River: Skystorm cheered for Diamondheart's announcement, sitting tall.
Thunder: Stumppaw listened with rapt attention, eyes glued to whatever leader was speaking. This was so exciting!!
Shadow: Starrylight listened to Diamondheart, but kept glancing over at Cedarstar with a slight frown. She didn't like how uneasy her mate looked up there. She tried to catch his eye and offer him a reassuring smile. He belonged up there just as much as the rest of the leaders.
Wind: Sagefoot looked anxious as she watched Diamondheart speak, he looked so comfortable and confident up there despite just being a deputy. She hoped she never had to speak up there in Swiftstar's place.

Splashstone was silent for a long moment, contemplation coursing through his mind. If he joined Riverclan… it would mean leaving his sisters and Windclan behind. He didn’t hate his Clan, he never had… but he had never truly felt like a Windclan cat, too large to run on the moors, and too heavy to fit in the narrower tunnels. If he told Swiftstar… would Windclan let him go? “…Can I think about it?” He asked lightly. “Maybe in a moon’s time, I… I can say for sure.” Stormsplash nodded quickly, "Of course, and if you decide that is not what you want, please do not think I will be mad. My only wish for you is to be happy. If you don't think Riverclan will bring you happiness then it is not the place for you, no matter how much I would like it to." Splashstone was grateful for Stormsplash’s words, though he glanced up at the rock. There was no doubting that Riverclan’s deputy looked as confident as a leader up there, which certainly spoke volumes of how confident Earthstar must be in his leadership. It wasn’t a slight at Swiftstar, he had never had a problem with his leader… but Windclan’s troubles with the divide between moor-runners and tunnelers had been a painful divide. The truth about Meadowbrook had struck him so hard. He truly believed she understood him, and had given him an outlet for his pain through training and order. Riverclan seemed so peaceful in comparison. Splashstone wanted that kind of peace, for himself and for the clan he was in.

Snowflower looked away as her name was called, but she lit right back up as her sister's name was announced. Mentally, she chided herself. She'd worked hard to earn her warrior name. If she felt so proud of Birchtail, she should feel the same for herself. She straightened a little and raised her head.
Slatefur and Smokestream watched Diamondheart with pride. His eloquent speaking made him the pride of Riverclan, in their eyes.
Marshpaw gasped at the sound of his name being called, and joined in the congratulatory cheer.

Cedarstar flicked his ear when he glanced at Diamondheart. He felt it was bold for a deputy to speak up before most of the other leaders. It certainly wasn't something he would've done as deputy. 'Diamondheart has been deputy longer than Swiftstar and I have been leaders,' he thought. Perhaps that's where Diamondheart got his confidence?
He nodded to the silvery tom in a way of congratulating all their warriors and apprentices. So RiverClan also had a lot of new warriors and apprentices. Cedarstar looked through the crowd, picking out the toms and she-cats he made into warriors and apprentices this past moon. Compared to the other Clans, it didn't seem like much.

RIVERCLAN:
Diamondheart waited for the cheers to quiet down before he continued, allowing a bit of the overarching curiosity come out that had been in Riverclan the past few days.
“Recently, two of our Warriors found a strange clump of fur that seemed to have made its way down one of our river channels. Under further investigation, we are unable to tell the origin of this fur. It is too coarse to be a cat’s, but the scent ruled out that of a dog or a fox, either. Riverclan has reason to believe that an unknown animal has possibly made a presence somewhere along the river… or, in any stream that leads into the river. Making the exact source unknown. There have been no other scents or sightings of this fur or possible animal since the fur was found.”
Diamondheart glanced back at the other leaders, before looking back down at the gathered cats, honesty in his voice as he admitted. “Riverclan has reason to believe this is warranted as something to report to all of the Clans. More so, if any other Clan has found such fur, or odd scents or animals prodding around their territories.”
SHADOWCLAN:
Spiderfang’s eyes shot up to Diamondheart when the deputy made the next announcement. She looked silently at her Clanmates, keeping her jaws closed tightly. Surely, Diamondheart had to be referring to the prey-maulers. Cedarstar announcing it would be up to his own discretion, she would not speak unless he spoke about it first.
Rustlepaw grew silent at the new words, the scent description matched very closely to what she had scented that first time, when she had found the mauled prey that started it all.
THUNDERCLAN:
“A new animal?” Flurrypaw gasped out, quickly being hushed before he whispered more quietly. “What could that be?!”
“That must be why the Sunningrock borders have been so strongly marked recently…” Frostmoon mumbled lightly to herself. She hated patrolling there since she had lost that battle, but the newer patrols lately had been exceptionally strong in marking the borders on the Riverclan side. She looked at Ghostscreech on instinct, intrigue in this new mystery temporarily overriding her glum mood.

