( I guess the title would depend a lot on whether we want it to be sillier or more serious. something like 'back-up plan' might work, to shine a light on the fact that these people aren't the cool guys. or something like what Forgotten was saying. Second Rate X-Men honestly sounds like a title to me, if we want to take the more humourous route.
also, I'm going to disappear for an hour or so, I need to eat dinner and such, but I should be back relatively soon! )

I know I'm bias because I said it, but I think "Second Rate X-Men" gives a better idea of what the RP is if there's last minute joiners or whatever))

☃️IC:☃️ Kallisto pushed the door open to the coffee shop: The Powered Palace, hoping to see if they had any hot chocolate or if it was strictly coffee. She could use some sort of warm drink, it was basically freezing out there. Of course...people were giving her weird looks for the huge Caucasian mastiff that had followed her inside...What? No one had said this place didn't allow dogs.
She made her way to the front counter and quickly ordered a hot chocolate, paying upfront and it wasn't long before her's was ready and she started back to one of the empty tables in the back, trying to ignore the sound of a radio playing in the background. It was just the same stuff as usual...powered people kept going missing. This was a coffee shop specifically for those who had abilities, though her's were not very cool. She was one of those...Second rate powered people out there.
Luckily she wasn't alone as there were others. She was actually meeting up with one of them today, later...they had met a few times before and so far, Mavis seemed alright...though a bit on the grumpy side if anything else. Kallisto wasn't big on socializing, however she had figured it might be nice to talk with someone like her face to face.
Right then her attention was taken by some sort of commotion going on a few tables away, where a tall, brown haired man was struggling to get himself away from two, clearly angered, powered people, who each seemed to have either fire or ice encasing their hands.
"Heh, look fellas, I wasn't trying to steal your money...I promise," the man said, trying to get out of this situation, and right then one of them grabbed his arm.
"Oh yeah? Well then why don't you explain why you were invisible, holding my wallet, and trying to leave? Huh? If your stupid arm hadn't been showing itself like some sorta flag, I might not have caught you, thief," he spat and the man grumbled something about his useless arm.

John: John sat alone at the table closest to the door, just here to enjoy the atmosphere. He set down his coffee, smiling at the small orange newt perched on his right forearm arm. Its yellowish eyes stared back at him, unblinking, but the fact that it had no eyelids was probably to blame for that. John seemed to be having a staring contest with the newt, his own blue eyes narrowed, staring intently at the creature with a grin on his face. The man wore soft, red brown leather gloves, holding the newt on his arm, much like the kind a falconer would.
The coffee shop was kind of empty at the moment; from what little he knew, powered people had been disappearing. Maybe they were all off using their powers to save the world. John had no idea what powered people did with their time, nor why they would disappear. While he was one of them, at the same time he, well, wasn't one of them. He didn't have any real problems with his power; he considered himself blessed to even have one, even if it was something silly. He hadn't even known he had one for a while, and it had taken some getting used to. He'd grown into his appreciation for newts and salamanders alike.
The man lifted his head in surprise as voices were raised, ignoring the newt (who, despite it's... newtly appearance, seemed rather triumphant about winning the starting contest). There were a few folks in the back arguing about some nonsense. As per usual, he supposed.
Sam: Sam sat on top of the jukebox, legs criss-cross and her arms folded. She stared tiredly out the window, sketching the scene out there. Her notebook was filled with drawings of some half finished drawings of random powered people, but it had gotten boring drawing them after a while. She instead drew the streetlamp, carefully shading the shadows that fell onto the pavement.
Jumping at the sudden shouting, she dropped her pencil. It rolled across the floor and came to a stop by the door. She blinked, her eyes switching from gold to grey as she glanced down at the lost pencil, feeling too lazy to get down from her spot and pick it back up. It was as good as gone. Sighing, the young woman redirected her attention towards the back, as many others in the room had. There was always some sort of drama here, and the fights were almost always worth seeing.

IC :: "Pathetic." The blonde male spoke out lightly upon looking at the commotion before turning his head back to his coffee and taking another sip. "To resort to stealing a stranger's money at least," He shook his head before looking to the black haired boy sitting across from him, eating a slice of toast. "As is making yourself toast at a coffee shop."
The boy shrugged before gulping down the bite. "It's tasty and I might as well use the ability I have Matthias. I just wish it came with butter naturally. Then I wouldn't have to ask for any." All Matthias could do was roll his eyes at Nicholas.

