//Applauds Skull smiling.// IT HAS HAPPENED.
Also first post here yay! I also have a question! While I am happy with my art I've never been able to communicate... uh, how'd you put it, motion in comics I guess? I can sit down and draw characters who look in motion, but in one big scene which takes a lot of time and effort. In other words, I've foudn myself able to draw illustrations for writing, not comics, but one day I'd like to do a comic in the traditional sense! Do you have any tips or suggestions for that? c:

I do like page 50 panel 1 how Yinpaw's white fur that covers her right eye makes a Yin Yang shape, it's really cool.

In other words, I've foudn myself able to draw illustrations for writing, not comics, but one day I'd like to do a comic in the traditional sense! Do you have any tips or suggestions for that? c: I'm not sure I understand... so I'll answer both questions I think I'm getting Motion, like moving and walking and actual action going on for characters? The best thing to do is look up reference images. Get used to drawing just a generic cat (or whatever you're drawing) and once you've got it down, add the details that make it your character. Of course, always look back at reference images! If you want a specific pose, look it up, and (don't copy directly, just use it for inspiration) get even better! Put into motion, like starting up a comic? Well, I always say that one of the most important things is to have your story sorted out as much as you can before you start. Script it like a play if you want, or just write an outline, or both (I do both). But have the story worked all out before you begin, so you won't be stuck at a certain point and not know what to do. Another important thing is to like what you do, so you don't get bored or lose inspiration. As I've said so many time, convince yourself 100% that your story is worth telling and that people want to read it. That's what keeps me going. And if you can't do that, make yourself have one specific point that you want to get to, a big reveal, a huge plot twist, whatever, and if you ever feel like giving up, say to yourself "But wait, I'll never get to get to that big moment if I give up now!" and then you'll want to keep going! I hope I answered these well enough for you! If I didn't please let me know and I'll try to do more!

Ah thank you! The first one is sorta what I meant, but not entirely. I'm explaining things badly sorry aha. cx Basically certain artists who do comics, yourself included, have a very nice paneling style - everything fits nicely together and the story "flows" from picture to picture- including speech bubbles, some text on the images, backgrounds, ect. However, whenever I try making a comic what deters me is paneling and formatting, somehow it doesn't ever feel natural/fitting. The closest I have got are one-panel per page comics, or, like with the story I'm working on now, pages-with-writing, which is essentially a story with illustrations minus some description and some speech bubbles/text are on the iamges. That works fine for this story in particular, but one day I want to have, like a said, a traditional type comic, and I'm wondering how you developed your style or paneling/formatting! ^u^

That works fine for this story in particular, but one day I want to have, like a said, a traditional type comic, and I'm wondering how you developed your style or paneling/formatting! ^u^ ohhhhhhhh okay! Hmm... well this is a bit harder to answer cause honestly, I just wing it. It's built out of nearly a decade of making comics... For my first... like four of them, I had small pages with a dividing line in the middle, making it two panels per page. But as my comics lengthened and the story/dialogue became more complex, and my style changed, I made it into more of a i dunno... comic book looking panel progression. Sometimes I do panels out of what I need to get done on the page? If that makes sense? Like, if there's a lot of dialogue, like for page 63, theres a bunch of smaller panels. But for something with more movement and action, like in pages 38 and 42, there are larger panels. I guess that is kind of an explanation? I guess when I have a cool background to showcase, I usually have either the whole page as the background, as with page 1 or page 35, or have just one other panel, like with page 50. I'm sorry this can't be more helpful! It's honestly 'cause, like I said, I wing it most of the time. Maybe try looking at those 'how to draw comics' books? There's one that I have by Marvel comics that says some cool stuff about action scenes and they might have tips on how to lay out panels.

This comic is beautiful! The backgrounds are just magnificent and I love your individual art style. The expressions of the cats just make me jealous, they're so on point! I really love this comic and want to hear more of it ( Or should I say see? ) But anyways, this is great. I really want to hear more about Skullstripe's affair with Fawnspots, because those cliffhangers just make me want more. Congrats on your progress by the way throughout the years! Thank you, sorry I forgot to respond to this earlier I just missed it! Anyway, thank you for recognizing my backgrounds! I love to do them, so I appreciate it! Or at least, I love to do them when they're interesting and not just caves lol And wow you are just pointing out all my favorite things! I also love doing expressions! I think they can really add to a comic and make it just a little better! So yeah, thanks my dude!

