“I know what you mean.” Jaytalon mewed, looking at the fresh-kill pile for something to eat, “I only trained Applefur for a little while after her previous mentor passed, but it felt like she was only my apprentice for a couple days.”
“A little uncomfortable, but that’s to be expected.” Squirreltail mewed, giving her belly a lick. She felt a slightly twinge of pain and gave a frown before shaking her head, “I can’t wait to meet them.”

Autumnpaw - Nursery - With Dawnpaw
"I can't help but feel like that you know. I've never had anything or anyone in the clan and I suck at hunting and fighting. I'm glad to have at least one friend now." She fell quiet then and grabbed one of the big balls of moss, carrying it out of the nursery and into the camp. "Where are we taking them?"

Darktail chuckled getting closer to the kit, "And who in this clan is boring and strict?" Blizzardstorm purred, "Me too, they'll be just perfect." “The real old Warriors. Like Sootclaw and Nightfang. Or Mothsong! She looks scary sometimes. What if she pulls all my fur out?” Flurrykit fretted, suddenly looking around as if the sharp she-cat was moving around camp. |

She fell quiet then and grabbed one of the big balls of moss, carrying it out of the nursery and into the camp. "Where are we taking them?"
“Let’s take them out into the forest. Maybe while we’re out there I can help you practice your hunting more!” Dawnpaw offered. He was still a decently new apprentice, but he enjoyed hunting alot so far, and Sunthroat was incredibly skilled as a mentor. |

Darktail couldn't help but laugh, "Why and how would she pull all your fur out? Did one of the apprentices tell you that?" Darktail remembered the older apprentices telling him and his siblings all sorts of things when he was a kit and a young apprentice, all silly things that he knew now were completely false, but in the moment he had wholeheartedly believed them. He supposed things were more simple then.

Darktail remembered the older apprentices telling him and his siblings all sorts of things when he was a kit and a young apprentice, all silly things that he knew now were completely false, but in the moment he had wholeheartedly believed them. He supposed things were more simple then. “Well…not really. They didn’t say it to me but I may have heard them talking about the older Warriors. I dunno.” Flurrykit shrugged, though he looked a bit sheepish now that he was caught snooping in on the apprentices’ conversation. Midnightstream chuckled. “She can be pretty snappy at times, but she’s also very dedicated…and she’s been through some rough things, even if she acts like she hasn’t.” She admitted. |

Squirreltail smiled and shifted again as she felt another stab of pain in her stomach, “Not to cause any worry, but I keep feeling a bit of pain. Would you mind getting Peachdapple for me, Blizzardstorm?” She mewed, her ears flattening as she felt an even sharper pain.

However they decide to do that. And just because a cat is your mentor that doesn't mean you can't train with other warriors and apprentices sometimes."

Squirreltail needs you!" “Then that means we can still train together then, right?” Flurrykit asked hopefully, his eyes gleaming with hope at the thought of leaning battle moves from his uncle. Peachdapple lifted her head from her herb stores, putting down the poppy seeds she was inspecting and lifting to her paws. The medicine cat quickly sifted through her stores, scowling at the low abundance of borage, but taking the last few stems either way. She could tell by his urgency what was happening, and a flicker of joy filled her belly. She loved helping with kittings. She motioned with her tail for Aspenfall to follow her as she nodded to Blizzardstorm, pushing out of her den. |

Squirreltail let out quiet hiss as the pain grew, waiting for Blizzardstorm and the medicine cats to get there.

Blizzardstorm hurried after Peachdapple and Aspenfall as they headed for the nursery, his fur was rapidly puffing up as he got more anxious about Squirreltail and the kits.

His eyes suddenly grew wide as he saw Peachdapple and Blizzardstorm come back towards the nursery. Midnightstream perked curiously as Peachdapple slipped past her and into the nursery. The Medicine Cat placed her herbs down before Squirreltail and mewed with a trained calmness and warmth. “Are your pains sharp and inconsistent? You certainly look ready to kit. Don’t fret, dear. You are in very good paws.” She assured, lifting her paw to place it gently on the Queen’s belly, feeling around. |

Jaytalon took a bite before passing it over to Autumnfall, “Don’t worry, maybe we can search for prey when we go out for that border patrol. Maybe more prey will come out when the sun starts going down and it cools off a bit.” He suggested.
Squirreltail gave a nod, “It started a little bit ago.” She mewed.

