Blackfire came to a stop once they had reached the ThunderClan border and turned to face the ThunderClan warriors, “Here we are. Get back safely now. I hope everything turns out alright.” She mewed, looking at the injured loner. She had sent Withermist and Springpaw back to the SkyClan camp with the prey, having wanting to see the ThunderClan patrol back to the border safely.

Bluewhisker dipped her head respectfully to Blackfire before stepping back into the familiar forests of ThunderClan.

Blackfire watched as the patrol disappeared into the trees before turning and making her way back to camp. (*poofs everyone back to their respective camps*)

Whitesun came to a stop once he had reached the ThunderClan border, his tail flicking back and forth as he thought over how he should let this play out. After a moment, he turned to Dreamlily and Pheasantcry, “We’ll wait a couple minutes and see if a border patrol comes by soon. If they don’t come, then we’re just going to have to risk it and make a run for ThunderClan’s camp. I don’t want to delay any longer than we already have.” He said.

Cloudysky padded alongside his patrol, he frowned though when he caught a trail of fresh Thunderclan scent. He peered around the tree-line surprised to see Whitesun and his small patrol standing there at the border. The usually quiet tom stepped forward dipping his head in greeting, "The patrol from the twolegplace just returned. What business do you have at our border again so soon?"

Sootpaw blinked at the SkyClan cats, wondering what they were doing so close to the border.
Whitesun looked up at the sound of Cloudysky’s voice, glad that they didn’t have to wait that long. “I’m sorry, but there isn’t any time for pleasantries. Some of the prey that was brought back from the Twolegplace has been poisoned.” Whitesun said urgently, his yellow gaze meeting Cloudysky’s. “You mustn’t let any of your clanmates eat any of that prey!”

“It’s urgent. Life-threatening. Your clanmates could die if they eat too much.” Dreamlily urged, not wanting to beat around the bush with such a serious threat.

Cloudysky tensed at the news, looking at Sootpaw in shock. "Life-threatening? Have you lost some of your clanmates from this prey? Is there any way to tell that it's different?"

"We..." Dreamlily tensed, knowing that the answer would be complicated. They technically lost Spiritstar. She couldn't risk losing the seriousness of the situation, so she looked once at Whitesun before mewing tersely. "Very close to losing many of our clanmates. Enough that we need to warn you, now. We can't waste time!"

Sootpaw looked at Cloudysky in shock. The prey had been poisoned? “I-I can run ahead and tell everyone to no eat anything!” He offered, his tail flicking in worry.
“If you’ll allow it, we can come with you and show you what to look out for.” Whitesun said, his tail flicking, “There isn’t enough time to just tell you.”

Cloudysky nodded, "Right, Sootpaw... Run ahead. Get to camp as fast as you can and stop everyone from eating. We'll be right behind you. Please." he mewed, stepping back to allow the Skyclan patrol to step over the border. "Follow me."

Sootpaw nodded frantically and took off at top speed, his heart practically beating out of his chest.
Whitesun hurried after Cloudysky.

Pheasantcry quickly followed the others, thankful that ThunderClan was willing to have them enter their territory. This trust could save lives.

RiverClan Border
Raindrops fell from Earthstar's whiskers. He stood along the edge of the bank, keeping his head high but fur flat as to not intimidate Alder when the loner showed up. At least, Earthstar hoped he would show - from what he heard about the stranger, his uncanny healing skills could be a tremendous asset to RiverClan. He glanced between Ivymask and Salmonsplash in anticipation.
Salmonsplash sat and tapped his tail along the muddy ground. If Alder didn't show up, he didn't know if he could face Earthstar's disappointment. He saw firsthand how excellently Ivymask's leg was bandaged - he was no medicine cat, but anyone could see the skill behind it!

Alder let out a nervous breath as he approached the point he’d met Ivymask and Salmonsplash. Unfamiliar cat scent drifted toward him, and he appraised it carefully. No fear-scent tickled his nose, so he drew closer still. He reached the territory boundary and flicked his ears to the sound of cats up ahead.

Ivymask turned her head as she heard approaching pawsteps and scented a familiar scent. Standing to her paws, she mewed quickly. "Looks like he's here. Thank Starclan, this rain has been a thorn in the side." She lifted her tail and called clearly. "Alder? We've brought our leader to meet you."

