Fictive ;; adjective created by the imagination From time to time, my imagination outpaces itself and confuses my mind, often causes me to write something without meaning to and so I lag behind on what I'm supposed to be doing, and instead focus on my brain and its whimsical creations. I will admit that it is very rare that I act on my brain's imaginings, however, and that while I have had a plot thread before, this one is solely for those that just can't stay within my brain. The plots you will find within this thread will be those purely of my own design, things dragged from the depths, often kicking and screaming. Possibly even keening. Either way, they start to grow out of my control and there comes a time where I would quite enjoy to write them out, though they do not call for a singular person's imagination, but that of multiple. Most often two, which I find is possibly one of my favourite numbers. It is no lie that my borders are often erratic and that I tend to become slowly bored with replies that don't capture my interest. This is something I freely admit. I find it much harder to respond to a post that is all for the length and nothing for the content; I enjoy an even mix of both. My general word range is generally somewhere from 500 to 1500, often leaning to the midway range between the two. Anything more is keenly welcomed, though I need to be able to respond. It is no good giving me a 2500 word response with nothing for me to respond to. All in all, I tend to match with lengths, but as mentioned - I become quickly bored with replies that don't manage to entice me. Really, it is not too hard to do this. All you need to do is to ensure that your character has some sort of depth, that they're going to grow as a person because of events and that they aren't going to reply in the same way to various things. If I say "jump" and they start by saying "how high?", I expect their character development to possibly end with me saying "jump" and them saying "but why?" - if you catch my drift. In any sort of plot, characters are of the utmost importance to me. You could have the world's most bog-standard plot, but if the characters develop and have depth, then it could become one of the most interesting. Does this make sense? A plot is nothing without characters to make it move forward. You, of course, have say in the direction the plot goes. I am not the ultimate ruler; I come up with a plot, I have a character, and it's your job to have another character and to work with me. We can bounce ideas from each-other, talk about what happens. If I have a duplicate of a plot, it needs to go in a different direction, and if you work to make the plot adjust into something more unique and suited to the both of us, then it'll be more fun! Just saying 'yes' or 'nah' and never truly contributing can make it tiring to roleplay, because neither of us will be getting our fill. When it comes to activity, I do expect a roleplay post maybe two times a week, because I can generally fill that quota. Possibly more, if you can, because there's nothing more unnerving than sitting there wondering what's going to happen in a plot; but honestly, I'm relaxed. Considering I have work and college, I can be fairly busy and generally spotty; but I will come online to chat, and so there's that! If you're fine with just talking when neither of us particularly wish to work up the energy to roleplay, then you have come to the right place. Of course, basic roleplay etiquette applies; do not control my character, your character cannot dodge all hits, neither of our characters will be all-knowing nor know anything about the other character if it hasn't been stated out loud/talked about out of character, and so on. I am fine with creating a separate thread [or with you creating another thread], and I am fine with private messaging. This thread, however, is for the plots and claiming and possibly talking about ideas if none of the plots appeal to you but you wish to roleplay anyway.
Now, if I haven't managed to scare everyone away, here's a little thing for joining, just so I can keep track; name of character for plot name age of character, followed by gender and which muse they are small physical description of character. include face-claim if you truly wish. screen-name
If possible, please attach an average roleplay sample. Alternately, you can link me to a thread with your average roleplay posts; either is fine, but I'd quite like to see a sample!

