There is nothing worse than author bias when it comes to books, whether it's a bestseller or a fanfic. I'm writing for about 8 months now, and heck, I've probably done it too back in april. And I'm sure that a lot of us did it too, probably without knowing it, back when we were starting with writing - hey, some of us probably do it to this day.
But a bestseller to have author bias? Don't you think that author of a bestseller should know better?
Well clearly not because then I wouldn't be making this thread.
Here are some obvious signs of author bias:
Cinderpelt's reincarnatiom is probably the worst one. It was confusing as heck, not to mention contradicting. At the end it looks like Cinderpelt was just possesing Cinderheart, which I find very creepy. Then, the destiny part. You cannot change someone's destiny. Destiny is what happens, destiny is every typo you make, every step you take. Even if you will eventually stop walking, it was still meant to happen. Same with warriors. Sure, you can twist someone's destiny in a weird way, but it was still meant to happen. And what about all the kits that died from sickness or weakness that never even got to see the world or live a day? Don't they deserve another life too?
CinderXLion and FireXSand are another good examples. One of the erins said that they dislike happy couples. You mean couples like SandXFire or CinderXLion right? That spent most of their times together and were/are happy couples, right? Did I mention they were also main characters?
Then we have Ashfur and Mapleshade. They did basically the same thing, didn't they? They killed (or tried to) because they felt betrayed and their actions felt justified. And guess what? One goes to StarClan while the other one rots in dark forest.
Also, Thistleclaw and Hawkheart.I really dislike both of them, but about their residences? They are both basically the same, equally bloodthisrty and have the urge to kill. Thistleclaw almost killed, while Hawkheart actually killed. The most itonic part is that Hawkheart went to StarClan and Thistleclaw to Dark forest, which is completely against the Ashfur-Mapleshade logic.
I think there are more examples, but nothing comes to my mind at the moment, so that's all I have. Opinions?

I completely agree with this and why I dislike the series at times. The author bias is so blatant that it interferes with good writing, liking sending Ashfur to StarClan for no reason other than Vicky pitied him.
Also, it was Vicky who said she didn't like happy couples.
As for Hawkheart, I don't care much for him, but at least he only killed once and it was in the heat of battle as well, but is shown to be a decent cat in every other book he's appeared him except for maybe GC and even then the novella itself questionable in its information, whereas Thistleclaw was unpleasant pretty much up to his death. Not saying what Hawkheart did was right by any means, but I don't think he necessarily deserves the Dark Forest either.
