Territory & Camp Territory PineClan is located in a unique territory. The forest they reside in is a mixed evergreen, mainly carrying pines and other types of evergreens, but a few deciduous trees have found their way into the mix as well. There is a large river that cuts through the southwest part of the forest, creating several streams in various sizes that spread across the territory like a web. One of the streams leads and fills into a large pond that has formed to the east. To the northeast, there is a distant range of mountains outside PineClan boundaries, while to the south there is a decent-sized Twolegplace.
Camp The camp is a hollow nestled safely in the center of the forest and protected by a thick wall of brambles and undergrowth, while the entrance to this protected haven is a dense tunnel composed of the thick, thorny tendrils. Within is a clearing with soft grass which miraculously never seems to become overgrown, covered in even softer pine needles. The warriors' den is located near the entrance in the midst of some brambles and a small hollow within a large bush. The elder's den is located at the far end of the clearing in an old, hollowed out tree log adjusted for the comfort of the seniors within the clan. Next to it this the tightly woven and protected nursery, made to ensure the warmth and safety of nursing queens and newborn kits. At the east side of the camp beside the warriors' den is the apprentices' den, which is a carbon copy of the warriors' den, but smaller. Last is the leader's den, located to the west, in the abandoned hollow of an owl within a small tree. The interior is rather wide, big enough for at least five full grown cats to sit and discuss privately, and the floor is lined with soft moss and feathers, even though the leader's nest is located deeper within the hollow. The entrance is lined with draping lichen to ensure the leader's privacy. From here, the leader can climb onto the lowest branch of this tree, known as the Highbranch, and make their announcements.
The Moontree The Moontree, a glowing mystical weeping cherry tree, is the location in which cats of PineClan may go to speak with StarClan. Coming to this location is also a part of the many requirements of becoming a warrior, as it is said that an outsider must be approved by the clan's ancestors in order to truly become one of them. On occasion, if the one wanting to become a warrior is outside of the clan, the clan will first wait to see if the medicine cat will receive a sign before risking showing a stranger their sacred place. Apprentices must also make at least one trip here with their mentors before they can become a warrior. Every halfmoon the medicine cat and their apprentice make the journey here. Any cat who wishes to travel to this place must follow the streams to the river, and follow that to the northwest part of the forest, which is the densest. There is a small tunnel of undergrowth covered by large leaves that are pushed aside when needed to venture to the meeting grounds. After a short trip crawling through the tunnel, they will find themselves in a moonlit clearing, surrounded by glowing undergrowth and mushrooms, though the Moontree shines the brightest. First said cat must wait until moonhigh, when the tree's leaves are most dazzling, and then bury themselves among the roots of the tree, falling asleep as they await their ancestors to join them in their dreams.
Twolegplace Twolegplace is exactly what it sounds like--a small settlement in which Twolegs, dogs, and kittypets live. This Twolegplace is filled with gorgeous homes made of wood, all of which very large and extravagant. While each home is large and takes up a chunk of territory, there are still many of them, and it is for a cat to get lost in their winding roads. The kittypets here are also known for being more pampered, well-off and occasionally stuck up because of their even more sheltered lifestyles in these homes. Though it is not considered PineClan territory, it is mentioned as it is just near the borders. Avoiding this area is also strictly advised, as dogs are known for wandering near the outskirts of the forests as few Twoleg homes here carry a fence border to keep them contained. However, this area is still patrolled, as it is crucial to chase off any curious kittypets or rogues who happen to taken an interest to the forest.
The River This large river located to the west of the forest is what created all other smaller streams located throughout the territory. Since it is rather large and deep, only fully trained river gliders are allowed to fish and swim inside it.
Great Pine This is a very large pine tree whose branches fan out over the area it has claimed. It is located near the center, northern part of the territory. It's a prime hunting spot as many types of prey gather here, and as the ground beneath is covered in soft pine needles, it's often used a training spot for climbing trees.
Pine Grove This grove is located near the camp and serves as the training area for all forest combat. Soft pine needles cover the floor and help serve to soften damage from any potential falls or throws.
The Pond This is a large pond that had formed at the east side of the forest, a stream or two always trickling into it unless a drought is in session. It serves as a prime hunting spot as well as a training spot for river glider apprentices, as the shallows help beginners without drowning them.
Distant Mountains While these mountains are not located in PineClan or all that close to it, it is still noted. The border closest to these mountains are the ones most warriors are wary of, as while the mountains usually doesn't bring anything to PineClan, there have been the cases of a scent of coyote, an eagle feather, or even a trace of the mighty wolf.

