At those words, Charles only tensed further. His brow furrowed deeper and he frowned. The dust that hung in the air made him want to shower, brush his teeth, maybe even throw up to clean out his insides. Imagining entire roomfuls of trash.... There was a deep dread that filled him, the kind of anxiety one gets right before they become really anxious.
"Calm down, you child." Scarlett scolded him aloud, and clapped a hand over her mouth the instant the words left her mouth. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean that." She glanced towards Newt. "Thank you, Newt, for sharing information with us, even though we're new and probably can't help you much." She played with the fabric at the top of her skirt, scrunching and unscrunching the black cloth in her fists.
Are you seriously going to pull that card on me, Scarlett?! Charles scowled at her, then looked away, resigned. Those words were probably meant for him, as a means to guilt him into helping Newt. She knew how much he hated burdening others. That this stranger shared information with us, and Charles hadn't wanted to repay him.... Charles would have been in debt. "Alright," he spoke up finally, "let's get started on looking for your case." He tried at a relaxed face, controlling his breathing and attempting to let his expression ease into one that wasn't anger.
"What? You sure?" Scarlett raised an eyebrow and turned. She, in fact, hadn't tried to manipulate him at all. Certainly in Charles's life, Scarlett Eyler had used plenty of psychological tricks on him, but those memories felt distant and frankly separate from her current self. It was as if she were a new version of herself, here in this museum. No, this was the first version of herself. The previous one was just too warped by Charles's perceptions. Now that Scarlett had her own body, she could truly make an existence of herself.
"Yeah, don't worry about it," reassured Charles. He turned his head to Newt. "Uhh, any defining features about your case that we can notice?"

There seemed to be several exchanges between Scarlett and Charles that flew over Newt's head. It wasn't the telepathic ones, it was the ones where they clearly had more background history with each other than they did with him. He didn't try to influence either of them for or against helping him. Instead, he just seemed pleasantly surprised when Charles swallowed down his intense discomfort and dipped his head. "It is appreciated," he admitted. "We do not have to enter the main part of Museum yet. Though I can't promise part of these halls will not get dirtier. But they'll probably be less so." He looked down one of the off-shoot hallways and nodded at it. "I don't know where to look for the case. So that might be as good as any." When he put it like that, it sounded hopeless. But then he looked back and explained to Scarlett and Charles, "It's brown, bulky, and looks like it has been many places. It has gold clasps which come undone easily." It was the best description which he could think to give. The case was meant to be unassuming. So it wasn't exactly like it wasn't already something like an impossible task. But did they have something better to do? They had to search for a way out just like him.

