Katherine tiredly stretched as she headed downstairs and into the dining hall. Dressed in red Varezian silks, her oceanan scarf wrapped around her waist, and her hair let loose in curls down her back, she was simply dressed yet still beautiful. 'Good morning, Caristonia.' She greeted the princess, walking gracefully over and sliding into her seat. 'How are you today? Did you sleep well?' As she spoke, Lucifer entered the room and cast the princess a nervous smile, not knowing who she was nor why she was there. 'Morning, Ma.' He hesitantly said, slowly sitting down in his seat and wincing as his wound twinged. 'Caristinonia, this is my eldest son, Lucifer.' 'By like, ten minutes. The letter did say.' Lucifer grinned. Caristonia dipped her head towards Lucifer. "It's wonderful to meet you," she said gracefully, treating him with the respect a Varezian prince deserves. "My own brothers were ten minutes apart -- although, my mother always kept it secret which one was older. I've always wondered," she said, half talking to herself as she relaxed back in her chair and began to address Katherine. She was in admiration of the Queen -- so elegant and beautiful, as well as authoritative and powerful in her own right. She'd done very well for Varizi while Aiden had been away. At that thought, her own mind cast back to her own prince -- and how he was faring at home with Valare. "I slept very well, thank you. You really do have a wonderful home here...and there's no Brah'ganian assassins to try and murder me in my sleep, so that's always a plus," she said, getting into the heart of why she came again.

'Woah.' Lucifer said, eyebrows arching. 'Assassins? Like, cloaked mystery men with daggers, type of assassins?' Katherine laughed quietly at her eldests naivety, and didn't answer him. 'You will be safe within the walls of Varezi, Caristonia. If you do wish I can send a shadow demon as a doppelgänger to take your place in the Isles.' She raised her hand and removed a small clay figure from a bracelet she wore. She dropped it to the floor and as it fell it disintegrated into black, writhing shadows, before the threads began to lace together into a faceless black form with elongated arms and legs. It emmited a strange chittering noise and raised a clawed hand to Katherine, who took it, as if it were a child. 'They can take on the appearance, personality, and abilities of the people they mimic.' She explained. 'Gifts, from Legion.' 'I thought I was a gift from Legion,' Lucifer jokingly said, and Katherine grinned at him, shaking her head. 'Will you ever take things seriously?' 'Never! I can't get hurt that way.' He winked at her, and Katherine chuckled. 'What do you say, Caristonia?' She finally asked, looking at the woman.

Convel snarled with irritation at the sheer attitude on this bairn. He locked his jaws on his throat and violently shook his head to hurt him more and show him what bad attitude would earn him, before he finally released the pup and stepped away, standing triumphantly over him, his gaze a cool glare. Apologise for your behaviour and you shall be my beta, and rule with strength at my side. Do not, and you will be exiled from the pack.

It was comforting, in a way, but the thought of the assassins was not. "Is it completely under your control?" Caristonia asked nervously, unsure about handing her isles away to a strange demonic form.

Kaiser paced the throne room, breathing heavily with strain, eyes closed tightly. Whenever he was here, he was functioning himself as a lightning rod- this was to stop the worst of the lightning strikes from destroying his city. He winced as a particularly powerful one shot through the open back-wall behind the throne room and struck him in the back. His veins and eyes lit up blue, then faded. The throne room was built from dark blue stone, with winding columns that stretched up the long halls, lining a red carpet- this led up to the massive stone throne at the end. At either side of the isle sat bowls which were for fire. A messenger hurried inside; 'sire- they've found him. They've found the Basilisk.' Kaisers eyes widened and he nodded. 'Bring him through.' He said, as he started to stride up the aisle. When he would pass between a pair of bowls, bright blue flames would light up within. He climbed the steps and seated himself in his throne, leaning his elbow on an arm and resting his chin on his hand. He wouldn't deny he was nervous- he needed this thief to steal the item for him.
'Do you think it will work?' Drawled the voice of his brother, Clyde, from nearby. 'I hope so.' Kaiser sighed. Clyde made a 'tch' noise and looked away. 'You rely too much on your instincts.' 'My instincts have served me well- they keep me alive.' Clyde' eyes flashed at his words, and he silently left the room, Kaiser's curious gaze following him out. That kid was getting moodier every day. With a nervous sigh, he sat back, and waited for the cavalry to arrive.

