cιnnaмon roll"To dwell on flaws is smarter than being blinded by what little good they have," was all Ashen said, tail sweeping once "You can never look past something to large, especially when what you claim is there is so small." It was all he was taught to do. To see the good in anything was forbidden, and impossible for the Debochos family without their special optics. The idea didn't sway Ash though, the deity only pressing on with his large hooves, silent for yet another minute or two as he patiently listened to Auri speak.
"I held her hand in death," he said simply "I could feel the tremors of her cries as she found out her parents weren't there to see her. Not for another sixty-five and seventy years. You probably would've cried with her. Held her as you did for her birth, because you cared. I didn't, but still I walked her to the heavens. She was immediately changed to serenity and peace as she crossed over, I could tell. Yet, I felt no change for myself, even though I could've been engulfed in the realm above within one step. Perhaps I should've, but I didn't. I've never felt one truly positive feeling in my life since I reached up to my mother after my birth." Ashen remembered his giggles and happy cries, his coos as his father leaned over him. And then nothing. No happiness. No sadness or pain. Just... nothing. He picked up on the tremors of Auri's sadness, his distress. Yet, the horse only stared with his eyeless sockets. He wasn't going to admit it, but he was trying to comprehend what Aurion was feeling. He was unsuccessful though, and looked away. In that moment, he considered trying to retrieve his eyes. To take a look around, but the thought was quickly snuffed, and he snorted, shaking his head.
"I don't prefer that to rule my conversations," he decided "Not that anyone wishes to hear out any of my other thoughts, hm? Plus, it was you who kept on with this topic anyway. I merely kept responding, maybe until you're smart enough to change the subject. You look much more unappealing when you cry."

{{ Aurion could take it no more and he scowled, wheeling on Ashen, about to say something rude and nasty-----when he stopped himself just in time, biting his tongue. He shouldn't be acting so rude or awful, even to someone like Ashen, who probably deserved it in his opinion. It made him no better than his unwanted companion. Which would be horrible, because Auri needed to be better than him. Needed to be kind and calm. Forgiving. "I forgive you for your harsh words and unpleasant thoughts of this world," he said dejectedly, a little reluctantly. In the end, he never stayed angry with Ashen; he always forgave him. Likely, that was the reason they kept having this very same agruemment almost every time they ran into each other.
Finished with their tiring, pointless debate, he snapped, "What does it matter to you how appealing or unappealing I am when I'm crying?" He crossed his arms haughtily-----he wasn't pouting, no matter what anyone said-----and turned away from him. "Since when am I ever appealing to you? I know you have always found me repulsive and you will for the rest of our lives." How could Ashen find him anything other than that when they were so different? It would make no sense. Their parents were more likely to become best friends before you that ever happened.
"Your other thoughts may be just as dreary as everything else about you," Auri said, but he was curious. Always curious, always seeking to know more, even when he knew he should stop. "...But what else do you wish to speak of?" }}

cιnnaмon roll "It is a sin to lie, Aurion," Ash told him after the deity "forgave" him "If you try to push that upon me, I'll change to a human and paddle your backside." He knew Auri didn't truly forgive Ashen. Listening as the other spoke again, the horse thought for a moment upon his answer. Then, he said "The tremors in your aura are ugly when someone cries, and ugly things aren't worthy of my presence." The Shire laughed somewhat after that, at what Auri said next. Shaking his head, Ash told him "It amuses me how you put words in my mouth. I've never once said I found you repulsive. I feel nothing toward you, because I'm unable to do anything else. If I did, you'd be in a much worse condition." He didn't exactly answer the question, but oh well. Ash found Auri "appealing" because of his intelligence mostly, and power. Ashen was unable to like him for something like his looks because he had no eyes.
"What else?" He responded "Why should my "dreary" thoughts intrigue you so?" Still, he ended up responding "I think about comprehension. Of other things. And about what desserts taste like." His parents never let him eat sweets, and he had yet to even know what something so much as a frickin' oreo smelled like. The horse snorted at the thought, adding "And... heat. My body is unable to experience it." He stepped closer so his massive body was an inch from Auri as he walked. A massive chunk of a horse like him should be radiating warmth, but Ashen was ice cold. Maybe his thoughts really were lame and dumb, but it was what came to mind. Stepping away again, his large head looked forward as he spoke "It... isn't much, but everyone has their wishes." All his thoughts were random, and more or less pitiful for someone of Ashen's power, but he didn't care. He had curiosity too. It was then that he took his human shape again, grumbling. It wasn't his favorite, even though he prided himself on his upkeep, but it was his most common form unfortunately. Pushing his shades up a little to hide his sockets, letting himself shimmer into view of the human eye again, he said "Freedom is a rare thing to come by for me at the moment. Or even a smile. As I said, you must understand why I'm the individual I am."
Why he was explaining himself, Ashen wasn't sure. Yet, there he was. His father would be furious if he saw him not trying to kill Auri. Yet, that intimidating thought did nothing to change his mind.

