It's a new year here at Beacon. It's time to train you, the next generation of Hunters and Huntresses. You will become the best that you can be. But do not take this lightly. Darkness is rising. It's spreading faster than it ever as before. The creatures of Grimm are becoming stronger. It is becoming harder and harder to keep them under control and away from the kingdoms. One mistake could mean doom for all of Vale. It is up to you, the next generation, to become strong and confront this evil that is growing around you. You must be vigilant. For there may be shadows within the shadows.

These are the rules of the roleplay. All forum rules and Ghost rules are obviously in effect and failure to follow any of these rules will result in warnings, suspensions or deletions from the roleplay. Respect everyone. I have no issues with mature content, I expect there will be a level of violence due to the nature of the show. If romance reaches a certain level pleas take it to direct messages and ensure both parties are happy to continue. If not please skip.
Activity
This is the most important rule. This roleplay cannot survive if you do not remain active. Attempt to post every couple of days and if you are going to be gone longer just let us know.
Literacy
We will not be super strict on post limit, I understand that sometimes you just don't have muse. However you must use proper grammar, spelling and post a couple of sentences. This makes it easier for people to respond to your posts.
Spamming
Spamming is not tolerated. This includes 'will so-and-so please come here' or flooding the page with chat. I do not discourage chat but please roleplay at the same time.
Characters
Characters must be within the age limit, must not be perfect and must belong to you. This is a purely OC based roleplay with the exception of Professors, please check which canon characters are available before roleplaying them. This is to make the roleplay accessible to everyone. Myself and my moderators reserve the right to refuse a character if it does not meet the requirements.
Courtesy
Rudeness, argumentativeness or general discourtesy will not be tolerated. Respect all members or face being banned from this roleplay.
Theft
Everything on this page is property of myself (Kurai). Stealing will not be tolerated and you will be reported. Theft of characters will also not be tolerated.

|| Sabre Knight || Deputy Headmaster || 48 ||
Sabre is tall and imposing, standing at 5'11. She has hair that falls to mid back and is dark chocolate brown, most commonly seen tied up in a practical knot. Her eyes are a flinty lilac and can give her a harsh look, especially when irritated or angry.
Strict and not easily pushed around, Sabre is a force to be reckoned with especially when she knows she is right. She can be judgemental, but usually with good reason as she is an incredible judge of character and is not usually wrong about people's true nature. She hides her more gentle side behind a stony mask and very few people see the calm, caring side of her, or the bright smile that can make her eyes glimmer.
She dresses simply a form hugging pair of dark trousers and a white blouse with high collar, fastened at the throat with a deep purple gem. She often wears a fingerless glove on her left hand, an odd style but serves a purpose when wielding her halberd.
Her weapon is cleverly disguised in to her board pointer, a tool she uses to teach her classes. It is a halberd, a combination between an axe and a staff, with an incredibly sharp point at one end. She would rather outsmart an enemy than resort to combat but she is a skilled fighter.
She was previously a teacher at the Academy in Atlas but recently accepted the position of Deputy at Beacon

|| Brinnshanna Drossel || 17 || Team ||
Brinn is a first year student studying at Beacon. She is tall standing at 5'11 but reaches over six foot when wearing her heeled boots. She has waist length red hair that she usually ties up in a messy bun or plaits. She is very pretty with glimmering blue eyes and porcelain pale skin. Well built from years of training her toned figure helps to accentuate feminine curves. She dresses in a tight fitted corset top and skinny jeans, her armour covers her to her thigh and is finished with bracers not unlike those of an archer.
Regimental and humble, Brinn takes failure harshly and is known for lacking self confidence. Often affectionately teased for being militaristic and not knowing how to relax. She has a more easy going side when she gets to know a person and can be trusting to a fault. She can be considered quite naive and is known to take things literally, meaning she often doesn't get jokes, something that embarasses her greatly. Despite this people would call her a perfectionist, with a heart of gold and a firm loyalty to her team mates and her school.
She fights using a Guan dao called Blau Motte (Blue Moth), a polestaff with a mounted blade. This pole can shift into a hoop which when spun is surrounded by the blade and when spinning fast enough can also act as a shield. This paired with her aura control and semblance make her a very formidable fighter. She rarely uses her semblance as it is one of the few things she struggles to control. She can channel electrical currents which when combined with special dust ammo in her weapon can create an attack similar to lightning. However because she feels she cannot control this she avoids using it and rarely installs the dust in to her weapon, preferring close combat fighting.
Brinn attended the Mistral academy, her father is the head of security in the local armed forces. She has trained every day without fail, fighting to protect the people of the world.