Quotidian ;; adjective of or occurring every day; daily. The Rhythm of Life adult-age characters, thirty and above. no specified genders.
For x, life is a sort of...average thing. They wake up, they go to work, they do this, and so on. It is as mundane as it is necessary, and it is often hard for them to believe that back in high school, they used to have dreams of entering the acting industry. It is, of course, something like fate when a casting crew enters their small town in search for someone quite like them, and with the fact that they have natural talent as well as practice from being in the neighbourhood drama group, they pounce on the chance. They need something to do with their life, and if they get pushed back, it's not a big deal. They'll still have life to get on with. Despite everything, however, x manages to land the role. Their biggest dream appears to be coming true. Their dreams feels like a sinking stone in the pit of their stomach, however, when they learn who one of their fellow leads is going to be. One of the few people from high school that they actually remember, y. Now, it's no secret that y is talented, has managed to be in the acting industry from a fairly young age, and to make it hurt a little more, they have no recollection of x. As far as they're concerned, x is a fellow cast-member who they need to be polite to, at the very least. Tensions rise due to bad blood in the past. The two, see, used to be fairly good friends. X would go to y's house, they'd do projects together, they were in a fair few classes together, and they went to the same performing arts club. However, in their senior year, y was accepted into a performing arts college and landed a role in a television series. X did not. Perhaps it's something of jealous, or perhaps it's the fact that they've worked so hard to get where they are now [in their first role] whereas y appears to have had it easy. Things, however, are not that simple, as x begins to learn as the two work together.
Stressed Out young adult-age characters, mid twenties. no specified genders.
Moving into a new apartment is also stressful, and for x, it's their first home away from their parents. That, of course, just makes it more stressful. While they have a set job [which they're thankful for] and they're getting along in life decently, this move marks the beginning of their life away from home, a life where they have to actually act like the adult they are; pay bills, pay rent, all of that good stuff. The people in their apartment complex are friendly enough too, often inviting them to parties in other apartments. On a whim and due to the fact they don't have work the next day, x accepts the third or fourth invite that they're given, and they head to the apartment in question. Said apartment is right underneath them, and they can't be more glad that they're actually at the party rather than suffering through the music alone. Despite themselves, they end up staying and socialising, and at some point during the night, they pass out or something similar; either way, they wake up alone in an unfamiliar apartment. This is y's apartment. After a long night shift at their own job, they enter to find x, which causes some anxiety for x, convinced that y will think that they've broken in. Instead, however, y understands; their room-mate, who they live with only because of obligation or something similar, often throws parties, and so the two begin to talk. For a while, x finds it strange that they've never encountered y; until they find out that y works multiple jobs and is also currently fighting for custody of their young child. Overall, while x might be stressed out, they can understand how y is also stressed out, and so the two begin to talk more often when they see each-other.
Game Face young-adult characters, late teens to early twenties. no specified genders.
Social lives online are often more rich and fulfilling for people than talking face-to-face, and so x has had their online fried, y, for years. The two met through an online game that was later shut down, and they've been talking for years - sometimes only from time to time, sometimes constantly. They've voice-called and video-called, sent each-other various pictures of their lives and so on. Honestly, their friendship is something that they'd deem "great". Of course, meeting in real-life means that there's a higher chance that one will say something the other hears wrongly, and so on. X and y find out that y has moved to the town that x lives in, and for a short time, it's something of excitement for x. While they know that their friend is often busy, they also really want to meet them; and so, despite y's reluctance, the two arrange a meet-up in a place that both of them know. When they meet, as expected, it's tense. Y is nothing like they were online; while online they seemed to be social and generally excitable, they're much quieter in real-life. This baffles x, who has always managed to portray themselves as they truly are over the internet. Either way, they're not sure if they like it, and the two have to decide if they want their friendship to continue now that x knows that y isn't as friendly as they often come off as. [bonus: one of the two is a rising youtuber, popular and often talking about their internet friend and so the meeting is anticipated.]

