I recently read Hawkwing's Journey, the new super edition. (If you haven't read it, I suggest that you click on something else, because there are going to be spoilers.) I could go over all the details about it but I just want to talk about Hawkwing and his mate. His relationship with Pebbleshine starts with them both as apprentices, Hawkpaw sees Pebblepaw. Hawkpaw sees Pebblepaw as a annoying little brat. As he matures, this annoyance dissolves and then, as he gets older, confusion. Hawkpaw doesn't know what he even thinks of Pebblepaw and is utterly confused by the feeling. This makes it more realistic compared to couples that fall in love at first sight like Firestar and Spottedleaf. The Erins did a wonderful job of developing this couple through such different emotions, annoyance, confusion and finally love.

What are your thoughts?

I liked the pairing too. I adore love/hate relationships lol. I don't know why, but they're always my favorite for whatever reason. I'm still super sad that it's most likely certain Pebbleshine is gone though :c