{{ Auri's jaw dropped in shock at that comment, covering his backside with his hands and walking backwards so that his behind was facing the opppsite direction. His face had turned the exact shade of pink of the lily he'd grown earlier, more than a flustered by that. "You will do no such thing to my backside! Keep your hands to yourself like a proper gentleman, Ash," he huffed, not trusting him enough to turn back around. "And anyhow, I am speaking the truth. I do forgive you. As much as it pains me to admit it, but even a lowly creature such as yourself deserves a little forgiveness." Only a itsy-bitsy, teensy little annount of forgiveness. Just enough for Auri not to feel so mad or upset about it...and also so it wouldn't be quite a lie anymore and Ash would not be spanking him. Even his own parents had never spanked him, much less someone he hardly knew.
Auri paused in his walking, stopping for so long that it wouldn't have been odd for Ash to bump into him. "Your parents never let you have sweets?" That was such a sad thought that the small man felt truly sorry for him, for he personally loved sweets more than any other food. They made him unbearably happy whenever he ate them. "But sweets are the best! They make me feel so much better when I'm feeling blue." As for not being able to feel any warmth, that was also rather depressing to someone like Auri, who practically radiated heat and warmth, and loved curling up in cozy blankets or bathing in the sunlight. All these new things were...well, surprising, to say the least. He'd never asked before today, hadn't had the desire to. Why, of all sudden, had the urge to, he didn't know.
Auri also didn't understand what he did next, what thoughts could possibly have compelled him to do this. To do something so...out of the ordinary. He dug around in his pockets, humming, and pulled out a handful of plastic-wrapped candies in an assortment of flavors and colors. "Want one? They're my favorite," he offered hesitantly. }}

cιnnaмon roll "Being proper takes too much effort, in my opinion," Ashen yawned "And don't be so quick to protest, hm? You may be the one nut that enjoys such a practice of punishment." Ash would never really do such a thing to Auri (yet), but it was interesting to watch the other man's reaction to the idea that he would. He scratched his chin, continuing "A "lowly creature" like myself does not require forgiveness. Not because I don't want it, but because I run no worse without it." That, and his father said forgiveness was just another word for pity. In some ways, it was true, but Ashen didn't really detail himself with such things.
"Not one," he confirmed with a raised brow "Sweets are not necessary to keep this human form healthy, so they simply never gave it to me. They punished me for eating jelly once, some I dug out of the jar with my finger. And jelly isn't even considered a sweet really." He listened to Auri speak, watching the way ahead with that eyeless gaze. It felt odd, to be discussing such things with someone who despised him so. Yet, Ash didn't protest. He didn't have the capacity or comprehension to say he liked it, so he didn't. Having no other words to use for it though, caused him to push all of these thoughts aside. And Ash was pulled away from such thoughts anyway, when Auri did something odd indeed. Ashen bent his brows in confusion at the offer, at first wondering if it was even for him. Still, he eventually took one of the wrapped candies, at first just feeling it. Then, after a minute or so, the wrapper was opened after a few tries, and he smelled it. This was what a sweet smelled like? Nose twitching, he was almost hesitant to eat it, but eventually did. Ash felt his brows furrow at the taste.
It was... different. Much more sweet than that lick of jelly he had when he was four. As he comprehended the new taste, he squinted slightly. After getting impatient with waiting for the candy to melt, he swallowed what was there, saying after "What an odd taste. I suppose I shouldn't be so quick to assess though, because I'll most likely never eat more than that beyond today." He wouldn't be surprised if he was called out when he got home. A Debochos' nose shamed a group of the best hunting dogs, so they'd most likely smell that sweetness now present on his person.
"I suppose I should thank you," Yin decided "But I won't." He said it in a grumble, looking down at his feet for a while. It wasn't that he was trying to be rude though. Even though he wanted to say those two simple words, he found his brain protesting at the idea. It simply just wasn't something he did.

