{ - - { Introduction } - - }
You wake up and your head is pounding... A pulsing, hot vibration in your head that makes you so fatigued you can't even begin to think about where you are, when you fell asleep last, what time it is... All you can focus on is the crinkling of leaves under your paws, and how Earthy and gritty the air tastes. You swear you can feel either blood or mud in your mouth. With a snort and a sneeze you shake your head, leaves and debris fly off of you. Looking up, you can see the dust particles travelling through the shafts of light, the light that's coming through... A giant hole, right above you. A hole carved out under the Earth. You're underground. Then why is it so bright? The ground on you feels no different than any other ground, except perhaps a tad more sullen. Life is growing, fruitful, trees that are - well unlike any you've ever seen are here, but they're growing. It's as if life existed under here in its own different way. But how is that possible when the sun is covering the - that's when you notice the thousands of speckled, light producing stones on the ceiling. If you didn't know any better you'd say it was the night sky... Okay, now this was beginning to irk you. Where were you?
Gathering the strength to stand, you get up and begin to pace through this strange place. A path has clearly been cut out for you ahead, and not knowing where else to go you follow it, hoping for some way back to the surface. Or what you think is the surface. But as you walk you can't tear your eyes from the trees around you, the bark is a lovely shade of sky blue, and their leaves, changing between purple to pink, and pink to dark blue. You remark to yourself you could get lost exploring the innards of just one of those tree, and they lined the place everywhere. And it seems like you weren't the only one interested in them, as a long and lanky figure snakes through them. The hackles raise on your back, you can only imagine the kind of things that live down here. Things that have probably never seen the light of day - that light which is now shrinking the more you head deeper underground. Is it too late to turn back? Because you are starting to think now is an excellent time to abscond because a quick glance to the other flank of trees shows more figures, looming, long, dark. Your imagination begins to run wild as soon as your paws start doing the same thing.
In your panic, you do not run back the way you came, to the light. Instead you run deeper in the forests, hoping to escape them somehow despite this being the land they know better than you - and they know that too. They're following you, hot on your paws, running through the trees you can see their shadows through the leaves. Your breath picks up, the path you were following leans off a different direction but you ignore it and burst straight through the treeline and deeper into mess of brightly colored trees. Sticks claw at you, tearing at your flank and scraping at your eyes and ears. At first you swore it was the claws of whatever was following you and you scream out; "Leave me alone!" Whatever is there pays you no mind, instead picking up the pace until you see the shadows get lost ahead of you.
This prompts you to look in front of you, where your eyes widen until they're almost bulging out of their sockets because my GOD there was a cliff side in front of you. Your claws bury themselves in the Earth and your forward momentum is just barely stopped as you slump backward, stomach curled into a tight ball of fear. You allow your heart a moment to calm itself, then you take a peek off the cliff... It's the void, or at least, everything you could comprehend as it. A blank slate of black, empty nothingness that could tear up anything, nothing was living down there. No light was coming from there, who knew how deep it was, or how far it took you.
"Wow!" A quick snort of laughter sounds behind you and you whip around, just about ready to lose it. Much to your surprise its the lean figure of a cat - though you notice it doesn't look quite right. This cat looks like a ghost, or some sort of dark spirit. Wisps of dark, smoke like haze drift from its body. "Lucky you stopped just in time I was afraid I was gonna have to leap out there and get ya! Which, believe you me, would have been a horrendous idea because that's the border between our world and the nothing!" What was this lunatic cat spirit talking about? You feel moments from fainting from shock... "I can tell you're new here... I'm Europa, and I think you could use a bit of help.. It's not often we get visitors down here, please, trust me - I'll take you to our camp and we'll explain to you everything that's happening, and try to get you back home." He looks at you earnestly, and it's in that moment you think to yourself he's ironically cheerful and bright for a creature that looks like he's made from the dark... For a brief moment you weigh your options. You don't know this place very well, hell you almost apparently just ran off the face of the Earth. You're gonna die in here no matter what, so you figure you might as well take the slight chance that this isn't a trap, and see where it takes you...
{ - - { Rules } - - }
Every respectable place gotta have it's fair share of rules, right? Don't worry, I won't bite your ear off with 'em. I'm also quite lenient with them, so if there's anything you want to clarify just talk to me.
