(I might)
"No problem." Mason said before turning to look at the waves. He takes in the salty air and lets out a sigh of content. He loved being out on the open ocean.
Lani yawned as she waited to see what her captain have her do next. Honestly she felt like taking a nap but wanted to stay up a little longer. They had the princess and no doubt they would get a large ransom for it. It was only a matter of time.
Ezra Whitaker the Admiral of the King's Ranger was on his way to the pier. People moved out of his way not wanting to get in his way. He wanted to see if his ship was ready to set sail. His men had arrested and interrogated a pirate who spilled the beans about a smuggling operation going on one of the islands. (He is more or less temporary and going to leave it so anyone can rp him if needed)

Koddi had been having a perfectly fine day. Well, "fine" in certain senses. He wasn't dead, which was something the merperson was eternally grateful for. It was only that his life on land was never quite the happy perfection that he saw in the usual humans. He sighed, leaning against the wall of his post. If he was correct, it should only be a few more- "You're relieved of your post," the voice of another guard monotonously informed him, gnawing on some pastry. Koddi offered a timid smile, the vaguest of color flickering over his skin as he hurried off to change out of his uniform. In reality, he was more of an armed butler than any guard, and while those in the palace were always in need of something, Koddi didn't care right now. It had been at least a month since he had gotten the chance to go swimming. The royal court would prefer he never approached water, but it wasn't his fault his skin began to itch when away for too long! After an excited jog through town, down towards the docks- avoiding some strange happenings on the road there -Koddi paused at water. It wasn't a great idea to simply hop in, in full view of all the ships, so he hopped down to the rocky beach below the wooden planks. He took a deep breath. Anxiety of being discovered was always present, even when he knew he would be fine as soon as he was in the water. No way would a human ever be able to catch up, if he had to escape. Taking a few moments of solitude to... "hype" himself up, Koddi dove into the water.

Charles puffed out a breath, running over their past mission briefs. They hadn't gotten any word yet of anything specific, but as long as they were in port it was likely that someone would be sent to them. The Navy wasn't fond of letting them get complacent, considering their special orders. It wasn't like he was going to let Mitzi did whatever she wanted! But...sometimes he had to concede. "They'll probably let us know before we leave, so you can get your fancy clothes. The rest of the crew should be taking care of the supplies. Now about that...pub..."
Ambrose sat in the crows nest now, squinting against the wind of the sea and pruning his feathers idly. There wasn't always a lot to do up here, but considering they'd just pissed off an entire island he had to keep a pretty watchful eye out for other ships. Most of the ocean around them was clear at the moment, so he pointed his gaze down at the deck for something to kill the boredom. Spotting Mason and Becca, he made a bit of a face. Was it really wise to give a prisoner a grand tour. He watched them, flicking feathers over the side of the nest.

Alecto Fontaine was not one for leaving a book in the middle of a chapter, but at this moment in time she rather be doing something productive. She turned the page of her book and glanced up to see if anyone was doing anything she could help with. There was her usual annoyed expression on her face and she actually was annoyed, annoyed that she was bored with reading. The annoyance was aimed at herself which made her feel strange and slightly uncomfortable, causing her to close her book and slip it into the pocket on the inside of her jacket. At the sound of a yawn, Alecto glanced at the source and frowned at a girl she honestly forgot the name of. She suppressed yawning herself and wondered if there was anything to end this annoying boredom.

Appearing so laidback and apathetic, one would assume that Mitzi didn't even think about preparing for things. But she had learned long ago about the necessity for preparation, and personally moved to know that her crew would have everything it need to avoid unnecessary danger. And yes, sometimes having the right outfit meant conning your way out of death. Life was funny like that. Then again, watching an upright naval commodore get drunk was also very funny. "Yes, pub, fantastic idea, mon amie!" With a happy skip in her step, the pirate led the way to one of her favorite spots on the island. It was a smaller pub, something halfway between scum of the earth and decent enough for nobles to decide to have fun at.

Lani glanced over at Alecto and glances at her book. "What are you reading"? She asked feeling a little curious. Lani didn't know Alecto very well. All she knew is that Alecto would read and do other things that Lani considered boring.
Mason laughs a bit. "I am not one to leave a lady hanging."

Ceto slipped back into the water, making her way through the maze of timber that supported the massive docks. The water was dark and murky, civilization had not been kind to this harbor. A faint splash and a ripple through the water caught her attention and she changed direction, swimming slowly in the direction of the disturbance.