{{ "That is debauched and I shall have none of it." Enjoy the practice of a punishment? What kind of person enjoyed that sort of thing? Auri supposed Ash had used the word nut in the correct context at least, because that certainly was crazy. For a moment, as Ashen spoke, Auri stared at him in a mixture of fascination and surprise. "It seems we agree on that much, at least. Forgiveness is something I myself can live without. I feel no better nor worse when I am forgiven for an action of mine." It was a pleasant thing to hear that he was forgiven, though it never made a difference to him. He would feel just the same and carry on normally without it. "Perhaps it applies to only myself. I still very much enjoy forgiving others, just not when others forgive me."
"Jelly is no sweet. And it is no substitute for the real deal. It cannot even compare to desserts like chocolate cake or ice cream." Auri explained, unusually determined to make Ashen see how wonderful the human creations were. "Especially cake made with ice cream. Oh, it is without a doubt my favorite dessert ever." To be punished eating something so simple, and not even a lot of it, was absurd. But it wasn't ad though it hadn't happened to him, albeit in a different way that involved much less food. "My parents were furious with me when I wanted to catch fireflies at night as a child." It was a much different topic, but he figured he should share something as well. Auri watched Ash as he continued to walk backwards, more out of fun and entertainment now than to protect his bottom. "They had me write 'The night is a curse upon our world and I shall never approve of its wicked ways' for the rest of the night and the following morning and the night after it, until I broke my wrist." It explained why one would never see Auri out and about when the sun began to disappear. The night did not welcome him and he rubbed his right wrist as he spoke about it.
Yang opened his mouth in disbelief at hearing that Ashen would not be trying anymore sweets. "You must try others! How can you pick a favorite if you have only given one a chance?" Everything deserved a chance. ...And as Auri thought that, as it crossed Aurion's mind, he went cold and it suddenly became quite clear why he was doing this, why he even bothered to say such things. Everyone deserved a chance. Even the man he despised, because had he ever given him one? Given him a fair chance? No. He hadn't. He didn't know why he was doing it now, but being his stubborn self, he wasn't going to change his mind about it. "If I bring you other sweets, you must swear to me that you will try them!"
Auri made a smug, victorious face and clapped his hands in cheer with a grin. At least Ash would never see that horrid gap in his teeth, so he could smile all he wanted. "No need to say thank you," he said cheerily. "I am well aware of your gratitude already." }}

cιnnaмon roll "You never know until you try it," Ashen yawned "Where do you think the name Debochos comes from? Neither of our families had last names at first." His family took pride in the weirdest practices, having taken to it rather quickly generations ago. Out of one of the words used to describe their clan, they fashioned a family name. Simple as that, his father said. Anyway, when Auri spoke of how he viewed forgiveness as well, Ash said "Odd little thing, you are. I thought you'd give an entire sermon on forgiveness."
"Eating human-made food is forbidden," Ashen said simply "The Debochos family always catches or gathers their food. It seems much more desirable than the horrors I've seen humans take into their bodies." To cook the food he caught was the best feeling. And yes, they ate everything, mostly. His father always removed and burned the eyes. He took in when Auri spoke of his punishment, and smiled while speaking "That means they believe all nocturnal animals are creatures of hell." Ashen couldn't comment on either time of day. He had never seen either, only feeling the vibrations of a large orb in the sky.
Auri then insisted he try more sweets, and he held up a hand, saying "I shouldn't even have eaten one, Aurion. It's human food." Yet the man declared that Ashen must promise to eat what he brought. Raising a brow, he said "I'll do no such thing. I value the state of my behind as much as you do." His parents used spanking as a punishment for the family even now. Yet, Ash wouldn't admit it sent pleasurable chills up his spine instead of painful ones. Was a truly a weird individual? Oh yes. He just didn't care. As Auri asserted Ash's "gratitude", Yin did something rare. He smiled, a small upward curve of his lips. Then, he said, still with that smile "Just for that moment of entertainment, I'll take you up on that offer of candy. Just know that I'm getting you over my knee if my family finds out and punishes me."

