Melyssa caught up to him finally, and it seemed to be too late since he appeared to be on the brink of attacking. She heard him say something to him but knew he wouldn't understand. He doesn't work well with hand signals, only sounds. She spoke in another language to him, he would only keep going the way he was. Bane barked several times again and started inching closer. Melyssa finally decided to say something, after realizing Bane wasn't going to back off until he was told to. "Kom hit (come here)!" She commanded in her and his native language. Bane doesn't understand English, only Swedish.
Bane's ears perked up at the command and he straightened up, turned around and headed towards his owner. He could tell she was mad. Melyssa smacked him on the nose when he got close enough, "Dum hund (bad dog)." She told him sternly. Melyssa looked up at the woman, who was obvious royalty, "I apologize for him." She told her simply. She talked to everyone the same way except her own king and queen. Hopefully she wouldn't be offended.

Callisto, perturbed by the canine, bared her teeth in a vicious smile. Usually a show of dominance would work in neutralizing a dog's aggression, but on some occasion it only make the situation worse. This appeared to be the later of the two. She took a step back as the dog's fur on the back of its neck raised and it rocked back on it's haunches, ready to spring at the foreigner. She tried one last command, this time in the native Norse like dialect, "Down!" When that too failed to work and the dog readied itself to finally attack, the Noble braced herself to flee.
It was then that she heard a women's voice with a distinct Swedish accent and the dog heeled reluctantly. Cali let out a breath of relief and looked towards the woman who had just rescued her from the beast. Dusting herself off lightly and pullin the coat around her once more, she smiled thinly at the incredibly pale girl, "No need for apologies. Canines tend to hate me." Her waist length, curly black hair fluttered in the breeze and when it obstructed her view, she tucked it behind her ear. After a moments pause, she looked down at the dog who had almost mauled her moments ago, "Does he always react that way to foreigners?"

Melyssa could tell Bane was prepared to attack, merely waiting for her to tell him to. But Melyssa wouldn't send Bane to hurt anyone innocent. Well, innocent as far as she knew. Foreigners always seemed to startle Bane. Maybe because Melyssa used to not like them either and Bane picked that up. Dogs were smarter than what people credited them to be. "Yes. He is very wary of foreigners. I suppose he doesn't really like anyone that doesn't look like they are from around here." Bane pulled his lips back into a snarl and started to stand up again, ever so slowly.
Melyssa pushed down a little on his head to sit him back down. "Did he bite you at all?" She hoped not. After all, Melyssa would end up paying for any damaged property and the doctor's bills if anything happened to her. Not only was it the moral thing to do, but the law also motivated her to do so.

Callisto shook her head, her hair waving delicately as she did, "No. Fortunately, he didn't touch me. If he had I wouldn't be speaking to you like this." Cali's lips twitched with a smirk. The girl was lucky that the situation had ended as well as it had. The dog would have been killed the instant she could tell someone. The Duchess wasn't much of a dog person, but outing a dog down for attacking her was still a sad concept. Of course, a dog like that was a danger to the public. It would only be the right thing to do.
Callisto breathed a sigh; she was growing impatient already. Shifting on her heeled feet, she gazed around at the market longingly. Then, as if a lightbulb went off in her head, she grinned brilliantly, "You are a native. Could you show an old girl like me around the market? It's my first time you see." She then clicked her tongue, "Oh where are my manners? I never introduced myself. Dutchess Callisto Eirene Pherenike of Asmenia."

(yeah. You can still make more characters if you want though lol.)In the dining hall of Crystalhorn Keep was lit with a cheerful fire in the hearth at the end of the room opposite the large pinewood doors. The firelight flickered off the granite table, reflecting on its polished surface next to the reflected silhouettes of the Mistmane family that was seated at the table. Or at least, some of them.
"Where is your brother?" Queen Asa demanded, raising a pale eyebrow at her daughter who sat farther down the table from her, a bored expression on her face as she traced the patterns in the stone with one long, red-painted fingernail. The girl shrugged in answer to her mother's question, not bothering to look up.
"The real question is, where is the Duchess?" put in Calin, who sat next to the king with his arms crossed and a rather irked expression. "Wasn't she supposed to be here already?"
"Maybe we should send someone out to go find her?" Ivona suggested, sitting up. "What if something attacked her on the way? Like wolves, or salesmen?" That only got a disapproving look from the Queen.
At that moment, the door opened and Arun entered, followed closely by his wolf-dog Agnar. His disheveled hair and surly look also got a disapproving look from his mother.
"What, did you get attacked by a weasel on the way up or something?" Ivona asked, raising one eyebrow in an expression that perfectly mirrored that of their mother's. Arun ignored her and flopped down in his chair, setting about fixing his hair as best he could without a comb or mirror. Agnar sprawled out at his feet, tongue lolling and looking as pleased as could be.