Charles made a face, following Mitzi with a begrudging expression. Being out at sea with this woman for months at a time wore on the soul, and they only had so much drink on the ship. At least here he didn't have to worry about being tossed overboard on accident or something. The place they stepped into wasn't....great, but it reminded him of the trouble he got into as a kid, always peering into the darkest corners of the island he could find. He only prayed that no one relevant would recognize him. "Wow what a place.."
Ambrose snorted down at the two, leaning over the edge of the crow's nest and cupping his hands around his mouth to shout down. "OY MASON, SHOULDN'T YOU BE WATCHING THE PRISONER?" he called down, hoping to rudely interrupt the moment. Sure, maybe it would be easier to sit back and just use this for blackmail later, but this was all just a little too irresponsible for his liking.

sorry if im slow btw im drawing something for a friend)
Alecto raised an eyebrow at the girl and looked her up and down. Having never really interacted with anyone, Alecto really was at a loss on how to address her since she forgot her name. She took out her book and held it out for the girl to see. The book looked well used and it was about a fairy and an elf in the woods. It was something Alecto had had for a long time and she often returned to it when she had cycled through the books she had. The raven haired woman remained silent and her usual annoyed expression remained on her face as she watched the girl.

Welp)) Vihaan sat quietly in a dingy pub at one of the ports. The Navy medic was sipping a strong drink and resting his head on one of his hands the other holding the glass of golden brandy, He sighed kicking his feet out like a little kid would do the chair he was sitting in being to tall for him. Just going to repost this since Charles and Mitzi are in the pub now.))

Mitzi sucked in a deep breath. "Ahh, you smell that Charlie? Blood, sweat, salt of the sea- and overwhelming aroma of musk." She shrugged, replying to a question which the commodore never asked, "No one ever said it was pleasant." Scanning over those in the room, she pointed towards a young female noble, who looked like she was talked into this experience by a very drunk friend. "You have fun doing whatever... navy thing you want to do." She gave him a slap on the back as she sauntered ahead, "You need to learn to loosen up, Charlie!"
If fish could sigh in relief, Koddi would do that. He scrubbed at his arms a bit as his body transformed. His skin flashed between various colors and patterns before settling on a pale, warm brown, with splotches of black and luminescent white. And, as opposed to the streamlined look of most merpeople, his tail had frilled fins, with an equally ribbon-esque fin continuing around the perimeter of his fishy form. Mmm, yes. He closed his eyes. So much more peaceful in the water, where he didn't have to constantly monitor his own emotions, whcih were constantly being affected by everyone else's! Humans were far more moody than fish were. Swimming further out, away from watchful eyes, he caught sight of another, very large form heading in his direction. Okay, perhaps he spoke too soon, maybe it wasn't so peaceful, so safe down here. Oh god, what if they attacked him? Koddi only knew how to protect himself on land!

Ceto slowed as a shape soon made itself apparent. Strangely enough, it wasn't thrashing about like a dying carp, so it probably wasn't some unfortunate human that had fallen in. Instead, as she drew closer, it become more and more apparent that this creature belonged down here just as much as she did and, as the details finally came into focus, she sped towards the merman with a flick of her tail, spines flicking out slightly in excitement. Ceto approached, swimming around him in greeting as she spoke, "Didn't 'spect to run across you here." The language was an old one that was unique to those who made their home under the sea. It had been a few months since she'd tried to speak it, but she managed better than she'd expected.

Koddi's tentacles, emerged from the edge of his hairline, of various lengths, seemed to tense and curl with his discomfort. His skin, in turn, began to rapidly flicker in a strange light show. He could practically hear his own hearts beating out of his flesh. As Ceto began to speak, Koddi's face knit together in absolute confusion. What was that? It sounded like weird gibberish. He had no idea what she was saying, but it didn't sound threatening, so... After watching this girl for a bit, he appeared to calm down some, the speed of his colors slowing to a mere pulsing of light and dark. He attempted to gesture with his hands that he wasn't dangerous, that he didn't know what she was trying to say.

Spines flaring slightly at the display, she couldn't help, but admit she had no idea what exactly he was. She'd never seen anyone like this before and the sudden flashes of color certainly threw her for a bit of a loop. After a few moments of silence, he began to gesture strangely and it only took her a second to realize that he didn't know what she was saying. Frowning in irritation, she let out a small huff, then gestured towards the surface. If they were going to speak a human language, it was far easier above water. Without waiting for his response, she turned herself around, heading towards the surface at an angle to put a little distance between them and the boats. As she swam, she tried to wrap her head around a merman being unable to speak the language. In her many travels, she couldn't recall a member of the merfolk that didn't have at least a passing knowledge of the language. Then again, most didn't have tentacles on their faces, so that might be a moot point. She broke the surface and waited impatiently, pushing strands of wet hair from her face.

Koddi let out a quiet, humming groan, still distrusting of this individual. Then again, if she had wanted to hurt him, he bet she'd already have tried something. Rising to the surface, he eagerly drank up the air. He didn't need it, but the life he lived, it only felt natural to crave it. The tentacles exposed, curled up into funny looking little horns. "Uh, hello?" He smiled sheepishly, unable to control the nervous laughter which escaped him. Oh, this was terrifying. Merpeople never came here, so why today of all days!
