Softshadow sighed, the dark warrior studying the medicine cats den with darkened eyes. "Well... it's Bearpaw, he got injured in a fox attack," she explained quietly, remembering when she trained with the energetic apprentice. He would have made a fantastic warrior- he was a strong hunter and was a decent enough fighter when it came down to it. She glanced at Bramblepaw, worried on how the apprentice would take the news. --- Runningstream let out a soft, sympathetic noise, feeling the same that Ashenclaw was feeling. "I hope she will be alright," she murmured, turning in slightly to keep the conversation to the two of them. --- Furzetail looked away, heart breaking for the she cat. He had no idea what it was like, training an apprentice, but he was well aware of how close the two had been. The medicine cat pressed himself against the pale warrior in an attempts to comfort her. He studied the frail apprentice, heart breaking as the toms pelt stilled. He paused, staring at the apprentice, realizing that he had finally passed on. "Palestream.." he began softly, voice gentle as if he where talking to a kit. --- Bearpaw stirred, hearing a soft voice call his name. The dark tom lifted his head, not quite noticing that he wasn't in his own body, staring at the strange she cat. His hackles raised slightly, feeling slightly weak, confused as to why she had a Jadeclan scent. "Who are you?" He demanded, trying to sound tough but sounding more like a scared kit.

Bramblepaw looked back at Softshadow in horror, at first speechless. His usual confident composure was lost. "Is he..." he stammered, "I mean, he''ll be okay, though, right?" He looked down at his paws, fearing her response, almost wishing he hadn't asked.

When Bearpaw went still, Palestream got up to her paws and shook the apprentice. "Bearpaw? Bearpaw?" He wouldn't respond. Palestream's world was slowly crumbling away.
1. She had never felt such a pain before. It was too strong for her to handle. Her legs buckled from beneath her and she fell to the ground. 2. Tears began to fall uncontrollably down her face. 3. A silent wail rose from her jaws. But soon enough sound came. And it was high-pitched and full of grief.
This wasn't happening. It couldn't be. Bearpaw couldn't be dead. "No.." She wailed burying her face into the apprentice's now cold, brown fur.
----------
Hazelfern looked sadly at Palestream, moving closer to Bearpaw's side. She gently pressed up against him. "My name is Hazelfern, I am your grandmother Bearpaw." She paused as Palestream's constant wailing grew louder and grief clouded her expression.

Bramblepaw moved a bit closer to Softshadow in an attempt to find any sort of comfort, but found that she was close to trembling as well. He had spent many days learning with and getting to know Bearpaw as a fellow apprentice and couldn't quite fathom the idea of him not being around anymore. It just felt.. wrong. He heard a wailing come from the medicine cat's den and instantly lept to his feet, ready to run in.

Furzetail looked away sharply, a mixture of pain and panic coursing through the toms veins. He didn't know how to handle a grief stricken mentor, this wasn't something he was prepared for. "I'll give you some time to say goodbye," he murmured into her ear, before slipping out, looking for Nightstar. Palestream was going to need his brother more than ever now. He hesitated, making his way over the stream and taking a deep breath before mewing out a shaky "Nightstar?" ---- "Wh-what?" He stammered, backing away slightly, not being able to hear the wails at first. The brown tom turned around, tipping his head to one side, confused and honestly frightened at his mentors wailing. "Palestream? Palestream, what's wrong?" He asked, reaching a hesitant paw over to the she cat, his paw going straight through her. He whirled on this cat- the one who claimed to be his grandmother. "What's going on?" He demanded. ---- Softshadow put a paw in front of Bramblepaw, shaking his head slightly. "Give her some time, we'll have our time with him as well," she murmured gently, wanting to comfort the young tom. (-plays stay alive reprise in the background-)

Bramblepaw knew Softshadow was right. His head sunk almost to the ground and he slowly began to turn to walk away. In his young life, he had never really known loss, not until this moment. All he knew was that his friend was gone, there was nothing he could do about it, and he felt, for the first time, powerless.

Nightstar turned his head towards the den entrance. He sure enough could hear the loud wailing coming from the medicine den. Bearpaw must have passed. Then Furzetail was there and the black leader was for sure it was coming from his sister. Instantly, he got to his paws and trotted forward. "Did he..... Is she okay?" There was no point in asking about Bearpaw if he already knew.
----------
Hazelfern didn't flinch at the tone in Bearpaw's voice. Just kept giving him the same steady glare. "Bearpaw... you are in the ranks of The Land of Gems now. Your wounds from the battle were pretty severe, and you didn't make it." The she-cat looked back over at Palestream who now was staring ahead of her, at nothingness. The DiamondClan cat dipped her head in sorrow. The pale gray she-cat's expression looked duller than ever and she looked weak and old at the moment.