White Fang
|| Edge || 35 || Head of Intelligence || Temporary Leader ||
Edge is a beautiful woman, with a slight build and feminine curves. Eyes turn to her when she moves in to a room and she knows the power that her looks hold, nor is she afraid to use this to her advantage. Her hair is dark as night and falls in long luscious curls down to the small of her back, the parting slightly to the right, giving her a sweeping side fringe that half covers her left eye. Those eyes are a deep green, that shift to a stormy grey when irritated or angry, her favourite trick is to change the colour of her irises. She has well defined cheekbones and thick eyelashes that hood her eyes. Her lips are plump and commonly painted with bright red lipstick that gives her a sultry look.
Edge is a faunus though you wouldn't know from looking at her, concealed in her dark hair are the ears of a bat, her canine teeth are also slightly elongated, like fangs. She has the ability to use sonar and her hearing is superb because of it, sometimes to the point of causing her discomfort. As a tribute to her animal she has a flight of bats tattooed on the right side of her neck spreading down her spine. The dark shapes contrast beautifully with her porcelain pale skin.
She is charismatic and people listen when she talks, although it is not often that she does appear publicly, preferring to cultivate an aura of mystery. When one actually gets to know her they realise that she is cold calculating and manipulative. If someone has no use to her she will not waste time on them. This is not to say that she doesn't have close friends who transcend these requirements, people that she has known and trusted for longer than she could remember. These are the people who see the true her, the caring and compassionate lady although she often hides this side of her.
Edge is not her real name and only a few know her as Amelia Thorne, the name she cast off when the White fang became her life. She ran from her old life and that girl was branded as missing. She had been scouted by the leader of the local branch and had accepted after seeing the horrific way humans treated her Faunus friends. She is an acceptable fighter but information gathering is her speciality, a spy for the White Fang. The true form of her weapon is unknown because she uses her semblance to change the form whenever she uses it. That semblance is the power of illusion, and she can manipulate the images people see before them. She can also teleport short distances although this seriously drains her aura.

The skies over Beacon academy were alive with the thrumming engines of airships, their vapour trails weaving a delicate lattice work, harsh against the blue. New students had travelled far and wide to attend Remnants most prestigious fighting academy and the atmosphere in the schools forecourt was palpable.
The pale flagstones glistened in the sunlight, the academy formed a formidable silhouette. Towered over by the tall spires of the communication tower that stood proud and central. The main walkway that led to the heavy oak doors was lined with hanging lanterns and baby blue fabric that fluttered on the breeze. The sound of running water emanated from the four identical ponds, two either side of the walkway. Beneath the glassy surface glimmering Koi swam, carefree with a flourish of their fan tails.
From the balcony overlooking all of this stood the figure of the schools Headmaster. His salt and pepper hair ruffling gently. One hand rested on the railings the other held a steaming coffee cup, sipping silently as he surveyed his kingdom. The first airship settled at the port, the door opening and a steady stream of eager freshmen spilled out. Each would be different from one another and from those who came before them. Perhaps some would go on to do something great, some wouldn't make it. He sipped his steaming drink, misting up his glasses. He got the feeling this was going to be an interesting year.

