"Maybe you won't even have to say anything. Sometimes it's best to just have someone near you to feel better." She shrugged.
"I just want the tom who told my kits wonderful stories and gave them badger rides when my mate was busy back." She fretted.

Lightningstar shook his head. He still wouldn't know what to say if Mapleleaf had lost her kit. He moved away from her to go the Warriors den. "Yarrowcloud?"

Yarrowcloud shot up sharply, Lightningstar awakening him from a strange nightmare. He was glad for that, he hated sleeping without Shadowblossom. He shook his fur and took deep breaths. Looking at Lightningstar, he asked.
"Oh! Uh, yes? You need me for something?" He hauled himself up, his half-seeing eyes on his leader.

Yarrowcloud looked a bit confused, but followed heavily after the leader. He wondered what he did this time. He'd been less annoying, right? He worked twice as hard now, protected his kits better, trained his fighting skills constantly. What was wrong now? But he did not speak, no prodding questions or teasing like usual, silently and walking straight and with purpose. It was quiet.

Spiderkit let out a squeal, landing on top of the turtle and smashing it to the ground. It ducked its head back into it's shell.
"Now it's in its shell! You should have gone for the neck." Branchkit told Spiderkit.

Yarrowcloud paused, looking at Lightningstar with a cross look. He sighed.
"Like something's missing. Like...I need to be better. If this is another stupid lecture that I need to get over my son being taken away and probably torn apart by a hawk while still alive then I do not want to hear it." Yarrowcloud growled, moving past the leader to follow a scent.
Self-pity, it was always stupid self pity, like feeling pain wasn't allowed anymore. Hah. As if Lightningstar would ever lose any of his Starclan-gifted family, or Silentflare. Even Badgernight's kits survived maulings. When Brokenpaw lost her eye it was sympathy station but when he did he was stupid and clumsy and too sorry for himself. Whatever. The clan could say what they wanted. He didn't think he cared anymore...

Lightningstar let out a growl before bounding forward to get in his way. "Stop it!" He snapped. "If you think I'm just going to sit here and lecture you when your in pain then you don't know me very well." He spoke. "Get it through your thick skull that more people care about you than Shadowblossom. You'll never get over it, I know that and I don't expect you too. I wouldn't expect anyone to get over it. You also though have to love your life for Featherkit. Make sure to live the life he couldn't live."

"Live the life for him? What? So when he shows pride and energy that his peers can call him arrogant and stupid? So when his leader makes stupid decisions he can be forced to follow blindly? Like when you wanted EVERY warrior to fight those rouges at Sunningrocks, only for them to attack moments later? What if we had left that day, huh? Packed up and war frolicked over to Sunningrocks? You honestly think the queens and apprentices could have fought all them off? That Vixenpaw could have gotten every mousefoddering kit into the wall?!" Yarrowcloud shouted.
"Why should I want love from anyone else when anyone who loves me gets hurt? Starclan have punished Shadowblossom and I from the start, but I don't want to drag anyone down with me. So I'm cutting back, so what? I'm working harder now, I can fight better than ever, half-blind too! I thought this is what you all wanted!" He hissed, attempting to shove past Lightningstar again.