{{ Auri doubted he would give it a try, but knowinh himself and how he viewed giving things a chance, he dared not mention that out loud. "I would not have given a sermon," he protested peevishly, muttering under his breath, "I just like to talk and no one else would listen." Auri hadn't a clue where his family name came from, only that it sounded pretty. He supposed he could have asked, but he didn't care too much; he was already forced to learn so much about his family thay he didn't believe he needed.
"My family are...vegetarians, as you might call it. We grow our own food," Auri explained, although he had little idea why they were sharing this information when, up until this point, they'd only ever wanted to tear each other's throats out. "But every now and again, if I have behaved myself and excelled in my studies, they bring me something from the human bakery." Creatures of hell? No, Auri wouldn't say that. "They must believe so, though I do not understand why. I have seen night creatures and they are lovely. Baby bats are the cutest."
The thought of being over Ash's knee made Auri blush so bad that his face almost matched his dark hair, an unusually large sunflower blooming beneath him and rising more than two feet above his head. "I shall run away if you even attempt it, you troublesome ruffian." They'd reached the end of the road, where it branched off in two directions, one that went further into town and the other that led to its outskirts. Auri faced Ash and poked his chest, "I shall bring you more candy sometime, but if you will excuse me, I should like to go for a swim." }}

cιnnaмon roll "I might've listened in on your sermon," he decided, rubbing his chin "The things that come out of your mouth are quite interesting. Or greatly entertaining." He didn't elaborate on the topic of their families, knowing that would turn into hours of conversation on its own. Hours they probably didn't want to go through.
"Lucky you with your human food. Good behavior or not," Ashen said "Our food is our own. My father lets me hunt on my own if I've been... tolerable. He knows I like to hunt the large rabbits north of here, and forbids me from doing so as punishment." Those chubby little things always tasted delicious between the jaws of his wolf form. Maybe he'd ask to go when he returned home today. His father had been in a good mood when he'd left that morning. Just claimed the soul of a king! Plus, his mother was close to giving birth yet again. Ash knew how much his father enjoyed harming babies, removing the eyes. And, he didn't go into the topic of the baby bats, Ashen not able to (because he had never seen one.) He'd just have to take Auri's word for it. Shaking his head, he released dry laughter, feeling the vibrations of Auri's soul. Tilting his head, Ash said as he poked at the flower (not killing it) "You must not be familiar with my level of intent when I desire something. If I so wished, I'd steal that leash from you parents and yank on it a few times right now, hm? And, do better to hide your blushing. I can all but see it, Aurion."
Grabbing Auri's finger when the other jabbed him with it, he raised a brow before letting the finger go, saying "No need to explain your whereabouts to me. I tend to stalk people I despise." Then, he smiled again. Turning away, Ashen decided "As always, it was eventful running into you. I'd say "see you around", but I can't. Catch you later, perhaps." And with that, he changed shape yet again, to a smaller bird, about the size of a parrot, with the black and white patterns. (Here) A whistling noise left him as he circled Auri a few times (crapping on the sunflower that he'd produced) before he flew off into the sky and out of sight.

{{ Aurion could be described as nothing other than flustered, embarrassed and maybe just a teensy bit intrigued for the rest of the day. While the comments about him being on a leash-----or anything to do with his bottom, mind you-----were not all that pleasant, he couldn't say he regretted the conversation. It had been...well, nice wasn't the word he would use, but it had certainly been different. Different wasn't always so bad. His swim had been lovely, though he'd felt kind of off about, thinking absently if Ash might show up out of nowhere to terrorize him again. Of course, he didn't, and Auri was just being paranoid. Not good for his health.
The following week went by in much the same manner, Aurion going about his usual business, sneaking away when it all became too much, wondering if Ash would come to speak to him (and maybe being a little disappointed when he didn't). He had listened to his parents at dinner speak about how the Debochos ate the garbage of humans themselves and had thought to himself, almost defensively, But they would never do such a thing. Ash would never even walk near the humans' garbage dumps. It was an unpleasantly odd feeling to side with Ash, with any of his family, for once in his life. For the first time, perhaps.
Which may very well be how Aurion, the fool who ususally meant well, found himself in his current situation. He had been passing by the Debochos's property at the week's end on his way home, hands shoved into a pair of hole-covered jean shorts. If he'd been just a little smarter, be may have kept walking. If he'd had more common sense. If, perhaps, he hadn't had a hope, deep in his stomach, that he might run into Ash. Auri could not pass up the opportunity, stepping off the path and onto forbidden land, the very place his parents had forbade him from going since the day of his birth.
At first, all was fine, though not lovely. The land reeked of death and decay, even if all was not dead there. It was simply just the presence of the Debochos there that made it smell so. He could see no one around, could sense no not a soul. No matter, he'd thought, he would just take this chance to explore. To learn. It was as he was inspecting a particularly unusual insect he'd stumbled across that he became aware of a lurking sensation. Dark, lethal, cold-----and hesitated, for it might have been Ash.
It was not Ashen, but some other Debochos man. A cousin or younger uncle, whatever relation he was did not matter. Only that he'd pounced on Aurion, swift as a venomous snake, catching the Gwynn by his arm and slamming him into the dirt. He'd pinned a flailing, squirming Auri down on his stomach, captured his arms in one hand and yanked his head back by his hair with the other. "Well, well, well. I seem to have caught myself a pretty little mouse," he hummed, though he did not show much emotion on his face. His eyes had been left uncovered, and those empty sockets seemed to burn straight through Aurion. "It is not every day a foolish little Gwynn wanders into our hands so willingly," he commented with a cackle, baring his teeth.
"Unhand me! You've no right to-----" Aurion's protests were silenced by the man's hand, switching to using his knee to keep him still.
"Oh, I've every right. You came here of your own free will, knowing the consequences, Gwynn." The man leaned down, only an inch from his ear, his breath cold on Auri's skin. "Perhaps you wished to be caught, hm? Is that it? Oh it is, I can feel it! You Gwynns truly are vile creatures." }}