Aymeric stood silently amongst the other first year students of beacon academy. He stood right next to the door so he'd be one of the first people to escape this enclosed structure that he hated being inside of. Unlike most of the other students Aymeric knew none of these other students he had been raised alone for fifteen years now so he didn't really have any friends. Being raised in the forest one would expect him to be a savage however the young lad was quite behaved to the point where he didn't cause any trouble. As the airship landed he uncrossed his arms letting them fall to his side as he awaited for the door to open. His eyes scanned the academy silently as he took his first step out of the airship.
This would be one of Aymeric's first time to act like a normal person his age. However it was odd since he didn't really know how to speak to others, and he didn't care to make a mockery of himself so he stayed silent. Standing at the area where the students were told to be at he made sure to stand off to a corner away from everyone just enough to not seem to weird. He crossed his arms again as he awaited for whoever was going to talk, to well talk.

Dustin stood just inside the main entrance, standing next to the door and looking out towards the students. He knew he should probably be preparing lesson plans or something, but he also found that kind of stuff to be boring and was really just looking for an excuse to avoid it. He also planned to avoid the job of herding students to the main hall- how hard could it be to walk straight forward and through the large and not-inconspicuous door? So if anyone asked, he was observing the new students and ready to answer questions or break up any fights. The professor adjusted his hat, centering it a little better before sticking his hands in his pockets and scanning the crowd of students, waiting for the headmaster to speak.
Sev had been quiet so far, reserving judgement about everything until he'd been there a bit longer. He picked a spot in the back so as to not disrupt anyone's view and waited with his back against the wall, not far from the crowd. He'd noticed that some others were separating themselves too- the tall guy in the corner was particularly interesting to him due to his seeming awkwardness and his appearance. After a few moments he unslung Wolfsbane from its spot on his back, picking some dirt off the coat and checking that the blade still rotated. Sev figured that as long as there was nothing to do he might as well check on his weapon, so he quietly made some adjustments to the straps. There was no way they could keep this many people in such a small space for a long period of time, so Sev thought they'd better get on with it soon.

Dustin just shrugged at the older woman and turned his attention to a group of the new students. Two of them were shoving each other for some reason that was probably stupid and pointless. The scarred huntsman sighed and walked over to them, loudly clearing his throat as he did so. His hard visage and the somehow vaguely threatening clank of his leg immediately silenced the group, who quietly returned their attention to the stage, avoiding his gaze. Flashing a barely notiecable smirk at Sabre, he clasped his hands behind his back and continued to scan the room. He wasn't doing nothing, whatever she thought about his refusal to corral teenagers who should easily be capable of making it here on their own, expecially if they planned to become huntsmen and huntresses. The teacher was aware of the thin line he was walking though, and resolved to make up for it later if possible. Maybe helping to surpervise initiation or the typically chaotic first night.

Sabre shook her head in mock despair as he smirked, her flinty purple eyes glimmering. He was a good teacher, but what she would consider lazy and everyone knew how she felt about that. Her gaze flicked across the group, checking her scroll and rapidly matching a few names to faces. There were a handful that already had her interest, and a few with potential for greatness. This year was shaping up to be an interesting one. Footsteps drew her attention as the Headmaster graced them with his presence, he placed a hand gently on her shoulder before moving past to the stage. Stopping before the microphone he took a moment to observe the crowd of eager eyes looking up at him. He found this tradition pointless, but of course he needed to keep up appearances. Clearing his throat he bought the room to silence. "Welcome all of you to Beacon Academy." He said gesturing with his hands, pushing his glasses a little higher up the bridge of his nose. "All of you have worked very hard to be here and we expect your hard work to continue. Hunters and Huntresses are not born, they are formed and that is why you are here. Study and train to the very best of your ability, you never know when you may need your strength." With that he turned away, leaving the crowd in a nervous silence. Sabre took the place he had been standing only moments before. "You will sleep in the great hall tonight. In the morning you will assemble on the cliffs for your first mission." The students began to disperse, moving back to their friendship groups. The chatter starting up once more.