Arcane ;; adjective understood by few; mysterious or secret. The World is Quiet Here adult-aged characters, mid twenties and above. no specified genders. [vaguely based from welcome to night vale]
There's a little town in Arizona that is not on any map, and this is where things are said to happen. What sort of things, you ask? Well, it's hard to say. Sometimes people go missing and turn up in Japan without actually having flown at all. Sometimes mysterious orbs float around, whispering for people to do something or other. Sometimes howling can be heard, but no-one actually wants to say what it is. Enter x, a scientist with something to prove. This little town could be their chance at rising up, they're completely convinced that they can solve the mystery of the town! Of course, when they meet y, resident expert in the weird happenings, things fall apart from there. They're warned to leave, then they're told they can never leave, and then they find out that their equipment can't quite tell what's happening, always on the verge of understanding but never quite hitting it. Desperation leads them to ask y about the town, only to find out that it simply doesn't exist. That can't be right, they decide, and so they steel themselves to learn the secrets, to dig up everything they can - of course, they need y's help to do it.
Bookstore adult-aged characters, early twenties and above. no specified genders.
When x's grandfather dies, they're left his bookstore in the will. They fully intend on selling it on, but after an inspection of the premises, they find that they can't. For whatever reason, the store itself holds so many secrets and so much history that they can't bring themselves to sell it. Despite having a job that they like, they decide that they can work here and try to bring it back up to how it used to be - a friendly little bookstore with all sorts of books. For the most part, it works well - people come and go and business is decent. It's generally quiet on weekends, when people seem to have better things to do. It is on a quiet Saturday that they notice someone in the bookstore; though the bell above the door did not sound and they did not realise that someone was even here. They watch the person scan through the books, ask if they can be helped. Being talked to, however, seems to startle y, who isn't quite sure what to say. Eventually, y questions x on their ability to "see" - which just confuses x and causes them to leave the stranger alone. Over the course of the next few weeks, they notice y more. They never see them leave or enter, but they always see them. They confront y after a short while, and find out something that they can't believe: y is a ghost, having been murdered in the basement of the bookstore, and they're stuck here until they get proper closure.
Missed Me? adult-age characters, thirty and above. no specified genders. [set in this section for fantasy possibilities]
The Kingdom of Khidia and the Kingdom of Taezuvai have been at war for the past twenty years. Neither are willing to give up ground, both of them are convinced that the other has done something wrong. Suddenly, however, things stop. The King of Khidia dies and instead of x, the heir, taking over, the bastard son and x's half-brother does. This doesn't make sense to x, who knew that they were supposed to step up - before they can, however, their own army turns against them and they're suddenly shipped somewhere else. Specifically: they are shipped to Taezuvai. It's not uncommon for war prisoners to be taken, but if they're not at war because the King has died, why is x being sent there? They are a war hero, they've won many battles for their Kingdom! Khidia would not just send their heir and best soldier to Taezuvai, an enemy Kingdom. That just isn't how anything works. If anything, it's the opposite of how everything works, and so they're quite concerned about what's happening. Their concern is only backed up by the fact that they're warmly welcomed by the Taezuvai royal family, suddenly treated as if they belonged there all along. It is with a shock that the realisation hits; the Taezuvish royal family are convinced that they're their missing/dead child, which would make them unable to rise to the throne of Khidia, and it would make them sixth or seventh in line for Taezuvai. It doesn't make any sense; they knew the missing Taezuvish child. Frankly, they're desperate to claim their own throne and escape this strange land, eager to back away from everything and instead try to find out what's happening. They meet y, a servant who's assigned specifically to x, and has to be hiding something. They never truly answer x's questions, always manages to dodge around anything relating to the missing Taezuvish child. If anything, they seem vaguely amused that they're being asked. Determination is x's main motivator, and so they keep y close and try to catch them out, all while trying to adjust to the life that they're forced to lead until they can return home.

Transgression ;; noun an act that goes against the law, rule, or code of conduct; an offense. The Morning Star adult-age characters, late twenties and above. no specified genders.
One of the youngest team leaders in Special Ops, x is someone who is often likened to a wolf in how keenly they hunt. Their team is handpicked and they're generally favoured by their superiors; frankly, the FBI relies on them a lil' more than they'd like to admit, and x loves it. They're confident in themselves, confident in their team, and often confident that they won't go over their quarterly budget - because what kind of team leader would they be if they couldn't even budget? It starts to get rocky, of course, when they're hunting y; the two meet when x is undercover at a rather posh party, where y is targeting the rich family's favoured diamond and x has had a tip-off. Confident that their team is good at this, x doesn't think to double-check anything, and they lose track of y not too long after meeting them. Suddenly, communications go down with two people and they're forced into action. Y succeeds in stealing the diamond, and that's a mission fail. In all honesty, x is shocked at themselves, but they decide that they can probably recover from it. All they have to do is find y again, right? Well, it seems to be easier than that; y is attacked by their own temporary boss and manages to find a number to call x on, and so it's the beginning of a thief cooperating with x's team to get the diamond back. Needless to say, x's team isn't so sure of it.
Detectiveisms adult-age characters, mid twenties and above. no specified genders.
Working for the police has its perks and x can't deny that, but they're tired and they don't particularly get on well with the people that they have to talk to, and hiring translators and the like is just tiring. Their job is made so much harder by the fact that they can't really do much without calling people in to help them do this and that, and considering the fact that x is undoubtedly a brilliant detective, they feel like they're hindered. Enter y, who successfully manages to break into x's house one day. They're homeless and tired and on the run from their past, and so it seems like a good message when the house seems empty. Of course, x returns unexpectedly and catches y, only to recognise y as the child of the local mafia boss. Considering the local mafia doesn't speak English and that's why x needs so many translators, they give y a chance to redeem themselves: in exchange for a roof over their head and food and hot water, y has to translate their parent's messages and the rest of the evidence from the mafia accurately.

