OOC Text ICMax laughed as he got himself a forkful of the cheesecake. "I can handle two pieces of cheesecake," he said and lightly tugged on his shirt. "I have a really fast metabolism too, so I can basically eat whatever I want too. Feel free to hate me for it. Most people I tell that to, so," Max said before he placed the fork in his mouth and let out a happy noise to let Cain know the cheesecake was good. 'Why would i hate you for the way that your body works?' Cain questioned, looking confused. 'I really don't mind.' He slid a slither past his lips again, looking very relaxed as he chewed on the sweet treat, wondering if he could ask the kitchens to make him some traditionally Greek food for his dinners and have it brought up to his suite- he hoped so, he missed home. He slipped a strawberry onto his tongue, almost purring at the tart sweetness as the berry burst upon it, coating his tastebuds.

"I guess so.Well, you know three more people than I do at least."Arlo said and looked over at Kuro.He hadn't really been spending much time around people, choosing instead to stick around the stables and practice on Bucephalus. There was a competition coming up and he had been spending most of his free time preparing for it.Looking back at Kuro after abandoning his thoughts,he fought to hide a smile at the sight of Kuro's mussed up hair.

Mackenzie had opened her mouth to say something, but that's when she noticed August's attention turn elsewhere. She held back a comment and instead turned to catch a glimpse of what he was so distracted by. If she was following his gaze correctly, it lead straight to a man who appeared to be a bit...well, to put it nicely, different. Mackenzie thought she had picked up something about August, but wasn't about to say anything. He might not want her to know, and she could be wrong also. Which, she sort of hope she was. Mackenzie had gay friends, but she didn't like some of the things they did. Which now, she was unsure how to react or respond. So Mackenzie just stood silent, lips drawn into a thin line as she looked around the room.

"It's good right, the cheekcake?" He asked with a grin, glad that Cain seemed to like it as well.

Levi returned the smile, amused by her forwardness. He'd meant to give her a dramatic kiss on the back of her hand, then offer her his arm, but this seemed much more appropriate. Levi lead the way towards the dance, vaguely excited to see the decorations. He hoped they'd be over the top, as most of the formal events he'd been to were much more regal. Sometimes it was fun to see extravagance almost to the point of tackiness, rather than the carefully planned events he was used to. "Would you like to dance as soon as we get there, or do something else first?" he asked, looking at Emma as he spoke.
Charlotte accepted the arm, her nerves easing a bit. "Sure." she answered, her smile growing a little more confident. Even with seven years practice, she still had trouble adjusting to somethings that came with royalty. Confidence was one of them. "Are you excited for the dance?" she asked, looking at Makali for an answer. She figured a conversation would ease her nerves. She did like talking.
(I'm so sorry it took me so long to get back, I had something I had to do after practice before I could get to my computer. I should be on for around two hours now though, and then a lot longer tomorrow, if the dance lasts that long.)

OOC Text ICKuro wasn't entirely what to do, so he offered his hand to Arlo, giving him a smile. "Well, why should we wait for everyone to start dancing, we could start for them," he suggested. Dancing he could do, socializing he was okay at but he wasn't sure where to start with that and if more people began to dance, it was possible others would want to join in.

August flushed slightly upon realizing the man had noticed him watching and looked away quickly, but couldn't help himself from looking back in his direction. He watched briefly as the man made his way to the desert table with another before turning back to Mackenzie."Ah,sorry about that...um."August cleared his throat sharply, realizing Mackenzie must have noticed, what with his distracted staring. He looked at his feet awkwardly, not sure what to say with the silence.

Mackenzie took a moment before answering, she simply nodded her head before actually speaking. "Dont...don't worry about it." She told him quietly. Mackenzie said that to a lot of people about a lot of things, she figured between 'you dawg' and 'don't worry about it', he would hear both of them just as often. "Sorry, I suppose I'm the awkward one in this situation..." Her voice trailed off to an inaudible mumble after she said situation.

'They're just jealous of you, Max.' He murmured, looking up at him again. 'Because they can't eat and feel comfortable in their bodies.' He finished his cheesecake and set down the plate, examining the room again, utterly enthralled by how beautiful the decorations were. 'They've done a wonderful job in here.' He breathed.