Furzetail shook his head, sorrow clear in his stance. He felt as if he had failed both Palestream and... and Bearpaw. "She needs her brother." He responded simply, before turning back around to make his way back to the medicine cats den, ignoring the growing crowd in front of it and slipping into the den. "Palestream?" He asked cautiously, seeing the she cat stare blankly at the wall. He was going to need to get her something for shock... keep her in the den for a couple of. nights perhaps. --- "What-no. No. no! That's not true, Furzetails going to fix me up, I can leave yet! I need to become a warrior, just like all the other apprentices! You can't make me leave, I won't leave with some stranger!" He spat back, not wanting to listen to Hazelfern. He dashed over to her mentor, who looked so defeated. He got up into her face, mewing "Palestream! Palestream, I'm still here, listen to me!" He cried, desperation in his voice. --- "It'll be alright Bramblepaw," she mewed quietly, resting a comforting tail over the young toms back. It would be hard, not having the loving tom around campus.

Palestream didn't reply. Her attention was still focused on the wall before her. She had failed Bearpaw. He was dead all because of her. How could I ever forgive myself? Bearpaw is supposed to be getting his warrior ceremony and fighting beside me, taking care of the Clan. Now he'll never be able to do any of that. The she-cat flinched as a muzzle pressed to her side. Only then did she realize that Nightstar had entered the den. She glanced over at her brother, searching his expression before looking away back at Bearpaw. "Its time for his vigil. You have to let him go now Palestream. Furzetail has to prepare."
Palestream shook her head, letting out a whimper. She knew he was right. Slowly she stood, leaning on Nightstar's shoulder as she waited for Furzetail.
----------
Hazelfern dipped her head to Bearpaw. "I know its hard. But you have to accept your fate. Nightstar is about to perform your ceremony." Since Bearpaw was old enough, he would get the dying apprentice ceremony. Which meant he would get his warrior name before officially going to DiamondClan.

{Hello, are you still accepting members? If so, here are my forms.}
Shadowfrost | ♀(female) | Twenty-Two Moons | Comparable to a night with no stars is the coat of this young cat. She’s a deep tabby, almost black in her markings. Her fur is sleek and short, but below the fur that covers her body are bold shoulders and hindquarters that ideally help her the most to fight. She’s built to be a formidable opponent in battle, and takes the warrior’s training to heart. A scar wraps around her right hind leg like a vine, and the hair that grew back in it came in a very light grey, the only variation of color on her pelt. Her eyes are of the sort that don’t let you get away with anything. They peer into your soul, and are the color of fresh spring leaves. Dark amber flecks are dispersed throughout them, and often are noticeable in sunlight. Her personality is fairly cut and dry, for she isn’t one to deal with nonsense. She enjoys aiding her Clan, and will be the first in line to help them in any way. Her only kin in the clan is Swiftwind. | Warrior | Tigerdawn
Swiftwind | ♂(male) | Twenty-Two Moons | Very different from the looks of his sister, Swiftwind boasts a light orange and white tabby coat. It’s sleek, and soft to the touch. In short, he’s more of a hunter than a fighter, for he’s built to slip through undergrowth without a disturbance. His paws are small and light, legs long for easy hunting. His eyes are deep amber, with a kind light about them. He’s the cat most come to for advice in their training, and is often the hardest to get angry. He hates confrontation, and is more likely to walk away from it than listen to someone’s rambling. | Warrior | Tigerdawn

Furzetail had been hovering near the entrance, giving her the space she needed. He watched the two siblings, suddenly feeling the urge to run to his own sister and make sure she was alright. His ears twitched, hearing his name. 'I suppose it is time,' he thought to himself grudgingly, not wanting to fully accept that Bearpaw was truly gone. From where he was standing it seemed as if the little apprentice was sleeping peacefully. 'If only that where true,' he thought to himself sadly, making his way down to where the two warriors where. He pressed himself against Palestream momentarily, as if to give her comfort, before slipping into the den and grabbing some herbs for her. "Eat these, Palestream," he murmured in a voice quiet enough to be barely heard. ---- "But... but what if I don't leave?" He asked, less indignant now, but more uncertain, watching as Palestream moved away from his spirit."Why can't I stay, Palestream needs me," he added, watching the grief stricken warrior with wide, pained eyes. He wanted to be there, physically, for his warriors ceremony, with Palestream puffed up with pride, calling him a lazy fur ball one more time.

