Beneath the Mask
Dukes, Lords, Officers; members of the elite class of Victoria England. The wealthy and the rich, even certain members of the upper middle class have been invited to the Nightsone mansion for a masquerade ball. It's the perfect opportunity for maidens and sirs to to find love without the stress of social standings.
This roleplay takes place in the Victorian era in England. The idea is pretty cliche, but it's still fun to roleplay nonetheless. I ask that you type at least two sentences and have basic knowledge of this era. No text talking and try not to go past pg 13 as far as sexual content goes. Remember that the upper class was proper and didn't use most of our curse words, so keep foul language to a minimum. -- Alexia Domin, daughter of Lord Lucas Domin who owns 145,000 acres of land and he as well as her two elder brothers were well known doctors, though her father was retired from the trade and worked to keep order in their estate. Her corset was wound tight, the dull ache a familiar feeling from wearing one most of her life. Her skin was pale and fair, her long hair a cool, ash, blonde that was done in loose curls. Her clear, light blue eyes peeled out from the white mask that covers the area around her eyes. A short layer of silver trim lined the border of the mask decorated with white and gold, translucent gems. On the bottom right side of the mask was a series of dark blue gems with a light blue, satin bow above it over three tall feathers, two white and one stained a dark blue. On the white of the mask was a wavy silver, blue design of thin lines. Over her corset, petticoat and underdress she wore multiple layers of white satin with a transparent later above it designed with small, pastel blue flowers. She had two layers over that, one going a third down on skirt and the second going down a fifth of the skirt. Her sleeves were long and ended in a lace bell-sleeve with pastel small blue flowers designed on it. She wore white heels with blue lining on them. The world seemed to shake and bounce under her as the coach continued down the rode, four ivory horses with black manes drawing it. Her elder brothers sat across from her dressed in white suits with a black undershirts and silver ties, the eldest wearing a lack mask, the other wearing a silver mask. They each held their invitation in their wrap, the violet wax seal moons broken from the previously opened seal.

hey! This looks awesome!))
Emerson stepped out of the carriage that he had ridden in for the past two hours. He held out a hand as his sister stepped down from the carriage, her overly large gold skirt not making things easy, and yet she did it elegantly without much trouble. The siblings were dressed in their house colors, gold and burgundy. Emerson's suit was of the darkest burgundy, his waistcoat stitched of gold with a pocket watch chain that blended in. His mask was simple, gold with a burgundy lining. His sister, Darian, wore a gold dress with burgundy accents and her mask was burgundy with gold beading. The siblings were the inverse of one another, much like their personalities. Once Darian had exited the carriage Emerson offered his arm to her and they began their walk into the manor, backs rigid and poised. Darian gazed around the area, her peripheral vision was blocked by her mask which she begrudgingly wore. She was uncomfortable but you would not have known that by her cool Amber gaze. She had a slight smile on her face as she gazed at all that was going on around her..

The family coach stopped behind a carraige and the driver opened the door for them. Her eldest brother stepped out first and offered his hand for an easy descent. She exited the coach by help of his hand and waited for her second brother to exit. Once the three siblings began to walk, Alexia heard the coach door close and the silver coach started up again. Her families colors were white and black, but silver was worn more then not, mainly as the females as her family believed black to be more masculine so silver was the go-to, the perfect mixture of white and black. Her brothers bordered her on each side and escorted her an appropriate distance behind a lady and sir wearing burgundy and gold. The manor was most impressive, but nothing less were expected from a duke.

Darian and Emerson entered the manor and gazed around looking for any familiar faces in the sea of masks. Emerson led them off to the side where they wouldn't be in the way and then gazed about. Darian was less than excited to be there but Emerson was positively buzzing beneath his mask, his dimples showing as he grinned at all that was happening around them. Darian simply patted his arm and made her way into the crowd deciding that while she was here she may as well mingle. Emerson made to follow her but paused for just a moment, taking one more look at the hustle and bustle surrounding him.