Rudy blinked, okay, the detective agreed to go along with his naive and possibly half potential of an option? He stood there briefly dumbfounded. He herd the other kid's answer, but he didn't seem to physically register it. At least until he flinched, a means to snap out of his own surfaced stupidity.
"Aright then, let's try this." Rudy mustered some words after his brief baffle. He took a step onto the platform inspecting the feet, then the wall aroud him. He stopped a few inches away from the footsteps, then knelt down. On the floor he ran a gentle hand along the ground. He ran his fingers around the footsteps, feeling the surface. He proceeded to duckwalk away from the foosteps, still running his fingers along the ground, to where the platform branches into the hall he was standing into previously. There appeared to be no difference in the ground.
With the possibility of a false surface debunked, shooting down his own curiosity, he proceeded to the wall itself. He ran a hand against the wall now, kneeling down to feel the wall touch the surface. He noticed that there wasn't a dent there, but initially he didn't think too much about it.
He stood up once again pulling out the chalk in his pocket. He wondered about where to draw. So with that in mind he scooted back and stood on the footprints which were naturally bigger then him. From there he took steps forward to get a poor center as to where the door should go. With that in mind he walked up to the wall, and started to draw from the left, starting from the floor and proceeding up high until he couldn't go higher on his toes, then he proceeded to make the round arch, coming downwards on his right. He finished the drawing, then stepped back.
Nothing happened.
Rudy blinked, crossing his arms. "Some doors in chalkzone have to be more specific.." He recalled a few other ocassions. "Depending where you are, or where you are aiming to land in." He approached the now drawn door, then hovered the chalk over the internal of the door, trying to picture where he should shade in. At the same time he looked at the floor, took a step back then glanced at the footprints on the ground. "J-Just to be safe.." Rudy approached the wall, drawing where the ground started a line, all the way across the platform to where the hallway was. He then drew a parallel line, from the hall all the way to the wall. Next, he shaded in between the two lines, shading over the footsteps as well. From there he continued shading up the wall, using the non curbed floor, filling in the drawn door from a frontward perspective.
When the shading completed, Rudy took a step back.
Nothing happened.
Rudy was optimistic , but seeing nothing happen was a big defeat. He turned to see Conan about to apologize for even bringing it up, until his ears herd white noise coming from behind him. He turned quickly, seeing the area that was drawn on the wall slowly disappear, leading into an opening that revealed a hallway on the other side. The other side of the wall was brightly colored, similar to that of a particular light gradient animation.
Following soon after, the ground where the footprints were was starting to disappear, with the exception of the area that was sketched in, now becoming a bridge from the hall to the drawn door. To the side of the of drawn bridge, it was easily seen that down below was an endless abyss.
"O-Okay something happened." Rudy softly brought up in disbelief. He had never seen the chalk react outside of certain surfaces.

AuranskyWatching Rudy walk around, removing much of the dust in the process. He wasn't sure what he expected, but after the first attempt with the door he'd already assumed that this wasn't going to be the answer. In this place, it might be a while before he figured it out. But she still let Rudy poke around with his chalk and outline what he wanted, watching as he did. The picture got more detailed when Rudy started shading it in, but it still didn't seem to do much for all of it. "It's fine," he said, when nothing happened for the second time. The words weren't really apologetic as much as they were accepting the facts and those facts were that there was no way that this would have worked. The words were hardly out of his mouth before he had to try and eat them. Because Rudy was right. Something had happened. Conan looked over the outline which had suddenly turned into a door and a bridge. "That's ..." He wasn't sure what he was going to say, but settled on a grudging, "Impressive." He took a couple steps forward and looked over the edge into the endless abyss. Yep ... seemed pretty endless. He backed up several steps again. "Through there then?" he asked, nodding at the door. "After you." He wasn't sure if there were ... rules ... to walking through door which hadn't been there before. He was willing to let Rudy try it first.

Rudy blinked in disbelief to the sudden appearance of a new door. The other side of the doorway appeared more brightly , with neon colors and almost sketched-similar to a vibrant Seattle he'd seen on TV.
He turned his head , when Conan offered he go first. Initially , the detective was taking lead but now giving him then chance to lead was very sureal. He hesitated for a moment , before slowly dragging his feet forward. "Sure." He softly commented , pressing forward. He made his way past the doorway , and I'm the otherwise everything was neon , vibrant colorful-art style, sketched, all across the halls on both sides. The floor was also colored in, with occasionally sketched that would appear in the blacktop playgrounds by other kids.
Rudy walked on, cautious in what he stepped on but hearing no response , it seemed like everything was just drawings, images, sketches. "Is this what you meant by strange?" He asked , referring to the museum coming to life.
"This reminds me of an exhibit where they let everyone take part. Every style is different." He couldn't help but observe.

Carefully, Conan continued after Rudy. When he made it to where the other boy was looking, he couldn't help but agree. He looked over the brightly colored walls and couldn't help but be confused. Why was this here? He supposed it made sense though. It was museum like to have a place like this somewhere. Whatever it was, he didn't know where they were. And this place wasn't exactly accessible. But here it was anyway, and he wasn't even certain if it was part of the Museum or it it was some construct that Rudy's drawing had created. "Ever seen anything like this before?" he asked. At least if he knew whether or not Rudy had anything to do with the appearance of this place he would be able to figure out whether this place related to it. "You don't suppose that the set of footprints led here in some way?" The question wasn't so much directed at Rudy as it was directed at himself. He really wasn't sure what to make of this place. Other than the fact it was brightly colored, it still looked odd enough that he wasn't even sure where to begin.