Joining Page Joining Rules: ♱ Restrictions - No one can join with queens or singular kits with no parents. Please keep a limit on the amount of outsiders you have and try to give them a purpose. This isn't to say that every outsider must become a clan cat eventually, but at least make them useful or relevant. Don't just make an outsider to annoy the clan or cross borders for no reason at all. Be wary of your apprentices. Try to check the allegiances and see if there are any open spots for both river gliders and forest walkers to take an apprentice. If you try to join as a river glider apprentice, note that we may change that to be a forest walker if it is the only thing available. If you aren't willing for that, save your apprentice and wait until a spot opens up. Also note that even if a cat is available to be a mentor, we won't force any members to take an apprentice if they don't want one, or if they are a newly made warrior, they can't take an apprentice either. (Note these things can be subject to change if discussed with us first) ♱ Prefixes - Prefixes can only be used twice before they become unavailable. If a cat with a prefix dies, it will become available again. Here is a list of all the prefixes used so far. If it is highlighted, it is unavailable. The prefixes River and Forest will never be available as it conflicts with the terms of PineClan warriors. Pine is also unavailable for obvious reasons.

Allegiances Leader
Floodstar | Leader (Forest Walker) | Male Floodstar is a massive Florida Savannah tom who despite being rather slender, his powerful paws sheathing his unusually long claws add power to his quick strikes. His pelt is a bit darker than the common variation for his breed, more of a golden brown rather than the usual gold coloration and is crisscrossed with scars from his experience in combat. His eyes are a dark honey brown color. Floodstar is in all honesty, a piece of work. His mind seems to always be wandering off somewhere it has no business being if he is left alone with nothing to do for more than ten minutes. Despite the cold, serious expression he commonly wears, it usually serves as a mask for his much more gentle personality. He is fairly friendly to kits, though he does think of them as a bit aggravating, and loves ambitious apprentices. He’s been known to sit in on training sessions for both forest walkers as well as river gliders, throwing out tips and tricks that he’s picked up through seasons of experience from battles both won and lost. That’s not to say that Floodstar can’t be as fierce as his appearance suggests. When it gets down to it, his clan means more to him than anything else and he will give up a life in an instant to defend it. When giving orders or even discussing issues within the clan, Floodstar can almost seem like an entirely different cat. The mask of cold suddenly becomes real and he gains something similar to tunnel vision where the clan’s well being is all he can think about. In combat, Floodstar can become as merciless as the disaster he is named after, sweeping away anyone and anything that would dare bring harm to Pineclan. Outside of this, Floodstar generally acts like a normal forest walking warrior, keeping close bonds with his clanmates and only taking time to laze about when the clan is fed and their borders are safe. Floodstar is a unique case of warrior. Despite having grown up as long as he can remember in Pineclan, he was actually originally a kittypet bred specifically to be the pet of a Twoleg living outside of Pineclan’s borders. Nestled safely within the walls of their wooden home, the Twoleg ended up doing as most people with a lot of money tend to do. Waste it. He made the purchase of Floodstar fairly early on, getting him perhaps two weeks after his birth. Having not been weaned from his mother’s milk, the strain to care for the kitten was too much for him and he ended up dumping him close to Pineclan borders. After being picked up by a patrol, he was quickly integrated into clan with a foster mother. He actually grew up alongside Russetfeather and the two are childhood friends. [𝙿𝚑𝚊𝚗𝚝𝚘𝚖𝚜𝚢𝚕𝚟𝚎𝚘𝚗]
Deputy
Pebblesplash | Deputy (River Glider) | Female Sleek, speckled grey she-cat with blue eyes. (This is a temporary filler position shared by the two of us until we find someone else who is active enough to be chosen for this spot, but also so the clan is not deputiless until then. When we are ready, we will choose one of this member's cats and formerly name them deputy after this filler character randomly dies.) [ѕαcяєɗмσση & 𝙿𝚑𝚊𝚗𝚝𝚘𝚖𝚜𝚢𝚕𝚟𝚎𝚘𝚗]
Medicine Cat
Claudette | Medicine Cat | Female Claudette is certainly not the youngest brown tabby around. Her green eyes that once glistened like emeralds have lost their light many seasons ago and have faded to a more grassy color instead. Her whiskers are long and droopy for the most part. Her tabby pelt has short fur that is always kept neatly groomed, as this she-cat needs to have everything about her in tip top shape. Though most of her coat is brown tabby, she has pale brown paws, underbelly, and tail tip. Her muzzle also retains a bit of this color, though most of it is grayed with age. Claudette is very strict and will certainly have a bark in her tone if she finds something that a cat has done wrong around her den or anywhere around her presence for that matter. She is still kind-hearted in the end though, especially to the kits in the clan, since she discovered that she couldn’t bear any of her own. It’s practically why being a medicine cat is probably the perfect job for her. However, despite her age and position, her