Shadow:
Duskpaw tensed, shuffling closer to Whorlpaw at the announcement. She glanced curiously at her father, wondering if he would mention the prey-maulers.
Spottedpaw frowned, quickly glancing at Fuzzypaw to see her reaction.
Wind: Swiftstar frowned, eyes sweeping the crowd for the crowd's reactions. His eyes narrowed as he saw Thunderclan and Shadowclan look uneasy but not surprised. He raised his head, speaking to the crowd, "Windclan has not noticed anything out of the ordinary in our territory, but thank you for the warning Diamondheart."
Sagefoot's ears flew back, fear for her kits and clan coursing through her.
Eclipsesky's head snapped to look at the medicine cats to see if anyone reacted poorly to the announcement. Were there unreported injuries?
Thunder: Stumppaw sat silently, trying not to act giddy that she had already heard this news from the Riverclan patrol before the gathering.
Sky: Specklepaw turned to Sproutpaw and Hawkpaw, "What do you think it looks like? Do you think it's dangerous?" she whispered.

ShadowClan & SkyClan
Fuzzypaw's ears tilted back and she shot a glance to Spottedpaw, moving closer to him. She knew, somehow, that the fur belonged to the Prey Maulers.
Warblerpaw frowned at the new information, even more so when he noticed the uneasy reactions of the ShadowClan cats. What did they know?
WindClan & ThunderClan
Bluewhisker was silent, having learned about the fur previously. Her face remained entirely passive.
Palegaze's ear flicked with mild curiosity. An unknown animal? He wondered what such a creature could look like.

RIVERCLAN:
Diamondheart nodded gratefully to Swiftstar, a bit relieved that it seemed Windclan wasn’t in any danger so far. He quickly mewed. “That is all Riverclan has to report tonight.”
He stepped back, in case one of the remaining three leaders wanted to speak, perhaps Cedarstar or Spiritstar had information about odd fur or animals.

"We call them Prey Maulers," Cedarstar lifted his voice above the crowd. He stepped forward, looking to each of the other leaders. A bitter part of him had wanted to keep quiet. The other Clans treated them so poorly after the fire, especially ThunderClan. Cedarstar could've left them in the dark about the beasts hunting on ShadowClan territory and made them fend for themselves. Yet, there were kits in the others Clans. Kits like Longkit and Lightkit who didn't deserve the monstrosity of the Prey Maulers.
Cedarstar looked to the crowd. "Over the past moon, ShadowClan has scented strange beasts on our territory. They hunt our prey and rip them apart until only the bones are left. One of our patrols encountered them. They are like dogs, but wild and unified. They don't interact with twolegs like normal dogs do." He took a deep breath, remember how it took the two leg and it's fire stick to chase the prey Maulers off. Cedarstar looked to the other leaders, his gaze lingering a little harder on Lightningstar. "So, let this be a warning to ALL clans. The prey Maulers are not to be underestimated. Increase your border patrols for your own protection."
He paused to let his information sink in and see if the other leaders had questions.

RIVERCLAN:
Diamondheart’s eyes widened with surprise at Cedarstar’s admission, his eyes flickering with a sudden concern. Prey-maulers, who could tear apart prey like that? He thought suddenly of Earthstar, Ottermask, and Owlwhisker, out in Twolegplace with a now clearly dangerous threat. He stiffened, knowing that leaping down to gather Riverclan to head back and get their leader back was impossible. For now, he had to pray the gathering would hurry by.
THUNDERCLAN:
“What?!” Mothsong exclaimed, the existence of a new threat making her fur prickle. She looked between her clanmates, who had begun to chatter loudly.
Frostmoon gaped at Cedarstar’s description, claws extending.
SKYCLAN:
Withermist stared at Webstripe, having been silent at his previous question, but who was now beginning to bristle with a newfound unease at Cedarstar’s words, as though he could envision these creatures clearly, tearing up kits in their jaws, causing death and destruction.

SKY-
Hawkpaw shivered when Cedarstar described the new creatures, looking at Specklepaw and Sproutpaw with wide eyes, “They sound terrifying.” She said in a quiet whisper.
Whitesun flicked his ear in unease, not liking what Cedarstar had to say about the animals.
THUNDER-
Ghostscreech’s shoulder fur bristled at Cedarstar’s description of the animals, his tail flicking uneasily. The border patrols still hadn’t come across any of the strange scent or fur RiverClan had already warned them about, but if ShadowClan have had encounters with them and RiverClan has found evidence, then how long until they found their way to ThunderClan’s territory?

