Mama gets a bit nervous when we fight too much. I don’t think she likes battling very much.” Flurrykit admitted, the bravery in his eyes faltering a bit as he gave a slightly sheepish look. “But Featherfoot’s been showing us some! Are you gonna teach me some too?” He asked, suddenly interested. |

Darktail's eyes flashed as his mind reminded him of his own paws covered in an apprentice's blood. "I don't know about that Flurrykit... I-I'm a big tom. I don't want to hurt you."

You wouldn’t do that! You’re not all that big!” Flurrykit scoffed, giving his uncle a look of challenge. “I’m the biggest kit in the nursery, too! I bet I could take you.” He decided, crouching down with determination. |

Darktail flexed his claws anxiously, "Okay, I can show you a couple moves, but we're going to be careful. Can you show me what you know?" “Sure! Check out my battle crouch!” Flurrykit bragged, lowering himself into a little battle stance, before he swatted a paw out towards his uncle, hoping to surprise him with his speed. Midnightstream watched with a humored laugh, fond of the kits. She enjoyed seeing them so lively and fun, and especially how well Darktail seemed to like them. |

Darktail leaned back away from the kit's swipe at the last second, nodding in approval. "That was a good swipe Flurrykit. It's important to remember to use your size and speed against bigger cats. Especially when you're outnumbered. Do you know what to do if a warrior would have you pinned down?" he asked with a flick of his ear. He wouldn't let his kin end up like the she-cat under his paws, he needed to teach the kits how to be safe and survive.

He wouldn't let his kin end up like the she-cat under his paws, he needed to teach the kits how to be safe and survive. “Well…” Flurrykit looked thoughtful for a moment before he perked up. “Papa says that he used to learn to kick bellies with his back claws, but we aren’t allowed to use our claws on eachother, right? Uhm…I guess I would try and pull them down with me? Then roll on em?” He tried, not too sure what the right answer was. |

Darktail nodded, "Right no claws with your clanmates. But, if another cat was attacking you, definitely use your claws. If you can get your paws out, definitely go for the belly, it's a cat's weakest spot. If you can't get your legs out the best strategy is to go limp. When you stop fighting, your opponent may let go of their grip a little bit. When you feel them relax, you surge up with all your strength and try to push them off of you. As a smaller cat, that may be hard to do but in an emergency you could try it."

I may be smaller, but I promise you that I’m as tough as a Senior Warrior.” She purred. |

Darktail walked back away from the kits to face Midnightstream with a flick of his tail. "Sure, you can pin me down. I'm sure I can handle it." he mewed with a surge of confidence. "If you insist." Midnightstream chuckled, before she quickly crouched and made a leap for the tom, pressing her paws firmly to his shoulders and pushing down on them. She felt a flicker of warmth at being so close to him, even though they had sparred before in the past during old training sessions. It was just...different now, in a way. She shook the thought from her mind, reminding herself that this was for teaching the kits some battle moves, not for her own mooning. |

Darktail didn't fight much as he was pushed over, letting out a puff of air as his back hit the ground. Once he was pinned, he struggled against Midnighstream for a moment before going completely limp, lolling his head to the side and closing his eyes.

Midnightstream waited for Darktail to go limp, playing the part of an attacking enemy with ease. She gave a noise of confusion, hoping to look convincing, as her hold on him loosened as she dropped her guard.
Flurrykit watched with wide eyes, taking in the sight of his older clanmates practicing the attacks. He wanted to be as strong as they were!

Darktail stayed limp for just a moment longer before surging up into Midnighstream, pressing all of his power through his paws into her shoulders with a huff of effort.

Midnightstream gasped, genuinely surprised about how strong Darktail's push was, though she quickly recovered her senses, stumbling off of him on her paws and giving a look of approval. "Look at that power, Flurrykit! I know you'll be just as strong if you practice alot!" She mewed to the kit, giving him a warm look.
"Woah! That was so cool! You just threw her right off!" Flurrykit bounced excitedly on his paws, now more determined than ever to emulate his uncle's skill.

Blizzardstorm nodded to Darktail, Midnightstream and the kits as he passed by to enter the nursery, he couldn't help but purr as he caught sight of Squirreltail. "Hello beautiful." he rumbled warmly as he made his way over to her nest.

“I understand. Feelings are complicated, I’m sure you’ll figure it out.” Jaytalon mewed, standing up and stretching, “Come on, we should eat something before our patrol.” He said, moving towards the fresh-kill pile.

It was nice to have a set schedule. I’m super proud of her, she did so well! But it went by so fast, you know?” She spoke, lifting to her paws to follow Jaytalon to the prey pile. |