Caelum had been dragged from the rooftop he'd been sleeping upon during the night, men of Roewen by their dress and as he woke he put up no struggle and rolled his eyes. "What is this for?" he drawled with a yawn as he was pulled to his feet and set before the man who appeared to be running the whole ordeal. Pulling out a scroll the man cleared his throat, "This is a summoning, by order of King Kaiser of Roewen, you are to be brought to his Majesty on orders unspecified but of urgency." Caelum arched his brow then and smirked lightly, "The King want me?" he murmured as he straightened himself a bit and then nodded, "Alright, let's get going then!" he bellowed as he strode ahead of the men and leapt off the roof without hesitation.
Finally Caelum was there, escorted by a large group of cavalry men who gave him dirty looks and flashed him glances whenever he spoke. It was a silent trip for them but Caelum had no shortage of stories to share with them, though he always said, "But, I could always be lying." just to insure they couldn't truly take him in for any accounts of theft. Soon he was striding down the center of the throne room and his eyes locked onto Kaiser's and a devilish smirk remained on his lips. What could the king want with a thief like himself? This was perhaps the most exciting thing to happen to the Basilisk as of late.

"Alright," she said, dipping her head, knowing that Katherine wouldn't hurt her on purpose. She took her finger and pricked it against a silver blade that she always kept with her -- as Daniel had sent some lycanthrope assassins after her. She winced at the burning sensation that didn't dissapear as the silver pierced her skin, it was not a pleasant sensation at all. But the blood was there, and she handed the handle to Katherine, smiling faintly. "Now, will your...friend, be alright with the assassins? They are frequent and ruthless -- I wouldn't have survived if it wasn't for Alain," she said, a dip in her voice indicating that she missed him.

Kaiser straightened as the man entered, stormy blue eyes flashing and becoming coldly intent, his form radiating power and authority. 'Leave us,' he commanded, watching his men file out of the room, before finally, they were alone. Kaiser was silent for a while as he examined the man, noting with an awkward heat in his veins how handsome he was. He straightened up and leaned forwards in his seat. 'I'm going to be blunt,' he said, getting to his feet and waving him over to him. Once Callum was at his side, he gestured outside- the missing wall was a picturesque portrait of the badlands of Roewen- dangerous jungle filled with monsters and massive mountains that were plagued with beasts. Stop each mountain sat a temple, with the main one, the Temple of Ra, seated upon the largest mountain's peak, in perfect horizontal alignment to the castle. It was the only calm spot of Roewen- the eye of this violent, ferocious storm.
'Do you see that temple, on the third peak?' Kaiser said, pointing to the left. 'I travel there tomorrow. That temple is known to be filed with traps, magic- all the defended you can possibly think of to keep intruders out. Now- I can defend you from the Oni within, but you must do me a favour.' He turned to face him. 'I need to to steal the item inside, and return it to the Temple of Ra.' He stepped back to lean against a column. 'Do this for me, and I will drop every charge held against you currently in both Roewen and Asiralath, and I will offer you a place within my court as a treasure seeker- or, to put it more plainly...' the mischief was gleaming in Kaisers eyes. This King was no stuck-up old man, but a strong youth who hated being cooped up in his castle. 'A tomb raider. I can go more into detail on that after you have completed the quest with me.' He tossed him a hefty bag of gold. 'That's a quarter of your payment for the job.' He said, folding his arms across his chest and shooting him a sly smile, which was just a little flirty. Kaiser found he was enjoying himself- it had been a while since he'd hung with the 'wrong sort'. Since becoming king, he'd had to buckle down and behave himself.

'It can take them.' Lucifer grinned. 'Me and Amos have one each defending us.' He gestured at his shadow. Katherine took tgesilver dagger and held it up to the demon. A mouth parted, glowing white and revealing sharp and jagged rows of teeth. A black forked tongue flicked out to remove the blood from the blade, and it began to shift; soon, it perfectly resembled Caristonia, down to the last freckle. 'Whaddya think?' Katherine asked, looking at Caristonia. 'Pretty good, right?'

