( it looks just fine to me, don't worry about it! )
"Let's just say that there's a reason they don't get along," Eamon agreed with a smirk. "You should see the two of them trying to have a conversation, it's like they both malfunction and forget how they're supposed to work. Actually, on second thought, let's avoid that if we can." If it wasn't so infuriating it would have been hilarious but honestly, there was nothing Eamon liked less than being in a room with the two of them. At least on his own Caterpillar was palatable. Intense, yes. Humourless? Also yes. But manageable.

"Oh, good," Eamon responded, sounding like he meant just the opposite. But he wore a smile and his eyes were creased at the corners, so clearly he could at least consider entertaining the idea. He enjoyed watching other people's fallout, and wasn't even opposed to creating some for himself. The difference here was that he'd be expected to solve it, not only observe. It was the least he could do for his friend, but he'd rather not get involved in someone else's problems. It put him in a weird position every time.

"That's possible," Eamon conceded with a shrug. "I haven't bothered asking them about it. But things have gotten violent before, so I wouldn't dismiss it entirely." Luckily enough Cedric didn't get violent. Not even Joachim had managed to provoke him into it and Joachim had stopped aiming punches at the guy when he realised he wasn't going to return one even once. Eamon didn't care enough to help them figure things out, nor did he care enough to figure out how deep their dislike for one another went. He just pretended the issue didn't exist unless he found himself in the middle of it.

Eamon let out a laugh at that, surprising even himself. It was quite the image, and he was pretty sure Phallon wasn't too far off in her assessment of it. Few things made Hatter truly angry. While making a mess probably wasn't a part of the elite list of situations that did, Eamon knew from experience that frustration was just as ugly on his friend as rage. Would he get violent? No, probably not. But venting took more than one shape, and Eamon liked to distance himself from all of them. "That's definitely one way to get a reaction out of him."

Eamon nodded knowingly. "Yeah, that's probably wise," he agreed, though he had to say he shared the temptation to some degree. It would be pretty amusing just to see Joachim's reaction. But in a house where he wasn't even allowed to do dishes without supervision (he knew very well that on the occasions he was allowed Joachim returned to check his work - and redo it if he wasn't happy - at least once), he was pretty sure the chaos would not be worth it. He could take some lectures, but Joachim didn't get bored of giving them. He'd avoid those long talks as if his life depended on it.
Still, just imagining doing it put a smile on his face. Maybe it was the fact that they were moving that put him at ease, or maybe he'd just exhausted his supply of grumpiness. He thought the first was more likely, he could hold an incredible grudge. Either way, he knew that his earlier frustration was gone; maybe it was temporary, maybe not, but he was determined to hold onto it for now.

"It really doesn't, huh," Eamon mused. "Guess stories pass time." He didn't fell like someone who'd been walking for the last two hours. Sure, their pace had been good, but still. It was nice to have the time pass so quickly. Even at the half-way point, Eamon didn't mind that they weren't even almost there yet.

"The morning is usually the best time to visit," Eamon replied. "He's a lot more likely to ignore us later in the day just because he'll be in the middle of some new exciting project. But honestly, we could probably pop in at any time. The fact that you're there will override pretty much anything else he's fascinated by." Experience told him as much. Earth was all Caterpillar ever wanted to discuss with him.

Eamon nodded. Then morning it was. That was probably wise. The sun was sinking noticeably now. They still had a few hours before it would set completely, but if they wanted to get all the way to Caterpillar's home tonight, it would be dark by the time they got there and pitch black by the time they got out, and that was if they were there for only a short while. Waiting for a while was safer. "It's a plan, then."

( sorry this took so long :/ I completely forgot to reply, sorry. )
"Not really," Eamon replied. "It's a pretty big town, but the inn is right in the middle. Whichever road you enter on, you'll find a sign towards it before long. And if not, everyone knows their way. Just ask and you'll know exactly where you'll have to go." He wasn't sure if she wanted reassurance or just a conversation, but he didn't try to figure it out, either. Whichever it was, he'd find out soon enough.

Eamon wasn't comfortable with silence at the best of times, but with someone who was practically a stranger, it was unbearable. He let it drag out painfully for a while, then gave up. Carefully at first, as if he was disrupting some unspoken agreement he'd consented to without realising, he went back to his storytelling - moreso for his own sake than anyone else's. He was far from done, and he knew that this could fill the rest of their time easily.

( i'm the worst, so sorry )
Eamon didn't think much about what he was saying, so the words just kind of wandered on their own. He knew them so well that he didn't have to guide them, and he was glad. It made it a whole lot easier. Finally, as they were walking up yet another hill, the sounds of the town started to drown out what he was saying, so he trailed off. "We're here."

( I'm so sorry to hear that :c I lost my own grandfather not too long ago so I know how difficult it can be. )
"Sure," Eamon agreed, pushing the door open. He didn't wait for Phallon to step inside before he did, but he did leave the door propped open so it wouldn't shut in her face. The inside of the building looked like any other inn, surprisingly clean but not exactly modern, and with the sun dipping as they neared evening, it was full both of food and people. Nobody looked up at them, in a town you couldn't keep tabs on everyone so nobody tried.

( thank you <3)
Eamon glanced around the crowded room, making his mind up before he'd even finished surveying it. "A room, probably. It's crowded here right now, it might be good to wait until they actually have a free table before we eat." And once these people had finished eating, they'd be checking in. If they wanted to be certain they'd get a room, they should get one before the crowd moved upstairs.

"Yeah, that's probably a good idea." He glanced around the room again, frowning at the crowds. He loved a good crowd as much as the next man Eamon patted the satchel, nodding. "We should be covered. But there's only one way to find out." He nodded to the counter and the man behind it, giving out drinks and food to anyone approaching him with money.
