The reason I say 'ish' is because the zombies/walkers are pretty much the same. Like the title says, just jump in. Here is the starter (I may or may not post this much every time, it depends on what I receive):
Now Mackenzie was no mathematician, but she was positive that this new world equals a living hell. Who could blame her for thinking so? Everyone describes it like a hell anyhow. This was not Earth, the United States, or Colorado. This was a new world. One that needed a completely different name as it was painful to use the same ones from the old world. Mackenzie didn't feel like spending her free time trying to come up with a name for this land that was overrun by the dead. Someone else could, but if they spent their free time doing that instead of more important things, they were as good as dead too.
If you thought about it, dead was a very flexible term. It's literal meaning isn't always used, depending on the context. Someone could have cold, dead eyes or even be 'dead inside'. However, the most popular usage of 'dead' seems to run with the large population of walkers. Walker was the term Mackenzie called those zombies. She simply decided that the name 'zombie' was a stupid one and changed it to what walkers do most: walk. Besides eat anyway. Her group now used the term too, due to the fact that they hear her say it and one by one, it spread like the disease that caused all of this mess.
"What the hell am I supposed to do now?" Mackenzie let out a long sigh, and tucked her chin length brown hair behind her ear. She was outside of a store in a city she found out was called, Pueblo West. It was a small burger joint actually. Mackenzie wasn't expecting freshly made burgers grilled over a barbecue or anything, but any sort of food was essential. She hadn't eaten in two days, which may not be a lot considering the average human can last three weeks without food, but that wasn't the point. Mackenzie was hungry, and between her and what could be her next meal, was a herd (yes, herd) of walkers pounding on the glass, attempting to get to her.
The glass could hold, she wasn't concerned about that. Mackenzie was more concerned about when her next meal is going to be. She had no way to contact her group, the one she got separated from, and when she did get separated it was during a run. People don't usually carry food with them on runs unless they are heading back with their finds. However, they were not heading back when the walkers struck and now Mackenzie only had a bag with three guns they carried for runs, ammunition, a knife, and a half empty canteen of water. She had no shelter or food in sight, but, Mackenzie was determined to find (or make) some somewhere as she looked for the others. There was no base camp which made things harder, because she would know where to go if they did. Her group traveled around to different areas, figuring it was best not to stay in one place.
Right now though, it didn't seem like the greatest idea for Mackenzie. She needed them to stay in one place to locate them, but since they haven't seen her in a few weeks they could assume she was as good as dead. Mackenzie wouldn't blame them, she would have done the same thing. However, she didn't feel like being taken for dead. She needed to be alive, and have her group know she was. Her family needed her now more than ever. Well, what was left of her family.