cιnnaмon roll Something was different about Ashen. A different that hadn't been so in a long while. It wasn't happiness or any crap like that. Simply just the feeling of not being grumpy maybe. The next week had been quite relaxing for him, unable to engage in arguments with the other family members. All he did was keep to himself mainly, lounging in his room or in the gardens. So oddly, he couldn't keep his thought away from his last run-in with Auri, brows bending every time. However, he couldn't bring himself to frown at the thought of the other deity. Huffing, he sat up from his bed, scratching his shirtless chest. For whatever reason, he'd decided a walk would be good for his day.
Not bothering to shrug on a shirt or robe or anything, he headed straight outside, allowing the cool air to greet him. His prized hair was left undone in its impressive mane. It shifted as he turned his head, as if he could see any of his home. Many saw the bad-smelling and intimidating property as undesirable or scary, but Ash saw it as home. It was peaceful and allowed him to be at ease all the time, save for the occasional conflicts he had with his family. Sighing, Yin had been enjoying the silence until he heard, and felt, something. Brows furrowing, he picked up on agitation, and satisfaction. So, he went to go investigate, pinching the bridge of his nose when he felt the familiar tremor of that annoying soul from a week ago. Ash's pace didn't slow until he was within ten feet of them, saying to his family member "Don't you satisfy yourself with enough slaves already? That doe wouldn't make a good peg anyway."
He walked over to the pair, and simply booted the other man off of Auri, glancing down toward Aurion for a moment before turning back to his priority, continuing "He will not be yours to deal with. I caught this fool earlier, and he escaped me on my lazy day." Ashen bent to grab Auri and yank him to his feet, yet he didn't turn his gaze onto him again. He'd heard what his blood had said to Aurion, but decided not to comment on it. No need to start a fight just yet. Maybe he could lie his way out of the matter if he was careful, more or less, and convince the other Debochos that he was going to drag Auri off to torture him or something. To summarize, he didn't want much conflict. Ashen wanted to save his energy for kicking Auri later.
What in all realms made Auri think this was okay? A sheep walking into a wolf den. The idea made Ash want to question him right that second, but knew better than to do so.

{{ Kieran, the man, frowned deeply when his intimidation process was interrupted by none other than Ash himself. Catching a Gwynn was a rare occurrence indeed, and while Kieran would love to do with the boy as he pleased, Ashen was one his more liked relatives. He preferred him to many others and, as he could not think of a reason why he should deny Ash his prey, gave a careless shrug as he pushed himself up from the dirt. "Ah, well. I would hate to come between you and the little mouse," he chuckled, easily persuaded. Ash was right about Aurion-----he wouldn't have been all that entertaining. "But he is a pretty one. None of my slaves are quite so...appealing. Try not to make him too hideous when you are done, Ashen. It would be a shame."
Aurion, even as the man headed off with an unnerving smirk, could feel nothing but panic. He was drowning in it, the feeling constricting his chest, making his body run cold. His legs were shaking, his skin turned paler than blank paper, hands clammy with sweat. His eyes, as widened in fear and the gold shining so bright through the brown, were focused on Ash. "Release me," Auri squeaked, the fear trembling through his voice. He was trying to stay calm, trying to be rational and think of a way out, but he could think about was how he had made an awful mistake. One that, coincidentally, might cost him his life. "Please-----I was only... I shall never do it again, I-I s-wear."
Aurion was more a gentle being, the kind who was no good in situations that required him to be violent or to fight back. He was all talk, all bark and no bite. It was shameful how he was sobbing, tears of fear and horror staining his cheeks. He was certain of his death, of how his parents would know he had been slaughtered but never find his body, how they might mourn for him. His family would tell stories of poor, foolish Aurion and how he had so blindly wandered into the hands of his own killer. "And if you are going to kill me, Ashen, please make it quick." }}

