Marielle’s heart was beating fast, more from fear than from running. She jumped at every little sound. Even though she thought this was a safe distance from the abandoned building, the police still could have followed them.
She took some deep breaths to clear those thoughts from her head. Yes, they could have been followed, and if any police officers showed up, she would be ready. She had to be ready. But for now, there was no one who was going to hurt her.
Marielle found herself a little surprised when she heard Antoine’s words. Were the French police starting to have an easier time finding the revolutionary hideouts? If so, that definitely wasn't good. She could've died in that raid; anyone could've died, really. She looked around, but of course there wasn't a perfect place for a base anywhere around her. After all, Marielle didn't even know what was really required for a base. Definitely somewhere the police wouldn't find them, but certainly there were other things necessary.
“Maybe we should…” Her voice trailed off because she didn't know how to finish the sentence. Maybe they should do what? Find the other revolutionaries? They could be anywhere. Everyone was scattered all around, so searching for the others might not work. “I don't know,” Marielle finished. She wanted to help as much as she could, but right now she didn't know how.

"I don't know either," Antoine admitted "I guess we just find somewhere out of the streets that we can go. I feel like we are too exposed out here, I don't know why. Just a feeling that we should keep moving, I guess?" He was looking around, trying to find anywhere safe but less exposed that they could go to. Anywhere where they could be safe and think things over for a while, that was what they needed. Yeah, something like that. His eyes went to a little side-street, somewhere where it looked quiet. He pointed it out and murmured "That looks like a good place for now. Nobody can shoot us if we're in there and we're hidden from view. That's the most important thing" At least he knew they wouldn't be skulking around like this forever. Barricades would be going up soon, the revolution would get into full swing. He'd be able to make real use of himself and make a real difference for the first time in his life. And who knew? Maybe he would be able to outgrow his past, and maybe he would become more than his upbringing. More than just a little rich kid and maybe an actual soldier? A revolutionary? A catalyst for change? Possible. All possible

( Sorry this took so long. I've been really busy lately. )
Marielle found that she was slightly relieved when Antoine said he didn't know what to do either. Knowing that he didn't know what to do in every situation made her feel less helpless, like there was less things that she had to learn.
When he said that they needed to find place that was less exposed and that they should keep moving, Marielle started to look around for somewhere to go. Somewhere where they wouldn't be noticed, either because they could hide in plain sight among other people or because it was small, quiet, and out of the way. This street, however, wasn't really either of those. The police were bound to come eventually, considering that this street wasn't all that far from the abandoned building.
She hadn't found anything yet when he pointed out the side street. She nodded, agreeing that it seemed like a good place. Not being able to be shot and hidden from view sounded perfect to Marielle.
The woman swallowed her fear and quickly walked to the side street as quietly as she could. Sure, she was terrified, but she was alive. That wasn't bad for her first time being in a base raided by the French police. Not bad at all. Marielle began to feel that spark of hope again, the feeling that maybe, just maybe, she could actually do this.
