- - ThunderheartThunderheart yowled and whirled around to swipe at the apprentice, but she was already gone. He turned back to face her, and it began to dawn on him that his rank meant nothing--he was powerless in the face of everyone's anger. He flattened his ears and raised his hackles, but this time it was more out of fear than rage. "If the traitor comes forward, then nothing more has to happen!" he said. "Do you know what would happen if this continues? When a dynasty falls, there isn't peace! There's moons, even seasons of chaos while everyone struggles to figure out who the new leader is, and the new leader tries to figure out how to rule! If you all could have just waited Stoneheart's rule out! He's old! Now he might be dead, and Dewfern is terrified and too young to take his place by herself! Whoever did this, did this out of greed and nothing else! And I will punish them for it!" - - StoneheartStoneheart lay still on the ground, but still breathing faintly. He muttered weakly under his breath. "Dewfern . . ." he rasped, thinking she was the one who had been healing him. "I'm sorry." 'You sound like a mewling kit who has missed her dinner!' Fox yowled back, spitting at him and baring her fangs. 'You have created this situation, YOU have wrought this tension upon us, and YOU are the one who has made this out to be even worse than what it already was!!!' She hissed loudly, taking note that the Royal was scared. good. she found herself thinking, surprised at her own reaction. She took a few steps forward, finding aggressive strength in her anger and at his fear, a huge aura of confidence about her. 'By punishing us all you have dropped yourself into a nest of your own suffering.' She growled, glaring at him through her emerald green eyes. 'You've turned us against you. What will you do when those rats eat our newly born kits, tear apart expecting mothers, kill your apprentices and wreck this garden?' She hissed, her tail lashing. 'Then you will have no castle nor cats to rule over. Your family will be the Rulers of Nothing!'

- Pinestep -
Pinestep felt as if he had been ignored. Kinda hurt actually. "It was the lizard people! THE LIZARD PEOPLE!" He yelled from the back of the crowd.
- Red -
Red flicked his ear. If no one confessed... He took a deep breath, shaking. He wasn't sure what he could do. What could he? What could anyone? Well.. there was one thing. But... He closed his eyes, summoning enough courage... He let out a breath and stepped forward. "U-uum.. S-sir?"

(Man, Fox. 0.o) - - Dewfern"Are you sure?" Dewfern looked down at her formerly strong father. He had been getting better. She hated it, but him showing his stubbornness was good in a way. It showed that the old Stoneheart was still in there. She tried to clean up a little of the vomit with some dry moss, recoiling at the disgusting feeling. When she heard him apologize she looked down at her paws. "It's okay," she mewed quietly while she held the moss in her paws. 'He's definitely getting better.' Duskstorm replied, finding relief both in the Kings improving state, and in the fact that he'd apologised to Dewfern. He wasn't sure why he felt so protective of the she-cat, but it made him feel better. 'Are you alright now, Dewfern?' He gently asked, taking over the task of cleaning Stoneheart's mouth and pelt.

Morningstorm stared in confusion as everything went haywire. How could any of the cats take Thunderheart serious when he was having a hissy fit.She lost her faith in her castle mates once Pinestep made the comment on lizard people."Have some common sense Pinestep" she hissed ashamed of the priest erratic behavior. Clearly this was a time to be serious as everyone was furious with the royal. The she-cat was surprised to see the younger cats standing up to the older cat.

- - Thunderheart
Thunderheart seemed to shrink a little. He remembered all of the times he had advised Stoneheart to think things through before acting out of anger--where had that common sense gone? I was so scared when I saw him. I thought I was going to lose him. I didn't think. Now I've damaged all the trust we had left with the rest of the castle. He lowered his tail slightly. "I . . ." he stopped when he saw Red approaching him. He looked at the young tom, silent as he waited for him to speak.
- - Stoneheart
Stoneheart exhaled shakily. He muttered something else, about Thunderheart, something along the lines of "don't let him" but he didn't finish. He closed his eyes and tried to rest.
- - Sandstripe
Sandstripe watched Red come forward, her eyes wide. Oh no . . . not this. I didn't mean for a child to get involved in this. Still, she said nothing.

- - Lighttail
As Lighttail watched the little apprentice step forward, she felt herself panic. Is this child about to claim he tried to kill the king? This can't go on. Cats are about to be killed, and this brave little apprentice... She felt herself run forward to Red. "Don't!" she cried out, trying to stop him before he continued. She took in a deep breath. This had to be convincing. "I- I did it. I slipped the herbs into the bundle." Her knees were shaking as she stood beside the apprentice. Fox-dung. You don't even know if that's what he was going to say. Maybe he was going to say: Hey don't! The herbalist scolded herself for a moment while she tried to think of a motive.
(I'll get Dewfern in a second.)

Fox looked over to Red and her fur slowly settled. She trotted over to her friend, flustered and out of breath from her spat with Thunderheart, and stood beside him, eager to hear what he had to say.
Her eyes then widened as she looked at Lighttail, unable to believe what the herbalist had just admitted to- or had she? It didn't make sense. And Red had been about to say something too- but Red had been with them all night! Confused, Fox sat and began to lick her chest fur.

- Pinestep -
Pinestep head a comment about common sense and flattened his ears. He was about to say something more when he decided to instead close his mouth. It seemed that no one else was willing to believe the lizard people theory. Well, he could understand that, and maybe there weren't any lizard people involved in this.. But there might be lizard people somewhere out there. They were living a lie. Maybe. And besides, he was a priest. He was supposed to look wise. He probably shouldn't go off screaming about lizard people. They would think he's crazy. Although, outsiders was still a possibility.
He watched the scene in front of him with frustration. Did no one have any sense? Well, he did get a little carried away with theories but at least he wasn't threatening to let a bunch of killer animals into the castle.
- Red -
His head snapped upwards. What? Lighttail? Red seemed to shrink. Had Lighttail really done anything? Or was it just a lie? At least Fox had calmed down.. Red was lost, unsure what was going to happen and what he should do. He stared at his paws, trying to force himself to remain calm, silent.