Levi basically lived in coffee shops. He wasn't exactly powerful; sure levitation was pretty cool but when it involved going strictly up and then hoping for the wind to blow in the right direction - and forcefully enough to push him - it wasn't exactly useful. So no, he wasn't powerful. But, if he asked for his cup to be filled to the brim, he had infinite refills.
He wasn't sure if that constituted stealing, but he'd decided a while ago that it didn't. It wasn't as if somebody was serving it to him, so nobody needed to be paid for a service, and it didn't diminish stocks so he didn't need to pay anyone back. Still, he always made sure to leave a large tip for the time he spent in the place.
The crowd in this particular coffee shop, The Powered Palace, used to be massive. If anyone knew that it was Levi. But over the last few months, things had slowed down as the people with more impressive powers disappeared, seemingly without a trace. He wasn't sure where they went, but for once he was glad his own were so unimpressive.
The commotion at a nearby table caught his eye. It seemed that another like him, one with powers that didn't work as they should (if he were to go by the arm that didn't turn invisible), had been caught in the act of theft. Or, something that resembled it at least, if you wanted to trust the thief. He watched from afar, frowning.
Opposite him, Harper shook her head. "Stupid to attempt it if you knew it wouldn't work," she commented, but quickly moved on, returning to the paper in her hand.

☃️OOC:☃️ Text
☃️IC:☃️ As one of them geared up to punch the guy, he let out a small yell and turned most of himself invisible...minus the arm that one of them still had, which was obviously not at all hidden. "Not the face!" He said and right then something soft and fluffy whacked the guy, which took him by surprise and made him look over to see a blue haired girl enter the coffee shop.
"Leave him alone," she said as she entered and the soft fluff she had made, started back over to her. "Why does everyone always want to fight anyways? Look, he didn't steal any money, can't you just let him go?" She questioned, folding her arms, as the guy made himself visible once again to match his left arm...saved by a girl with fluff power, add that to the résumé of embarrassing things to happen to him.
The man scoffed but let go of his arm. "Be glad fluffy here was here to save you," he warned before he and his friend took their leave.
Kallisto sort of just watched as everything soon fell into a sort of awkward silence. Well...she was honestly hoping for a bit more of a fight.

Levi watched the fight, if you could even call it that, intruigued by it all. Harper, however, couldn't seem any less interested. He knew that she was probably busy realising all the things that could have happened if 'fluffy' hadn't intercepted, so he didn't prod her for conversation.
"So," he piped up from his corner. "Do you go around whacking people with fluff often or was this just a one-time thing?" He was simply curious, and his tone held no malice. Truthfully, Levi was always excited to meet someone else with powers that weren't the conventional useful or even cool ones.
"Don't chastise the poor girl, Levi," Harper said, not looking up from her paper still.
"I wasn't," Levi protested. "I just wanted to know."

IC :: "Now, that was anti-climatic." Matthias said with a sigh as her turned his head to what had just happened. Picking up his cup he took a sip as he watched what was going to happen next. Cause anything very well could happen here. No matter how idiotic it was. He gave a bored sigh. "Do you think blue actually suits her?"
"Don't even think about it Matthias." Nicholas warned before Matthias shook his head with a false laugh.
The blonde looked to the black-haired boy. "ki wouldn't, despite the absolute sheer fun it would be to do so. The reactions of people who do get makeovers from me are always surprised it's hard not to laugh at it. I won't though, for now."

☃️IC:☃️ Jeanie looked over at the guy who had spoken and sort of just shrugged. "I just like to help people who need it, that clearly wasn't a fair fight," she explained and the man next to her huffed.
"I could have taken them, I was just...letting them fall into a false sense of security," he explained the best he could however Jeanie only looked over at him with an unbelieving look, which he couldn't really keep rejecting considering he definitely didn't have that fight in the bag.
Now looking around, it was clear there weren't many other people left, and from the guy eating toast to the other with the newt, then the girl in the back with the dog...it was sort of an odd group of people left. It just wasn't near as crowded as it usually seemed to be here.

Sam: Now she'd seen everything. Sam held back a giggle as she watched a ball of fluff tumble forward to smack one of the men in the side, making him release the other man's only visible limb. She hadn't really expected throwing fluff to be a particularly effective fighting talent, but it seemed to do the trick well enough. The fight ended just as quickly as it had started, and she found herself wishing that something would happen. She smiled around the room, setting her notebook down, trying to guess people's powers. Some people looked rather silly, and some she actually had no clue.
She had to remind herself not to laugh at them, for she was not much better off. It seemed it wasn't just her thar was stuck with maybe some less than satisfactory abilities. It felt like her power was... half complete, maybe. Oh, she could have at least been able to blend into neon pink things, too, right? That was slightly more useful, because that stuff was everywhere. Ugly, but everywhere.
"Impressive," she called jokingly to the girl. "I never thought I'd see fluff scare away anyone."
John: John didn't know how to react to seeing a fluff ball take down a man like that. It wasn't the sort of thing one expected to see in the Powered Palace, that was for sure. The man slipped his newt into his leather jacket pocket, whispering an apology to it, not looking down.
These people seemed more friendly than the usual powered folks. No, friendly was the wrong word. More like him, maybe. Less actually 'powerful'. He frowned, considering inviting them over to his table. The newt peeked its head out of his pocket, staring up at him expectantly. "What are you looking at?" he muttered, giving it a sideways glance as he finished the last sip of his coffee.