Jaytalon took a bite before passing it over to Autumnfall, “Don’t worry, maybe we can search for prey when we go out for that border patrol. Maybe more prey will come out when the sun starts going down and it cools off a bit.” He suggested. Squirreltail gave a nod, “It started a little bit ago.” She mewed. Autumnfall took a bite, chewing thoughtfully before she snickered. “Always have a solution, huh? Alright then, we can go hunting later. We can see who catches the most prey.” She challenged. “You certainly are kitting.” Peachdapple nodded, her voice as warm as the greenleaf sun. “This is good. You look ready to pop with those kits in there. Better a late birth than an early one, dear. Blizzardstorm, can you go fetch me a thick stick?” The medicine cat asked the tom with a hint of order in her voice. |

Darktail herded Flurrykit out of the way as Blizzardstorm, Peachdapple and Aspenfall hurried into the nursery. He looked at Midnightstream with a smile. “Looks like Squirreltail’s kits are coming.”
Blizzardstorm raced out of the nursery at Peachdapple’s request. He came back several minutes later with three different sticks in his mouth. He dropped them in front of Squirreltail before backing out of the medicine cat’s way. “I didn’t know which one was best.” He admitted sheepishly.

Darktail herded Flurrykit out of the way as Blizzardstorm, Peachdapple and Aspenfall hurried into the nursery. He looked at Midnightstream with a smile. “Looks like Squirreltail’s kits are coming.” Blizzardstorm raced out of the nursery at Peachdapple’s request. He came back several minutes later with three different sticks in his mouth. He dropped them in front of Squirreltail before backing out of the medicine cat’s way. “I didn’t know which one was best.” He admitted sheepishly. “That’s great!” Midnightstream exclaimed. “New kits are always a good sign! That just goes to show we’re recovering, right?” She purred, glancing towards the nursery. “Squirreltail’s a really skilled Warrior too, I bet she’ll do just fine.” Peachdapple offered a small snicker at Blizzardstorm’s words, picking one of the sticks to place in front of Squirreltail. “Most cats wouldn’t know the perfect size. I should start collecting perfect ones to have in the Medicine Den…hm, not a bad idea at all! Thank you, Blizzardstorm. I can already tell you’ll be an earnest father.” She mewed, before she looked at Squirreltail and nodded. “As soon as you feel the next contraction, I want you to grip the stick and push.” |

Squirreltail gave a strained purr at he mate and gave Peachdapple a nod as she grasped the stick in her jaws. After a moment, she clenched down on the stick as another contraction came up and pushed as Peachdapple had instructed her to. The first kit was born, a golden furred Tom with a bit of white on him.

“Just like that.” Peachdapple nodded. “Excellent job, Squirreltail.” She leaned down to inspect the little kit, quickly nipping him free and grooming his fur in the opposite direction. She pawed him gently over and purred. “Looks like you’ve got a little tom here.”

I don’t like it when she sounds like that.” He fretted. “Keep pushing, Squirreltail. The next one will come very soon. You feel like you have possibly two more. Deep breaths, dear.” Peachdapple instructed, reminding herself to see if she could scout for more borage after this. |

Squirreltail gritted her teeth and gave a final push, the second kit finally being born. She gave a sigh of relief and lifted her head tiredly, wanting to see her kit.

Blizzardstorm came closer as the second kit was born, purring loudly as the kits were placed at Squirreltail's belly.

“Alright…only if you’re sure.” Flurrykit fretted, before he decided. “I can go bring Squirreltail a big piece of prey, she’ll be really hungry after having kits, right?” He asked, wanting to be helpful.
Peachdapple praised. “There’s the second one. You’re doing a great job, Squirreltail.” She moved to clean this kit now, happy to see there seemed to be no complications to the births.

Clenching the stick in her teeth again, Squirreltail gave one final push as the last kit was born. “And that’s number three.” Peachdapple chuckled, brushing her tail gently on Squirreltail’s shoulder. “That was one of the quickest births I’ve ever seen.” She admitted, grateful for it though. She quickly cleaned the last kit, placing them beside their mother. She mewed. “Now, take this borage, it will stimulate your milk to come. As for the lucky father, I think you two would manage with some time together.” She teased, looking back at Blizzardstorm. |