bite matches up to if not worse than her bark. She joined the clan as an outsider after many moons of aimless traveling. No one knows of her past, though rumors of murder definitely spread around. In reality, Claudette comes from a far off place, where the lives of the cats in her group are quite unusual compared to clan life. In summary, kits were sent off to Twoleg dens to live once they reached age of apprenticeship in comparison to clan life. Claudette was one of those kits when she was younger, and when she discovered that she could not bear any of her own, she decided to be one of the head she-cats in charge of where the kits were assigned. Despite the difficulties, she always had her one childhood friend, Jackson. They were extremely close, but once he grew older and left his assigned Twoleg home to go off on a personal journey, he returned with a mate, which ultimately crushed Claudette’s heart. Trying her best to continue her job, she found that one day one of the young she-cats did not return home to their “camp” after a day’s work in her assigned Twoleg home. When Claudette went to investigate, she discovered that the she-cat had been attacked by the kittypet that had already been living there and was just a normal house cat, having nothing to do with their own group. She had found the young cat outside in the backyard, too weak to make the trip back home. The following day, Claudette reported to said house, stating that Ebony, the injured she-cat, could not make it today and that she would take her place for the time being. When the Twolegs were not around, she killed that kittypet without remorse. However, she did not consider the consequences, or she did not care, as the higher ranking soon discovered this and banished her from her position and life among them, as murder was strictly forbidden. Claudette almost didn’t care, as without Jackson to be her friend anymore, it just didn’t feel right. In her exile she traveled for days upon days without any clear direction of what she would do now that her old life was gone in an instant. It was then she found PineClan, where she was taken in out of pity, especially since she was old and bedraggled. She offered to use her only skills that she could, which was that of medicine, as the old medicine cat was soon to pass on to StarClan because of an awful case of greencough. She has then taken over as medicine cat, though not a day goes by that she doesn’t think about her old life. On the outside no one would ever notice however as she masks it all so well beneath her rough exterior. [ѕαcяєɗмσση]
Forest Walkers
Alderbranch | Forest Walker | Male Alderbranch is a slender, muscular dark brown tom with black marbled tabby-like patterns spread across his body. He has forest green eyes and a white chest and muzzle. His fur is just above short, sticking out in certain places and making his slender frame seem bulkier than it really is, even with his muscles. Alderbranch is a calm and collected cat. He's a forest walker through and through, taking pride in his abilities and skills. He has an ambitious side because of it, indirectly aiming for higher positions of respect in the clan. He likes to pass on knowledge and advice to other cats, even river gliders and those that aren't his apprentices. He's fairly decent at river glider skills at well, though he most likely just passes it off as better than he actually is. [ѕαcяєɗмσση]
Haretooth | Forest Walker | Male Haretooth is a medium-furred light brown tom with a missing tail. His fur is fluffed out and messy most of the time, and he bears amber eyes. He has a thin scratch-like scar on his left cheek, as well two on his left shoulder. On his right hindquarters he has a few large scars where the fur seems to have been ripped away and won't grow back. He also carries a notch in each of his ears. Haretooth is an interesting forest walker, mainly because of his lack of a tail. He tends to jump and leap to his locations rather than ever simply just walk. Even if he is walking, it's at a quick pace. He has exceptional speed in the forest terrain and has a knack for climbing any tree he can. Like his appearance, Haretooth has a rather rough personality, never really in a playful or friendly mood. He focuses on his duties and is one of the first cats to get on apprentices for playing around. He is definitely known as one of the meaner cats in PineClan, but no matter what anyone tells him it hardly makes him soften up in the slightest. [ѕαcяєɗмσση]
Ebonysong | Forest Walker | Female Ebonysong is a black, short-furred she-cat with pale blue eyes resembling ice. She has light grey toes, ear fur, muzzle, and blaze on the top of her snout going closer to her eyes. Her tail tip and the middle of her tail also carry this color. She also carries three spots on her shoulders and one on the corners of her eyes. Ebonysong is a natural forest walker, enjoying every outing she goes on. She is bubbly and cheerful and always eager to learn. A fault in this personality of hers however is that she tends to be on the naive side, and Snowberry usually needs to guide her in the right direction before she makes an ignorant choice. Ebonysong rarely struggles to get along with anyone, though any stick in the mud would find her annoying, she still attempts to stay on their good side and keep a friendly attitude. She struggles to perform any river glider task or skill, yet she usually goes to her sister whenever she needs advice on their aquatic world. [ѕαcяєɗмσση]
River Gliders