Prevailing ;; adjective existing at a particular time; current. Don't Fear the Reaper teenage characters, mid teens. no specified genders. shadowhunters-based.
Their entire family is taken down by werewolves, a savage pack that convinces them that every werewolf is like that. It's no lie that x is a great Shadowhunter, but their viciousness is unmatched - they believe that Downworlders should not be on equal footing with Shadowhunters, and it feels quite like history is repeating itself. They're determined to show others that they should not even look at werewolves, vampires, warlocks, or fae. Unfortunately for them, the family they're sent to live with due to the fact that they're a minor are rather friendly with Downworlders; vampires are allowed to stay in the Sanctuary if they really have no place to go, werewolves are, too. Warlocks sometimes come to talk to the Head of the Institute, and the fae are quite content with them, too. It's x's worst nightmare, and so they confront y, the Head of the Institute's child, about it. Y finds amusement in x's aversion to Downworlders, and finds it even more amusing that they genuinely want all Downworlders to be seen as evil. Considering that y is quite friendly with most of the Downworlders of their own age, they decide that they might as well try to change x's mind about how they feel, to see if they really feel that way or if they're just too angry to care about who they're targeting the anger towards.
Look Away various ages of characters; multiple characters needed no specified genders. a series of unfortunate events-based [books mainly; partially the show].
Two orphaned children, a mystery concerning the VFD, and many guardians. Also, two adults who are quite concerned with the wellbeing of the children, but can't quite find them because a ridiculous banker insists on moving them to the wrong home, and so some unsavoury characters have picked up on the fact that the children's parents have left a good fortune. [note: the two children do not have to be related; they can simply be left with the same guardians due to convenience and a friendship between their families, etc.]

Rei Brookes for "Stressed Out" Roughly 24 years old almost to 25, genderfluid (prefers they/them pronouns) as muse X Rei may act big and bad, but they stand at 5'3". Not only that, but they're rather slim, and more toned than having actual muscle to compensate for physical strength. If made fun of for being small, it's guaranteed that the offender will have a fist lodged where it hurts. Their skin is very pale, almost borderline translucent. They have short, boyish, messy, black hair that is styled into a bit of an undercut. On their skin, there are some black tribal tattoos on their biceps and ankles, plus black angel wings on their shoulder blades. Their features are rather angular and relatively androgynous, especially due to an angular jaw, pale and lips, defined cheekbones, and thick eyelashes that frame pale blue eyes. Rivermagic (Well, we've roleplayed together before, so I think you have a decent idea of my average roleplay responses. I think the "Stressed Out" plot is super cute and I'd love to give it a try if you're game )

Skul - Yeah I think I can make two a week if I'm on at weekends. The only reason I'm letting you know I might not always be able to make it is that I've got five months of very scheduled exam revision until my GCSEs this year so I will likely be quite inactive.
I think I like The Morning Star, if I can claim it? I don't think I'll have time to start it tonight but I can work on a form for tomorrow if you're cool with that?)

I figure if you make it, you could also have a link connecting back to this rp thread for the sake of promoting it, plus it could also make it easier for you to post your character on the main page of the thread for the sake of having it all set up and formulated. I can easily have Rei's response once it's up there

Hello! I would actually like to discuss plots with you and such. Your plots seemed interesting but nothing grabbed me. I didn't want to get ahead of myself so here is a example.
Dennis let his hand slowly drift over the book's spine. He could feel the dust slowly collect on his fingers and held back a grunt of disgust. Recently, his grandfather had passed away and apparently the old man had decided to leave the store to his grandson, the college dropout. His family was left in shock and, for some, outrage. For weeks, the family had debated over who had true ownership of the store, as if his grandfather's will contained no power of its own.
Their worries weren't unfounded. Dennis had no business skills or experience with the field. He had been going to college to become a doctor and that had 'fallen through' just a couple months back. He knew they viewed him as a failure, or just someone unworthy to lead the elder's beloved book store. Everyone in his family had a love for the old man's bookstore and knew it was his life's joy. They were reluctant about leaving it in a dropout's hands, who they assumed had left school due to laziness or the inability to work. They were only half right in their assumptions. A bitter taste grew in the man's mouth as he thought about his college experience. He quickly shoved the thoughts away and started to stack the books.
In the end, it had come to his choice. With no other prospects and something tugging at his heart, he agreed to take on the store. However, after months of debating and then processing information to convert ownership, the store had collected a thin layer of dust and some spiders had made their home in the corners. He had to stop himself from running back out the door when he spotted one of the arachnids baring a tiny, red hourglass. However, with a well-aimed shoe, he managed to rid the world of one more spider. Later, others would join the little guy in spider-heaven, not that Dennis would believe in such ridiculous things.
Dennis, having noting to do before but stare at his debt, had plenty of time to clean up the store. It was a small, quant store, but it was packed with books. Books that were unarranged and stacked up in corners. His sick grandfather must have not felt well enough to keep arranging it after some pesky customers just shoved the books back wherever they pleased. Point was, he was still cleaning it after he had opened. Customers were few and far in-between and fairly independent, so he could dust and organize while they browsed. Now, he just had the storage room to worry about. It was Saturday and business was slow so he thought he would be able to get away with sticking to the back and just listening for the chime of the bell.

