Also Dakota will be playing so we will have to do it either over skype or some other form of website.
I could actually potentially do a discord server, hmmmmmm

I think i'm just retaining my tired crankiness from having slept in so late.

I get like that after several nights with too little sleep.

Post by Deleted on Aug 15, 2017 15:55:19 GMT -5
I get that a lot. If I oversleep, it's almost like I'm worse off than from staying up late, and I usually can't stop yawning.

I'm a really big jerk right when I wake up honestly. And my sleeping has been kind of erratic because I can't get myself to sleep until 2-3am because i'm not tired and just end up laying there awake, but then everybody's alarms start going off between 5-8am and going to work and the floors/ceiling is so creaky I wake up too until like 10 and then I can finally go back to sleep until like 1-3 in the afternoon.
It's made me crabby but I also can't exactly fix it.

Ahh, that sucks :/ I guess that's the downside to basement-living, I get that too when I stay at my parents' place/when I crash on the couch downstairs. Esp. when my dad walks around upstairs, he's a big dude so the floors creak a ton

Sometimes I'm afraid one of these days his gigantic mother is going to flop her enormous butt on the couch too hard as usual one day and her and the couch are going to come crashing through the floor on top of me.

Oh dear xD If it makes you feel any better my dad was probably pushing 270 pounds at his heaviest and he's fallen down a flight of stairs in our house without breaking them before (though since he wasn't actually hurt from the fall it was kinda hilarious honestly)

Idk how much she weighs but i know she's stated that dakota is like half her weight and he's 210. .-. She also has no concept of what sitting down gently is. She flops everywhere she sits. She's broken two recliners and a dining chair in the past year.

I joke about that when we move out if she comes around for a visit she isn't allowed to be on our furniture and lowkey mean it.

It's a legit concern. Like I don't have a problem with people being bigger/it's none of my business but if there's one thing that's irritated me since I was a toddler it's people destroying my stuff, whether on purpose or not
I had a friend/ex-roommate come to visit my dorm once before we left residence, let's just say he was quite clearly a bigger guy, and I only had a few seating options in my room: the floor, my bed, or this little vanity-seat/bench thing that I paid good money for and actually really enjoy because I find it adorbs. The latter has a weight limit on it of like, 160 pounds (it's really smol)
I didn't want to come right out and say that in front of him so I tried just passing the bench off as "really uncomfortable", hoping he'd take the hint and sit on my bed instead. But nope. He plopped himself right down on the wee bench and I was internally screaming for the next 10 minutes until he got up -_-'

I only have a problem because her doctors tell her she needs to exercise for the diabetes to go away and instead she uses her illness and weight as leverage for people to pity her and do everything for her, which then makes her health worse etc etc. She's gonna have another stroke which is Not Good.

Yeah, strokes are Never a Good Thing. I may have spent an hour at work the other day reading about patients who had had post-stroke brain surgeries....yeah probably shouldn't have done that. It's all so graphic/terrifying

On that note I'm pretty worried about my grandma more than just being a little goofy as she's always been. She's been kinda fluctuating between talking seriously and normally and then in another moment she'll be trying to talk in this little kid voice and start treating inanimate objects (mostly her collection of stuffed bears) like people and giving them personalities and playing with them and she'll talk to me on the phone about what they like or don't like and it just seems really.... off. She's always collected bears and been strange (just so you know where I get it from) but this is really different somehow and freaks me out a bit. She was doing this pre-stroke too. So idk.

Aww, I'm sorry to hear that about your grandma :/ Do you know if she's been to a doctor or anything lately to get a checkup done? Also if she lives by herself sometimes older people do kinda get that way over time/with a combination of other factors of course. My great gram had gotten to a point where she was convinced my mom was actually just her regular "bedside nurse" and was convinced her own daughter was her mother, it was all very confusing (she had been living in an independent living home for a long time and because they don't get the same social stimulation/intense care as nursing homes I sometimes wondered if that would've helped her at that point).

Yeah, though I've gone for regular visits and she has people over. Then again this was also a woman who got married to her husband at 17 and was with him for 40 years until he passed away so I know she's always been super lonely ever since. I wish i had the stomach to get a certified nursing assistant because I really love old people. I could sit there and just listen to them tell me things about their lives all day.

Old people are amazing tbh. I always tell my mum I think I learned more from my great gram than from a lot of Canadian history classes I took in school (she was a first-generation Canadian born to Norwegian and Swedish parents for the record).
Hmm, I'm not sure about the training itself but I know one of my mum's friends is a nursing assistant in a seniors' home, and that sounds like a lot of her job description. Like I don't think she gets involved in any actual needle-giving or anything like that (tbh giving needles and just generally patients being really sick/helpless are the only reasons I didn't wanna do nursing)

I wish they'd just hire me for wanting to spend time with old people and play bingo with them sometimes. But unfortunately that's not a job they offer, and it SHOULD BE. I'm really uncomfortable seeing other people in pain though so giving them needles or stuff like that would make me really sick to my stomach. Not that it's their fault, but I get squeamish. I've had to visit my grandma in several nursing home/rehabs afterwards and they were all really depressing dismal places, and the staff seemed to not care and be in it for money. She had to get moved out of one because they wouldn't come to her yelling and pressing the need assistance button for HOURS and she had gotten sick in the bed and had to sleep in it and nobody showed up until it was time to get her for breakfast and we were like this close to suing them because what if it wasn't just vomit and she was having another stroke or something? She would have died and it would have been their faults.

Tbh that'd be the best job, people would be lined up out of the doors to get it. I used to be part of a voice school/choir-like thing, and every Christmas and spring we would go in to one of the nursing homes and perform for the residents at mealtime. I love getting to make them smile (even though I'm convinced half of them couldn't hear me, lol)
That's actually so horrible. Sometimes nursing staff at the hospital/homes is just so careless? I remember it being really hard for my great gram to even get her daily checkup done (for bedsores, infections and whatnot) when she was in palliative care. The woman was 97 years old and clearly dying and somehow she wasn't a priority patient? It just made me sick. I went in a couple times to visit her, and honestly thank goodness she wasn't well enough to get up and walk away because I truly believe she would've tried to escape, she hated the hospital.

I cannot actually manage to swallow my depression and disappointment today over the eclipse because its just rained all day.
and yesterday i just wanted chips and somehow the entire bag was an unsalted potatoey disappointment too.
and like two days ago my sapphire cartridge glitched out and i lost 130 hours worth of game time and now the whole thing is corrupted and unplayable.
not to mention the general bs that made me upset to begin with and my relationship being not so perfect because i cant seem to stop getting spoken over and three of my friends hate my guts so ive been irritable anyway.
my streak of horrible luck has to end sometime right? kinda wanna die right now not going to lie. if anything else happens its gonna be the nail in the coffin here.
