“Oh...” Brownleaf felt a twinge of sadness as he thought of Nettlefrost. She didn’t deserve to die like that...
He pressed close Meadowbrook as she nuzzled him, his body relaxing as he took deep breathes to try to rid the smoke from it.

Heathersky nodded her thanks before curling close around her kits, watching them. She sighed and moved to get some rest, completely exchusted.
Ashenkit pushed close to Heathersky, wanting her warmth and milk.

"So brave...You got Alderfur." Meadowbrook praised, her voice reaching up towards Brownleaf's ears as she sighed softly. "I only hope that Nettlefrost will forgive me, for not arriving in time...I knew you would find him. You always pull through."

Stormfury stood and dipped his head to his siblings. "Speaking of Eclipsesky, I want to talk to him." He said, "Why don't you all get some rest." With that, he padded towards the medicine cat, excitement to see his friend pushing the grief a little bit deeper.
Fireblaze nodded at her brother. "I know Goldheart...you're all I have too." It wasn't fair. Swallowfeather and Cloudscar's first litter seemed so close...they had been warriors by the time she and her brother were born....they were closer with Cloudscar, closer with Swallowfeather....closer to eachother.

Eclipsesky tensed as the familiar scent of Stormfury got closer, he turned staring at the other tom with a neutral expression. "Hello Stormfury." he murmured.
Goldheart grumbled under his breath as he tried to collect his thoughts. "It really isnt fair that Stormfury got away with living with Cloudscar... even if I don't believe he attacked Meadowbrook."

Stormfury purred as he gazed warmly at Eclipsesky. "I'm so thankful you got out alright." He said. "I would've never forgiven myself if I had gotten here too late and something had happened to you or...." he stopped as he was about to mention his family. He had been too late to save Swallowfeather.
Fireblaze shook her head. "He gets to go back to ShadowClan and stay with Cloudscar....while we're here alone." She leaned against her brother, thankful that he was finally starting to listen.

Eclipsesky flattened his ears at Stormfury's words "What's wrong?" he glanced back over where the tom had come from, counting his siblings. He gasped as he realized he had not seen Swallowfeather arrive at the camp. "Swallowfeather.. is she?"
Goldheart sighed "We get to see him once a moon at the gatherings and now he can't even acknowledge us as deputy! I can't believe our father is deputy and we can't even talk about it." he growled, turning to look at Fireblaze "Swallowfeather loved us, but Cloudscar I feel like sometimes doesn't even act like we exist."

He was too happy to see his friend "Now Swiftstar has invited the ShadowClan patrol to stay here until the fire dies out...however long that is."
Fireblaze nodded. "Cloudscar and Stormfury get everything they've ever wanted....and they just leave us behind to pick up the pieces."

And with two of your clanmates as well.” The small tom was trying to restrain the mixed emotions that were flying through his head. He couldn’t get too excited that Stormfury was here. He wasn’t here to stay. Goldheart scoffed as he looked over at Sagefoot and her kits “Did you hear Larkkit earlier? She wailed when Stormfury got close. At least our kin know who we are.” |

Stormfury nodded. "It is weird." he said, glancing around at his former clan. "But, so far no one has come for my pelt, so I think it'll be okay." He turned back to Eclipsesky "Besides, I think Swiftstar might actually be alright with me staying here." He lowered his voice at the last sentence, not wanting to jinx his good luck.
Fireblaze rolled her eyes. "He's like ten times bigger than everyone else in camp, no wonder she was scared." She looked empathetically over at Larkkit. "Poor thing. It's not her fault she doesn't know who he is."

Eclipsesky's whiskers twitched at the tom's words "Don't say things like that Stormfury... you know you're not going to stay." he mewed somewhat bitterly. "You're a Shadowclan cat now."
Goldheart nodded before his gaze moved over to where Stormfury and Eclipsesky was. "Now he's trying to make amends with Eclipsesky." he murmured, narrowing his eyes. "Don't you think Eclipsesky has suffered enough Stormfury? You already abandoned him once, and you're going to do it again."

Rookpaw moved to assist her brothers, her muzzle clamped shut as usual. She was not one to speak much, though the sharpness in her eyes showed her focus and anger at what the fire had taken from her clan. Cobblepaw was more vocal, turning to look at Gustpaw and Silverpaw.
"Do you think we'll be here for a long time? I've never seen the Highstones camp before! It's huge!"