Rudy turned his head back, "kinda.." He softly replied. " i mean , chalkzone is similar, in terms of a drawn out wprld, but here. " he took another step , using the tip of his toe to brush the floor. It seemed like nothing out of the ordinary, compared to what he was expecting , the floor wasn't going to run off, thankfully.
"I'm not sure if they came this way. It just seemed like something possible , seeing as the other options were cleaned , in terms of direction. But , we have had a case of two where Someone wanders into chalkzone, and the trail stops at the entrance. SO it kinda brought a nostalgic feeling." He lightly chuckled
" but , there's no better way to figure out an answer, then by checking it out. "He encouraged. He tried to excite himself. There was no need to fret over the unknown. "Well, let's just see what we can get out of this, and there is nothing then we just turn around."

"Well, let's just see what we can get out of this, and there is nothing then we just turn around." "I see," Conan said, probably for the third time. At least this time he understood Rudy's thought process a bit better now. That didn't make their current location any better. It was still too brightly colored and too ... weird. But Rudy seemed comfortable and Conan wasn't going to be the odd one out. So he pushed his reservations to the back of his mind. He nodded once and then slowly started walking forward. For now, he was just going to study the walls and the floor and see if he could pick up any sign that someone else had been there. "I wonder if we're even still in the Museum," he mused quietly. If they were, he was surprised Sable still hadn't spoken up at all. The shadow of a person and their host had been very quiet as of late. "That direction?" he inquired, pointing to what looked like a branch off of there current path. Just more brightly colored. He wondered if a branching path in this kind of would would even function. He kept seeing this place as an optical illusion of a two dimensional world.

Comfortable was half of it. While this reality, drawn up the world was similar to ChalkZone, it was vastly different. The artstyle-or in his case the world he was used to visiting was more lively and exagerated here. Furthermore, every step they took had a puddle like an effect, with pink paint splashing but not staining on their clothes.
"O-Oh Right!" Rudy flinched, as he proceeded walking through the hall. He had forgotten for a moment that they were still in the museum. Despite this area looking vastly different than the rest of the way. Good thing Conan brought that up. At the end of the hall, there was a wooden frame, with a map of the area or at least partial.
Rudy noticed the frame but was unable to tell what it was exactly. The only way to tell was to approach it. "If it's not a map, it's probably a bulletin board." He suggested. "But bulletin boards are just as helpful. They usually have notices, mentions, and announcements to the area around it. In this case, well here."
The wooden frame at the end of the hall was indeed a map. A map that marked where they were, in a bright rainbow dot. The hallway they had just walked down, was labeled the main path. Taking the right would continue the main path, then branch off into crystal showers. Whereas the trail on the left was called rocket trail. Along the rocket trail, there was three other paths that branched off from the rocket trail. The first one was ocean, the second one was jellybean farm, and the last one was 'X'd off with a large red marker.

"Yes, they're rather captivating," Vincent remarked, glancing towards the wall at the many artifacts that hung on display there. Though the conversation lapsed then for a moment, Vincent felt no awkwardness at the silence, as if it were filled with something else—maybe an appreciation for the items hung on the wall. Not that it really interested Vincent at all, but they were an interesting sight. Something he could understand. The brief pause in discussion was merely a second or two long. When Saint-Germain spoke again, it caught the boy off-guard. Vincent blinked. "Before I say anything," he began, a smile beginning to touch upon his expression, "which path did you choose?" A soft chuckle of embarrassment came from the count and he flashed a sheepish grin. "My answer for that question happens to be the same as my previous response: I do not know quite yet," he said. Saint-Germain crossed his arms and turned to face up ahead where the hallway turned. "I was intrigued by whoever left this note behind, and felt that I would like to pick his mind for any answers before making a final decision," he explained.

