Summary:
Deerkit is a young kit born into RainClan with her sister, Fernkit. The two sisters have always gotten along well. But when a prophecy threatens the Clan, the two young kits are apprenticed, and when Fernpaw gets sick, Deerpaw realizes her worst Nightmares are coming true.

Deerpaw's ears twitched, and she gazed around the apprentice's den.
Where is Fernpaw? She wondered. Deerpaw looked around the empty apprentice den. It was strange of Fernpaw not to be in her nest in the middle of the night. At first, Deerpaw wondered if Fernpaw went to make dirt, but as she leaned over to sniff Fernpaw's nest, she realized her sister was very, very sick.

Prologue
A pretty tortoiseshell padded through a starry forest, her eyes bright with excitement. Her amber eyes glowed, and her tail twitched back and forth as she padded on. Suddenly, a black tom cat padded out to stand in front of her. She fluffed out her fur, beginning to unsheathe her claws, then stopped.
"Darknight!" She exclaimed, sheathing her claws, "why'd you sneak up on me? I told you to stop doing that!"
The black tom shrugged and licked his shoulder.
"I didn't sneak up on you," he meowed, "I simply padded out of the bushes in front of you." The tortoiseshell sat down and flicked her tail. She gave him an affectionate cuff with one of her front paws.
"Oh, Darknight," she purred, "you stupid StreamClan cats have always loved sneaking up on other cats." Darknight sighed.
"I already told you I didn't sneak up on you." He meowed. As he opened his jaws to say more, another cat came dashing out from behind him, startling both Darknight and the tortoiseshell. The cat that had startled them was a reddish-brown she-cat with panicked yellow eyes.
"Dawnrose, what's wrong?" The tortoiseshell asked, looking worried. Dawnrose panted and flicked her tail.
"Dark Forest cats," she panted, "they're in our territory. T-they want to talk to you Dappleleaf." Dawnrose meowed to the tortoiseshell. Dappleleaf blinked, alarmed. Darknight gave her a startled glance.
"You can't really be thinking about talking to the Dark Forest cats! Have you forgotten how they have been plotting against StarClan, especially since we joined?"
Dappleleaf sighed.
"No, Darknight, I haven't forgotten. It's just..." Her voice trailed off and she glanced at her paws. Darknight put his head to one side.
"It's just what?" He asked. Dappleleaf trembled.
"Knowing the Dark Forest cats, they'll probably do something horrible to someone if I don't go." She meowed, looking horrified. Dawnrose padded over to her and nudged her gently.
"Don't worry, Dappleleaf," she purred. "There are eight StarClan cats making sure they don't come. You don't have to come if you don't want to," Dawnrose meowed. Dappleleaf shook her head.
"Of course I'll go." She meowed. Her eyes blazed with anger, and she added, "I haven't forgotten what they tried to do to Spiderpaw after he joined StarClan."
Darknight nodded, his eyes narrowing.
"He was nearly taken to the Dark Forest, and for something his brother did." He growled, flicking his tail. Dappleleaf nodded, and flicked her tail.
"Come on," she meowed, "let's go!"
The three StarClan cats ran through the starry forest, halting when they saw a group of of cats being blocked off by a row of starry cats. Dappleleaf and Darknight pushed through the row of cats to stand in front of the other cats, while Dawnrose stayed to the back, looking fretful. The cat in the lead of the enemy cats was a thick-furred gray tom with blazing yellow eyes. The gray tom twisted his muzzle into a sneer when the two starry cats stopped in front of him.
"Well, well, well, now what do we have here? A couple of StarClan cats who belong with us, in the Dark Forest?" The tom sneered, looking from Darknight to Dappleleaf. One of the StarClan cats from the battle line came to stand by Darknight's side. He was a small black tom with a white ear and green eyes.
"All they did was become mates!" The small black tom spat. "Can't you get over it? They only even broke the code for a short time, before Darknight went to join Dappleleaf in RainClan!" He hissed. Darknight gave the small black tom a warning glance, but he ignored him.
"They never got anyone killed did they?" The black tom snarled, not backing down. The gray tom glared at him.
"They deserve to be in the Dark Forest! As does Spiderpaw! Where is that fool, anyways?" He asked, giving the air a disdainful sniff.
"He's safe from you!" The black tom spat, lashing his tail angrily. Darknight nodded.
"Blackpaw's right," he meowed, "Spiderpaw did nothing to belong in the Dark Forest, unlike you!" He spat, his fur bristling.
"What do you want from us? You also wanted to take us as well!" Darknight snarled, lashing his tail side to side. The gray tom glowered at him, then flicked his tail.
"I wanted to tell you that I will set a curse upon two kits. And I have a prophecy." He said, an evil glint in his eye. Dappleleaf stepped forward and lashed her tail.
"A prophecy, from a Dark Forest cat? Graydusk, you must really be insane!" She snorted. Beside the dark gray tom- Graydusk- an angry hiss came from a black she-cat.
"Silence!" The black she-cat hissed, her amber eyes blazing. Graydusk stepped forward and began to speak:
"A drop of blood will split into three, and when one drop vanishes, two will remain, and their blood will spill the blood of others."
