“The only one I look after is Peter.” Icarus murmured, barely responding with a curt nod at the part about looking for the boy, and elected to completely ignore the part about seeming alone. His eyes narrowed again, partly from curiosity but mostly from a deep-seated mistrust. “How do you know my name, or that I have a translator?” He didn’t bother asking how he knew Peter. Quite a lot of people knew him, due to his intrinsic friendly nature. The brothers were mirror opposites.
“I think that would be a very good thing. We could use more people like that here.” Peter responded, trying to sound encouraging. He wasn’t sure how much good Ibis could do, and seriously doubted that stars would help anyone, but he didn’t want to disappoint him with those thoughts. The poor creature needed to rest and relax in order to get better, and getting him sad or upset would only serve as a hindrance.

Ibis nodded, giving a yawn. "I like helping creatures. I just wish..." he yawned again, his eyes slowly closing. "I wish I could've... saved my family..." his last words were a mumble as he closed his eyes. "Thank you..."

Cloud shrugged and played it off. "Peter told me. Said you two were some kind of space aliens from some far off world." He worried about telling Icarus the truth. Having the soldier go jumping into the lake was probably a bad idea. It was likely safer to tell Peter first. "I'm just trying to make this place better for all the residents. And for as much as you seem to hate it here, Peter loves it. So I want it to be something you could love one day too." He gave a serious look to Icarus. "When you were trained, did they teach you to do everything solo? Or as a squad?"

Peter kept the smile on his face until he watched Ibis’ eyes close, and the expression faltered. A stab of pain went through his chest and he turned away, arms crossed and gaze downcast. He tried not to think too much about his family, and hearing Ibis’ story was a painful reminder of some particularly traumatic experiences. Peter was dealing with it a lot better than Icarus; mostly because he deliberately put it out of mind, while Icarus had a bad habit of dwelling on things.
There was a slight twitch of Icarus’ face, followed by a breathy huff of near amusement. “Something like that…” He didn’t feel like explaining Arcania. A slight scowl washed over his features and he turned aside, giving the castle an accusatory glance. “He only loves it because he doesn’t know any better. This place can’t go even a single day without someone shedding blood.” The question regarding Icarus’ training was entirely unexpected and he turned to Cloud suddenly. “I was an air scout. We worked in pairs, with our partners stationed on the ground.” That was the whole reason he’d gotten the wings, along with the surgical alteration to his eyes. It was a lowly job but it had allowed him to work closely with a certain someone.

Cloud inwardly sighed. At least he believed the bluff about Peter. "This place isn't perfect, no where is. But for a lot of people, it's all they have." He listened carefully to Carus' explanation. He wondered partly what it was like to train with someone that closely, to be able to trust them without fault. But then he paused... was that why Carus couldn't trust anyone else? "Then why do you insist on doing this alone? You can't be the best version of yourself that way. Even if you can't do it yet, at least think about others. Try to find someone who in the worst case scenario, will be there for you."

Icarus stared past Cloud at the treeline without actually seeing the forest. His mind wandered back to years past, when he believed that Arcania was the safest place in the universe. That was before he ascended through the ranks and saw firsthand what the government and lead scientists were truly up to. It hadn’t been long after that that he discovered his brother’s mutant powers. Everything he knew and took comfort in had been utterly stripped away from him in about three month’s time, and he’d never once felt safe or secure since then. He could never go back, and this place would never be home; of that, he was certain. During those times, he’d quickly learned to not place his trust in anyone. The only person to remain loyal, and never do anything to break his trust, was dead. Even Peter could never come close to healing that void or obtaining that level of trust. His eyes hardened suddenly. “My brother is all that matters now. I couldn’t care any less about anyone else, and that’s never going to change.” Came Icarus’ frigid reply.

Cloud sighed, and scratched the back of his neck. "Then I truly hope that the day never comes, when you can't be there for him."He was pretty certain now, about not telling Carus. "If you could say anything to those you've lost, what would you tell them?" He looked up at the sky, a single drop of water hitting his cheek. It rolled down almost like a tear. "I'd tell them thank you.. For getting me this far."

