Hey, Great thing about me, I never get writers block. My head is full of great ideas. You have writers block? Give me a summary of what you have written so far, and I'll get back to you on some things you could write about.

My problem is more lack of motivation than needing ideas. I know exactly what's going to happen and I got tons of ideas for HOW I'm going to write it, but sometimes I pull up the story and I stare at the screen for a good hour before I give up.
Got any tips for me?

Got any tips for me? Maybe put some music on. I always write with music. Whenever you zone out, you just listen and the music will bring you back. It also can give you some inspiration. I always write with music.

I do that. Music is a big thing for me when it comes to getting my head into my story. But I notice that like most human beings, if I'm listening to music on youtube, I will be drawn to other videos and steer away from my writing. I've tried separating the source of my music from my computer, but I find myself drawn to other things. (This is probably why I will never be able to make novel writing my main profession. I get too distracted.)
So, how would you prepare yourself for JUST writing? Getting into the mindset of your characters in your story in a way. I know music can help, but what else?

I use spotify, not youtube.
Um, maybe (if you're only using your computer,) try having only whatever you're writing on out, as well as a radio or something. If you don't have that, try spotify. Its free. Basically radio with every single song besides taylor swift.

A music tip for writing is, if you want to describe a scene in the story, put on classical music that addresses that emotion and then describe th feeling of the music.

Sometimes, I hope everyone does this all the time, really tunnel into your characters emotions and put yourself in their shoes, or paws.

a good tip is to make playlists on emotions.
like if you have a angsty, darker story, go ahead and plop some black dahlia murder or marilyn manson or some other generally angry bands/artists.
happy? make a playlist of some lighthearted fall out boy, upbeat pop songs, whatever meets your fancy.
sad? definitely add in the tracks that make you feel sad. that'll definitely help in the long run.
if anyone needs any song suggestions to add, feel free to hit me up! i'm the music gal who definitely knows her stuff x3
but my question is, how do have a story idea, and then sit down to write it, and then keep that motivation going?

I keep my motivation going by thinking about how many of my fans that are relying on me to post a new chapter. It helps if you know you have time, but don't feel like writing it, PROMISE every person who's reading your fic that you WILL post the next chapter in, uh, two days maybe?
