Diamondheart flicked his tail for his patrol to follow as Darktail finally began to lead them into the camp. Instantly, the deputy could recognize many of the warriors. His eyes instantly landed on those of Hornetstrike’s, the other tom rising quickly to his paws once the Riverclan patrol had come in. While Hornetstrike clearly wanted to greet him, he held back and remained silent. Diamondheart didn’t blame him.
“Riverclan?” Scarletpaw hissed, eyes narrowing as she snapped. “Why are there fish-faces in our camp?”
“Scarletpaw.” Thrushwing mewed sternly to his granddaughter at her blunt and loud comment, though the senior warrior did look at the incoming Riverclan patrol with a hint of suspicion.
Frostmoon felt her claws extend as she saw Diamondheart leading his patrol, the loss of Sunningrocks still a sore spot for her. She glowered at her uncle with a defensive bristle as she padded up next to her father.

Lightningstar stayed relaxed, not wanting to be openly hostile.. yet at least. This didn’t seem to be a battle patrol, being very out numbered. “Diamondheart!” The Thunderclan leader greeted, voice even but friendly. “Why have you come? I hope all is well in Riverclan?”

Tinypool padded into the camp, eyes sweeping their dens. Her gaze lingered on the meager fresh-kill pile and then even more so on Lightningstar. The Tom looked much older than she remembered. It had been many moons since she had stepped into this camp in the past, the fire had obviously destroyed a large chunk of it. She nodded towards the elders’ and senior warriors she recognized.
Darktail stood awkwardly at the camp entrance with the Riverclan patrol, waiting for either Midnightstream, Ghostscreech or Lightningstar to come back and talk with Diamondheart.
Blizzardstorm flattened his ears at the sight of the patrol, ushering his kits back in the nursery before standing guard at the entrance, the tom puffing his fur to make him look even larger.
Tansykit whined, wanting to look at the strangers closer.
Twilightkit let out a growl, yelling “Get out of our camp intruders!” Much to Blizzardstorm’s horror.
Shadowblossom gazed at the patrol curiously, returning Tinypool’s nod curtly. She wasn’t a fan of how close her son was to the patrol by himself.
Willowsong and Cloudysky moved towards the elder’s den cautiously, standing outside the entrance.
Nettlepatch hurried to stand beside his brother at the nursery. No way would he let Riverclan hurt his siblings’ kits.

Ghostscreech eyed the RiverClan patrol warily, but chose to follow Lightningstar’s example and not show any outward hostility towards them.
Lionkit huffed as he and his siblings were pushed back into the nursery, not wanting to go back in already.
Squirreltail swept her kits closer to her with her tail, bristling at the scent of RiverClan in their camp.
Hollowpaw sat outside the apprentice’s den, her mouth opening slightly to take in the new scents. Her nose wrinkled at the fishy scent of RiverClan, but it didn’t seem like they were planning on attacking them.

River:
Shellstream gazed around camp and took in the sight of the unfamiliar place. So this was where her father had lived for many moons when AdderClan took over... she supposed she should be as courteous as possible despite their everlasting rivalry. She looked around to see if there was anyone she recognized.
Thunder:
Aspenfall poked his head out of the medicine cat den as he heard the commotion. RiverClan? Are they having a shortage as well? he wondered, going to call for Peachdapple.
Nighteye kept calm and observed the patrol.
Plumfur pressed herself against Dapplenight while Magpiewing threw a harsh gaze at the RiverClan cats.
At the appearance of Diamondheart, Slatesight immediately looked over at Hornetstrike. It had been a while since the two brothers had seen each other. I wonder if the deputy will make time for them to talk.