Kiba gave a quick nod and walked back to the castle. As he passed Berserker he decided it would be a fun idea to poke him in the backside with the tip of the sword. Kiba knew doing this would get him in trouble but he thought this was just to good to pass up.

"Not everyone can step the boundaries of time like you."  Raja listened to the explanation and ended up raising an eyebrow. Definitely not what he expected. "And what about her mother?" He asked while point at Morgan.
"Pointing rude you know?" Morgan said and stepped to the side.
Jay nodded in agreement. He had witnessed what happens when a place catches fire and only has one way in, or out. |

Alice was about to jump but once Skaldi mentioned another way to get to the supposed garden, she stopped. "Okay then, lead the way. I guess." She stated. The cat girl then turned to follow the huldra, she would have enjoyed jumping up there as it would have been a good time to show off one of her many abilities - one of the very few things she was proud about herself. As she followed Skaldi, she asked: "So what's it like being a huldra, did you live in a big forest or a city? I was bron and raised up in a pretty advanced place - their technology far surpasses some of the things i've seen here and on earth."

Although there was no obvious reaction to the words in his expression, Icarus tensed. He didn’t want to think about not being able to protect his brother. The soldier’s steely gaze lost some of its coldness, several emotions seeping in at the question, before suddenly going cold again. “It doesn’t matter. They’re gone. There’s no changing that, and it’s a tremendous waste of time and energy to come up with things that could be said, when they never will be.” Icarus tore his gaze away and glanced again toward the castle. He walked off without so much as another word. The conversation was starting to get beneath his skin and he still needed to find Peter.
“Kiba…” Aurora started, her voice soft but with an edge of warning. The castle would protect him from the sword, true, but it still wasn’t a very nice thing to do. It was only after she was within the castle that she realized they were lacking Catori and Damocles. She looked around but didn’t see them. Had the two gone on a hunt?
Loki obliged to Raja’s question and explained about Morgan’s mother. He didn’t mention the fact that one half of her body looked decayed, as he didn’t feel that was pertinent to know, but he did tell of her being the goddess of death and the underworld. If anything, it certainly explained a little of Morgan’s nature.
“Sit-ee?” Skaldi frowned at the unfamiliar word. “No, no. We lived in a mountain. In a forest. With… caves.” It was much more complicated than that. Over the thousands of years of living there, the huldras had constructed quite a lavish system of dwelling places within the mountain they spoke of, but Skaldi was unsure how exactly to explain that. Outside of the translating magic’s barrier, the child had an even poorer time trying to communicate with most of the other residents, as English wasn’t their native tongue. To top it off, Skaldi was baffled by Alice’s talk of technology. That was yet another thing the kid knew nothing about. Skaldi brushed past the castle’s front door and made a sharp turn to the left.

Kiba looked at her and mumble asked," what it was only a joke big sis." Meanwhile Damocles was sniffing the ground trying to find any decent tracks or scents.

Marcy stood leaning against the castle, idly doodling on her whiteboard, which was propped against the bend of her right arm. As Annabelle uttered those words, the girl with cherry red and black hair turned her head. Had someone fell from a window? Huh. Didn’t realize I’d spaced that much… The teen started over and faced Annabelle. ‘Is she really dead?’ She mouthed the words without actually speaking.
Aurora sighed. “I don’t find your sense of humor very funny.” Was her only reply. She held out her free hand for the sword. Partly to get it away from him, and also to have a better look at it.
Catori ambled along behind Damocles, but she wasn’t having much more luck than he was at tracking some prey. The wolf yawned suddenly.

Cloud watched as the soldier walked off. He didn't particularly want to end up in a hospital again, so he didn't press the issue. It might take some time, but he hoped the ending could give those two some closure. He had to make sure it wasn't just going to open old wounds needlessly however. He scratched the back of his head, looking around for a new person to help/bother.

Runa frowned and Raja's question. Surely she didn't have a temper. Did she?