Gustpaw was looking around in awe, having never been to the temporary camp before. He didn't even know it existed! "I don't know, but it's exciting!" He hoped there was time to run around, though - he didn't want to miss out on any training.
Silverpaw was more calm than his brother. "I know this place was used when AdderClan was around," he spoke, flicking an ear. He was glad that was not the case anymore, that the only thing they had to worry about was the fire.

"Oh, from the stories?" Cobblepaw looked at Silverpaw with wide and curious eyes. The mottled tom pushed another clump of gorse and moss into place, questioning his brother.
"Apparently this was also where Stonepath and Grasslight were born too! They're so much older, it must have been a long time ago." He decided.
Rookpaw watched Gustpaw quietly, finally speaking out as she mumbled. "Don't mess up the nests..."

Silverpaw nodded. "Apparently, WindClan and ShadowClan lived here together to fight against RiverClan and SkyClan." He couldn't imagine how strange it must have been. He would be open to making friends with other apprentices, he supposed. "It must have been..."
Gustpaw stopped where he was, surprised to hear his sister's voice. "Oh, right. Sorry, Rookpaw." He made sure to be slower in his movements, closer to Cobblepaw's pace.

"That's incredible. Windclan and ShadowClan, living and working together?" Cobblepaw exclaimed, his eyes wide with surprise. "I heard mother and father fought in the battle."
Rookpaw nodded, moving to assist Gustpaw as he worked.

"It's true," Silverpaw nodded. "I think they did... they were very brave." he mewed, glad they managed to survive. He had no idea how horrible the final fight had been, and he hoped the Clans never had to fight such a battle again. "I heard so many cats were hurt, but they won in the end by working together."
Gustpaw got a hold of more moss for the apprentices to use, making sure to not damage it. "I wonder if our mentors will take us out once this is over."

“Surely they’ll have to! We’re basically the first line now, they’ll have us hunting non-stop, I bet.”

Guess she was stuck like this a while. Ravenkit's eyes were still closed, but the little tomkit seemed to bat towards his mother, squirming around. His fur began to spike up, dark and wispy. He nudged against Ashenkit, squeaking his curiosity at what he felt at his side. |

Stormfury's ears flattened slightly at the medicine cat's words. "I know that, but forgive me if I was excited to be able to spend time with you again." The words proabably came out harsher than he meant them to, but between the fire here and in ShadowClan, the loss of Swallowfeather, and Fireblaze's outburst, Stormfury's temper was shorter than normal.
Fireblaze shook her head. "Hopefully this fire dies out soon so he can just get out of here. WindClan isn't safe with him around"

Goldheart looked at his sister, almost nervously, "I know Thistlestalk said the fire was from the twolegs but what if Starclan sent it as a punishment.. what if this was mother's punishment for breaking the code?"

I'm sorry that I left you alone here in the clan you grew up in. I'm sorry that my being here now is an inconvenience to you, I promise it won't be a problem in the future." Hurt, the tom flicked his tail and padded away, looking for Thistlestalk and Poppyflame. Fireblaze looked up at the sky. "I find it hard to believe our mother was the only one in all the clans that broke the code." she said "But why wouldn't StarClan warn us? It sounds like every clan will be in danger" |

Eclipsesky winced at the tom's words, "W-wait Stormfury." he mewed, chasing after the much larger tom. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. You're mother just died and I'm being a stubborn, stupid furball. I know you didn't leave because you wanted to. I just wish you could come back, and seeing you happy in Shadowclan is a reminder that you never will. Silverspirit has been a great friend to me while you've been gone, we've healed together. But, she can never replace you in my life. I'm sorry for being harsh, I just have so many emotions seeing you back here. My instincts told me to put my guard up in order not to get hurt again, but I hurt you in the process and that's the last thing I ever wanted to do..." he mewed quietly.
Goldheart shook his head "I didn't mean it was a punishment for her alone, but who knows how many cats have broken the code. Our mother isn't the only cat who died.."

Stormfury avoided the medicine cat's gaze. "I'm glad Silverspirit has been there for you." he muttered, feeling conflicted. It wouldn't feel honest to say he wished he was back in WindClan, but he did miss his family and friend. It had surprised him how quickly Shadowclan truly felt like home...in a way WindClan never would. Maybe Eclipsesky was right..his return, now that the clan was safe, was nothing but a distraction. "It's alright." he said, realizing he had fallen silent for probably too long. "I'm sorry I hurt you." He murmured, dipping his head to the medicine cat and continuing on.
Fireblaze nodded. "Maybe...." she still wasn't convinced that Stormfury hadn't killed their mother, but there were other cats who had died. "I wonder how badly the other clans were affected." she said, looking back at her brother.