Palestream shied away from Furzetail as he offered the herbs, shaking her head. She didn't feel like she could eat. What if she threw it all up? Nightstar licked the top of her head, urging her forwards. "You must eat them. They'll help you regain your strength." Strength? He wanted her strength to be up and her apprentice just died? The pale she-cat shook her head, all she wanted to do was curl up and sleep. All she wanted was to have her apprentice back.
Nightstar glanced back at Furzetail, a look of pity in his green eyes. "Leave the herbs. She can take them later."
----------
Hazelfern padded forward and lay her tail over Bearpaw's shoulders. "Come on. Let's take go out to the clearing. Everyone is waiting for you."

(Do you know what Bearpaw's warrior name is going to be or should I choose?"

Furzetail dipped his head, not saying a word, leaving the herbs where he dropped them. He slipped out of the medicine cats den, eyes focused on the ground ahead of him, settling down near where the ceremony would take place, avoiding the other cars. He studied his paws, trying his best to keep his own feelings under control- something that felt nearly impossible. He didn't know how to help Palestream, the death of an apprentice... that's something no cat should be forced to deal with. --- Bearpaw nodded, slowly making his way out of the den, looking at all of his clanmates. His eyes landed on Softshadow and Bramblepaw- the two cats he was closest to outside of his mentor. "Do I have to say goodbye?" He asked, the pained expression clear on his face. (Yup! )

Shadowfrost and Swiftwind were positioned side by side as cats began to settle for the ceremony that would be taking place soon. Expressions of sorrow had taken up residence on both pairs of cat's faces, causing their eyes to darken with grief for both of their clanmates. The sounds of despair that were coming from Palestream earlier on had nearly set Shadowfrost's fur on end. Now, it seemed like the silence was louder than anything that had happened previously.

Nightstar led Palestream and made her sit next to Furzetail while he took his place on the tree-stump. His green eyes were pained as he looked down at Bearpaw's body in the center of the clearing. "As many of you may know, Palestream and Bearpaw encountered a fox today. And Bearpaw was terribly injured. He... he didn't make it." The leader paused, looking up at the starry sky for a brief second. "Now is time to prepare for his ceremony." Nightstar looked up at the sky once more.
---------- Hazelfern shook her head, it was a bit to late for goodbyes, leading Bearpaw to his body in the center of the clearing. "Stand here, next to your body," She mewed silently, settling herself right beside Bearpaw's limp body and looking up at Nightstar as the ceremony began.
---------
"I ask my ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He has learned the Path of Gems and given up his life in the service of his Clan. Let DiamondClan receive him as a warrior. He will be known as Bearfang. We will miss his bravery and loving spirit."

Shadowfrost couldn't help the chill that spread from her nose to tail at the words of their leader. Swiftwind pressed a shoulder to her's as he listened, the pair glancing up at the stars for a moment before bowing their heads in silence. Neither could imagine life without the other, and thought that having an apprentice must be something of the same feeling that you would share with kin. Shadowfrost curled her tail around her side, closing her eyes for a moment before looking back at Nightstar.

Furzetail pressed himself against Palestream, watching Nightstar with somber eyes. He was crouched down, wanting to do anything he could for the mourning she cat, shivering as Nightstar announced the apprentice-no, the warrior now- Bearfang. That suited him well. He studied his body, frowning momentarily as he saw two transparent figures near Bearfangs body- one of them strange but another achingly familiar. --- Softshadow heard a sound escape from her throat- a mix between a strangled meow and a wail- when they announced his name. It wasn't fair- he deserved to be here, they should be cheering on his name and shoving him jokingly. --- Bearpaw obeyed, but at first he dashed forward, nuzzling both Bramblepaw and Softshadow, whispering "I love you two.please be okay. I'm sorry..." he flinched at the sound the grey warrior made, and saw the shudder as he touched her. He stared at Palestream, running to her and saying the same thing, whispering,"don't blame yourself, you where a good mentor," and then padding to next to Hazelfern, eyes wide and watery. He turned his head to Nightstar, listening as he was given his name. Bearfang. But oddly, he felt nothing.

Ashenclaw lowered his head, in mourning for the newly made warrior. "You were a brave one, Bearfang." His meow was soft and choked. He shook his head. Such an incredible cat shouldn't have been taken so soon. He shifted his gaze to Palestream, and felt his heart go out to her. He padded over and stood next to Bramblepaw ad Softshadow, his head lowered and eyes filled with sadness.

Shadowfrost turned to watch Ashenclaw move toward Bramblepaw and Softshadow, feeling the sadness coming from each of her clanmates as they sat around the apprentice now made warrior. Bearfang's new name rang in her ears and she wished desperately that they could have been cheering it for him at his warrior ceremony instead of mourning it at a time like this. Her neckfur bristled uncomfortably as she thought about this and she scuffed her paws softly, keeping her eyes downturned now.