Aymeric watched the others get back into their groups of friends as the meeting ended. His eyes scanned the other students for a few seconds has he debated on trying to strike up a conversation with someone. However he quickly changed his mind, and quite simply decided to stand off on his own. He had no need to make friends, he had lived his entire life up to this point alone. Moving over to a window he looked out of it watching the landscape, it was quite interesting to be in a new world. The forest he lived in was quite large, and filled with grimm so it was quite odd to be in a place that was at least considered safe. To him it was weird to even have calm moments in the forest most of his time had been spent staying alive, or if he was lucky finding a merchant who'd sell him books in exchange for protection to the next town. Luckily for Aymeric that was a good way to learn how to act normal amongst others. Most people with his upbringing would be known as a savage, but not him he acted very much like a mature adult. He had even tamed his appearance before coming here though he still rocked his long ponytail hair, and facial hair it just wasn't as bad as it had been prior to coming here.

(Cute avatar ^_^)
(Sorry I wasn't on today/yesterday (I guess?), had a lot of stuff going on.)
Sev stayed where he was for a few minutes, going over the Headmaster's very short speech in his head one more time and checking the dust vial port in his shield before slinging it onto his back once more. The woman up there- the deputy headmaster, he assumed- said something about a mission tomorrow. If that was the case then it was good to be checking his weapon. It wasn't like he had anybody to talk to yet. It looked like there were a few others who didn't have groups too- that tall guy from earlier and some other chick he hadn't seen before were both staring out a window away from the other people and generally being awkward. Hey, what the heck. Might as well introduce himself and make some friends. Something about teams, or partners, or something. He wasn't really listening when the whole thing was explained to him, but he gathered enough to know he wouldn't be allowed to do this alone.
The big guy strolled on over to the gathering-window and took a quick look at the scene outdoors. Pretty, but nothing he hadn't seen before. He stopped almost between the two but a little bit behind, forming a triangle of sorts. "So, is this the 'socially awkward' corner?" He said with a slight smile, arms crossed, not addressed to either of them in particular. Sev glanced at each of them in turn, looking at weapons first as most people would. Polestaff for the girl, that he was interested to see. He couldn't see one on the guy, so probably a dagger or some other concealable weapon. Interesting choice for his height, but then again a lot of professional huntsmen had weird weapons too, right?

Aymeric slowly turned as the voice of someone sounded off, he hadn't noticed anyone walking over, nor had he noticed the female who wasn't far off from where he had been standing. He stayed silent for a moment with his arms crossed as he studying them like he would a target he was hunting. This was mainly because he was trying to figure out what it was he wanted to say, he wasn't good with words mainly since he didn't talk a lot. "I guess." He finally commented not wanting to be weird by letting the silence last forever. He then turned his gaze back to the window not really knowing how to carry on a conversation to him it was already over. He wasn't used to small talk. However he turned back around not wanting to be rude it was clear he just didn't know how to act in this situation. Sure he read books, but he had never really had a social interaction before. "I think I'mma go to bed." He finally decided to give an excuse. He just wanted to get to tomorrow so he could see how his skills faired with people who had someone train them.

(Sorry, haven't had the muse to put this post together but I guess I'll try.)
"I'm in the right place then," Sev joked. He wouldn't say he was socially awkward himself, but a lot of other people probably considered him that way given his blunt speech and disregard for what others thought of him. He might as well embrace it now. At the girl's second sentence he cast a sidelong glance at the taller male who'd so awkwardly excused himself. "Yeah, you're definitely not the only one." Sev shifted his eyes from the man to a group of people past him- faces he'd seen before at Signal but never bothered to speak to. He returned his gaze to meet the woman's, admitting with a shrug, "Heck, I used to go to school with these people but I barely remember most of their names. Guess this'll be a fresh start." Sev shifted his weight to the other foot, pausing for a moment before changing the subject. "I haven't seen you around, though. Not from around here?" It was possible that she hadn't attended prior combat schools, but more likely that she'd gone to one of the other kingdom's schools and come here for some reason. Either way it would be interesting to see how she differed from the other students in technique and fighting style.