cιnnaмon roll "I'll try to keep him in top condition," Ashen said with a shrug of his own "I tend to do so with the few toys I have." After Kieran was gone, he turned to Auri and yanked him so their faces were an inch apart, saying "I never would believe such stupidity, had I not sensed it with my own soul. I was almost tempted to hand you over to Kieran, yet didn't because he tends to be... aggressive." A moment or two passed before he moved, turning and walking off, dragging Aurion with him. Unfortunately, Auri would need to stay with Ashen until he saw fit. His father would be furious if he'd let the other man go without presenting Auri first.
"I'd get more benefit in making you my man slave," Ash said with a shrug as he led the way deeper into the property "I'm not going to kill you, fool. If you do as I say, you may not even experience any pain." He snorted as he considered how many ways that could go. Grumbling, he told Auri "I expect an explanation from you. I never thought you were so stupid as to venture onto these grounds. Honestly, I'm glad it was Kieran who found you. At least he'd toy with you. Someone like my father or elder brother? You would not be here now." Eventually, he led them both back to the garden that bordered his room on the property. Surprisingly, the trees and other plants there were beautiful and impressive, darker blacks, reds, and purples and sapphire blue. Looking around as if he could see it all, he tilted his head. He couldn't see any of it, but the tiny auras he sensed were impressive for plants. Ashen's mother had a Familiar that grew and tended the plants, to use for food or medicine.
"If I could feel it, I'd say sorry," Ash told Auri "But then again, you'll have to admit that it's partially your fault for your unfortunate meeting with my blood, hm?" Walking back over to the shorter male, his bent brows eased up and he questioned "There aren't any of your family here, is there? One Gwynn is already crossing the line. Our families fighting right now over something so pretty really would be troublesome." That, and the idea of Auri being victim to more of his family didn't sit well with Ashen. Picturing Yang in the hands of pretty much perverted idiots wasn't the most ideal. Pinching the bridge of his nose again, he huffed "I'm so close to punishing you right now, for both your annoying nature and moronic tendencies."

{{ Auri expected death and he expected torture. He expected Ashen to kill him on the spot trespassing or simply because he could. Kieran had gone, at least, for which the Gwynn was incredibly grateful, considering how the man terrified him so. Not that Ashen did not make him feel fear as well, but it was a different kind of fear. Stronger and more panicked and with many more tears. He did not reply, though he was somewhat appreciative that Ash had not handed him over to his blood. He did not speak, could not find any courage to do so, and instead hung his head in shame.
Between his loud, somewhat pathetic and choked sobs, he managed to give the deity an unsteady nod. In the distressed Gwynn's despair, the gorgeous flowers they passed appeared to lose a bit of their luster, their colors fading into duller and less impressive shades, their stems wilting and leaning in the direction Auri had left it. It was as though they were crying with him, calling out for him in the only way plants could. Not only the flowers, no, but the trees as well, their leaves and needles dropping one by one, like tears, onto the ground where they turned to ash. Animals had began to trail the two, little squirrels and birds, the occasional fox, there was even a bear or two. Their whines and shrill cries echoed after them, only growing more insistent when it seemed Auri was not going to cheer up. He was rubbing his eyes as he trailed after Ash, breath hitching, failing to calm himself down, unable to breathe or think or do much else than panic. He'd never been in a situation like this. What did he do? What could he do? What should he do? He didn't know, he didn't know.
"I am alone," Auri wailed quietly, because oh how he wished he had someone. His mother, his father, his older sisters-----preferably his older sister Gemini, who was as calm and immovable as a statue. It was his own fault he was here now, as pathetic as he had ever been, at the mercy-----if they had any-----of the Debochos. He'd never felt more foolish and ignorant. "Punish me as you wish so I may leave. Am I not shameful enough?" Around the two, the wind had kicked up, violently howling in his ears. He hugged himself, watching Ashen as he walked on weak legs, head lowered. He should have never hoped to find him. Why had he wished to speak to him so badly? Could he not have found a better way? Why did he think that he would run into Ashen and all would be well? "I was such a fool to think so," he whispered to himself. }}