Russetfeather | River Glider | Male Russetfeather is a sleek, medium long-furred, russet tom with cream coloration on his muzzle, eye-rims and chest fur. His pelt carries an almost feather-like consistency and is shown most strongly in his tail where the fur fans out against the ground and actually resembles a feather. His eyes are a bright yellow color. Russetfeather is a rather calm and generally easy going cat who doesn’t enjoy being anywhere near drama of any kind. He generally goes out of his way to avoid anyone who could potentially cause him to exert more energy than he deems necessary at any point in time. Russetfeather is a huge cleanpaw, refusing to do anything that could get him in trouble at any point in time just so he doesn’t have to exert more effort into dealing with it. If it wasn’t made clear, this tom is absurdly lazy. Of course he’s not the type to sleep in like a dormouse, though he’d love to, however he prefers to keep the effort he puts into anything and everything to an absolute minimum. This can go for hunting, fighting or even everyday things such as conversation. While he can be a bit of a social butterfly when he wants to be, typically it’s hard to get more than a “hi”, “bye”, “yes” or “no” out of this cat. He’s probably just nod his head if it worked to communicate with those who weren’t looking at him. Russetfeather is actually more likely to show his lackluster amount of motivation to forest walkers over fellow river gliders. It is unclear whether this is discriminatory behavior towards them due to his past or if it’s just a coincidence. Russetfeather was actually a forest walker as a young apprentice and was moved over to being a river glider after the premature death of his previous mentor. Due to a lack of warriors at the time compared to apprentices, the only option was to apprentice his to an open river glider. While few mention it, during his time as a forest walker, he was generally much more excitable and seemed to actually enjoy a life outside of his lazy habits. [𝙿𝚑𝚊𝚗𝚝𝚘𝚖𝚜𝚢𝚕𝚟𝚎𝚘𝚗]
Leopardcreek | River Glider | Female Leopardcreek is a well muscled, thick pelted, white she-cat with pale silver tabby spots and large, powerful webbed paws. Her build is sturdy and strong with a long, thick tail and piercing ice blue eyes. Leopardcreek is perhaps one of the more calm members of Pineclan, never seeming to get anything more than slightly annoyed with anyone or anything. She’s not easily bothered, typically taking all things around her in stride regardless of how ridiculous or absurd it may be. She’s not afraid to “tell it how it really is” and actually will straight up insult or look down on others simply because she feels obligated to do so. It’s actually pretty hard to keep her in line as well due to her sassy nature. She generally views herself to be “hot stuff” and doesn’t let what anyone says get to her. This can be as simple as someone calling her hunting techniques sloppy to the deputy telling her off for doing something wrong. She seems to think rules aren't an obligation and isn’t afraid for a moment to break them and does so without a care for the repercussions. She does hate the punishments that come with breaking the rules after it’s all said and done. Usually this keeps her in line for about a half moon before she’d back to causing trouble again. [𝙿𝚑𝚊𝚗𝚝𝚘𝚖𝚜𝚢𝚕𝚟𝚎𝚘𝚗]
Snowberry | River Glider | Female Snowberry is a pure white, medium-furred she-cat with pale blue eyes resembling ice. She has a silver face, ears, paws, and tail that fades out and gets lighter the closer it gets to her torso. In contrast to the calm, lightness of the rest of her pelt, she has pure black toes. Snowberry has two very thin scars on her shoulder. This warrior is rather calm and collected, and it takes a lot to get her very angry. However, at the same time, sometimes she’ll become furious at the littlest things, like an apprentice forgetting to bring the elders prey. Nonetheless, she is a cat who always thinks about every decision thoroughly before taking action, weighing out the pros and cons every time. She dislikes the heat, and is hardly ever delighted about leaving the camp unless absolutely necessary during Greenleaf. She is just the opposite during leafbare however, offering to lead many patrols during this time of the season. It’s easy to tell it might be a factor because of the color of her pelt, as she blends in much better with the snow than the green undergrowth during the warmer seasons. Because of this, hunting has its good days and bad days for her, though she has learned many techniques to help with cope with hunting with her pelt. This is the reason why she chose to be a river glider where she has a fair chance of catching prey as opposed to the forest. While she may seem like she is full of wisdom and such on the outside, on the inside she is just as playful as a kit, though only the medicine cat ever sees her rather carefree, laid-back side. She tends to have a flirty and sassy attitude during these moments, but because she keeps it so well hidden, it’s rare to see. [ѕαcяєɗмσση]
Apprentices
Otterpaw | Apprentice (River Glider) | Male Otterpaw is a sleek grey-brown tom with a lighter grey undercoat from his chin all the way down to his tail tip. He has webbed paws and deep blue eyes. Otterpaw is essentially in love with the water and everything to do with it. He's a natural born swimmer and always rushes from camp through the forest to reach the nearest source of water. In fact he has been known to swim in the streams rather than actually walk unless absolutely necessary. Whenever their is a drought of any form he is known for becoming depressed because of the lack of water. He had been scolded by the medicine cats in the past for running out in the rain and remaining wet for far too long, but it hasn't stopped him yet. He is also known for getting depressed in the colder seasons, where his body tells him not to stay in the water for too long or he will lose too much body heat and inevitably pass to StarClan far too soon. When this tom isn't thinking about water, he is very eager to learn and help others and carries a friendly and playful composure. He's even known for cracking a pretty good joke or two now and then when the situation arises. [ѕαcяєɗмσση]
