◀ ☆ ⟁ ☆ ⟁ ◆ ☆ ⟁ ☆ ▶ [smear:#8B0000]Welcome[/smear:#FF6347] This is the Brave Hearts border thread. Brave Hearts is a warrior cats roleplay that includes three clans: Emberclan, Asterclan, and Dawnclan. The storyline varies from prophecy to prophecy, and only those with Starclan characters, those in the prophecy, and those who are moderators in the roleplay truly know what the prophecy means. The rest of the cats must try to find the meaning of these prophecies, just like in the books. Each of the clans lives in a different territory, and lives a different way of life. [smear:#8B0000]Rules[/smear:#FF6347] ⚠ Please be respectful to others. ⚠ No kit-stealing outside of roleplay. ⚠ Clear any important or gigantic plots with at least one admin, preferably the admin(s) of what is most affected by the plot in roleplay. ⚠ Do not try to change the situation/state of the roleplay for the sake of your character. This especially applies in origin stories. (example: A medicine cat with kits who was never punished because "the warrior/medicine cat code became twisted over time" when this was not proven, stated, nor shown in roleplay.) ⚠ Cats caught breaking the warrior code/medicine cat code will be punished as their clan's leader sees fit. A clan leader cannot punish a cat of a clan they do not lead, unless given permission by that cat's clan to do so.

Hollysong padded along in silence, her ears perked to listen to the cardinals and rustling of the wind through the leaves. She realized they had been padding toward the nearest border, though it was still a ways walk. She noticed a small form sinking quickly in the mud from last night's rain. "Amberstar!" She mewed urgently, flicking her tail in the direction of Norah. Amberstar looked over and her eyes widened in shock. Norah heard Hollysong's mew, and turned in her general direction. "Help!" she screamed, hoping they heard her. Moving this over to the border thread, since the thread didn't exist until after it began. XD

Hollysong darted forward, hearing the kit's yowl for help. Her deep, rich red pelt shown like a flame marked with black. She skidded to a halt and bent down, gently claiming her jaws around Norah's scruff. The toyger picked the little she-cat up and padded over to Amberstar, setting the kit down in front of her clan leader. "No cat should abandon a kit, even if it's from another clan." She mewed, calling up her sparse knowledge of the warrior code.

Norah blinked in confusion, the sudden rescue happening so quickly that she barely had time to process it.
"It's ok..." Amberstar said, bending over and giving the small kit a lick between her ears.
"Mama?" Norah asked before looking up. She flicked her ears, still too confused to express gratitude. "You're.. not.. who are you?" she asked, flicking her gaze back and forth between Amberstar and Hollysong.

Hollysong sat down and curled her tail around the red tabby kitten, licking Norah's fur the wrong way to warm her up as Amberstar kicked the kit's head. Hollysong stopped her licking once Norah began mewling. "Don't worry," she began coaxing. "I'm Hollysong and everything is going to be alright. This," she angled her ears toward Amberstar, "is Amberstar. We're here to help. There's nothing to be worried about." She kept her voice soft and soothing, remembering when she was a kit and her own mother had comforted her.

Norah closed her eyes, feeling what she considered to be strangely comforted by the strange she-cats', Hollysong's, and Amberstar's licks and voices.

Hollysong could clearly scent that Norah was a rouge and seeing as the red tabby kitten's mother wasn't near, the kit was probably abandoned. Luckily, Norah was old enough to be eating prey rather than milk, so any willing cat could take care of Norah. She looked up at Amberstar, holding her leader's gaze; eyes questioning if they should take the kit to camp.

Amberstar's eyes gazed back, gleaming with a firm yes.

Hollysong, slowly got to her paws, taking her time so she wouldn't startle the kit. "We're going to take you somewhere safe. You can eat, sleep, play and socialize there." She reassured the kit. She bent down and gently picked up Norah by the scruf, beginning to pad slowly at first, but settling into a normal pace after a short while. (Switch back to the main clan's thread?)

Hollysong neared the meeting place and was shocked to find that Asterclan's and Dawnclan's medicine cats wasn't there yet. She wondered if they would show, wondering what had happened to make all of them late. She wouldn't want to leave without the other medicine cats, but if they didn't leave soon, they wouldn't make it to Star tunnel in time to share you guess with Starclan.