cιnnaмon roll "Buck up," was all Ashen said, staring at Auri with that shade-covered gaze "You certainly are on your way to being shameful enough, if you keep up with what you're doing now." As he felt the tremors of Auri's fear and sadness, he did nothing at first. Then, he reached a hand, almost as if to rest it on the other's shoulder. Yet, in the end, he decided against it, and let his hand rest against his side once more. Ash knew he'd probably just manage to make it worse, as Auri seemed to think that everything was Ash's fault. Huffing, he turned away again, noticing the plants auras sat and wilt as they wept. With a flick of his hand, water shot from a little nearby pond, sliding along the ground over to some lilies, the water reaching up and encasing them before freezing, preserving the beauty he couldn't see before Auri's sadness caused them to become damaged. Those were his mother's prized flowers apparently, even though they weren't ever given visual attention. It would be Ashen's head that would be had of his mother sensed that they were downed.
He'd heard his whisper, and bent his brows a little. Ash hadn't tapped into Auri's brain with telepathy, so he couldn't match the words to whatever thought had come to Yang. Scratching his chin, Ashen told him "Even if I punish you now, you wouldn't get to leave after. If Kieran hasn't babbled to my father, the earliest you can leave is tomorrow morning." He was going to keep Auri there for a while until he was sure it was safe for him to leave. And whether Auri liked it or not didn't sway Ash. After another minute or two, he said "Come, so you don't continue to plague my family's flowers like an illness." Once again did Ash guide Auri, glaring toward the animals that tried to follow. Perhaps it would be better to hide the other in his room, where not even his parents ventured without permission. As they changed locations, going inside the massive link of homes, he was relieved when he couldn't sense any of his family. Probably out doing whatever, or retreated into their private chambers. Relaxing slightly, Ashen said nothing more for a long while.
As they walked, one who had eyes could see the numerous paintings and decor, full of silver, black, and other dark colors to compliment. The most standoutish objects were the paintings indeed. Each was of a creepy or horrifying monster. Each with a black body, the white dot, and white eyes. The only thing false would be the glowing white orbs in each creature's skull. In front of each painting was a glass display case with two small balls. Ash paused upon nearing one of these paintings and its display case. He couldn't see it, but knew what it was. Who it was. The creature was crouched, massive, and looking downward with an almost sad or tired gaze. And it was beholding what it could never hope to be. A bright shape of innocence. (Here) And in the display case below it was a pair of blue-gray eyes. Just "looking" at the setup made Ashen's muscles tense and his brows bend.

》Cool picure.《
{{ Auri did, indeed, "buck up" as Yin had told him to, drying his eyes on his sleeves and taking a deep breath. After the initial shock of being found, caught and forcefully shoved into Ashen's unwilling care, he had finally found his nerve. He was okay, he told himself, he was perfectly fine. If nothing had happened to him yet, he might very well walk out of this alive, perhaps ashamed and potentially injured, but alive nonetheless. "I can buck up," he said weakly and with just a hint of a whining tone. Not that he had anything to prove, when it came time to face the wrath of Ashen's father, he did not want to be in such a useless state. Calmness and a clear mind were what he needed, even if he was still trembling. Auri didn't even see the hand that Ash had reached out, so distracted was he.
Stay here? For a whole night? No, no, no. No, he couldn't do that. It wasn't safe. He wouldn't be safe. In the dark with... With the Debochos. And yet, despite the fear he felt, there was an odd, tiny trickle of curiosity that was slowly growing bigger. No Gwynn had ever stayed the night here. Most had never been on the property, except for a few, such as his parens, during required business meetings. Auri would never have this chance again. He would be punished no matter what-----and this was why he should always follow the rules, breaking them lead to no good-----so why not explore while he had the chance? Or as well as could while being monitored by Yin.
Yang, in a true manner of the Gwynn, admired the decor of the Debochos residence. For as different as their homes were, theirs held a kind of beauty his did not. It was not warm or bright, it was not full of cheer and joy; it did not carry the scent of his mother's perfect garden of jasmine and lavender. Yet is was, in fact, beautiful. A darker, more subtle beauty, like a crow's feathers. "What a lovely home you have," he breathed in awe, completely honest, his voice scratchy from crying. As much as he didn't want to compliment Ashen, Yang couldn't help it. It came so naturally to him. The paintings on the wall and...the eyes. All the eyes. He followed Yin's sightless gaze to that picture, taking it in, confused and fascinated. The Gwynns had no such thing in their home. No paintings aside from simple landscapes. "Are those...your eyes? My grandmother told me once that your family eat their eyes. I am...relieved that you are not so animalistic." }}