IC Max was still eating his, taking his time, however he did enjoy looking around at the ballroom. "It's beautiful. I really like the color contrasts. It's rather nice, you know?" He asked before he looked down and started to focus on his cheesecake, he wanted to finish his food so they could do some other stuff and not just linger at the snack table. Though he would be returning here frequently. He could sense it.

'Definitely,' Cain nodded, smiling and looking at Max, watching him enjoy his cheesecake with an amused upturn on his lips. 'Is that good then?' He questioned, examining the chocolate cheesecake- he didn't want any, but it looked like Max was certainly making the most out of his slice.

Makali smiled and began to lead the way to the dance."I guess so,I haven't been to many dances to be honest. Those few I've been to weren't so great to be honest, mainly because of the dates my parents had set me up on.."She drifted off after mentioning her parents and silently berated herself for bringing them up.This night wasn't about them,it was about her and her own life."What about you? Are you excited for it? She asked finally, distracting herself from her thoughts.
Arlo smiled warmly and took Kuro's offered hand.Dancing was something he could do as well.Who knew that was something he would be able to say someday?"Sounds good to me."He replied. What was the saying?Lead by example?Well perhaps that saying would come true.At least the song playing right now wasn't so bad for dancing, though he would have to go make a request by the end of the night.
August looked back at Mackenzie, hating how he had made her feel as if she were the awkward one."Don't say that..I didn't mean too...well..."He began several times, but wasn't sure where he was going with it.He could sense what she was feeling, but wasn't sure how to talk to her about it.Perhaps she had felt they would be more than friends? He wasn't totally sure, but he thought that had been the feeling he had given off.

Mackenzie shook her head slowly. She looked down at the ground for a few moments, back up at August for an even shorter amount of time, and then everywhere else in the room. "I said-" her voice was almost stern. But then she went to a softer, quieter tone, "...don't worry about it." If she was being honest, she had wanted to get closer to August, maybe not girlfriend for a while but...she didn't even know how to explain it. Mackenzie wasn't usually great with explaining how she felt. "I...I've gotta go, I'll be back in bit." Mackenzie told him in an almost inaudible tone before moving towards the door to they first came through.

"Most of the dances I've been to haven't been that great either, and I definitely understand on the dates front. The number of boys my father has paraded me around with that I couldn't stand is too high to count." Charlotte admitted, then realized Makali had been trying to change the subject. "But I am excited for tonight. I got to chose my date, you, and a school dance has to be better than a stuffy charity ball or an antiquated 'coming of age' ball, right?" Charlotte asked, looking pretty hopeful. It may have been a school for royalty, but it was still a school, and school dances weren't normally as formal as the brightly light ballroom dancing type of event she'd always been to before.

way to go August o.o )
"Wait..Mackenzie..."August faltered weakly as he watched Mackenzie go.He sighed and slumped his shoulders.Way to go August, what a time to get tongue tied. He hoped this didn't mean their friendship would get ruined before it really had a chance to flourish.August shifted awkwardly in place, not quite sure what to do now.Perhaps he should just go find a corner to sulk in?That didn't sound very productive, but it would be something.Instead he started for the drink table, just to do something to keep him occupied as he thought about what to do.
Makali smiled thankfully when Charlotte caught on and nodded."Yes,Im happy as well that i got to make my own choice. I've actually never been to a school dance before, are they different from charity balls and the such?" She was starting to enjoy herself better now, even though they hadn't even made it to the ballroom yet.Charlotte was very nice and she was definitely happy she had met her.

"Well, I've never been to a royalty specific school dance before, but the ones I remember from private school were always very different. Mainly, the decorations were tacky, and either no one danced, or everyone danced too much. But it was always silly, without the more serious pressures of balls where half the reason anyone went was networking. As I got older, then got more risque, of course, but I don't image this dance will be quite that bad. I guess it's probably a middle ground? Not quite as as much fun as the crazy dances from when I was younger, but better than the awkward balls I have to attend now," Charlotte said, realizing she'd just went on rambling for quite a while. She blushed and looked down, hoping it hadn't made her sound silly. She hadn't realized she'd remember and mention that much from her middle and high school dances. It wasn't like they'd been that fun. Even then, her father had arranged dates for her. She must have just seen how much fun everyone else was having and remembered that.