The butler took their invitations and Alexia walked into the mass of people, the thought that any of them might not be who they say they are never crossed her mind. She quite simply loved masquerades, the mystery, the elegance, but she most loved choosing the perfect dress to match the perfect mask. Of corse, it was only her third masquerade and the men she'd met simply bored her with facts or didn't speak at all. She had yet to find a sir who she fancied. Of corse, her second oldest brother had been betrothed since his second celebration of birth where he was decided to marry their cousin to keep family blood pure in at least one line of the family. She decided she would get a little ways away near the edge before heading into the crowd, preferring not to be around her brothers. Alexia made her way around the edge of the party and caught a flash of burgundy before entering the crowd.
Damian, a name he thought was fitting for him, the eldest son, headed into the crowd, noting Alexia heading away. He noticed his young brother had done the same; he was simply a disgrace, but he cold only hope once he decided to marry their cousin the boy would stop such behavior. He stole girls hearts then gave a flash of his ring upon leaving. Damian entered the crowd, looking for a miss to ask for a dance; socialization was about, but he knew soon that music would change to signify the start of the many waltz' that would come.

Emerson turned to see a young woman walking on the outside of the great hall and decided he may as well start there. She looked radiant in her silver dress and though he didn't know who she was, most of these people were dressed in their colors much like he and Darian were so if he had paid more attention in his studies he may have at least known her last name. With a smile he dipped into a bow in front of her. "You look wonderful tonight." He said as he came out of his bow. The Lord's son dared not chance getting her title wrong seeing as he did not know her.
Darian was now firmly in the middle of what was soon to be the dance floor and she allowed her lips to turn downward for a moment, not knowing what she had expected to happen when she got here. She recognized various house colors but did not particularly want to speak to any of them and yet she was here so she may as well attempt to socialize.

Alexia wondered if anyone could tell which family she was from, she was dressed drastically different from her brothers, seeing as she wore much blue over her white satin, blue was her favorite color after all. It was regal and serious, but the soft blue of the floral print gave off a more welcoming and friendly tone while the dark blue gems and feather on her mask told she wasn't to be played. His dark burgundy pulled a small string in the back of her mind, but she could not recall which family the vibrant color belonged. Deciding she needed to be polite, she curtsied in return to his bow before giving him her hand to kiss. If his family was below her family, which was a lord's, then it would show her family was not one to be walked over, but if he was above her or the same, the courtesy would show she was respectful to them. "You have my gratitude. You look splendid as well. The burgundy makes you noticeable, in a grand way." She smiled at him, her eyes shinning.

Emerson smiled, dark eyes twinkling brightly he took the lady's hand and lifted it to his lips, touching her knuckles gently to his mouth before standing up straight again. "Why thank you, I can't say that I would have chosen this for just anything but I do feel quite nice." He said with a grin, smoothing the front of the coat down subconsciously..

"It is nothing to be shameful about. Perhaps if not from it, together we may not be tonight." Alexia said before music began playing, softly at first but gradually rising, allowing for time for pairs to be made. "What jest, they think this ironic. I do believe this song to be named Masquarade waltz." Amusement laced the lady's voice and she assumed him to take her into a waltz, pairs already starting the counter-clockwise motion around the room.

Emerson listened to the woman and then the music and his grin widened. "Why then we can't allow such irony go to waste, might I have this dance?" He asked, holding out a hand to the woman standing before him, a hopeful glint in his eyes. Dancing was surprisingly one of his favorite things so it wasn't to difficult for him to ask her.

"I would be delighted." Alexia accepted his proposal to the dance. She took his hand, glad for him to have given the invitation. The waltz was her favorite dance and she spent most of her time in her dance lessons practicing.

{{hey! I was hanging out with a friend yesterday and working for most of today!}}
Emerson led them down to the dance floor, passing his sister as he went by. Darian was actually speaking to someone at the moment so she didn't see him as he passed. Once on the dance floor Emerson turned to the woman before him, an excited smile on his face. He began to match the beat of the song with his own steps, carefully guiding around other dancers surrounding the two.

((It's totally fine!))
Alexia walked with Emerson into the dance and followed his actions as he matched the best, letting the pushes and pulls guide her into and away from his form. "A splendid Eve to host a ball, wouldn't you agree? The crescent moon could be seen clearly all the way to the mansion, not a hint of rain to come." She decided this would be a good way to spark a conversation. Weather wasn't the most interesting topic, but it was a good starter.