Ashpaw | Apprentice (Forest Walker) | Male Ashpaw is a heavily scarred gray tom with dark gray chest fur, tail, markings under his eyes and the very top of his head. His chest fur and tail fur are highly poofy, heavily contrasting his short-furred appearance. He has a very distinctive three long scars diagonally across his face with a smaller crescent moon on his left cheek at the end of the longer ones. Four of his teeth poke out from under his upper lip and his eyes are a vibrant yellow. Ashpaw is a very moody and generally antisocial tom who tries his best to avoid dealing with others if possible. He’s actually surprisingly calm despite his tendency to throw insults without anyone really doing anything at all. In fact, Ashpaw isn't easily agitated at all. He could have two kits pulling at his ears and he wouldn’t even flinch. The only known issue is that Ashpaw is surprisingly aggressive in combat regardless of if it’s training or an actual life or death battle scenario. Ashpaw was actually born within Pineclan and was quite quite a happy kit. He, along with his two siblings Graykit and Dustkit were highly curious and always looking for a reason to get under someone’s paws during their daily routine. During his third moon of life, Ashpaw was struck with a sudden bout of misfortune. His father was supposedly slain by a rouge during a patrol and his sister Graykit lost her life soon after from swallowing deathberries. Their deaths were bizarre and actually quite unexplainable and yet there was little anyone could do to explain them. Who would want to murder a kit after all. Three days later, Ashpaw was assaulted in his sleep by his mother’s previous mate. While help came from a warrior who was having a late night visit to the dirtplace and saved Ashpaw’s life, his mother and brother did not make it through. The tom was banished from Pineclan, but the damage was done. Having lost his kin, Ashpaw became secluded, even more so when his wounds healed leaving him heavily scarred and made him embarrassed of his appearance. His embarrassment and sorrow shifted into an internal rage after receiving his apprentice name. He is determined to someday hunt down the cat who destroyed his kithood. [𝙿𝚑𝚊𝚗𝚝𝚘𝚖𝚜𝚢𝚕𝚟𝚎𝚘𝚗]
Minnowpaw | Apprentice (River Glider) | Female Minnowpaw is a sleek, medium long-furred, marbled silver tabby she-cat with bright green eyes. Her chest, underbelly, tail-tip, eye-rims and ears are white and she has small white dots on her hindquarters. Minnowpaw is a very hyperactive and easily excitable she-cat, always looking forwards to the upcoming days with a bounce in her step. She isn’t fond of waiting around and often gets rather impatient the longer it takes those around her to get up and ready. She isn’t much of a rule breaker however and does prefer to follow orders and the Warrior Code to the best of her ability, growing nervous when the suggestion of stepping outside of the rules comes up. She is incredibly loyal and won’t hesitate to jump headfirst into danger in order to protect her clanmates, even if it means breaking the rules. Minnowpaw is a river glider till the day she dies, having always preferred the water to land even as a kit. While she does try to put into practice the hunting and combat techniques of the forest walkers, she usually ends up shying away from them in favor of a nice dip in a stream. While she isn’t particularly fond of their way of life, Minnowpaw is willing to socialize with forest walkers as much as she does with other river gliders. She won’t go as far as to join a land patrol of her own free will, but during her downtime she may join her friends in a hunt, though she’s not guaranteed to catch anything. [𝙿𝚑𝚊𝚗𝚝𝚘𝚖𝚜𝚢𝚕𝚟𝚎𝚘𝚗]
Queens
Kits
Elders
Outsiders
Sniper | Rogue | Male Sniper is an average sized tom, with a short pelt and seasoned muscles rippling beneath. He bears deep blue eyes. His coat is a black tabby with ever so slightly lighter grey paws, and there are a few scars across his body, consisting of a thin scratch-like mark on his cheek, and a place on his haunches where the fur has been ripped away and won't grow back. The fur around his neck seems to be permanently more flattened than the rest of his pelt, as though it is too accustomed to wearing a collar of some sort in that area. His bears strong paws with longer claws, and a powerful bite in his jaw for those who rub his fur the wrong way. His right ear also contains two notches, further implying how many battles this cat has been involved in. He is apparently named after a skill of his, in which he is able to use his stealth to take down cats in battle before they even knew what hit them, and also uses such stealth to be an excellent hunter in both the forest and the river, though he's not much of a fast runner. As far as personality, he seems to appear friendly enough despite what he is rumored for, avoiding a true fight if necessary. Sniper is more often seen exposing himself to PineClan warriors, usually through a "play fight" he instigates before rolling away so he doesn't risk an injury. He is rather calm and carefree, and uses his stealth to sneak away in sticky situations upon accidentally getting involved with one of the more hostile warriors of the clan. [ѕαcяєɗмσση]