- - Dewfern
Dewfern sighed a breath of relief, grabbing a ball of dry moss and placing it under Stoneheart's head when she saw him start to doze off. Her legs stopped shaking a little, but she still felt faint from worry. Closing her eyes momentarily, she turned to Duskstorm and reopened them. "I suppose. Still a little scrambled, but..," she trailed off. "He needs to get some rest. Come on." She flicked her tail for the tom to follow as she left the room.

Littlespring who had been watching the while takes a few steps back. She smirked and couldn't help but chuckle which turned into a laugh. She didn't know why she was laughing but it felt good. Seems Stoneheart's rule was finally coming to a end. She races off to go tell Thornshade.
(If I may can Littlespring spread a rumor that Maple tried to kill the king and that Thunderheart has gone mad? XD)

'I'm staying with you until all of this has blown over.' Duskstorm found himself saying with a fierce defensiveness in his tone. 'I'm not leaving you alone with your uncle and I want to ensure Stoneheart is alright when he wakes; it seems you two will not be trusting the herbalists for a while.' All of his arguments to stay with her were logical and valid. 'And I can't hunt yet, my legs are still hurting, so I might as well make myself useful here.'

- - Dewfern
"That's fine, but my uncle isn't crazy or anything. My dad just almost died. I can understand him being a little brash," Dewfern explained, only half-believing herself. She knew her uncle was quite upset, but he wasn't a bad guy. "Once he's conscious again, he might get upset. Thunderheart might be okay, but I've never known him to go against Stoneheart's wishes. Be careful about being here, I mean." She shook her head. "Thank you for helping my father."

'It was the right thing to do.' He quietly said, shuffling his paws and quietly licking his chest fur. He really didn't want to leave her alone with the two large toms, especially after this incident- he was suddenly, terribly afraid that they would crack down on the guard and keep her locked up even tighter within the walls. He glanced at her worriedly, feeling pain at the fact that he might not see her again after this. He couldn't let that happen.

"Lighttail?" Maplefall gasped, padding forward. "But that's impossible! We don't--" she whirled around and sought out Sandstripe. "Sandstripe, you're the only herbalist who knows where the poisonous herbs are kept! You've never let us know where they are. You're the only cat possible to poison the king. You have to confess, or else this castle will be overcome by rats!" --- Sunpetal sighed and leaned her head against Hailstrike.
"I know she didn't do it. But she might as well have if she keeps this up." She watched as Maplefall began speaking again, desperately hoping she wouldn't mess it up even more than it was, and swept her tail over the ground. --- Oak's eyes widened as Fox leaped onto Thunderheart. He raced forward hoping to somehow pull her off--attacking Thunderheart was certainly what he wanted to do, but it could have serious consequences--but she'd already retreated to face the other cat head-on. He instead stood st her side, bouncing slightly on his paws, ready to move if attacked. --- Petalheart watched the proceedings in the garden, feeling her faith in the royal family drop and drop with each word that came out of Thunderheart's mouth. She slid up so she was more at the front of the action, not touching or bothering anyone else, and had to hold back a purr to herself when Fox leaped on the older cat. Good apprentice, that one, she thought.

Littlespring comes across Rowantooth and races up to him. "Guess what I heard? Stoneheart has been poisoned! Someone finally did something! Thunderheart was so furious that he started yelling at the herblists"
Rowantooth blinked in surprise. He hadn't expected something to happen to the king this early. He had predicated something would happen in a moon or so. Sandstripe you slippery toad. He thought gaining a new found respect for her. "Hes not dead though. Maybe this will be his wake up call."
Littlespring flicked her tail back and forth and leaned in close. "In all honestly someone ought to end him now! Think about it, this is the perfect opportunity to reunite him with his precious queen"! Littlespring wasn't sure what had gotten into her but she felt excited. Things were finally changing.

Flint's eyes were drawn immediately to Red as she saw his reaction to Lightningtail's announcement. He seemed shocked almost as though he disagreed with the judgement but Flint didn't know how he could know anything. His face was conflicted though and Flint couldn't work out why but she hid her questions but instead stood as tall as she could besides the other three apprentices trying to portray a united side. She didn't know what to think Thunderheart had threatened to kill the entire clan but someone had tried to kill Stoneheart and that was treason on the highest level and how could the clan trust someone who would even consider that. Flint didn't know what to think though she was so confused nothing made sense.

((all right I've got my Bowl Of Pasta and I'm once again ready to guide my characters into making questionable decisions))
- - Sandstripe
Sandstripe looked at Maplefall, startled, then calmly flicked her ear. "I don't know what you're talking about," she said. "Perhaps Lighttail discovered it and kept it a secret from you. Besides, does it really matter who did it? Thunderheart can't remove those stones by himself, so he'd need the support of at least some of the castle to carry out his mouse-brained rat plan anyway. Does he look like someone who has anyone's support at this point?"
- - Thunderheart
Thunderheart stared at Lighttail. There was something about her confession that made it hard to believe--she looked nervous, but it didn't seem to be guilt. She looked more afraid of him. He narrowed his eyes and slowly lowered his tail. "Is what you are saying true?" he asked. "Because the consequences to attempting to murder the king are severe."

'It's not true, it's not true!' Fox yelped, looking terrified. 'Lighttail you'd never do such a thing! Thunderheart, Duskstorm was in the garden last night, maybe he saw something!' Fox tail mewled in a panic, not wanting the herbalist to frame herself.
