beldam hollow is a small town along the coast of oregon- it's not easy to find on a map. most tourists mysteriously break down on the side of the highway, and walk to find the nearest town, only to stumble across beldam hollow. few can find their way back to their cars, and fewer still find their car where they left it- miles down the road, in the middle of the woods, or sometimes, missing altogether, to be found years later in a farmer's cornfield in utah, or sitting in a circle drawn in the desert sand of arizona. those who are 'native' residents have only three stories- they are descendants of all those who have stumbled across the town over the centuries, and decided to live in beldam hollow, or they belong to one of the two very distinguished groups that call this town home--

the first group could be considered the founders of beldam hollow. they are a coven of witches, who in the old days came to this area to escape the witch trials. they stumbled across beldam hollow the same way as most- their horses suddenly stopped, and would not move any further. when they investigated, they found an area of powerful energy, right on a ley line. unfortunately (or fortunately?), they returned to their horses only to find bones in their places, and so decided to settle there. they practiced unsavory arts, until malevolent beings began to manifest within the forest and cause quite a bit of trouble for farm animals and the innocent traveler. now the witches focus much less on bleeding goats and much more on charms, potions, and healing. not all the witches are descendants of the salem witches- in fact, many families have moved there since, making the witch community incredibly diverse.

the other group, while having lived in the area much longer than the witches, has only moved into town in the past century. they are the werewolves, people with the ability to transform fully into a wolf. it is hard to distinguish them from a normal human or wolf when they are in either form, though most native residents of beldam hollow know who transforms to howl at the full moon by now. while they do unwillingly transform every full moon, they can also transform whenever they want to. the only two ways to become a werewolf are to be born one, or to be bitten by one- though werewolf bites are rare. not all werewolves live in town- many still live wild and free in the forest, though they rarely become human, and more move to beldam hollow with every passing year.

your character can either be a witch, lycanthrope, or human. if they are new to town you need to specify how they came to live there. newer human residents won't know about the witches or werewolves yet. there should be fewer male witches than females, fewer female werewolves than males, and only a couple of newly turned werewolves. i don't care that much about gender ratio as long as it's reasonable. other than that, follow all the same rules you would for any role play.

description. keep it simple. for lycanthropes, please describe what the wolf form looks like as well.