Maya | Kittypet | Female Maya is a medium-furred Siamese munchkin she-cat with large pale blue eyes. Her markings are lighter than the traditional siamese. Maya is a fairly excitable cat, always looking to play a game regardless of if she has to beg her housefolk or find another cat to play with. She’s fairly curious and loves to explore though usually she only heads out when she gets bored and wants to find someone to play with. She’s generally smart enough to stay out of Pineclan’s way since her nose does work, but that doesn’t stop her from bounding up to the borders to chat it up with passing patrols regardless if they want to speak to the bubbly kittypet or not. One thing she does mindlessly is occasionally hunt around Pineclan’s territory. She never really eats what she catches and usually just leaves it lying there. Fortunate patrols may find some of her sloppy kills scattered about just outside of the border. [𝙿𝚑𝚊𝚗𝚝𝚘𝚖𝚜𝚢𝚕𝚟𝚎𝚘𝚗]

Welcome You feel a warm, comforting presence overcast you. You're nestled safely inside the nursery, only a few days old with the rest of your litter. Tucked against your mother's belly, you hear different voices all around you congratulating your mother on a litter of healthy kits. You nestle closer, a bit overwhelmed by all these new sounds.
You recognize your mother's voice raise above the rest, carrying a bit of a sharpness to it. "Give the kits some space!" she says with a snort. "They're barely used to the world, let alone all these visitors!" You can't see, but you can feel the air in the nursery become a little clearer. Voices start to fade and you feel a bit more at ease that the commotion has dissipated. "Oh, of course you can come in...Sorry, there were just so many cats in here! I wouldn't turn you away," your mother's voice continues, as though someone else is still with you all inside the warm den.
You can't help but squirm a little as you feel something prod at your back gently. You let out a little squeal, kneading closer to your mother. Whatever had poked you let out a chuckle. "They're beautiful," the voice carried an overpowering air, as if this cat wasn't just any cat. "They'll make a wonderful addition to PineClan. Do you hear me, little ones?" The voice seemed to grow closer to you and your littermates. "Only StarClan knows where your paws will take you in your futures, but I know you will each serve your purpose on this world. Whether that be as a forest walker, river glider, or perhaps even a future medicine cat, you will be welcomed and cared for in this home you were born into. Welcome to PineClan, young kits."
***
You walk through a mixed forest. While there are mostly pine trees, you also pass by other types of trees occasionally as well. As you trot on without too much notice to your surroundings, you make a quick leap over a small stream and carry on your way. With greenleaf at its peak, there is plenty of bird call above you, and as you open up your senses, you can smell and hear all other sorts of critters on the forest floor. This place is new to you, yet its flourishing and looked as if it could sustain you for many seasons. The question was if you wanted to settle here, or keep moving. The prey scent and relaxing atmosphere was most definitely tempting. Before you can make a decision, your head whips around as you hear a violent thrashing coming from the undergrowth near you. Instantly a new scent hits your nostrils, and you're surprised you hadn't noticed it before as it blatantly surrounded the area. Cats!
Pushing through the undergrowth came three cats, all looking strong built and formidable. You can tell by their appearance that they are used to this terrain as the head of this small group strode towards. "Trespasser! You are walking in PineClan's territory. We do not welcome outsiders." The cat pauses, looking you over. You're quite taken aback by the sight of them, and the cat seems to notice this. "You must not be from around here. Very well, I'll give you two options. You can come with us, and we can take you back to our leader. You seem to like this territory we claim as our own, hm? If you prove yourself and attempt to become one of us and learn our ways, perhaps you can also call this your home. However, if living with a group doesn't fit with your style, you are to get off our territory. We will let you go calmly today, but if you're ever seen past our borders again, you won't leave unscathed. Well, trespasser?" The cat keeps its eyes on you. "What will it be?" Our History The dawn of Pineclan was a period marked by battle and bloodshed like few before it. The territory at the time was vast and easily capable of providing shelter and good hunting to many cats and for a time that was all that mattered. Some cats crept through the dense pine forests, preying upon the unsuspecting quarry scurrying about in the shadows or in the trees above. Others took pride in their strong swimming abilities and hunted fish along with prey along the banks of the territories’ many rivers and creeks. The forest provided shelter for the many wild cats who roamed the area and rarely was there need for conflict aside from the occasional confusion over minor prey and “territory” rights. Everyone had a little space to themselves and generally there was a strong sense of respect and perhaps even bonds of trust among the cats as they lived together and yet apart, occasionally working to support one another.