Caelum looked over the King, not hiding the glances and then arched a brow as all were told to leave. He pushed his hands into the pockets of his trousers and watched Kaiser carefully. He did not speak for the whole of instructions and stood next to the king, suddenly realizing how tall the young man actually was. His eyes flickered over the temples with curiosity and at the mention of stealing from one of them his eyes flashed with light and his smile twisted happily. Caelum caught the bag easily and caught the smile tossed his way as well. His own smile was devilish and he was relishing this contract. "I accept." he told him simply as his eyes moved from the King down to the money he'd been thrown. Though he paused a moment, "A seat on your court you Majesty?" he inquired with an arch of his brow, "I don't know if I'm particularly suited for the life of royalty? Haven't been raised with many manners and don't quite know how to behave myself around beauty." he smirked and his eyes met Kaiser's, not leaving them while he spoke and then he shrugged lightly and laughed, "But, I suppose an offer from the King, especially one as lush as this is something I can't quite turn away! I do have one addition to this deal though." he paused and nodded, his eyes losing a bit of the mischief, "You see I have a small friend, my partner of sorts, a dwarf-child, named Ohdren and I'd hate to leave the poor little gnat out on the streets while I live it up here in your court. Would you mind throwing him into the deal?" Something about this king made Caelum a bit giddy and the thought of venturing into the jungle to steal an ancient treasure sent a thrill through Caelum's bones.

Kaiser's lips twitched at Caelum's words. 'Don't worry- it's not exactly a fancy job.' Kaiser replied, then tilted his head at the mention of the child. Warmth spread into his eyes and he offered the man a friendly smile. 'Of course he is included, Caelum.' He stretched- his body crackled with excess electricity- then lowered his arms. 'Let me grab my weapons and some provisions, then we can go.' He said. 'Come.' He gestured and began to walk, catching a flash from the corner of his eyes. He hissed and arched his back as he was struck again by lightning, releasing a shaky breath. Once the glow in his body had gone, he continued to walk. He entered the armoury and approached his armour, which was polished and on a mannequin- it wasn't fancy material, only steel, and he swiftly geardef up. He slipped a crossbow onto his back and then took hold of two huge knives, which had a very long chain hanging between them. He wound it up onto a hook on his belt and slid the knives into their sheathes, then looked up at Caelum. 'If you desire something for the trip, take it now.'

Caelum smiled lightly in response and chuckled at the thought of Ohdren hearing the news that they were going to be a part of the royal court now. Then he followed Kaiser, though at the crackle of electricity and the strike to the king he watched curiously. He had heard that this was the duty of the king when storm rolled in but it was rather amazing the strength and power it took for one to absorb that much energy. Truly the king must be more powerful than he puts on. Caelum smirked lightly and then followed behind him silently, keeping his thoughts to himself for now. In the armory his eyes flicked around quickly and he nodded and grabbed six daggers and a simple blade about the length of his arm. He strapped the scabbard to his back and then slid the sword into it's place easily. His eyes the flick around once more and he snagged a pair of armored gauntlets as well and slipped them on. Turning back to face Kaiser, he nodded, "Let's begin our journey then, your Majesty." he chimed with excitement before glancing over the armored frame of Kaiser now and arching a brow lightly, curiously, before heading out ahead of him. He tugged his hood over his head and stretched his arms above him as they headed for the entrance. "What do you know of me?" he inquired to Kaiser then, keeping his eyes ahead, their amber pools lighting up with anticipation.

'Not much, to be honest- only that you've never been caught, and you always succeed- and that is what inbred right now.' He said, scratching the light stubble on his chin. 'And you can call me Kaiser, Caelum.' Kaiser added- he felt uncomfortable when people he was closely involved with called him 'sire' and 'your majesty'- he wanted a friendship, not just the respect. 'Now, the badlands are going to be ridiculously dangerous- that's what I'm here for.' Kaiser said as he left the castle, heading towards the walls which kept the city safe from the apex predators outside of them. 'So just stay close and you'll be fine. Then you take over at the Temple.' He left through an opening that two Earth elemental guards made for them. When the wall closed, a natural atmosphere was heard instead- the loud chorus of Locusts and crickets, along with wild calls of birds and various strange beasts. A howl called out, closely followed by some kind of roar. The storm rumbled above them. Kaiser shivered at the ferocious power of nature itself, and glanced at Caelum, taking a deep breath. 'Alright- lets go.' He murmured, leading the way ahead.

Caelum nodded and chuckled lightly, "The less you know the easier it will be to impress you." he commented with a light wink to Kaiser as they headed out into the jungle that lay ahead of them. Caelum actually let out a light sigh and took in a deep breath, yes the badlands were terrifying but this was new to Caelum. Fear was something he rarely felt nowadays and at the moment it was seeping into his veins. Not in a terrifying way though, the sort of fear that drove one to push onward. He listened to all surrounding them and nodded as he followed Kaiser. His eyes flicking through the bush to keep a lookout for anything that might come for them. As Kaiser said he was there for protection a light chuckle rumbled in Caelum throat and he nodded, "Aye, I'll make sure to remain at your side, Kaiser." he murmured, almost purring his name when he spoke it, just to get a rise out of the king. He enjoyed teasing and found that the king might be a fun, new personality to play with a bit. Though Caelum remained focused still, he understood the area they were in and he knew it was dangerous. But, what was danger without a bit of fun added to it. After a few moments of silence while they continued onward Caelum spoke again, "You are a Lightning Elemental then? Or am I wrong?" he inquired with an arch of his brow as he moved through the brush carefully and glanced to Kaiser for a response.