Spiderbite nodded. He was glad everyone in ShadowClan was okay. "What type of injuries should I expect? Do you know relative jaw size or tooth length of these maulers? If they're like dogs, I bet they bite more than claw. Do you have an idea of their jaw strength?"

If they're like dogs, I bet they bite more than claw. Do you have an idea of their jaw strength?" Opalmist was a bit strained at Spiderbite’s words. Not because of his questions, but because she had finally spotted Echowing in the far corner of the gathering place. Frostyfoot and Dreamlily had been easy to see… but seeing Whisperstone and then Echowing… all she could think about was her awful vision. Somehow, she knew that this may be the tipping point, and a pained fear was followed by a miserable acceptance. She tried to distract herself, at least for a little while longer. “The injuries are very similar to dog bites. We treated them the same way. But… they seemed to have longer teeth. Deeper bites. You have to stop the bleeding quickly, treat right away for infection.”

Snowflower uneasily side-eyed Cinderspeck, wondering if he'd seen any of the monster-dogs personally. Wishing for the comfort of her own clan, she quietly got up and pretended to check in on her elder kin.
Slatefur greeted her warmly, reading her unease. Smokestream yawned. Dogs were dogs, after all. In her day, they'd faced far worse threats.
Marshpaw's heart thudded in his chest. Barely being out of the nursery himself, he hadn't even seen battle yet. He fearfully looked at the other apprentices to see how they were reacting.

It may be wise to seek answers." Smokestream scoffed. "Have you really grown so fretful in your old age? Our warriors are tough, they can handle it." Gently, Slatefur pressed his nose to her cheek. "I'm only thinking of you. I'm sure you can outswim them, but I certainly don't think you can outrun them." She swatted her tail irritably at him, but he took it in stride. Still, she voiced no further complaint.

Lightningstar noticed Cedarstar’s lingering gaze. He twitched his ear once before looking down at his clan mates. This certainly was disturbing news. “Are they similar to foxes?” He asked, turning his gaze back to Cedarstar. “Though I’ve never heard of foxes traveling in packs.”

(just got finished with a 13.5 hour shift and am finally free for the weekend so I should be able to stay active enough to rp!)
ShadowClan:
Sunpaw sat near the cluster of apprentices, her ears pricking with interest as Cedarstar told the other clans of the prey-maulers.
Cloudflight tensed with worry at Diamondheart's announcement. It couldn't be good that the other clans were finding signs of them all the way in their separate territories, there must be more of them than she had assumed.
WindClan:
Spottedclaw shifted uncomfortably at Cedarstar's words. It's just what the clans needed, a group of savage dog-somethings attacking them right after they were nearly killed by a giant fire. StarClan sure wasn't doing a very good job of protecting them.

ShadowClan
Cedarstar flicked his ear. The memory of the Prey Maulers on their territory made his pelt prickle. He couldn't shake the picture of Hazelblaze's and Foxshadow's injuries. "They are much larger than foxes," Cedarstar raised his voice for all to be able to hear him as he addressed Lightningstar's question. "The pack that entered our territory had at least five individuals. It took several warriors to chase them out. Hazelblaze and Foxshadow were badly injured, but thanks to Snowdance and Opalmist, they'll each make a full recovery." He looked at the other leaders. "We don't know where these creatures have come from. They've mostly been on the backside of ShadowClan territory." He flicked his ear twice. "Prey is just starting to return to ShadowClan and yet, these maulers are hindering our hunting efforts. When they realize there's not enough to be caught in ShadowClan, I have no doubt they'll come for your more prey-rich territories."
SkyClan
Spiderbite fumbled a frown and glanced at Opalmist and Snowdance. So, two of their warriors were injured facing these things. He wanted to know the size of the patrol to approximate how many of his clanmates could get injured fighting these things. At least SkyClan mainly resides in the trees. If there was one good thing about their territory it was that they could travel the entire territory by tree branches and not have to worry about touching the ground. If these prey maulers are like foxes, they won't be able to climb.
WindClan
Beanpaw lowered himself to the ground. These prey maulers sounded super scary. I wonder if they go into tunnels, he thought with a shudder.
RiverClan
Frostlake's pelt bristled at Cedarstar's description. She glanced back toward RiverClan territory. Earthstar and Ottermask were out of the territory searching for information on these creatures. What if they ran into the prey maulers?
Eelshock squinted with intrigue at Cedarstar's description of the beasts. Just another reason for the Clans to come together, he sighed. As pleased as he was that Diamondheart announced RiverClan was thriving, he felt a bitter taste in the back of his mouth at the thought of these prey-maulers. He doubted he could convince the clans to work together against them, but if he could...There would be more reasons for cats to consider uniting the Clans.

