Millie is hated on for some of these reasons.
"She kept her name!"
And? Why does it bother you so much? Daisy and Brook kept their names. Besides, I don't think Millie was rude when she rejected her warrior name.

"Never." Millie padded toward him and brushed her muzzle against his. Then she turned back to Firestar. "You can rely on my loyalty until the day I join StarClan, and you must believe that I will live and die to protect ThunderClan. But I don't want to change my name. I have always been Millie, and I see no shame in it." Dark River, page 86
**
Seriously, how was she rude? She just promised ThunderClan that she'll sacrifice her life to save ThunderClan if she has to! Just like every other warrior did. And anyway, I'm pretty sure many other 'rude' cats interrupted their leaders. So why hate on Millie for that silly reason?
"She's a Silverstream replacement!"
Name one time she tried to be Silverstream. Silverstream is nothing like Millie. Besides, we hardly even got to see any of Silverstream's development! How can you say Millie is a replacement when we hardly even know Silverstream's personality? All we got to see is her arguing with Fireheart and never giving Graystripe his own space.
Besides, Millie only looks like Silverstream because Vicky, one of the authors of Erin Hunter, promised her friends that their cat can have a character in the books. It just so happened to be a silver tabby.
"She's always around Briarlight!"
Both are at fault. Millie and Briarlight. But can you really blame Millie? She's worried about her daughter who can die at any day and time if she doesn't exercise! Briarlight is literally fighting every day in her life to survive. I don't blame Millie for feeling worried aboout her daughter. And besides, did we ever see Briarlight asking her mother for some space? Yeah, didn't think so. Briarlight needs to speak for herself.
"She yelled at Blossomfall!"
Only once. And Blossomfall deserved it. However, she should have been more caring and asked if she was okay after. This is why I am neutral on Millie. Her worries are completely understandable, but she shouldn't have been harsh on Blossomfall. Blossomfall should have been hunting like she was supposed to, but did she? No! She went into the tunnels without even checking to see if it was safe like an idiot. It's one of the basic skills to sniff a hole before going in. Blossomfall didn't do that. She could have died because of her curiosity. Curiosity almost killed the cat.
However, this doesn't mean I liked it when Millie acted like she didn't care if Blossomfall was fine or not after she came back limping from the warriors' den. If you hate Millie for that, then that is understandable. But think about it. Was Millie's yelling really that bad? Take a look at Rainflower. Rainflower actually changed her son's name because he was ugly. Did Millie change Blossomfall's name? No. Was she there for her when she needed her as a kitten? Yes. Millie was always there for her children. She loved them all.
As for Lizardstripe, she physically abused Brokenkit and didn't bother to support him when the kits bullied him. She told him he was "stealing her milk". She wanted nothing to do with him.
All Millie did was yell at Blossomfall that one time, and everyone freaks out about it. Millie was harsh, yes, but she had every right to yell at her. She's really not that bad compared to the other mothers in the Warriors series.
"It's Millie's fault she went into the Dark Forest!"
No. No. No. No. No. Blossomfall made her own choice to join the Dark Forest. It isn't Millie's! Heck, it's not even Crowfeather's fault that Breezepelt went into the Dark Forest, either. They all made their own choices. Ever thought of that? They're old enough to make their own choices now, just as we're old enough to make our own choices when we grow old enough to move out. And Blossomfall was almost killed just because she wanted to go there for the attention!
People hate Millie for being a terrible mother, but say that Graystripe is a wonderful father. Have you seen him around his kits at all during this situation? Graystripe didn't help Blossomfall at all! He just watched her as she got yelled at. Fathers should be there for their children too. Graystripe is only ever shown to be around Millie, but rarely his own kits.
I'm not praising Millie and thinking she's a wonderful mother. She's not, but she's really not that bad compared to some of the other mothers we've read about. I can forgive Millie, and she's done so much for her Clan.
Millie mentally saved Graystripe and encouraged him to go back home. Graystripe was beginning to lose hope, and she helped him find his way back. At one point, Millie even saved his life!
Graystripe taught Millie to train as a warrior and she's already done regular duties that a warrior does, like helping Ivypool become a warrior, and leading a patrol in The Forgotten Warrior.
Millie isn't afraid to stand up for herself, especially when she wanted to keep her name. Millie grew up with that name from the moment she was born. After everything she's done for Graystripe, keeping her name is something so small for the Clan. It's really not worth arguing or disliking her for it. Millie has done so much for the Clan and she proved herself as a warrior. And it's not fair to argue that Firestar gave up his name -- Millie wasn't even around at that time, and Firestar didn't mind giving it up. Both cats are completely different.
Silverstream even let Graystripe go. She's happy that Millie makes Graystripe happy and she doesn't mind them being together.
I really don't think Millie is that bad of a character, and I think people judge her too harshly. Like I said, I'm not fond of her parenting, but I still believe that people are too harsh on her.