Hazelfern stayed seated as the vigil slowly began. "We'll leave after your clanmates have made their final goodbyes, Bearfang. We could stay all night, but that's up to you. Though I'd advise you did, this being your last night here."
----------
Nightstar leaped down from the tree-stump. "Let the vigil began." He muttered, padding up to Bearfang's brown side and gently touching his nose there. "I pray that you travel safely to DiamondClan, young one. You could have been a great warrior." The leader then backed away, heading to his den so he could be alone once more.
----------
Cloudypaw crouched down next to Bearpaw- no Bearfang, laying her head on his shoulder. She'd really liked him. Admired him even. The tabby let a single tear slip down her face as she nuzzled her denmate one last time. "I'm going to miss you Bearfang. I wish you could still be here. No cat will ever replace you." And she meant it. No cat would ever take Bearfang's place in her heart. He'd been a really good friend. Now she'd never be able to see him again.
----------
Palestream watched silently as all her clanmates moved forward to give their respects to her former apprentice. Her eyes watering as she listened to everyone's last words for Bearfang. Before she knew it, she was crying again. Staring blankly at Bearfang's lifeless body. Her precious apprentice was really gone. She would never be able to really see him again. He wouldn't be able to ask her annoying questions anymore, he wouldn't be there to oversleep so she could scold him.... Oh Bearpaw....

Shadowfrost and Swiftwind stood in unison and padded over to the stilled apprentice. The she-cat crouched first, pressing her nose into his fur as it had long since grown cold. Her voice was quiet as she murmured words of wishes for welcome in DiamondClan and endless hunting for the young cat. A small crack in her voice broke the last of her statements as she sniffled away impending tears, letting Swiftwind take her place and press his nose into the apprentice's fur as well.

"What happens... what happens when they take me away?" He asked, watching as his clanmates said goodbye to him. He felt his heart wrench, not realizing how many cats actually liked him. He studied Cloudypaw, listening to what she had to say. "I'll miss you too," he responded sadly, before turning his gaze to his mentor, the most worried about her. "I don't want to leave her. I want to make sure she's going to be alright. Isn't there anything we can do?" He asked, frustrated that he couldn't help her at all, that no one could hear him. 'How can other cats live like this?' He thought sadly. --- Softshadow lingered on the edges, wanting to go up with Bramblepaw. The fluffy grey warrior didn't want to go up and see Bear...fang along. She couldn't handle that. --- Runningstream made her way up to Bearfang slowly, touching her nose to the toms cold, stiff fur. This shell didn't do the vibrant tom justice, his familiar scent almost completely masked by lavender to cover the smell of death that would soon take over. "I'm sorry you didn't become a warrior, kiddo. You where so talented, everyone's going to miss you." She whispered, voice breaking slightly. --- Furzetail had yet to come up, waiting for the others to finish their goodbyes first, deciding to be one of the last. He wanted to apologize one last time to him time for not being able to save him in time. (TBH I want to make a character that would become Palestreams next apprentice, just to complete the cycle XD)

@Ignis🔥 -- XD @sweetclover1 -- Palestream would just be like 'oh, another one of these to train. Whoop-dee-doo.' I feel sorry for the poor kit that had her chosen as a mentor X3.
----------
Palestream still sat waiting for everyone to return to their dens. She was going to sit vigil with Bearfang, all the way until the elder's took him away. Furzetail was still beside her. Was he sitting the whole vigil as well? Perhaps not. It was tradition that those closest to the passed warrior sat the night with their dead loved ones. Hesitantly, her green gaze fell back on Bearpaw and a soft sigh escaped her jaws.
----------
Hazelfern glanced over at Bearfang, "When they take you away you'll have to return to The Land of Gems. You'll always be able to watch over your clanmates. And one day, you'll see Palestream and all your other friends again, but now just isn't their time."

Palestream glanced at Softshadow, shaking her head no. It wasn't like she couldn't talk, she just didn't want to talk at the moment. For she knew that her voice would be sore and hoarse from crying if she spoke to anyone. Of course you can sit with me, it isn't like I can control who sits vigil and who can't. If I had that power I'd use it to trade my place for my apprentice's. She thought bitterly, settling down next to Bearfang. Paws tucked underneath her chest and resting her chin on Bearfang's haunches. Ignoring the coldness of his pelt.
----------
"Well, I suppose you get used to it. And you have family waiting for you on the other side. I'm sure your mother and father will be happy to see you." Hazelfern murmured, sitting back on her haunches and glancing up at the sky. It was moonhigh. She and Bearfang would have to leave at sunrise.