Harper drained her cup and held it out for him. With a sigh, Levi took it in his hands, and soon it was full again. "You're lucky you can get me as much tea as I want," Harper told him. "Otherwise I'm leave you in the dirt."
Levi ignored her, smiling over at the girl with the fluff instead. "So, you two have half-decent powers as well, then?" he questioned. His eyes glimmered hopefully, as though he was waiting to hear good news. He almost was.
He asked a lot of questions, this Levi man, Tari thought to herself from where she sat by the door. She would never think to question a stranger like that. She huffed, tracing circles on the table. She didn't say anything though, just listened intently to the conversation that had sparked.

IC :: Nicholas looked at him placing his toast down with a small frown. "Good. You know it's impolite of you to do that, plus. Because of you my hair is no longer the jetblack it was, and now a kind of black tinged with red. Thanks."
"You forgot to mention your eyes are now a much prettier shade of blue." Matthias pointed out setting down his coffee. The blonde was grinning at Nicholas who had resorted to curling up slightly with a glare. His only response was, "I liked my eyes before."

☃️IC:☃️ Jeanie glanced first over at the girl and gave a half smile. "Thanks, I like to think even powers like mine can me useful," she explained before looking over at the boy who had spoken before. "Well, I guess. I wouldn't exactly consider fluff, sugar, and bubbles to be a first rate power...or powers, but I make the best of it," she explained with a grin. "I'm Jeanie, by the way," she introduced herself to no one exactly in particular.
Kazimer frowned slightly. "At least you have more than one power, all I can do is turn invisible...except for my left arm, I don't know what that's about," he stated grumpily, looking everyone that was left over. "So what, basically everyone here has useless powers? Wow, we should start a club," he offered sarcastically, vaguely caring enough to look everyone else over.
At that a man standing in the corner spoke up. "Well, maybe you guys gave useless powers but I can see into the future, and that is useful!" He piped in from where he was.

IC :: Matthias scoffed looking towards the kid who almost got beat up stealing money. He was obviously about to say something about that, before Nicholas interrupted him. "Don't, and to be fair you powers are rather useless. As are mine. And probably a lot of other people here, so don't even."
"It isn't very polite of him to say that- neither is it of the man over there bragging how he has a useful power." The blonde said aloud crossing his arms.

"Is it?" Harper questioned doubtfully. She'd always wished that she had that ability instead of being able to predict outcomes when it was too late to change anything. "I can see what might have happened in the past, if things had gone differently," she explained quickly, not wanting to seem rude by failing to exchange his information for some of her own. "Kind of pointless then, isn't it?"
Tari watched in silence still. It seemed she was not the only one with strange powers, then. She'd always known there were others, of course, but she kept to herself so much that she'd never actually interacted with one. At least not that she knew.

Sorry for the small poof! I’m gonna have so much trouble keeping track of all of these characters lmao))
John: John listened quietly, pressing his finger lightly down on his newt’s head to hide it back in the depths of his pocket. He noted the two powers with interest, though he’d already for the most part figured them out, and he didn’t even have to be a particularly observant individual to do so. He opened his mouth to speak, but thought better of it. He stayed in his seat, not saying a word. He didn’t want to question anyone, for fear of having to trade his own answers.
“People are weird,” he murmured to the newt, not looking at it. It was better if that little detail stayed hidden for at least a little while.
Sam: “Preach sister!” Sam shot Jeanie a wide smile. Her expression slowly melted into a thoughtful frown as the others began to talk. She listened carefully, making mental notes to remember names and powers. It was difficult already, what with how many people were here. The young woman ran her fingers through her short black hair absentmindedly, her grey eyes flickering to green at the mention of future predicting. Now that was useful, and for it she was incredibly jealous.
What wouldn’t she give for a cool power? There wasn’t a single thing hers was good for, other than freaking people out, and it only worked once. If this was as good as it was gonna get, she might as well have not had a power at all. It was as useful as a slap to the face, and even that would have smacked some sense into her.
