So, some people believe that the omen meant Mapleshade's kits didn't belong in ThunderClan given that they showed more signs of having RiverClan traits and possibly would've brought some sort of danger to the Clan had they stayed. Others believe that it was a self-fulfilling prophecy and I've even seem some people think that the omen was referring to the three cats Mapleshade would kill.
I'm personally leaning more towards the first one since it does seem to make the most sense, but then I thought of another theory, one that seems like it might be pretty unlikely, but I'd still like to see what you guys think.
StarClan have never really interfered with forbidden relationships before (unless you count Moonflower and Snowfur appearing while Bluestar was meeting Oakheart interference, as well as Yellowfang lying to Squirrelflight) and it's pretty clear that Mapleshade was already a rather delusional cat even before she was exiled. What if the Dark Forest used this to their advantage and sent Ravenwing the omen, knowing what would happen? And this wouldn't be the first time the Dark Forest interfered with the lives of cats, either, like Mapleshade creating the omen with the crooked-jawed squirrel so Crookedstar could be picked as deputy quicker and more or less advising Tiggerstar, or when Tigerstar and Hawkfrost lied to Ivypool about ShadowClan attacking ThunderClan, causing Firestar to lose a life and Russetfur to die.
Again, it seems like it might be pretty unlikely, but what do you guys think?

That could have happened. Who knows how many of the omens are Dark Forest related? I mean, the moon had been covered at gatherings at weird times (though that could just be bad weather). The omen was also very vague so the Dark Forest could have made it deliberately confusing.
There is also the possibility that Ravenwing made the omen up as it was not mentioned until he saw Mapleshade's kits by the river. Or it could be that he completely misinterpreted it. This is the omen as Ravenwing described it.
Remember when CInderpelt thought the Fire and Tiger omen meant that Squirrelflight and Bramblecaw were going to destroy the clans. This could be a similar situation. Perhaps the omen meant that those three kits were the only thing keeping Mapleshade sane and he interpreted it as though kits didn't belong. This could make sense as Ravenwing would likely have bad blood due to RiverClan killing Flowerpaw and Birchface.
Or it could have meant the kits were destined to destroy the clans or something along those lines and the kits needed to die. Why else would StarClan send for an omen that could lead to the exile and death of kits.
I don't think it was about the kits having RiverClan traits because with proper training, the kits would learn proper ThunderClan technique. Sure they may be a litter bulkier, but that could even be an advantage as they might be more able to take harder hits.
I also don't think it was eluding the the cats Mapleshade would kill as it was a river washing reeds and reeds grow in RiverClan implying that the three reeds represent three RiverClan cats.
The whole thing with the omen is really confusing, especially since the omen is vague. Who knows? Maybe whatever StarClan's plan was went wrong and they never sent an omen for forbidden romances again.
Or maybe there was no omen at all and the whole thing was just a regular dream that Ravenwing mistook for an omen.

I don't understand why StarClan would send an omen saying Mapleshade's kits don't belong, just because they are half Clan. If that really is what the omen meant, that would make StarClan a bigger hypocrite than they already are. The four most important cats in the entire series (Firestar, Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Dovewing) were half Clan/kittypets. So why would they send an omen to punish three little half Clan kits who can't help where they were born?
It's possible the kits could have been evil, but if that's why StarClan sent the omen, how come they didn't send an omen for the exile of Thistleclaw, Tigerstar, Hawkfrost, Darkstripe, Ashfur, and every other bad character in the series when they were kits? StarClan is all over the place with this one. I just don't understand why they would send an omen over three little kits.
Maybe Ravenwing did make it up.

But if Starclan sent the sign because the kits was gonna be evil. What about brokenstar? Starclan let him live.

But if Starclan sent the sign because the kits was gonna be evil. What about brokenstar? Starclan let him live. I think that was the point in letting him live. Brokenstar was punishment for the Clans' wrongdoing in the past: Excerpt from Yellowfang's Secret: Molepelt ignored his protest. “A long time ago, I was the ShadowClan medicine cat,” he went on. “My Clanmates and I did a great wrong to another Clan—a Clan that belonged in the forest as much as any of us, but was driven out through our selfishness and hard-heartedness. I knew then that what we did was wrong, and I have waited, my heart filled with dread, for the Clans to be punished.” “Punished? How?” Featherpaw asked hoarsely. “The time has come!” Molepelt’s green eyes were wide, and he seemed to be gazing into the far distance. “A poison will spring from the heart of ShadowClan, and spread to all the other Clans.” His voice became a soft, eerie wailing. “A storm of blood and fire will sweep the forest!”

Brokenstar being punishment for SkyClan's exile never made sense to me, because his actions only really affected ShadowClan and WindClan. And ShadowClan seemed fo be the most sympathetic of the Clans at the time... You'd think StarClan would do a better job at punishing all four Clans.

Well Brokenstar did manage to stir up trouble when he was ThunderClan's prisoner though he was assisted with Tigerclaw in Forest of Secrets if I'm correct. But in the book before that he stole and wasted valuable prey in their territory. And I believe it was leafbare at that. In RiverClan, I think he did the lest damage but he still managed to use fear to get RiverCan to provide them with fish. And I think it was mentioned that RiverClan were too scared too fight (in comparison to WindClan being too weak to fight.)

...and this is why I think Ravenwing deserved to die... I personally don't see that? This topic mostly focuses on Ravenwing possibly being manipulated by the Dark Forest intereference. Outside of that he was just trying to do his job and interpret an omen. I don't think that warrants death.

We honestly don't really know anything about his character, or his history. But that excuse could mean the reverse, or whatever.