River:
Diamondheart dipped his head to Lightningstar and Ghostscreech, recognizing the cries of the kits towards them. It was both humorous and a bit surprising, though he knew Riverclan’s kits would do the same. Instead, the deputy kept a relaxed tone, mewing out.
“Thank you for allowing us to speak with you. It would be best if all of Thunderclan heard this. Earlier today, two of our Warriors came in contact with strange fur that seemed to come from some sort of animal… the only issue, is that none of us could recognize the scent nor the kind of fur that it was. What we did see was that this old scent trail may have found its way into Thunderclan’s territory. We tracked it near the border, all the way up where our territories start to extend back in the direction of twolegplace, and the unclaimed land next to it.” The deputy started.
“Earthstar thought it imperative that we try to warn of a possible threat, and perhaps see if Thunderclan has come in contact with an unfamiliar scent or fur?”
Thunder:
Hornetstrike’s eyes widened as he listed to his brother. Odd fur? An unidentified animal? That was the last thing he would have expected to be hearing from Riverclan.
“So some new magical animal is prancing around? Are we sure Riverclan hasn’t been eating some bad fish?” Scarletpaw muttered, suspicion in her eyes as she watched the Riverclan patrol.
Peachdapple slipped from the medicine den quickly as Aspenfall called for her, her eyes flickering with concern at what she was hearing.

Lightningstar looked at Diamondheart in surprise, a new kind of animal? “As far as I’m aware we haven’t found any new scents on our territory.” He glanced at his deputy. “What kind of animal do you think it is?” He asked the Riverclan deputy. They would have to increase patrols in order to keep an eye out.

Tinypool gave Scarletpaw an unimpressed gaze, she had seen the apprentice make a fuss at the last gathering, her mentor must have their paws full with that one.
Tansykit huffed, settling down beside Squirreltail and pouting up at her mother, "Why can't we be out there? Who are those cats mama?"
Twilightkit had puffed up his fur, the small kit looking more like an fuzzy apprentice with his thick leafbare coat. "I'm gonna protect you mama, don't worry."
Willowsong frowned, glancing at Ghostscreech and then the riverclan patrol. She hadn't heard anything about unfamiliar scents or weird scraps of fur had she?

Ghostscreech gave a shake of his head, “None of the patrols have reported any strange scents or fur.” He said to Lightningstar before looking back at the RiverClan deputy. “I just led a border patrol there not long ago, and we didn’t come across anything.”
Squirreltail licked Twilightkit’s head, “I’m sure you will, little one.” She purred, “But I believe these warriors are only here peacefully. It looks like they just want to talk to Lightningstar.” She added, looking at Tansykit.
“If they’re here in peace, then why do we have to be in here?” Lionkit complained, struggling to get away from his mother’s grip, “It’s so stuffy! I wanna play outside!”

River:
For a moment, Diamondheart looked a bit concerned. It seemed that Thunderclan had not been in contact with whatever it had been. Either that, or they were not telling him the truth. He doubted it was the latter, having known Lightningstar long enough to know the tom would not lie about something like this, even if Thunderclan and Riverclan were at odds. Diamondheart explained further.
“So far, the closest we can come to an answer is that the fur was similar to a dog’s, though different enough in scent and touch to actually be a dog. We ruled out Twoleg pelts due to the natural scent of something wild, not the sharp unnatural scent that comes across twoleg pelts. The only lead we had was that one of our Warriors, who was formerly a loner many moons ago, recalls perhaps scenting the same thing back in twolegplace many moons ago… the only problem being that he never was able to locate what the scent was coming from.”
Thunder:
Featherfoot listened carefully, trying to recall if he had ever scented such a thing in his time in Twolegplace. He realized that Diamondheart must have been talking about Owlwhisker. There was no denying that the tom was vastly different to his larger, thick-pelted Clanmates. The only issue being that Owlwhisker had once been a cat that had been with one of the rouge groups that had attacked Thunderclan long ago, or so he had been told.
Peachdapple kept silent at the mention of twolegplace, praying that her clanmates would not let the Riverclan cats know anything about their new alliance with Skyclan.
“Maybe they’re lying to make us lose our composure.” Sootclaw rumbled tightly as he sat beside Snowstorm, whispering to his mate with critical eyes on the Riverclan patrol.