Diamondheart nodded slowly at Cedarstar’s description. He needed to get every ounce of information to give to Earthstar if Riverclan were to prepare for this. He didn’t like the thought that fur from these… prey-maulers, ended up in the waters of Riverclan, seeing as Riverclan shared no border with Shadowclan. Could these creatures swim? He dreaded the possibility.
Keeping his calm as best as he could, he mewed to Cedarstar. “It’s a relief to hear your Warriors were treated so skillfully, and that nobody’s life was taken… If these prey-maulers made themselves known on Shadowclan territory, and their fur has appeared in the river all the way across to Riverclan, then perhaps they’ll be closer to streams and rivers on any of the territories… But I don’t like the implication that this fur has seemingly made its way all the way to Riverclan. Which means, they are likely poking around all of our territories already.” He fretted, internally making note to increase patrols along the river. He also made a note to tell Earthstar that Cedarstar may have just solved every question they had. Perhaps they could even work together, even with the territory distance.

Lightningstar nodded slightly as Cedarstar described the prey maulers in more detail. “I’m glad none of your warriors were killed.” He spoke. “This is definitely something all the clans need to worry about, even if you have not yet encounters them.” He spoke. “Thunderclan will be sure to let the other clans know if we start the find traces in our territory.”

What if that creature or creatures were already in Thunderclan?! SKYCLAN: “Hmph. ShadowClan & SkyClan
Fuzzypaw looked over her shoulder, giving Beanpaw what she hoped was a reassuring smile. Surely, WindClan cats would be able to outpace the beasts?
Warblerpaw's ears flattened. First the fire, then the prey shortages, then Spiritstar losing not one but two lives, and now there were "Prey-Maulers" encroaching on the territories? He bit back a growl of frustration.
WindClan & ThunderClan
Palegaze's eyes widened as he listened to Cedarstar, his eyes immediately seeking out Eclipsesky, then Beanpaw. He grit his teeth, seeing how frightened his apprentice looked. His first day out of camp, his first Gathering, and this is what he hears!
Bluewhisker's tail lashed behind her. She didn't take kindly to the idea of savage animals trying to come into the Clans' territories; though she hated to fight, she knew she'd shred every last one with her own claws to defend ThunderClan.

Wind: Eclipsesky looked at the medicine cats grimly, of course, he would leave Dawnshadow to face a new threat alone. That was just his luck.
Swiftstar's ears fell back at the mention of warriors being badly injured. He would have to speak with Sagefoot and make sure the number of cats in a patrol were being increased for safety.
Sagefoot shuddered at the description, she hoped Hazelblaze would make a full recovery, knowing she was Cherryvine's kin.
River: Sproutpaw nodded, looking at Hawkpaw. "The fur was weird! My mama went on a patrol to look for the prey-mauler but they didn't find one. Now I'm glad they didn't."
Sky: Ashfeather moved closer to Redspring and Willownose, weariness washing over him. "Yes, I'm sure Spiritstar will take extra precautions to make sure we're safe. Luckily our terrain is not as traversable as some of the other clans. These prey-maulers shouldn't have an easy time getting around."

As Blacktail stepped aside, Snowflower continued her fretting. Seeing Smokestream's weariness, she nudged her gently. "Are you feeling alright? It's a bit of a shock. I can get a medicine cat, if you need."
Smokestream bristled, but forced herself to relax. Snowflower was a genuine cat, if a worrier. "I'll be alright." With a second look at the way her grandchild's fur was bristling, she added, "And you will be too. The clans will take care of this, if it is a threat."

SKYCLAN:
Redspring nodded once to Ashfeather, glancing at Willownose before she grunted. “I’d like to see these prey-maulers try and climb as quickly as we can. We can send them tumbling down the cliffs, if we kick them hard enough, surely.”
RIVERCLAN:
Iciclestep spotted Snowflower over with her grandparents. The reserved tom padded over towards them, noticing Snowflower’s unsure demeanor. He swallowed, before mewing. “Well… at least we know what they are, now. Riverclan can work to defend against them.” He promised.
