Iceflight kept her gaze even but her posture open as Pricklepaw entered the clearing. She knew the apprentice was somewhat timid, and that they would need to make her think she was welcome before she could really be pushed. All the same, she had chosen Heronscale, who had had a similarly disappointing start. She felt he could convince her where others could perhaps not.
"Welcome" she called out, her voice echoing through the unusual forest surroundings. Iceflight could not see the other cats yet, but she felt her presence, drawing ever nearer to her location.
(Possum, who do you want to train Slatestorm? i could make an extra DF warrior as well, or you could do blossum. either way)

((i feel a little bit like choosing blossomtail would mean i'm basically rping with myself, but i'll fine with doing blossomtail with slatestorm if you don't want to make a new cat just to train her!))

Blossomtail could take Prickle and Heronscale can fight Slatestorm. He is a bit...rougher so i dont think he'd do well for the aplrentice's first fight in the DF. But yea. Italics is in the past. At the moment it's not so bad since no one else has responded. From what ive seen, Cinder has gotten a response from Prickle and Smoke. If we want to move on once the others join in, it might be confusing. Hopefully it wont be too bad tho since i wouldnt want to ask the others to wait on the DF quick session to finish ^^")

Slatestorm eventually found the clearing as well, padding in looking as composed as she could muster. She flicked her tail in greeting quickly to Pricklepaw, spotting the apprentice. "Hey, Iceflight, I'm here too!" she called up, immediately wishing she had said it in a more respectful manner.

Iceflight tried not to look disappointed. She knew that the small apprentice was capable of the greatness she foretold of her, but for now she was somewhat... lackluster. Perhaps Heronscale could wait a bit longer to dig into the apprentice. For now, perhaps, a smaller warrior would do. Blossomtail was fierce, but the smaller she-cat would have less a chance of seriously harming the apprentice...
She pricked her ears forward, her attention on Pricklepaw but also following the presence of the other cat in the forest. She wondered if the white apprentice would finally appear that night..
"Pricklepaw, it is good to see you again. How has your training with the clan progressed?" She asked simply, easing in slowly with the apprentice while she waited for the other cats to join. She made no greeting towards Slatestorm, wanting the warrior to know she did not accept such an informal introduction. A warrior of her age should know better, and by the time they were finished with her, she would.( sweetclover1 Hey, is cloudypaw going to join in? )

((slatestorm: (to self) aw beans i hecked up the greeting. i'll never be a super shadow warrior now))
Slatestorm felt her ears burn hot with shame as she immediately got the message. Well, that was a terrible way to start off. She reminded herself that these cats were essentially second mentors to her, and as such she needed to view them as above her. She was not to talk to them as though they were friends of hers. "I... I'm sorry." she said weakly, her voice lowering. She was tempted to add 'it won't happen again', but if she knew if she broke that promise it'd be far worse than if she didn't say it at all.
Blossomtail looked over the two arrivals. The raspy-voiced apprentice was admittedly puny, for lack of a kinder term, but seemed rather eager to train - as eager as someone could be in a place like this. The warrior, on the other hand, was not the best at first impressions, crumpling effortlessly under pressure. Both easy to manipulate, she supposed, but the Dark Forest cats weren't the only cats capable of manipulation. Blossomtail considered sharing her misgivings about the two and the potential intervention of StarClan after the session, but she knew she was already on rather thin ice (ha) with Iceflight already. No, she didn't visibly laugh or smile at her own pun. It wasn't THAT funny.

Heronscale had to refrain from rolling his eyes. At least the apprentice had a good excuse for acting like a kit since they basically were one. As for the warrior, well they'd see how informal they felt they could be with Iceflight. Even he didnt speak with her in such a way. He wondered where they would go from here.

(lmao Possum I love your dialogue its so good)
Iceflight feigned satisfaction, nodding her head at Pricklepaw. "Very good Pricklepaw. Your eagerness to learn and improve will be your strength." It was true, and she knew it. Pricklepaw had an unnerving desire to prove herself in light of her circumstances, and it would make her easy to mold.
Iceflight turned her head to Slatestorm, fixing her gaze on the warrior, whose composure was weak, to say it lightly. "Slatestorm, you should take this opportunity to learn from your fellow trainee. She has come eager to learn and has taken it upon herself to work on her training on her own. What have you come with today?" She meowed, testing to see if the warrior would break under her pressure. She knew Slatestorm was eager to please as well, but her experience made her cocky, and less desirable in a way, compared to Pricklepaw. However, she had been training an apprentice, and in this she had a sort of advantage, in that she could work like Badgerheart to sway younger cats towards their cause.

((i'm just gonna.... assume that a bunch of training sessions between lightningpaw and slatestorm happened offscreen, because it would be plain silly if slatestorm did NOTHING with her apprentice this whole time.))
"I u-understand." Slatestorm took a deep breath, trying to regain her composure. The intensity in Iceflight's gaze chilled Slatestorm to the bone. "I have been focusing on training my apprentice, Lightningpaw. Has she been visited, too?" She thought it entirely possible that if her apprentice was visiting the Dark Forest, she'd not been told, as the whole thing was being kept rather hush-hush... but she had the feeling that Lightningpaw, with her current skill level, had never been here.

(Honestly Lightningpaw is kindof a good idea for a trainee, since she's kinda rude and arrogant, according to her description, but I don't think Winter Hawk has petitioned for her to be a DF warrior, so no plans for her yet.)
Iceflight nodded "Lightningpaw certainly has potential, and with you training her, she could become a cat fearsome enough even to join those gathered here. I hope you teach her well to respect her mentors." She added pointedly, and then stared out into the far reaches of the gloomy forest.
"There are warriors who join us today who have lived lives to earn their fearsome warrior names, whose skill in battle and dedication to strength has allowed them to join us here in this forest of endless power. they have never stopped training, never stopped yearning for battle and chances to show off their strength. Today, both of you will be greeted by one of these warriors, and you will begin your training as one of my chosen cats. Soon, you will be able to outmatch and outwit even the brightest and strongest Twilightclan warriors." She called out, her voice commanding the atmosphere within the clearing.
"Are you both ready?"