Even Loki could not keep the ensuing smirk off his face when that question was asked. “I believe that’s a fairly accurate assumption.” He stole a quick look over at where Runa and Morgan stood, still wearing the smirk. Hela was slower to anger, but her temper was a frightening thing to behold during those exceedingly rare times she lost it; usually at Loki.

"Not everyone can step the boundaries of time like you." Raja chuckled at Runa's reaction to his question only to chuckle again with Loki's answer. "Probably still worth the pranks." He said before looking at Morgan, "Especially since I need to get someone back for my hair." He added.
Runa glared at Loki when he answered Raja's question, "I do NOT have a temper, thank you very much." She snapped.
Morgan glances towards Loki with a look to dare him to try. When Runa spoke up she chuckled herself, "I beg to differ. You very much have a temper." She added which only earned a glare from Runa. |

Loki grew silent for a moment, thinking. “That potion lost its effect long before your hair ceased changing color.” He quietly, wisely pointed out. As Runa snapped, Loki flashed a look her way as though to say ‘really?’. Morgan’s words brought another smirk to his face. The trickster was notably more relaxed than he’d been before. This was… nice. Just sitting around with his family, talking and enjoying one another’s company. It was one of the things he knew that he’d miss the most.

Runa smirked and decided to try sneaking up on Morgan, which was surprisingly easy and started tickling the girl.
Morgan let out a startled shreak before laughing for a moment and eventually going intangible, "What was that?!" She asked having never been tickled before. |

Loki frowned at the way that Raja had phrased that. “Your hair has changed color in the past?” In spite of his own natural shapeshifting powers, that wasn’t a trait commonly inherited. Morgan had changed forms in front of him numerous times, and he wondered now if Runa had any shifting ability. Loki’s thoughts were interrupted by a shriek from Morgan. An eyebrow arched but he said nothing about it.

As she listened closely, Alice frowned slightly. "Wow, your species must have really been cut off from everything if you've never heard of a city before." She chuckled dryly. "Must have been a big forest? When i arrived at Earth with Cosmos, we stayed in the forest for a few days - though we had to keep moving since there basically wasn't anything to eat there. We wandered aimlessly for a while after that until we came across this city called- ... i dont actually remember the name."

(That was actually my bad. I wasn’t sure with your post whether Kiba was giving her the sword itself or just the sheath to it, so I just said sheath, since that’s what Kiba held out. I also wasn’t completely certain if Kiba wanted her to actually take it and keep it or not. I just improvised.)
Aurora accepted the sword with a shrug, placing the sheath back on; not that it could cut her inside the castle, but to make it easier to carry. “How do you think it ended up in the cave?” Of course, there was no easy answer to that, and she doubted Kiba knew either. There was also the mystery of why the ground shook when the weapon was removed.
Catori bobbed her head once in agreement before turning to go back. (It would certainly be bad for them if they came across Thomas…)
“Indeed, it is not…” Loki did feel some remorse at Raja having gotten into trouble for something he was born with. He inwardly cursed the harsh regime of the boy’s home world, wishing again that he’d settled upon a different course of action, other than an act of cowardice. At Morgan’s words, he glanced over at her and Runa, a rather mischievous idea beginning to take shape in his mind.
Skaldi nodded a few times as Alice spoke, leading the way to one of the two towers. As they arrived, Skaldi began to tug at a wooden door. It took some effort and the underused hinges noisily protested against the young huldra. When it was opened, it revealed spiraling stone steps leading straight up. They stepped aside to let Alice through. “What is a city like?” It wasn’t the first time that the child had heard the word and they were eager to learn the meaning of it.

The creature burst through her portal, looking around in curiosity. Tall trees surrounded her, babbling brooks reached her enormous ears. The ground shook slightly with each step she took, for she was gigantic! She smelled the air, her mouth opening as she did so to reveal sharp yellow teeth. Her neon self seemed extremely out of place in this world, as in her world she'd blend into her surroundings. She sat beneath a tree, looking up into it at a rather ruffled crow cawing at her. |