cιnnaмon roll "Yes, they're my eyes," Ashen said simply, head still turned on the painting. In all the creature's eerie beauty, an ominous depiction of power, is what Ash would turn into when he relinquished all other forms from his consciousness. It was then that he continued "My fifth great grandfather suggested we begin that practice, but my fourth great grandfather said no, being fine the way we were. The eyes are on such unguarded display to show how easy it is to take them and become weak." Keeping his attention on the setup for only a minute longer, he then turned to continue walking, motioning for Auri to follow. He could sense the other's unease of being in the home, and seeing the sickening displays, but merely continued on as if he couldn't.
"I assume your home is much more... bright," Ashen decided almost thoughtfully "Color-wise, anyway." Eventually, they were able to move past the massive line of paintings, and stopped at a door. After a few tries, he opened it up. A room sized to be worthy of a greedy royal, decorated with darker furniture and littered with books and blankets, and even had a tv. What he really prided himself on though, was his collection of chessboards. Each was on display in multiple cleared shelves, on the floors, dressers, etc. Even blind, he was taught to play by a homeless human man. How was your life? He'd always ask Ashen when he passed by the alleyway the old man lived in. Ash wouldn't respond, but would go over when the man offered to teach him chess in exchange for conversation. "People only talk to those with money or power," the old man said with a wrinkled nose "Even when the poor can be the nicest in the world sometimes." As long as he could touch the pieces and the board, the man would say, Ash could learn. And so he did. Ever since he was ten years old, for around ten more years, he'd go visit that old human, until his father found out. Ashen had to witness his father drag the sweet homeless man into view and gut him. It was the closest Ash had come to having eyes, yet it was all snuffed after that day.
"Mind the boards," Ash said to Auri "Take a few blankets and make yourself a spot to sleep. I don't want to share my bed." He prized the game taught to him by that human, and would always remember the little teachings given that went beyond the chessboard. If anything, the old man reminded him of Aurion, both defending humans despite their vile traits. "Us humans are stupid," the old man agreed with a laugh one day "But we sure do try. That's why you have to keep giving us a chance." Maybe that was why he didn't ever smite Aurion whenever he saw him, because of who he reminded Ash of. Maybe he'd tell Aurion that story if they ever oddly saw fit in sharing such conversation like last time again. Sighing heavily, Ash edited his instructions "Unless you're not tired, then I suppose I can take you to look around. No one's home except Kieran, plus I don't think I can handle being cooped up with you in a room while conscious." He looked at Auri for the other's decision.

{{ Yin's fifth great grandfather... It was such a familiar phrase to Auri, so similar to one he had grown up hearing, though certainly not the same. How odd, though, that both traditions would come to be created in the same generation. "My fifth great grandfather came up with our tradition as well," he commented, rubbing absently at his left hip. "Although nothing is taken from us, exactly. We are healers by nature and so, to ensure that we never forget that we must be selfless and nurturing, we must remind ourselves what it is like to suffer as mortals do." Their tradition was something of a strange one, one that they had to continue for their entire lives. It was not giving up something and being done with it, but a ritual performed each morning as the sun rose. "We mark ourselves with fire, and when it heals, we do it again and again."
Talking made him feel better, a little less uneasy and more tranquil. Not relaxed, not here, but calm. The chess boards were what Yang noticed first, peeking slowly around Ashen. He was pleasantly surprised by it all, by the normality of it-----the TV, the books, the chessboard-----since he had been expecting something...more sinister. A torture chamber, perhaps. This he could relate with, as it was quite similar to his own room, aside from color choice and the lack of stuffed animals. "My house certainly is more cheery," he said at last, looking thoughtful and tilting his head. "But yours has a certain...charm to it." He ran his hands over the chess board, suddenly feeling brave and grinning. "Chess is a beautiful game. My sister Gemini taught me to play when I was a child. It is one of the many wonderful games humans have invented." He looked back at Ashen, wrinkling his nose at the thought of sharing a bed. "Show me around, if you'd like. As long as your...blood will not be present. He is even more unpleasant than you." }}