(Ok, thanks trinkets!) Thornclover jumped up in excitement. "I would like to join Cinderstorm! But we must be careful in this storm, it looks like a bad one, and it's going to get bigger." Thornclover shivered at the thought that the storm could easily get a cat lost from the clan.

Heronscale's eyes glittered dangerously as he stepped out into the clearing. His tail swayed against the ground. He was more than ready to fight. Althiugh he knew he'd be watched by even the older cats so he'd have to show he could hold back when required. Who knew. Maybe he'd get one of the kiving ones to train. It would certainly be interesting.

( I see no reason to assign mentors/trainees when it comes to the DF so whatever you guys want will work for me. I would also be willing to RP a new DF cat to get thigns working more smoothly, if thats what we need. I want Iceflight to mostly concentrate on Cloudpaw and Moonheart though, so I don't see her training anyone else)

Slatestorm dipped her head, dropping into a battle stance. "Yes, I'm ready." she answered, ensuring her voice was taking on a more formal tone.
Blossomtail noticed Heronscale step out into the clearing. A bit hasty, wasn't he? She turned to Iceflight. "May I participate as well?" she asked in an almost saccharine voice.

(Yea. They'd probably train some in groups and others solo depending on what would make them feel more comfortable. Would Pricklepaw be better in a group? And Badgerheart could probably lend a paw if they need it)

(I think in the books the DF started training them solo and then brought them in for group training. But since they've already introduced them to each other, i dont think they'd need to keep them separate. I'll respond to the whole patrol once all the people who have offered their cats bring them up Miss
Edited in: as far as im aware, we're still waiting on Palecloud and Noisepaw)

Noisepaw winced slightly at the comment. They didn't find that particularly funny... "Pricklepaw, are you going to be alright?" they asked Pricklepaw as she headed to her mentor, more than a little concerned.

Iceflight looked first at Slatestorm, who seemed to be emanating confidence and excitement now- quite a transition. She seemed to react positively to direct attention- something that Iceflight would make note of.
Iceflight twitched her tail, signaling the Dark Forest cats to emerge if they so wished. She then turned to Pricklepaw, who seemed to be growing nervous with the introduction of more shadowy cats. "Pricklepaw, I want you to watch at first. You need to understand the kind of training you will be expected to perform from now on." She meowed, matter of factly. It wouldn't do to simply begin with the apprentice- she would need to be shown first, so she wouldn't awaken immediately with the shock of being attacked.
"Slatestorm, you will begin first." She said, and gestured to Heronscale who was padding just outside of the cats small gathering, to step forward. Her face showed no emotion, but she need not communicate the threat that was evident in her body language- he was to attack, but not in such a way to mortally wound her. They didn't need any suspicions arising once the cats woke up. She also gave a small nod to Blossomtail, gesturing for her to take a place near Pricklepaw. The two would most likely pair up nicely.

Heronscale's ears twitched, but he'd gotten the message. Twice now. He supposed he'd just have to wait to take down some living cats. Or maybe one would try to betray the DF. That was always fun. It made for a nice show, after all. It appeared his opponent was fairly confident. It would make for an interesting fight. Was she cocky enough to make the first move? He'd have to wait to find out...
Cinderstorm shook her head. "Death is no joke, Pricklepaw." She flicked her apprentices ear gently but firmly. "Especially not your own. You'll be fine. And I'm sure the others will find something for the rest to do." She nodded to the other cats as they all padded forward. She kept a keen eye on Ivypaw. Would he join them? Probably not if Badgerheart wasn't.

Slatestorm stepped forward, feeling the need to brace herself. Ivypaw had beaten her in battle and he was only an apprentice, so Heronscale would likely be far more powerful. She supposed that was why it was training, though - if she could beat her mentor on the first day, she wouldn't NEED training. She just needed to show she could hold her own as well as she could even in odds she couldn't beat.
Blossomtail leaped down with a bit of flair, not quite sitting beside Pricklepaw but still in close proximity to her. She looked at Slatestorm and Heronscale intently, eager to see what Slatestorm was capable of.

Noisepaw brightened up at the offer. "Of course I'll come along!" They then paused for a second, turning to Cinderstorm. "If... that's alright, I mean!"

Heronscale's eyes narrowed. So she was waiting, huh? They'd see how good she was. He'd been told she practically lost to Ivypaw so she couldn't be that good.... He lunged, claws out, and made a slash at her muzzle
Cinderstorm nodded. "Of course, although I think you should ask Breezewhisper before heading out." She wouldn't want to intrude on another mentor's training with their apprentice. It was rude after all.

Slatestorm dodged back a little too late, wincing when the claws connected with her muzzle. They were training with claws unsheathed? She knew training sessions in this place would likely be different from those of living TwilightClan cats, but dear StarClan that caught her off-guard! The salty tang of her own blood in her mouth and the sting of pain snapped her out of thought, and she leapt backwards for a moment to gather her bearings before leaping at him, aiming to knock him over. She'd rather not be at the receiving end of claws like those again.
((i wasn't entirely sure about having her think "dear StarClan" now that she's training in the Dark Forest, but it's not like she's sworn off StarClan, and it's not like the phrase "dear god" is actually a religious thing (unless you make it one? but it's usually not) so,,))