1.) Activity -- This one is plain and simple, if you're here please just try to remain active. There's no real way I can make you conform to this, but please before you join ask yourself if you're going to remain interested enough to come back, otherwise it is more harmful then helpful to have you join. Thank you for considering.
2.) LGTB -- I am a complete activist for all sorts of this, however I do believe there is a time and place for it in all of its spectrum, and I do not believe that this is exactly the place to do it. Feel free to make cats that have a desire for someone of the same gender, but respectably, please do not make any cats that identify as a different gender.
3.) Characters -- In terms of how they can look, I am quite lenient on this seeing as how this is a RP based heavily on fantasy, even more so than the original books. So please feel free to use your imagination to your hearts content, but I do have boundaries. Please no cats with human hair, and please no cats with wings or crazy insane super powers like they laser eyes or time manipulation. If you want to do something with your character but are unsure if it would break this rule, please ask me, as there are many things I will comply with. Lastly, everyone has flaws, even characters we make - please keep that in mind.
4.) Literacy -- This is a literate role-play, which, in this case means that we typically use longer replies here than most other RP's. Situationally, there should be several lines of a post, however I'm not going to make a rule against that because there are instances where you don't have to reply very long - it all depends on what's happening in the story. But, I don't feel I have to explain myself much further, you can all define in your own minds what literate means in this instance, so trust your judgement.
{ - - { Territory and Camp } - - }
Without a doubt the strangest thing about AbyssClan is its territory. We live in a world that is far from, well the normal one that you're used to - and thus there's a lot for you to learn! You see, up on the surface is the world you know, and I bet you never would have thought of it, but under your feet the whole time was a world all of its own. The underground is much larger than you and I can ever think of, our clan has only explored a small portion of what's out there. Sure, it's pretty scary, but the place is also wonderful... Let's start with where you fell in from, that's what we call the opening. It's possible to make it back up there, but it has only been done once in all of our history - we don't tend to want to go up there anyway... Under the opening is a bed of leaves and flowers that help comfort the fall of any unsuspecting, poor soul that drops in. And you'd be surprised by how many people actually do. The path the new comers normally always take, is called HellMans Way. It's a long path that winds through the undergrowth, but ends up leading you straight to the Void. The Void itself is a huge drop off, that has no end... Trust me, we've tested it before. The void acts as a sort of wall, or border that separates our territory to one side. Now the vast amount of our land is just a very thick undergrowth, of trees that are blue and pink, tangled and thick. These kind of trees, that are the most common, are called Ephemeral's. Their bark is great for climbing, and their branches are so thick and tangled that it makes a fun place to crawl around in.
Speaking of which, one of my favorite places in the whole clan is the Twist Tree. It's in the very center of our territory, and is easy to find because it's the biggest tree here! It's so big the very top touches the roof. The tree is always plentiful with life, if not with prey than of our own kind! This is a very common place for the cats to hang around, mainly the apprentices. The hollow of the tree is so large that it actually could be used as a camp, so this is a very popular place. On the ground all around the Twist Tree is springy, light purple grass that is very tall and soft. This grass is called Dozers, and it's helpful with medicine.
Up next we have the Quarry, which is actually just what is sounds like! It's located near the South Western side of our territory, close to the border. It's a giant mound of crystals, which I have no doubt would have been real valuable to people on the surface. Gem stones of all kinds of glimmering colors embed the Earth here, even dipping down to make this underground cave that's really pretty! But you'll be lucky if you ever actually get to go in there, because only Oracles and the Emperor are allowed in there. Said there's supposed to be some strange connection with the spiritual realm in there. Other than that though it's a pretty dangerous place! So I'd stay away from it. Oh, but speaking of the border - the other one that's on the Western side of our territory isn't cut off by a huge void. This one is cut off my a river that runs through the whole land. It's called the Sarabande, and it's waters are lavender colored.
Lastly we got a grim sort of place, one that we don't really know anything about. It's called the Graveyard, and it's this burial place of creatures we don't know. Apparently we weren't the only ones in the underground, because there are crooked tombstones all around this place. Thankfully it's our of the way, and in a deep part of the territory, so no one really goes here. Whole place just kind of had a sad, eerie feeling to it. Around here the Ephemeral's disappear and are instead replaced with Junero's. They're a really valuable tree because the produce this sort of honey that helps with medicine, and their bark and leaves are useful. They sort of look like weeping willows, except their leaves are black and the bark is an ashy grey.