Tinypool glanced at Snowflower and Shellstream, wondering what the other she-cats thought of the patrol. How had Thunderclan not caught the scent? Her eyes narrowed as she looked at Ghostscreech, perhaps the new deputy had let the border patrols become slack.
"Awww that's no fun. I wanted to see a real battle! I've been watching the apprentices practice their moves in camp." Twilightkit whined.
Tansykit swatted at Lionkit with a giggle, "Good luck getting past Papa. He takes up the whole entrance of the den!"
Shadowblossom pressed closer to Yarrowcloud with a sigh, "Great another threat to worry about." she grumbled quietly. Her eyes darted to Featherfoot, wondering if her son had ever faced this strange animal.

Snowflower watched as the Thunderclan cats questioned her deputy, admiring how put together Diamondheart remained, even with the pressure. Despite the aggression of some of the cats, she recognized the proceedings were going well and carefully paid attention. She only hope the potential threat had moved on. Given how battered Thunderclan looked, they certainly didn’t need another problem so soon.

“There’s always something.” Yarrowcloud sighed deeply to his mate, stomach curling as he thought of Bloompelt and her kits. Were they out there with whatever this mysterious creature was? “Hopefully it’s moved on, whatever it was.”
Frostmoon watched Ghostscreech for a moment, though it was mostly an excuse to not have to look at the Riverclan patrol. Her uncle did seem genuine, even if she hated to admit it. Beside her, she could feel how badly Hornetstrike just wanted to speak to the other tom, and for a moment she felt a pang of guilt for her father. It must have been hard, not even being on equal grounds as a Warrior anymore, let alone having a chance to speak as kin to a deputy. They had to be serious, with duties that didn’t let them have space for family.
She felt her ears fall. Surely Ghostscreech was the same. He would always have to put his duties as deputy and future leader before anything or anyone else.

“That is very strange.” Lightningstar spoke, going quiet for a moment. Something similar to a dog was loose in the territory. “Thank you for the warning Diamondheart, we will certainly keep our eyes open for this creature.” He glanced at Ghostscreech. “Would you mind showing a patrol of our warriors where you lost this scent?” He asked the Riverclan deputy. “So we can have an idea of this scent?”

Diamondheart nodded once at the Thunderclan leader. "We would be happy to. I know it may seem outlandish when speaking about it, but we would be no better than rouges to pick up this unidentified animal and not give warning to our neighboring clan. If Thunderclan has not caught scent of it on your territory... then perhaps it stuck to the border, and found a path away from both our clans." He mused, before nodding one more time. "We can show you the point on the border where we tracked it."
Scarletpaw scowled lightly, ears falling flat at the thought of wasting patrols to go chase after Riverclan kittales. Watching Ghostscreech and Diamondheart there, two deputies right next to eachother, it did make her both envious and driven to one day be in their place. But for now, she gave a distrustful growl.
Dapplenight bristled with unease as he looked at Plumfur, not liking the sound of an unidentified animal possibly in their territory. Especially when prey was so scarce.
Peachdapple looked gravely thoughtful, instantly hoping to be given a sign by Starclan about whatever this could possibly be.

Ghostscreech flicked his ear and looked at the surrounding warriors, “Sunthroat’s border patrol is due to leave soon. I’m sure he won’t mind the detour back to RiverClan’s border to check this strange scent.” He said. The twolegplace patrol should have left by now, and he didn’t want to keep SkyClan waiting any longer. This alliance with the other clan was still fresh and shaky, he couldn’t risk upsetting them when they haven’t even started the first hunting patrol with them.
Sunthroat stood as his name was called, the senior warrior flicking his tail for Redtooth, Plumfur and Dawnpaw to follow him. “We’re ready to go whenever you are.” He said to Diamondheart, giving him a nod.
Lionkit scampered over to the nursery entrance, poking his head out before his mother could pull him back into the safety of the nursery. He wanted to see the rival clan before they could leave. Lionkit let out a squeak when Squirreltail picked him up by the scruff and set him back in the nest, pouting that he had only caught a glimpse of the RiverClan warriors.