"Well,I guess we'll both just have to see for I selves to see what its like."Makali said, and gave Charlotte an encouraging smile to show that her rambling didn't bother her.She was, in fact, happy that Charlotte felt so comfortable around her that she could do so.She wanted to be able to talk about her past in such matters herself, relating to dances and such, but she couldn't do it.There were to many bad memories revolving around them, she preferred not even thinking about them.

OOC Sorry they're short, I'm out with my sister.
IC Max nodded as he swallowed another bite. "Yeah, it's amazing. Did you wanna try a bit? The flavors blend really well together," he added and offered a forkful of it to Cain, sort of like how Cain had offered the steak before. He was of course, always more than willing to share.
-
Kuro grinned and placed his other hand on his shoulder to let Arlo lead, as he had no intent to lead unless Arlo didn't want to for some reason. "On your cue," he told him earnestly. "I'll only lead if you don't want to," he added.

"Yeah. Cross your finger's that it's fun," Charlotte joked. The thing about her past was, she only things that really, truly bothered her were mother's death and her father's darker actions. She'd grown up rich, loved, and well cared for. Her past was mostly pockmarked by small sadness, save her mother death, and hadn't created much to be upset about. Of course, mention of her father made her bitter, but it was easier for her to talk about how much she disliked him than to keep it bottled up. Talking was just something she'd always found mostly easy and enjoyed, often a little too much.

{True lol, I'll pretend it's been about thirty minutes??} Mackenzie had made a mild dash for her suite after leaving the ballroom. She just needed time to gather herself. She didn't cry however, but she did stay in deep thought for a while. But she found herself thinking of absolutely nothing in the end. Mackenzie didn't feel sad, or angry, nor obviously happy. She merely felt empty to sum it up. Like nothing was real, as if time had simply frozen for...what? Half an hour? It felt longer than that to her, but her maid wouldn't lie about something as petty as the time. That was another thing though, her maid (her personal maid from her home) had pestered her about what had happened at the dance that made her come back so early. Mackenzie didn't cave though, instead she barely shook her head, meaning she didn't want to answer. After about the tenth time of asking, her maid left her alone. For that Mackenzie was greatful. She knew she had to think, but it was difficult to when your whole head felt fuzzy and the rest of you felt hollow. What motivated Mackenzie to go was pity. She couldn't allow August to stay there by himself, it would be quite embarrassing. That is, if he didn't run off with someone else now that she was gone. Out of the few thoughts she had, a couple were similar to this one, and Mackenzie wasn't sure whether to be ashamed or not. But either way, Mackenzie was going to go, and go she did. She entered the ballroom again, taking in a shaky breath, and looked around the ballroom for August.

Arlo smiled down at Kuro and placed his other hand on his side and began the dance. It was rather different dancing with others around,he thought he would be more nervous with other watching but he barely noticed them. All he really noticed was the music, the steps running through his head and into his feet, and Kuro.Is this what those corny movies and books talked about when characters started dancing and they seemed to be in a world where they were the only two?It sure seemed like it.

August had been lingering about the drinks table for about half an hour now, sipping at a cup of punch that didn't seem to be getting any lower. He had considered running after Mackenzie, well, not really running, but going after her to see if she was okay, but he just couldn't do it.Curse himself for being so awkward and not being able to cause a scene. He hoped that she was okay,he didn't like the thought of her being alone after they had planned to come to this dance as friends. The mysterious, gorgeous man he kept catching glimpses of around the ballroom could wait,he needed to find Mackenzie and make things right. Where to start though? As he was thinking that and looking around,he surprisingly caught a glimpse of exactly who he was looking for and made his way towards Mackenzie's location.

Charlotte glanced at Makali, grinned, then pulled her forwards to push the ballroom doors open. She stood in the door way, taking in the decorations before her. They were not tacky, like she'd remembered from other dances, though they could be considered a bit over the top. Everything was done up in the full reds and blues. Her dress would stand out, just as she'd hoped it would. After she'd seen her fill of the decorations, she turned back to Makali. "Do you want to dance?" she asked, looking at the dance floor that was sparsely populated with couples here and there. "Or would you rather eat first?" she offered, glancing over at the heaping tables of food. She couldn't decide, she was still taking a lot of it in.