Over time, the numbers of cats who called the pine forest home began to swell. Small run-ins began to occur more often and the cats, more focused on self-preservation began to invade the space of others. The trust that held these cats’ fragile relationship together finally shattered and thus led to violence over prey and territory. Something as simple as approaching a stream for water could result in serious injuries or even death and it growing clear that the cats might not hold out.
The arrival of a large pack of stray dogs changed everything as the cats were suddenly under siege by an entirely new threat. While these dogs never seemed interested in hunting the cats, they took over the territory, fed off of their prey and occasionally would kill a few cats just for sport. Danger had crept into the forest and yet, rivalries continued to blossom. The further loss of territory left many more cats without shelter and prey was far scarcer.
The violence only came to a halt with the rising of a tom by the name of Pine. Having lived in the woodland since kithood, he recalled the days of unity and peace that had once held the cats together beneath the trees and longed for its return. Perhaps his reasoning was selfish, but that didn’t change the fact that he successfully rounded up those whose hearts were defiled with hate and distrust and replenished them with hope. Pine led the battle to drive the dog pack from the forest, temporarily bringing back the peace that he recalled from kithood as the cats were filled with joy from their victory and together mourned those who didn’t survive the battle. The unity the cats felt was not easily shaken, however, issues once more arose. Pine often found himself breaking up deadly fights as the cats continued their lives of separation and once more things started to fall apart. This time was different. Pine was not alone.
Those who had lost their lives from the original battles as well as the battle against the dogs had seen the threat looming above their kin who continued to fight amongst themselves for survival. Revealing themselves to the living cats, they condemned them for failing to see what their selfishness was causing. They ordered the cats of the pine forest to come together and rely on one another to survive. The forest would not be split by the needs of few, but rather the needs of all as the cats living as rogues, loners and kittypets would become warriors serving a clan. Naming Pine as the cat destined to lead them, these deceased cats granted the tom nine lives to properly guide and protect the clan that he would soon found. About The Cats PineClan cats are divided into two different groups of warriors because of the two main kinds of terrain in their territory.
Forest walkers are the warriors that are trained to walk the forest. They hunt and are more skilled at fighting where it's dry. While they are required to learn how to swim in case of an emergency, as well as know the basics of fishing, their main focus is to hunt, fight, and patrol the forest.
River gliders are quite the opposite, trained in the coolness of the water. They are strong swimmers and can catch fish in the water or prey that lives close to the riverbanks. Their combat is generally focused on using the presence of water to their advantage and more patrols are done solely by swimming along the steep creeks and streams throughout Pineclan territory. They are not all that skilled in performing combat and tasks on land, but they manage when they are required to learn in case of emergency. Clan Traditions In most clans, when a medicine cat apprentice is first introduced to Starclan during the half-moon, this is when the young cat is truly accepted as the medicine cat's apprentice. Within Pineclan, this is not the case. As the clan wishes to only have cats who are capable of standing in between conflict rather than be swayed by the heart, the cat must dream with their mentor and meet with a Starclan cat. Only once they have met with a Starclan warrior under the watchful eye of their mentor can a cat truly be accepted at a full medicine cat apprentice.
During an apprentice's warrior assessment, these apprentices are commonly tested on the skills of a "River Glider" or a "Forest Walker" respectively. However, in order to make sure that the apprentice will be ready in any kind of situation in order to defend their clan, the apprentices are given a surprise task that is only done by the opposite type of warrior. This task could be as simple as catching a mouse/fish or climbing a tree/swimming. For mentors who care more about the skills of their apprentice, they will often give a much more difficult and meaningful task for their apprentice to accomplish. Only once they have proven themselves capable of completing this assignment, regardless of their performance on other assessment material, will an apprentice receive their warrior name.
As there are not other clans, PineClan does not hold gatherings of any kind. Medicine cats still visit the Moontree to speak with StarClan every half moon, however. Rules & Regulations ♱ Follow Forum Rules - Self explanatory. Please follow.
♱ Activity - Attempt to be on as often as possible. I understand that school and work are quite an issue when it comes to activity and even though I usually can be on most of the week I know better than to expect the same out of anyone else (Sacred will probs be on less than me). Please warn me ahead of time before taking a long leave. Two weeks is the time limit you have an unexcused absence before deletion. This does add up if you disappear for maybe a week, appear for a day and vanish for another week. I can't count that.