He looked at the food that had been set out, then pulled a face and pushed the plate away. He sighed, then looked at Iona, frowning slightly, before he looked at Katherine. "Am I right in saying that I heard talk of an alliance with the Crystal Isle?" He asked. --- Sisko glared at his back, and then at Akantha and Illiana, before slinking away to fix his jaw and then lick his wounds. It appeared that he wouldn't be one of the friendlier of the wolves, unlike Za'rai.

Kaiser felt his cheeks redden at the wink, and then again when Caelum purred his name, focusing on pressing forwards rather than looking at him, afraid Caelum would see him reacting to him. He coughed slightly as he asked the question, and finally glanced back with a handsome smile. 'You'd be correct. I'm also an Earth and metal elemental. It's why I can act as a lightning rod and ground the strikes. Sometimes we have to release the excess energy and create our own storm, however- but that's all part of what makes Roewen roar.' He said, grinning, pride in the way he held himself. He looked around cautiously, to ensure he could hear no incoming danger, then continued on his way. He was nervous, but also giddy for the adventure.

Caelum blinked in surprise and then nodded, "A man of many talents then." he chimed back as he followed close to the king, "I, myself, am a light elemental ontop of everything else." he laughed lightly and then looked to Kaiser, admiring the bit of pride that surged in his voice and in his posture. It was admirable to have such love for one's country, but he was the king so it was somewhat required of him. Caelum felt nothing for Asiralath. Truly, Caelum called neither country his home, he was born to them but did not belong to them. It was the one envy Caelum had of others, above all else. He would never admit to that though. Caelum fell silent now and simply moved alongside Kaiser, glancing to the king every now and then just to analyze him, as he was prone to doing.

Convel paused, before stepping back to allow the now-beta to stand. He trotted over to his pack to embrace old friends and members, before curiously greeting the few New with a friendly sniff. Finally he turned to look at Akantha and Illiana, whom had been there to offer their support. He walked over to them and butted his head against Akantha's. Thankyou, Alpha Akantha. Thankyou, Illiana. he butted heads with her too, then stepped back. we should investigate the new scents before they infiltrate the super pack.Illiana breathed a sigh of relief and threw her arms around Convel in a surprise hug of joy -- so happy he'd survived and thrived. "Well done," she murmured "you were...very good," she said, still struggling for words as she'd ever been. Akantha's congratulations were more reserved. She dipped her head low in respect, but huffed slightly are you sure we can't just kill him? she asked. "If you say so..." He said, sitting down at the table. He looked at the food that had been set out, then pulled a face and pushed the plate away. He sighed, then looked at Iona, frowning slightly, before he looked at Katherine. "Am I right in saying that I heard talk of an alliance with the Crystal Isle?" He asked. Caristona ended up smiling and laughing at the demons -- not trusting him, but trusting the Demoare family quite a bit. She dipped her head low at Aiden's presence and murmured "your majesty," in greeting. As soon as he mentioned the alliance she could tell he was apprehensive -- and right to be so, the crystal Isles had been enemies until a few days ago. "Yes, yes your majesty," Caristonia said, standing up. "I'll be as blunt as I can about this -- Valare's trying to kill me. She's using Daniel to do it, but it's all her," Iona's face darkened, she looked down as she remembered the past. "That woman has been treating me, my family and my country as her sh*tter from day one and I don't want it anymore! I want independence for the Crystal Isles!" she declared and then circled round the table until she could look the King directly in the eye. "Every shipment of magical crystals the Zale'ish get will be cut off and given to you -- free of charge. You can get my troops, my armies...but I need you to give me some of yours, as soon as Daniel is out the way. So we can take the fight to Zale'mas, because it's assured they won't give up the Isles without a fight" [[#indyref]] Sisko glared at his back, and then at Akantha and Illiana, before slinking away to fix his jaw and then lick his wounds. It appeared that he wouldn't be one of the friendlier of the wolves, unlike Za'rai. Akantha glared back, snarling as she was backed up by a few of her beta's. Her fighting pack had grown in the past year. She now numbered 34 fighters, and hoped Sisko knew it. You would never have got as much mercy off of me you little mutt! she spat.