Henry hovered around Sally as she looked around, peeking over her shoulder and inspecting whatever she happened to let her gaze linger upon. He nodded a couple of times as he listened to her speak. "Uh-huh, that kinda makes sense... since I met you when I first woke up, and you were already here..." he murmured, then getting distracted by a couple of books stacked on their side atop a small nightstand. His hand reached out for one and he grabbed it, wincing in preparation for the reaction that never came. "Huh." He picked up the other with care only to be met with nothing yet again. Sally's voice brought his attention reeling back in and he turned around to face her, eyes widening at the flaming sword. "Whoa! That's so cool!" he said, trotting over. "You can use it to stab people and light the way! I'll have to bring this up to Robin later!" he exclaimed. Elsewhere in the museum, Robin shuddered. "It's useful," she agreed. "But I wouldn't exactly say that it's safe just to pick things up. As far as I can tell, however, the tamer stuff is actually in the hallway and all the unknown things are in the main part of the Museum. At least they were. I'm starting to think that we weren't the first to look through this stuff. Some people already did the work of getting some of the useful items together." She nodded at the collection of items. "What sort of book did you fine?" Sally changed the subject again. She personally didn't want to talk to much about the sword and give him ideas. But she did hook it to her belt, surprised when the flames disappeared as soon as she did. "The main part of the museum? Ooh! I wanna see that!" Henry chirped with a wide grin, bouncing on his heels a bit. He snuck one last peek at the sword As Sally put it away and then looked down at the book he'd taken. "Oh, this? You know, I'm not really sure. It looked old, and I just saw the purple cover and grabbed it, heehee~" He traced a finger over the front cover and flipped it open to leaf through a few pages. "Oho! And it's in a language I can't read! That must mean it's some kind of dark magic!"

And I would rather not have to almost die or get very hurt for curiosity just yet." She waved around at the collection of junk - or rather items - around them. "This probably is enough without having to worry about such things." Her tone was a bit dry. She leaned forward, looking at the book and catching a glimpse of some of the writing. "Possibly." She didn't like how excited he sounded at the prospect. "Or maybe it's a cookbook from another world and you just can't read it because of that. Can you even do dark magic?" She hoped the answer was no.

The first one was ocean, the second one was jellybean farm, and the last one was 'X'd off with a large red marker. A map or a bulletin board? Conan found that suspiciously helpful. Too much so. He wasn't sure what to do about it after all this time. He was hesitant to approach. There had already been several taps before. What if this was one as well? But he couldn't think that far. Instead, he followed after Rudy and hoped that things would be alright. Maybe, just maybe, Rudy was right and what the board said or showed would be helpful. And if it wasn't - if it was a trap - then it would be better if he was there to protect Rudy. Though he wasn't sure if he would be able to. The map, for that was what Conan could see it was, wasn't as helpful as he had been hoping for. He looked at each title for the locations on the map and his lips parted as he tried to figure out what was going on. "The X'd out part ... we need to go there," he said. He didn't look at Rudy when he said it. But it didn't leave room for much speculation.

oh sweet!! I’ll just toss her in a random hallway)
Misaki had lost track of her companions once again, sometime during their flight from the sentient suit of armor. She wasn’t sure how long she’d been on her own now, but then again, she was used to being on her own. It didn’t particularly bother her. Although she wouldn’t mind a companion - it was a big place, and being dead was lonely.
But in the meantime, she could be found stubbornly combing through each pile of trash, room by room, brow furrowed in determination as she searched for ‘Freedom’. She wasn’t even sure what she was supposed to be looking for - the item had come with no description. But it was special somehow, so she’d probably know it when she saw it.
“Ah...!”
She pulled her hand back, wincing as she realized too late that she’d brushed it against a sharp edge. Blinking rapidly against the pain, she pressed her hand against her skirt to stem the bleeding and looked again - the object was a broken lamp. She’d have to be more careful where she dug.