So I changed my mid on which plot I wanted and made a character for Muse Y in "Detectiveisms", I hope you're alright with that? I'm going to do a role-play sample in my next post, just so I'm not cluttering up this post too much XD
Carmen Garcia, age 25, for "Detectiveisms"
Carmen is average height and rather curvy, with an hourglass figure and caramel coloured skin. She has a slightly square-shaped face due to her wide jaw and prominent cheekbones. She has dark brown eyes and her hair is coal black and falls in loose curls down past her shoulders, though she usually just puts it in a ponytail to keep it out of her way - she hates the hair falling in her face all of the time and she gets quite impatient with it if she's entirely honest. She has a nose piercing as well as a tattoo on her collarbone which is just the word 'Esperenza'.
Carmen is street-smart and resourceful, with a practical mind and a sharp wit to go along with it. She knows how to take advantage of a situation and how to be independent. She is also quite tough, though she may not seem it on the outside, with a more than reasonable ability to handle herself in a fight if she needs to. She isn't afraid to lie if she needs to, either, though she won't lie unless it's to protect herself. She doesn't trust people particularly easily, particularly with the circumstances she has found herself in recently. She just wants to move on with her life, though her past seems to follow her everywhere

[Here's my role-play sample. I tend to match post length and so I can do much longer than this, but this is close to my average length and it gives some idea of how I rp
It seemed that young Marion Sheffield had chosen a very beautiful evening to walk in the gardens. The air was sweet and heady with the scent of the fragrant flowers, there was a soft breeze, and the sky was covered with the most vibrant tones of salmon pink and oranges so bright they might as well have been flames. It really was a very beautiful evening for a stroll.
The reason Marion was out here was that she desperately needed to clear her head and to take a break a little bit. The nightly festivities would be starting before long and that meant a night of music, dancing, receiving uncomfortable looks from various lords and generally just trying to compete with the other ladies. This was a once in a lifetime chance, a prince coming to the throne, because with a new king meant a new mistress (or two) and the higher you were in the socal hierarchy of the courts when the prince was coronated, the more likely you would be to be chosen as his mistress. And that meant big things indeed for anyone who was chosen.
Being chosen as a mistresss meant that they could have power and influence over the King almost equal to the Queen's. And if you influenced the King, you essentially controlled the country. Not only this, but if anything were to happen to the Queen, the mistress would be the natural choice to replace her. So all the more status and influence for the chosen lady, in that case.
Marion's thoughts were interrupted when she was a figure climbing down from a window. And it was a woman, too. Well, how unladylike that was. She couldn't think of anything more unladylike, actually. And strange, too. It isn't like the windows were the only way to get down, so why was she choosing to do that?
It was only when she got closer that she realised that the woman was actually the Scottish queen, and she dipped into a curtsey as the queen apologised for the words she has been speaking before, words which would have been gossip-worthy if Msrion was a gossip. Luckily for the queen, she wasn't.
"No need to apologise, Your Majesty, it is quite alright," Marion replied with a smile "Lady Marion Sheffield, pleased to make your acquaintance. I was not aware you would be at the court today"]

i only asked for a physical description
but yeah no thats fine for that plot, though i will be hitting 1.5k mark a fair bit if you give me things to work with because i have a lot of muse for it - but equally, if i dont have much to work with im likely to lose muse for it. if you think you can handle that then yeah im fine with you having that plot

Thanks for letting me have the plot! Like I said, I tend to try and match post length, so 1.5k should be okay for me, especially if you have a lot of muse for it because you'll give me a lot to reply to. I'm sure it'l work just fine but if you start to lose muse or anything please do let me know because I don't want to keep you in a plot you don't feel like rping]
