her that was wallowing in misery since the battle was a bit soothed by his assurance. Admittedly, she herself had been unsure about the hunting in Twolegplace, especially when she knew Ghostscreech would probably be going multiple times. The thought of losing him or him being hurt by twolegs or rouges always rang in her ears. She inwardly agreed, Thunderclan should take back Sunningrocks, surely Riverclan did not need them, based on how plump the entire patrol was when they were in camp. She found herself relieved that at least someone agreed with her.
"Hey, uh. Forestblaze?" She asked, still finding it hard to be social, even when she was growing more comfortable with seeing him as a friend. "Do you want to join me today, when I take Patchpaw training? That's to say, I think we could have better demonstrations for Patchpaw with two of us instead of just me..." She asked awkwardly. "I think getting some air would be nice."

"Our mother used to use dock leaves to soothe nettle stings," Pebble mewed. Beyond his paws, there were no injuries or pains to be found-- something very fortunate for him.
"How can you remember that?" Mist asked. She had a torn claw and a few light bruises, but nothing more-- given that she was the only one of the two that could hunt, it was truly a blessing it hadn't been worse. She was more slender than her brother, but she made up for it with stronger muscles that were starting to be well-toned.

Ghostscreech gave his former mentor a light smile, standing up and approaching the fresh-kill pile. "Let's get some of this prey to the queens and elders." he said to the surrounding warriors and apprentices, "Once that's done, we can all get something to eat as well. The dawn hunting patrol should get some rest as well, I don't want them to be late meeting SkyClan just because they overslept." Ghostscreech added, nodding to his father. Shardfury would be leading the next patrol along with Silverfox, Hornetstrike and Lightningpaw.
--------
Hollowpaw turned her head as she scented the air, searching for the distinct scent of the pinecone. She paused when she was facing the small clearing that Scarletpaw had chosen to hide the pinecone. Standing up, Hollowpaw dropped into her hunter's crouch, sliding her paws like before. If she was going to practice her tracking and pinpointing, she might as well work on her form too. She stopped when she was a tail-length away from the pinecone, trying to pinpoint it's exact location.
Forestblaze blinked in surprise, "Really? Sure, I'd like to join you." He mewed, giving her a smile, "How is training an apprentice? I've only just been made a warrior recently, so I doubt I'll be getting an apprentice any time soon." Forestblaze said.

She hid the thought away for now, instead looking at Mist's paw and admitting. "We'll have to get this cleaned up, and I'll get a polituce on it. Come with me in my den, both of you." She invited, her voice calm and light.

It was nice to see her advice working. Mentoring in the future would be a breeze! She urged in her mind, 'try the pounce, now!'Frostmoon was greatly relieved that he had said yes, the stress of socializing even now making her paws feel like stone again. Even so, she hoped she was getting better at this. Maybe Forestblaze would see her as a friend, if she played her paws right. She admitted. "Well. I'm a pretty new Warrior myself, I'm still surprised Lightningstar gave me an apprentice after the Sunningrocks patrol... but I have to assume I can best prove myself by being a good mentor to Patchpaw. He's um... well, he's very energetic, I'm pretty much his opposite, but it's actually pretty rewarding to see him get stronger and more skilled." Frostmoon stood up, looking around quickly for the bright tom. ( Foxstar26 i summon thee XD )

Patchpaw was playing with a moss ball. The Tom still having his kit energy. He crouched down, practicing his hunters crouch and slowly sneaking up on it.
Lightningstar followed after the deputy. He loved to grab a rat and a blackbird from the pile. Then turning to head to the nursery. He said a quick greeting and dropped the prey off before returning to Ghostscreech.

"It's one thing I remember about her the most-- she almost always smelled of dock and nettles." "Maybe to you, but to me she smelled like a cat," his sister replied grumpily. Pebble purred, apparently amused. "Always so vague with your descriptions."

She felt that knowing feeling she had spent moons mastering, knowing when Starclan was working in its ways. Looking at Pebble, she had a feeling this was Starclan’s way. She continued though, pushing the knowing feeling away. “We also decipher messages sent to us from our ancestors, in Starclan. Starclan is where Clan cats place our faith, up there.” She pointed her tail up towards the sky. “At night, when we see stars, those are our ancestors in Starclan. Aspenfall and I can receive them, and we can feel their presence as well. Medicine cats follow a strict code of our own.”

How?" Mist wondered the same thing. From what the two warriors had said, Lightningstar had met with the StarClan cats, but she couldn't recall if they'd said when or how. Would Peachdapple or Aspenfall-- whoever that was-- have the same privilege one day? No, that couldn't be it-- Ghostscreech was supposed to receive nine lives next, that's what Willowsong had told them.

I’m sure this is all rather confusing for you, but if you do choose to stay here, you will surely learn plenty more.”

She would apply the dock to both cats afterwards, and a thin wrap of cobwebs for Mist’s paw.

Ghostscreech bent down and took a bite of the squirrel, his mouth watering at the taste of it. He looked up when Lightningstar spoke, swallowing his bite of prey and sitting back up after he nudged it back over to Lightningstar. He felt his pelt warm at his former mentor’s praise feeling like he was still an apprentice trying to impress his mentor. “Lightningstar, I… I was wondering. When Sunthroat stepped down as deputy, why did you pick me?” He asked looking down at his paws, “Out of all the experienced warriors in the Clan, you chose me. Not that I’m ungrateful for this position! It took some time to get used to, but I’ve enjoyed being your deputy. I’m just wondering why you felt that I deserved this role?” Ghostscreech hurried to explain, flicking his ear.

Lightningstar moved to take another bite of the prey, clearly thinking over his next words. “I choose you for many reasons.” He started. “Your youth for starters.” He spoke. “My time as leader is drawing to a close. My generation is getting old and I felt like someone young who could lead a new generation of cats would be a good fit.” He spoke. “I knew more then likely my next deputy would take over when I die so that was important to me.” He looked at Ghostscreech. “You we’re doing an excellent job with Swallowcry. You were a patient and kind mentor to her.” He spoke. “I wanted the next leader of Thunderclan to embody what I feel like are Thunderclan’s greatest strengths.” Lightningstar continued. “Someone who is fair and patient but Unafraid of protecting the clan.” He closed his eyes to think a moment. “Someone who would help a cat in need, even if that cat was outside of our borders.” He opened his eyes to look back at his former apprentice. “Thrushwing told me of your leadership skills while I was exiled. That coupled with how you handled today has just reassured my choice.”

Hollowpaw waited until Scarletpaw had finished moving around before she scented the air again. This time it took her a little bit to find the pinecone, the scent of the grass covering it a bit. Eventually, she managed to pinpoint its general location and dropped into another crouch, stalking towards it. She was almost in front of it, standing more to the right than the center.

Ghostscreech listened as Lightningstar explained his reasoning, feeling a sense of panic when he spoke of his time as leader coming to an end. He wasn’t ready to see Lightningstar join StarClan’s ranks just yet. He wasn’t ready to become… Ghostscreech couldn’t finish the thought, instead he distracted himself by taking another bite of squirrel as he tried to sort through his thoughts. After a moment of silence, he looked back at Lightningstar, “I don’t think I’m ready for this responsibility. I’m not… ready to lose you yet.” He said quietly. Ghostscreech would never have admitted this to anyone else, not even Frostmoon, who he had grown so close to. Although recently they had seemed to drift apart, so he doubted he would have been able to bring himself to tell her of his insecurities about becoming the next leader of ThunderClan.
