Willowsong purred, very pleased that she had been chosen for the first patrol. "Of course Ghostscreech, I look forward to joining you." She dipped her head to the deputy before joining the patrol at the camp entrance.

Ghostscreech gave Willowsong a nod of thanks before moving on to inform the next twolegplace patrol. After he had found his father and told him who he wanted on the next patrol, he hurried to meet his patrol at the camp entrance. “Alright, let’s be on our way. And hurry, we’re late enough as it is.” He mewed, pushing out of the camp entrance and turning towards the SkyClan border.

Hollowpaw sighed, laying outside the apprentice’s den. She had finished the chores Silentflare had given her and was now bored, wondering if she could find Sootpaw or Patchpaw and see if they would want to practice some battle moves with her. She was tired of learning the basics from Silentflare, she was ready for more battle training and practicing the moves Wrenflight had taught her when she was asleep were a bit more difficult when she couldn’t see.

"Sure, and hedgehogs fly." Scarletpaw scoffed as she padded past Yellowpaw and Robinpaw, still sore and angry that Tigerpaw got to go to Twolegplace first, and that Dawnpaw was out on a special patrol to look for the source of the odd scent. She huffed. "Some of us clearly aren't special enough to be picked. I bet we'll be stuck doing all the chores instead." She muttered. 

"Oh, I plan on becoming a fantastic Warrior, thank you very much. Good thing to know that you seem to want the same, I would hope." Scarletpaw retorted sharply to Robinpaw, though her eyes flicked over to Yellowpaw and she added. "I bet we'll be picking ticks off the elders before the ticks even start coming out! We may as well start getting the mouse-bile now. If there were any mice to hunt." She muttered, looking over at the meager prey pile. All she had managed to bring back from her last hunt with Southmist was a stringy vole, and she had hunted nearly all day!

Darktail awoke with a start, accidentally kicking Midnighstream in their nest. His shoulder was bleeding from several scratches and the tom himself trembled as adrenaline and fear rushed through him.

Midnightstream gasped and bolted awake at the kick, looking around wildly before her eyes caught sight of Darktail. He looked absolutely terrified! Calming her own heart, she whispered quickly to him. “Hey! Hey now, are you alright? Starclan, you must have had a bad dream! Did something poke you in the nest?” She fretted, only to frown deeply when she notices the bleeding on his shoulder.

“Hey, it’s okay.” Midnightstream assured kindly, moving to try and look at his scratches with a concerned look. “I get bad dreams sometimes too. If you get some, you won’t be alone, I’ll be here.” She promised. “…Hm. Is there a thorn in the nest?” She fretted.

Leopardfrost sat outside the warriors den, grooming her fur after a hunting patrol. They hadn’t found much besides a couple of scrawny mice and a bird that was mostly feathers. She sighed, wondering how her brother’s hunting patrol in the twolegplace was going. Would they actually be able to find some decent prey there? She remembered the time she had spent there, but it had mostly been deeper into the city and not much time of it was spent in the outskirts of it.

Panthersight was sharing a squirrel with Jaytalon, telling him about the border patrol he had gone on the other day, “I swear, Scarletpaw acts like we’re arch rivals. I have no idea where she got that idea.” He grumbled, his tail flicking in annoyance. His brother laughed at Pantersight’s comment, giving him a nudge.

“Maybe she secretly likes you.” Jaytalon teased, finishing his half of the squirrel and licking his lips. “You always seem to have trouble with the she-cats.”

“Oh yeah? And what about you and Autumnfall? Or did she decide she prefers Wolfshadow over you?” Panthersight shot back at his brother, which caused the other one to stutter out a flustered reply.

“That’s not… well, I mean… Just shut up.” Jaytalon huffed, turning away indignantly while Panthersight chuckled.

Hollowpaw tilted her ears as she listened to the ongoing activity in the camp, wondering where Silentflare could be. He hadn’t taken her out to train yet, only telling her to change out nests in the elders den, which she had finished already. “I swear. If he makes me clean out more dens, I’m going to lose it.” She muttered to herself, wanting to learn new battle moves already. She had seen Wrenflight in her dreams again last night and he had shown her another move that had seemed impossible at first, but had eventually figured it out before she had woken up. But that didn’t mean she was instantly able to do it again once she couldn’t see again, it was harder without her eyesight. But she knew with enough practice, she could get it again. She just needed to train more.

Seeing Autumnfall approaching them, Panthersight gave his brother a nudge, “Well, nows your chance to figure it out. Autumnfall is heading this way.” He mewed.

Jaytalon huffed, rolling his eyes at Panthersight and turned his head towards him as he replied, “I’m not falling for that. You’re no good at making jo- Autumnfall!” He mewed in surprise, seeing the she-cat they had just been talking about.

Laughing, Panthersight stood up, nodding a greeting to Autumnfall, “I’ll leave you guys to talk.” He mewed, padding away from Jaytalon and Autumnfall. Panthersight sighed as he left, wondering what he should do now. It was fun teasing his brother, but he supposed he should see if there were any patrols that needed an extra warrior.

Jaytalon threw his brother an annoyed look as Panthersight walked away before looking back at Autumnfall, “O-oh, yeah, sure.” He mewed, the normally easygoing tom feeling nervous at the thought of a private conversation with Autumnfall. Was she going to tell him that she decided on Wolfshadow as her mate? He flicked his ear nervously as he followed after Autumnfall. Even if Autumnfall did decide that she wanted nothing to do with him, he just hoped it wouldn’t ruin the friendship Jaytalon had with Wolfshadow.

Jaytalon was confused at first as Autumnfall spoke, but came to an abrupt stop when she asked about his and Wolfshadow’s friendship, “W-what? More than friends?” He stammered, feeling his pelt warm at the question. Did he consider Wolfshadow as more than just a friend? If he was being honest with himself, he wasn’t sure if he thought of the other warrior in that way. “W-well, I know I consider him as my best friend… I’m not sure if I ever really considered as more than that.” He mewed, confused. This certainly wasn’t what he had expected when Autumnfall had asked to speak with him.

Jaytalon blinked in surprise when she admitted her feelings for him, his fur growing even more warm, “R-really? But I thought… what I mean is…” Jaytalon stuttered as he tried to get his scrambled thoughts together to form a coherent sentence that made any sense at all. He took a deep breath, steeling his nerves, “I mean, I feel the same for you. I have for a long time… But I had thought that you seemed to prefer Wolfshadow, you two always seem so close. And I didn’t want to ruin the friendship we all have together…” He finally said, ears flattening against his head. Would Wolfshadow be upset with them? The other warrior had never told Jaytalon what his feelings were for Autumnfall, but he had always assumed…

Jaytalon looked back at Autmnfall, feeling even more confused than before, “So.. you want to be my mate and Wolfshadow’s mate?” He asked, flicking his ear. Would Wolfshadow agree to something like that? “Wait, that’s allowed?” He added, remembering Autumnfall mentioning something about her mother saying that this was a normal think outside of the clans.

“I… I guess that’s true.” Jaytalon said, vaguely remembering hearing something like that at an old gathering. Truthfully, he never really paid close attention to the ongoings in the other clans. He was silent for a moment as he thought of the prospect of both him and Wolfshadow being Autumnfall’s mate. “Well… when you put that way… I honestly don’t think I have a problem with it. I know I care for Wolfshadow, but not in the way I care and feel for you, Autumnfall.” He admitted, turning his gaze to her.