Alder’s orange ear flicked at the sound of a familiar voice. He cautiously approached, coming into the area where the cats had gathered. Seeing a new face among the familiar, he bobbed his head respectfully. “Thank you for meeting with me. My name is Alder. I’ve heard great things about your clan.”
Though he was already a small cat, he kept his legs tucked close as he sat to keep himself small. Though Ivymask and Salmonsplash had seemed like respectable cats, he wanted to assure this leader that he meant no offense in crossing onto this territory.

Salmonsplash waved his tail in friendly greeting. He wanted to prove to Alder that their original encounter was a misunderstanding.
Earthstar eyed Alder once he could see him approach. The loner looked small and unassuming, but he knew that medicine cats often showed their true colors only when the situation called for it. "It's nice to meet you. My name is Earthstar. I am the leader of RiverClan." he ducked his head, rain dripping off of his fur. "I hear that there was an altercation at this border, but you helped my Clanmate out even when we treated you harshly. I must thank you for that."

The tips of his ears flushed as he remembered how the clan cats had caught him stealing. “Ah, yes,” he replied, embarrassed, “I truly didn’t know I was taking herbs from your clan, so I’d like to apologize again. I’m just glad I was able to help Ivymask.”
Raindrops were beginning to soak into his short pelt. “How’s your injury? Have you been taking care of it?”

"It's feeling much better. Whatever you did, you did it perfectly." Ivymask nodded her approval with a gruff yet genuine meow. She held up her healing leg, still healing, but doing so quickly thanks to Alder's quick work on it. She looked at Alder, and then at Earthstar.

Earthstar flicked his ear as he listened. Humble as well. He clearly didn't trespass with ill intent, he thought to himself. "If I may ask, where did you learn to heal? I've never met a loner with as much knowledge in herbs as you. Our medicine cats train for moons to learn how to cure others. I assume Ivymask and Salmonsplash told you about medicine cats, yes?"

“They did,” he nodded. “My mother was gifted with herbs, healing anything from a cough to a cut, and she passed the knowledge along to me. She always said not enough cats knew how to help themselves, and that it was important to treat those we came across and to pass the knowledge along. I’m not sure who it was that taught her.”

My siblings and I stayed pretty close, for loners anyways,” he took a moment to think, “I haven’t ever had the chance to pass along my knowledge to strange cats before, but I have helped pass it along to my younger siblings. Whether it was showing them plants as we hunted, or bringing them out to stock what our mother needed for leafbare. I would think this might be similar to your clan, though on a much smaller scale.” |

Earthstar hummed in response. It sounded like he had the potential to successfully teach Quietpaw. "Our current medicine cat still has a lot to learn. If you think you could forward your knowledge to him, then that would be ideal." he nodded. "There is another important aspect of being a Clan's medicine cat, however. Do you feel any connection with the outside world?" Earthstar questioned, glancing up at the cloudy sky. The leader knew that only one connection to StarClan was enough, but Alder's answer could determine if he could easily learn their ways. "I suppose I should ask another way. Do you ever have... peculiar dreams? When you look up into a clear night sky, do you feel anything?"
Salmonsplash looked between the two and Ivymask. Would Alder be willing to leave his life behind for theirs?

“It’s… funny you should ask. Last night I dreamt of a cat with stars in her fur. She led me a long ways before vanishing into a stream.” Alder hesitated to use the word river, not wanting to make himself too forward. “And if I’m being honest, I don’t believe in coincidence. Whatever drew me out here, even if all it was was that I was meant to help Ivymask, I believe there was intention in it.”

Earthstar perked slightly at the mention of a starry cat in Alder's dreams, though he didn't want to make it obvious. "A starry cat..." he murmured, looking between Ivymask and Salmonsplash with a knowing glance. Had he met with a StarClan cat? Could this be a sign? "That could very well be the case. What did this cat look like? Did she introduce herself?" Who could this have been? Specklecreek? Streampool? Rain?

Ivymask also perked up at the mention of Alder’s dream again, her eyes gleaming with a hint of “I told you so”, as she looked knowingly at her leader.