She wouldn't want to leave without the other medicine cats, but if they didn't leave soon, they wouldn't make it to Star tunnel in time to share you guess with Starclan. Appleblossom padded out to the medicine cat gathering, only slimly remembering it. "I get to go see cats I actually like." She sighed. She picked up some borage leaves and coltsfoot around the area, moving towards the border. She smiled, knowing that she would have something to do today. She saw Hollysong and ran towards her. "Holly!" She shouted out to the medicine cat, her voice was ecstatic.

"Appleblossom! Have you seen Dawnclan's medicine cat yet? I wouldn't want to leave without them, but I don't want to miss the time we can meet with starclan." Hollysong worried before recalling a small detail. "I though you had a new apprentice, don't you?" She asked, looking past Appleblossom, straining to see if there was a younger cat coming.

"She's just dragging behind, she'll be here soon!" She promised. "I haven't seen Dawnclan's medicine cat, they must be running late." Appleblossom's cheeks flushed as she sighed, embarrassed. "How has your clan been running, anything too bad happening?" She asked curiously.

Thymepaw ran up behind her mentor, literately shaking and taking large anxious breaths. Obviously the small cat was nervous. "What if they hate me, what if I don't impress them and they never let me become a medicine cat apprentice!?! What if-?" She stopped, realizing she was talking out loud, and flattened her ears in embarrassment. She looked at Appleblossom, eyes full of fear and excitement.

Hollysong nodded, letting out a pre of amusement as a thought crossed her mind. "I'm sure Cloudtuff was hoping to see another tom strive to be medicine cat, I wouldn't want him to start taking on she-cat qualities." She joked. "Nothing bad has happened, we have a new warrior apprentice, but you'll have to wait for the gatherings to learn who they are." She mewed, telling her friend the more recent news. "Once your apprentice arrives we should start heading for Star Tunnel, Cloudtuff will just have to meet us there. On another note, how if Foxstar? Was her ceremony well?" She asked, wondering how the new leader was getting along. Hollysong looked over and noticed the nervous she-cat approach Appleblossom with little gasps for air before the excitement returned to the young cat's eyes. "Hello, I'm Hollysong, Emberclan's Medicine cat. Who might you be?" She greeted happily, beginning walking slowly so they could transition into their trek.

Thymepaw smiled gently. "I'm Thymepaw, it is nice to meet you!" She said, and dipped her head respectively. "I am soon to be, hopefully medicine cat of Asterclan", She said, her fur slightly fluffed out in fear. Her cyan eyes looked down as she looked at Hollysong.

Hollysong purred in amusement as she walked with the two medicine cats. "Slow down a bit. You're only just a medicine cat apprentice for now. Your training will be longer than a warrior apprentice. I was only made a full medicine cat two moons ago, almost twice as long as a warrior apprentice. Now, there would be a second medicine cat with me, but she joined starclan a moon ago, but that's not important right now. You must be full of emotions." She explained, gathering into a good pace that would get them to Star Tunnel just past sunset.

Thymepaw nodded her head, and smiled sympathetically. "My apologies for her passing, I am sure she will be in your dreams still though.", she said with a gentle voice. "I am 8 moons right now, I was originally training as a warrior cat apprentice for a while, but I was chosen to be a medicine cat apprentice just a few days ago." She told Hollysong, whiskers twitching.

Hollysong's ears perked as she listened, a bit surprised at this. "Chosen? Do you want to be a medicine cat apprentice or a warrior?" She asked, stopping. She looked down into Thymepaw's eyes, worry and sternness in her eyes. "You need to follow what your heart wants. It's your choice to continue training as a warrior if it's what you wanted." She didn't like the idea of cats being told what position they had to be, it was up to the cat and what they wanted. Maybe it was a slip in Thymepaw's wording, but it sounded like Thymepaw wasn't given a choice to switch.

(Not sure where they are in their trip, so I'm just going to hop in and hope it passes ^-^")
Sageheart trotted along happily. It was always nice to see the others. Although the medicine cats from his clan were pretty cool, the other clans were more interesting since he didn't get the chance to see them often. Overhearing Thymepaw's situation caused him to wonder just how many cats truly chose their position as medicine cat. Sageheart knew he would either be a medicine cat or an awful warrior, but he didn't despise his position. It made him feel good to help out whenever he could.