Diamondheart waited for Ghostscreech to call over the patrol, and it was pleasant to see Sunthroat again. All the moons that Diamondheart had sat with the former deputy at gatherings were fresh in the tom's mind. He took note of Redtooth, Plumfur and Dawnpaw as well. "We won't keep you waiting then. We'll be on our way. Thank you, Lightningstar." Diamondheart dipped his head again, before stepping back to allow Sunthroat the courtesy of leading the way out of the camp. He knew better than to try and rush out headfirst, lest he make the Thunderclan cats unnerved.
Dawnpaw padded quickly to Sunthroat's side, a hint of excitement in his eyes as he greeted the Riverclan cats with a polite smile. "Hello!" He looked at Snowflower, Shellstream and Tinypool. "I think I remember you all from the last gathering. I'm Dawnpaw, if you haven't met me."
Scarletpaw felt a flash of anger that once again it seemed that Dawnpaw would be tasked with an important task or patrol. Of course he would, and he was already acting so infuriatingly chatty with the Riverclan cats. She huffed sharply, turning to go find Tigerpaw.

Lightningstar nodded his head as Ghostscreech commanded the patrols. His apprentice was turning into a fine deputy. He waved his tail to Diamondheart in goodbye. “Send my regards to Earthstar.” He called. “If we find out what the scent is, we will be sure to pass along what we know.” He spoke before looking at Ghostscreech. “Take your hunting patrol, you don’t want to be late.” He spoke softly so the Riverclan cats would not over hear.
Redtooth hurried after Sunthroat. Oh how he wished Shininglight were on this patrol. What he would give to see her again.
Tigerpaw was sitting next to Featherfoot. “I want to go see what the scent is.” He complained.

That would be appreciated.” He waved his tail in response as he felt a flicker of relief. This was good. While he could certainly feel the looks of the Thunderclan cats, he looked once more at Hornetstrike, who had risen to his paws. For a few seconds, they looked at eachother, as though conversing without saying a word. Finally, Hornetstrike waved his tail slowly with a soft smile. Diamondheart returned the soft smile, hoping that there would be time to speak at the next gathering. He turned back around to pad back with the now enlarged patrol. “I bet you could have just spoken to him.” Frostmoon mutteted sourly. “Though I’m still not sure why, after you’ve fought battles against him.” “Not the time or place. He has an important task to do right now anyway, I wouldn’t want to ruin that.” Hornetstrike lowered his head to groom between his daughter’s ears, able to tell what she was thinking. “Diamondheart’s knocked me off of Sunningrocks plenty of times, and I’ve sent him flying over his own paws in return as well. It‘s what we do for our Clans. My little moon.” He sighed out the nickname with a soft voice. “You are so hard on yourself.” Featherfoot looked down at Tigerpaw, a small look of understanding filling him as he mewed. “I know it must look enticing, but I actually have a good feeling that you and I will be doing something else important today.” He admitted, glancing at where Ghostscreech was about to leave Lightningstar’s side.

Sunthroat flicked his tail, signaling to his patrol to surround the RiverClan patrol while he walked alongside Diamondheart. He pushed through the camp entrance and back out into the forest. Looking at Diamondheart, he gave a nod, “Alright, which part of the border are we going to?” He asked, moving in the direction of the RiverClan border.
Ghostscreech gave a sharp nod and moved off to gather his patrol, approaching Featherfoot first, “I want you and Tigerpaw on the Twolegplace patrol. Meet me at the camp entrance, I’ll go gather the others.” He said.

Diamondheart mewed as he padded after Sunthroat, speaking to the older tom with familiarity. “Down the opposite direction from where we were brought in by Midnightstream and Darktail. The river runs along our border and narrows enough to grace the banks. Birchtail tracked it there, but went no further of course due to the border. The scent was faint, in fact, rather stale according to her, so likely this… thing, was poking around under all our noses.” He frowned lightly at the thought of that.
Featherfoot flicked his tail with anticipation, honored to be able to help the deputy on the first official patrol. He nodded to Ghostscreech, before looking at Tigerpaw with a knowing wink. “See? Told you. You’ve got a real important patrol today.”