♱ Literacy - I expect all members to be capable of typing at least three lines at a time, however, this does not mean just type three lines. I want detailed posts that display more than a simple, non-detailed character action. We should be able to feel the character's emotions and visualize the cat and their situation. I can even allow two lines or less if you can manage to display adequate detail. After all, we all know the struggles of writer's block. In certain situations, one-liners can also be okay, but be careful with this as we will call you out if your reply is inadequate for someone to work with. Also, I do not allow first person.
♱ Kit-___ - I do not have a huge issue with kit-stealing. I respect this as another form of roleplay that may add plot to our roleplay, however, please ask permission from me or Sacred first. Not some random member. Us. Also if the kits are stolen, we get to take them back unless the owner of the kit says otherwise. If you do not agree with this, you may not steal from here. Nothing else of the sort is allowed.
♱ Characters - While I do not care for limiting characters, I expect all members to only have as many as they can handle. I have a few extras for people who lack a roleplay partner, however, others should make sure to have only as many as they plan to roleplay at once. I expect each character to have been used at least once every two months. If I see one getting a lack of love, we may need to discuss removing him. Also, make sure your characters are dynamic. Avoid creating a ton of Tigerstars and Firestars within the clan. Another thing is your character cannot always be the center of attention. This is called spotlighting and is a quick way to get kicked. Everyone needs a moment to shine, don't hog it all to yourself. Mary-sue and Gary-stu characters are also not allowed. These are characters who are either too perfect ( flawless ) or are the super gloomy, I hate my life characters. Both of which lead back to our enemy Mr. Spotlighting. Don't. Do. It. Don't forget that names shouldn't be something that a cat doesn't know much about, or doesn't relate at all to the character.
♱ Respect - Treat others the way you'd want to be treated. Drama belongs in the roleplay and not outside of it as it is highly disrespectful to you, me, the opposing party and any other members. Also remember that words sound differently over the internet compared to face to face. There is a lack of emotion that makes it difficult to see what is meant. Be careful before you post.
♱ Roleplay Etiquette - As stated before, this is a somewhat advanced/semi-advanced roleplay. If you do not know what that means, then here's the layout. Expect no less than three lines per roleplay post. Each post must contain a decent amount of detail as if you are writing lines from the books. "Blahpelt ate a mouse. It tasted good." Is an example of how to make me bite my own head off. (not really) "Blahpelt nibbled on the tender flesh of the mouse, savoring each and every bite. He highly enjoyed his meal, finding forest prey to be far more tasteful than the fish that his clanmates dragged home on a regular basis." Now that is a lot better. Was that too hard? It may not be long, but It's a good start. Remember that you are acting out this cat to their very soul. Share their thoughts and emotions, not just their actions and words. That is the way to roleplay here. Also, let's keep things realistic. No kit's beating up clan leaders on their own etc. If I decide you aren't realistic enough or don't add enough detail I will confront you about it and may end up removing you from the roleplay if done too much.
♱ Leader/ Medicine Cat Names Apprentices - Not only is this a rule that is true to canon (unless you’re Crowfeather), this is just a rule to keep things organized.
♱ Mates - We all can appreciate a bit of romance around here since that is probably what will be keeping the clan alive (we needz kittenzzz), however that doesn’t mean that two cats can just randomly decide that they’re ready to become mates out of the blue one day. Realistically, no one just sees someone else and decides, “that’s the person I’m going to potentially spend the rest of my days with and the parent of my kits”. Crushes are always okay, however, I’d like to see some clear signs in roleplay suggesting a developing relationship before I add your cats to the list of mates. If you've read the rules, put password in the somewhere after your form. Another issue that we have seen is that people tend to pair up their own cats. Please don’t do this. Roleplay with other people and forge relationships this way. It’s alright that you may not be able to find a potential mate for your character or at least someone who’s interested in them. That’s not what being a warrior is about and there will hopefully be much more to do than just worry about finding love.
♱ Apprentices Must Roleplay Training - While you don’t need to roleplay training all the time, it would be nice to see some regular apprentice training going on. Take your apprentice for hunting or battle training, assign them to clean the elder's den or the nursery, take them to visit the Moontree, or maybe even show them the territory. How can an apprentice become a warrior just because they are “old enough” and yet have never gone training once in their lives? I will hold back apprentice ceremonies for this.
♱ Keep Things Surprising - Please don’t discuss things with us all the time. While we would love a warning (cough permission cough) on big events that could affect everyone in the roleplay, don’t be afraid to do something wild for fun! Have a badger appear during a patrol, chase off some rogues, let a character die, have your cat expecting kits without warning the person who rps their mate! We love to keep things spicy and always having something going on is just the way to do it. Don’t always wait for myself or Sacred to start something new.