Hawktalon, I love what you're saying about practicing and improvement and fixing your problems, because it is all so true. I've had my comic for... a long time. I really don't know how long I've worked on it. I have redone the first pages so many times that I've lost count, and I officially posted the current version in October. So long ago! But when you look at my pages, you can actually see the improvement, because in the time between when I posted the pages, I practiced, and talked to people about what to improve on, and looked at all your art to see what I was missing (because it is just so dang awesome). Take one of the characters, Mistwing, for example: ![](http://i.imgur.com/Lqa2XJL.png) ![](http://i.imgur.com/SC1f25O.png) ![](http://i.imgur.com/KxuwFrm.png) ![](http://i.imgur.com/cl8h6Z3.png) The first one is of the very first comic, then two of the first couple pages, and then last in the page I'm working on now. You can see how much my style has changed and how much effort has been put into them. I have learned so much just practicing, and I just wanted to let you know, Hawktalon, that you are totally my inspiration. I love reading your comics and seeing you give all this advice, because it's like (no offense) "they once had terrible art. It took a lot of work and practice for them to get this good, so I can too." You deserve one of your gold stars ⭐️! Also, I just wanted to let everyone know that I still have to put a ton of work into my pages to get them to look the way they do. Like what Mintedstar/fur said, it just takes practice.

Ohmygosh this is actually making me tear up a bit my dude aaaaa You're so nice and this is so heartfelt and wow you've improved so much!!! And yes, it's part of improving that one has to accept that once their art was terrible, but but they've grown so much since then! I took a look through your comic and I can really see where I inspired you! It's super cool! I love the bushes in the last pic btw, they really add so much to make an environment even though it's only one small part! That really shows how far you've come! I'm so glad to be your inspiration! Keep on doing what you're doing!

Due to the recent influx of people coming to me for advice, I'd just like to put out there that I totally don't mind at all, getting questions! I'm somewhat of an authority on comics, so I guess I know what I'm talking about lol. If you're planning on starting a comic, you have one running and need advice on how to continue, or you want advice on your art or story... anything my dudes! I am always happy to help! And, if, like FåwnFrøst , you've been inspired by me and would like to show off how far you've come in your art or comic, by all means do so! I'd love to see it! The most important thing to remember is that talent isn't innate, you aren't born a good artist. Everyone is born with the opportunity to be a good artist, you just have to work hard to bring it out. i also give out gold stars but only on mobile. if you want one, catch me on mobile and just ask!

im late to the improvement party but i had to hop in too warning for possibly huge images believe it or not, all three of the following images are the same character ![](http://i68.tinypic.com/y2jdg.png) December 14, 2015 (ms paint, mouse) ![](http://i63.tinypic.com/rbywrc.png) January 31, 2016 (ms paint, mouse) ![](http://oi67.tinypic.com/2mzzex5.jpg) June 2017 (traditional; crappy webcam edition) from a furry humanoid to a tired human with an eyepatch to a younger tired human with an eyepatch and burn scars (and minus the luxurious mane of red hair), aidri has been with me for ages. a character i came up with in a dream, whose story i've been trying to tell for ages. the story itself gone through a ton of changes, and so has she, but that's natural. stories change, characters change, people change. you change. and your art will change accordingly. the point: you will get better. just keeping drawing. keep reading, both comics and stories. keep writing. keep living. gain experience. see how other people do it: draw, write, live. copy their techniques (but not their art!). mess around with style, with medium. you'll draw things you hate, things you think look terrible or ridiculous. that's fine. keep going! just remember to enjoy yourself. don't agonize over how your art compares to others'. don't try to create something you think people will like. don't try to follow some formula to success. do and create things that you enjoy personally. draw and write crazy things, things that sound ridiculous in theory, and make them work in practice. write your own story, even if it seems a lot like a story that's already been told. tell it your way. give it your own loving spin. just make sure you're having fun. the moment it starts to feel like work, like toil, step back, take a break, do something fun, then come back. be passionate about what you do. tell the story you want to tell the way you want to tell it. you'll keep changing, your work will keep changing, and it'll be amazing to look back and see how far you've come. that's all i really have to say other than a big thank you to Hawktalon, for being a huge inspiration!!

well I just showed my mom my comics for the first time (in seven years it's kind of weird showing her all this stuff now) and i even gave her the link to Skyfall, which she says she'll read tomorrow
i'm excited also cause I got to show her all my improvement pages and a few speedpaints and like, even if she doesn't understand, she's still supporting me? idk I just like that
in other news, a page tomorrow, probably!