Tigerpaw looked at his mentor with wide eyes. “Scarletpaw is gonna be so jealous!” He laughed happily and scurried towards the camp entrance. He was getting to go on the first patrol with the deputy! This was his chance to impress him! “Oh, it… isn’t a competition?” Featherfoot exclaimed, though his words trailed off as he watched Tigerpaw make a break right for the camp entrance. Ah, well. He supposed it was better than Tigerpaw not wanting to go, or being afraid to go. He hoped he could make this a learning experience. He did feel a hint of sympathy for Scarletpaw, who he could see was glaring sharply at Tigerpaw when it was clear he’d be going on the patrol. Featherfoot had to time to console her, because Scarletpaw furiously turned away and stormed towards the apprentice’s den. Sighing softly, Featherfoot could only pad after his apprentice, waiting for the rest of the patrol.

Shellstream gave a quick greeting to the ThunderClan cats and followed Diamondheart out of camp.
Plumfur felt her heart drop as Sunthroat called her name. She didn't really want anything to do with the RiverClan cats, even though they seemed friendly. She gave Dapplenight a concerned look before meeting with the others. Maybe they would ignore her if she stayed quiet enough?
Slatesight watched Hornetstrike and Diamondheart acknowledge each other curiously. He couldn't imagine having a brother be the deputy of another Clan.

Dapplenight’s ears fell as Plumfur was called to be part of Sunthroat’s patrol. For a moment, he wanted to rush after her and plead to go with her, but the thought of challenging Ghostscreech’s decision was just as nerve wracking. Instead, he mewed softly. “It… it’ll be alright. Riverclan wouldn’t dare try anything with Sunthroat there, it’ll go by nice and quick.”

Wait, Plumfur is going on the RiverClan patrol, sorry for the confusion ^.^’ the twolegplace patrol is going to be Ghostscreech, Willowsong, Featherfoot and Tigerpaw.)
Sunthroat gave a nod and turned in the direction of the border Diamondheart spoke of, “Hmm.. if it was near the river, then perhaps the water washed away any trace of it on our side.” Sunthroat said thoughtfully, flicking his ear. Ghostscreech had been right when he had said that the patrols hadn’t picked up any new scents lately. “It’s been awhile since we’ve talked, how are things in RiverClan?” The former deputy asked, looking back at Diamondheart.
Ghostscreech moved off to look for Willowsong, thinking he had seen her near the warrior’s den. Once he finds her, the patrol would be ready to go. Ghostscreech just hoped the SkyClan patrol wouldn’t be too upset with the delay.

(WHOOOOOPS lemme edit my last post then )
Diamondheart listened to Sunthroat as he spoke, before the Riverclan deputy answered with a small hum. “Everything has been as usual, in fact, I would say this leafbare has thankfully spared us its worst. I’m getting used to seeing Ghostscreech at the foot of Fourtrees instead of you, it is starting to sink in more.” He admitted, before he looked back at his clanmates and then at Dawnpaw, Redtooth and Plumfur. “Hopefully, for both our clans’ sakes, this animal won’t be seen again.

Tinypool followed behind Diamondheart, she nodded to Dawnpaw as he spoke letting out a quiet but rather friendly, "Hello kit." The older she-cat then looked to Sunthroat, appraising the older deputy. She had grown to respect him greatly over the many gatherings, despite Riverclan and Thunderclan's constant odds with each other. She flicked her ear, hoping that Ghostscreech would grow to become just as respected as Sunthroat.
Willowsong was still standing by the elder's den with Cloudysky. The two backed off now that the Riverclan patrol was heading out without an issue. Cloudysky nodded to his parents, happy that he didn't have to do more than stand there to protect them.
Blizzardstorm sighed, stepping back from the nursery entrance so Tansykit and Twilightkit could look at the departing patrols with Lionkit. "Stay in the entrance you three," he warned before moving to nuzzle Squirreltail with a quiet chuckle. "They're a pawful huh."
