Wolfpaw soon got near Owltree. "There we go. I found it!" He looked back at Stormface.

Wolfpaw moved towards the mouse. He tended before leaping. He landed on the mouse, killing it quickly.

Stormface didn't make a sound. It was good that the squirrel was distracted, but it would mean nothing if Wolfpaw slipped up.

Wolfpaw lunged himself at the squirrel. He was too slow though and he missed the squirrel. It scurried away.

Stormface hissed through his teeth. He'd been hoping Wolfpaw would catch the squirrel. "Oh, too bad," he meowed, padding over to the apprentice, "Everyone misses sometimes. You'll get there eventually."

"Messing up is a part of learning," Stormface replied, "Nobody likes it, but it happens- and it's going to keep happening, so I'd start getting used to it now." His whiskers twitched slightly.
"Listen, Wolfpaw," he meowed, catching the apprentice's eye, "As long as you tried your hardest, I cannot fault you for missing that squirrel. Your form looked excellent, you've clearly been practicing- it was just bad luck. If you don't try... then I will unleash my fury."
He was only half-joking.

There was a sparrow nearby, bur Stormface wasn't about to tell his apprentice. "You tell me. There's one more animal about to be fresh-kill here, if you can find it,"

Wolfpaw nodded and scented the air. He couldn't detect anything at first but soon faintly scented sparrow. "I smell a bird."

Stormface twitched his whiskers in amusement. He could see the bird several tail-lengths away, pecking at something on the ground.