"I never wanted to be a warrior, but I was afraid to say anything." Thymepaw said, "I never liked the prospect of hurting anyone, I wanted to help though, but I also didn't care for killing other animals, I refused to do it. I would never be a good warrior, but this is what I want to do!" Thymepaw said, smiling. "I had a choice after being offered, well, chosen, well having the possibility to become a medicine cat apprentice, and I chose to be." She said, then frowning, "Do you think I chose wrong?" she asked, worry filling her gaze again.

Sageheart flicked his tail. "We can't tell you that." He purred. "But whatever your reasoning may be, so long as you're happy, then it was the right choice. That's my thinking at least. Although for some, it might not be the best. Some may feel like they have to be good at what they chose in order for it to be right and, well, that's alright for them." He tilted his head to one side. If a cat wasn't satisfied with their work, then maybe they wouldn't be happy with their choice? And so then he'd be wrong as well... He shook his head. He was confusing himself. He decided to let the other medicine cats comfort the new apprentice in her choice.

(They're still pretty early in the journey, they just started. Dawnclan didn't send their med cat though and sorry for waiting, I was eating a late dinner)
Hollysong vegans padding along again, glad to hear everything was okay. "You can never make the wrong choice when you follow your heart. Other cats may disagree, but if you know in your heart that it's truly what you want and it feels so good you couldn't imagine being this happy anywhere else, then it's the right choice." She reassured, sharing her beliefs with the young she-cat. She looked over to Sageheart and repeated her earlier question. "How is Foxstar, was her ceremony well?"

"Thank you, your insight on my situation is comforting, and I ind your theory interesting, I guess that as long I feel like it is the right choice, I can only do what I can, and I'm sure that I will learn, and Appleblossom is really good at her job, so I guess I don't have to worry!" Thymepaw said, dipping her head in respect again and following the medicine cats. She then looked at Hollysong, "I feel she is doing well, she hasn't had her ceremony yet. But she is really really nice to us!" She said with a smile.

Hollysong nodded, glad to hear that. She wouldn't pry for details, knowing that was sensitive information for a clan to keep personal. "Also, on what you said earlier about refusing to kill another animal, there is something you should understand. While it may not be right for a cat to kill another cat, we hunt and kill our prey so we can survive. We give thanks to starclan for providing it for us, but if we let it waste or hunted more than we could eat, then it would be wrong. We kill animals like foxes and badgers because they threaten our survival, we kill them to protect our kits. Like us, they need to eat, so even if they aren't bothering us, if we see them they need to be chased away or we're just prolonging out demise. When I use the term we, I'm referring to cats as a whole, together and the same creatures. Medicine cats don't generally hunt or fight, but it's important to know what goes on in a warriors life." She explained before adding, "Thunepaw, do you understand?"

"Oh I understand, I just don't ever want to kill another cat, or kill the prey, unless you know, I need to. I know why we do it, i'm not dumb, I just don't like doing it myself, because I get guilty, and I don't want to let my clan down." Thymepaw responded, offended, she felt like Hollysong was implying she was like a stupid kit, even if that was not Hollysong's intentions. "I also like the study of herbs and healing, and the relations with Starclan, but I am no idiot, I know what warriors do and that is why I never wanted to be one." She said, walking ahead without continuing on, taking in a deep breath.

Sageheart shook his head. "No cat ever said you were an idiot." His whiskers twitched. "It'd be awful if a clan had one for a medicine cat." He decided to allow Hollysong to believe Foxtail had received her nine lives. Although it was a tad problematic that their leader was procrastinating the act, the other cats didn't need to know. He knew the other medicine cats wouldn't use the information against them, but at the same time it wasn't something they needed to concern themselves with.

Hollysong felt hurt by Thymepaw's response. She didn't mean it that way, she wasn't implying that the apprentice was idiot or naive. She was simply implying the importance of it, it's easy for a cat to understand, but it has a further depth. It was nothing to be taken lightly. Her eyes stung as she continued, heart aching that she had made Thymepaw feel the way she did. She knew if she said anything it would just make things worse, she didn't have the right words to explain. She knew that Thymepaw knew it was wrong and that there were reasons for everything cats did. She cast a glance toward Sageheart, a hurt look in her eyes, but they were also thankful, telling him she was grateful for him to step in.