(My niece is throwing an absolute fit in the hallway @-@)
Warm sunlight beamed into the pale skin of Holald, bringing the only sense of warmth he had felt all day. Atop the watchtowers was a cold place, wind being his only friend while he was alone. It hit him like a wall of bricks on cooler days in the spring, like today, and even a hearty amount of clothes couldn't keep his friend from finding a way inside to caress his skin. It didn't bother him as his body was particularly tuned to sitting in the cold- as this was his usual post during the mid-day. It could be considered one of his least favorites though. It made his eyes sting, and limits his eyesight. The country below him looked blurry through the tears he couldn't stop his eyes from forming. A sigh split his pink lips apart as he leaned against the short wall separating him from the ground below. He only had a few hours left before he could make his trek down the tower and make his way towards the guard's housing for a short break. After this he would either be assigned to walk the city for trouble or keep the castle grounds under check. This would change from day to day, leaving Holald with something to be excited towards. The subtle changes in his daily routine helped keep him going, it was probably one of the few aspects of his job he enjoyed doing. Sure, it was good, honest work that would have made his family proud, but it was boring on most days. Crime wasn't that all common, and when it did happen it usually was on the opposite side of town from him. He couldn't run to catch the action in time. It was assuredly something he missed about his old life- something always happening.

Solid boots sounded on the stone stairs leading to the top of the tower as Asni came into view, carrying two bottles with her. She nodded to Holald as she joined him leaning against the low wall to look out over the city and the tundra beyond. It bustled as people came and went, and even outside the city walls- which were usually empty at this time of year, except for the occasional shepherd and their flock- was a flurry of activity, visitors to the city setting up their own little temporary camps in specific plots marked off by thin ropes. For now, most of the tents were being set up fairly close to the wall, but as it came nearer to the official beginning of the Celebration, the city of tents would stretch nearly as far as they could see across the tundra.
"It's a slow day, so Captain sent me up here to keep you company so you don't fall asleep." Asni broke the silence, casting a sideways glance at the other guard. "I brought ale. It's from Meskana*- old Meskan lady gave it to me as thanks for chasing of some stray dogs that were getting into her supplies."
This friendliness was not necessarily characteristic of the young guard woman, who was generally colder towards the other guardsmen and didn't really socialize. But, she felt rather festive today. Also, as the captain of the city guard aged, she had begun to recognize the importance of being well-liked if she ever wanted to get promoted. And she intended to get promoted.
(* I just made up a kingdom name to insert here since I didn't want to use any of the other ones)

The woman's voice startled him. He wasn't used to being accompanied all the way up here. The captain normally gave him simple, yet lonely tasks as one of the newer guards on the team so it came to a surprise to hear otherwise. He wasn't going to argue with it, as he needed a good chat. Loneliness wasn't something he dealt with greatly. It was new and uncomfortable. It had been nearly a year since he started his guard work in this city and he still wasn't any step closer to finding out what he could do to settle his nerves. All he could do was stare at people up on this tower, not even talk just sit and watch. What good was that? He turned his attention towards Asni, "Thank you." He said in a coarse voice before beaconing the drink and taking a large chug of the ale that patched his aching throat. It dripped from the corners of his mouth for a moment before he wiped it, and the tears lining his eyes, away with the back of his sleeve. "It has been some time since I've had this ale." He murmured its he returned the ale, his voice returning to it's deep rich tone, "I used to travel to Meskana quite frequently. My workmates and I would always celebrate a job well done in the taverns, and this ale always got us into trouble. I would dare say it's the best ale in the world." He let out a side chuckle and turned his eyes back down to the people setting up tents below.

Queen Reena Iola Alke Reena is exotically beautiful with soft sunshine colored eyes, cropped black hair, and porcelain colored skin. Standing at 5'8 she is a fairly tall woman and her limbs are lithe and taunt with soft muscle. The tips of her ringlet style black hair hits right above her shoulders and it angles up slightly in the back in a unique but queenly look. Her body is curvy, her cheekbones chiseled, and her lips plump and rosy. While she is truly beautiful, her younger sister Callisto has always been the one that people fawned over and thought was the prettier of the two. She was jealous of the youngest in the family for a large part of her life; however, now that she is older (and married to the King of Asmenia) she has learned that beauty is not everything. Reena is a wise woman who rarely speaks in public. She is a quiet soul and a deep thinker, slow to speak but quick to listen in almost every situation. In private however, she can be quite quirky and a character. Her husband brings out her more adventurous side. The Queen also loves deeply, maybe a little too much. At night she will have nightmares of her loved ones dying and if her husband was to die, she too would die from a broken heart. She tends to make a connection with someone quicker than most. However, because she loves deeply, she also has a problem with the flip side: hating (or should she say, disliking) deeply. Once you are on her bad side, it is extremely hard to come back into her graces. She is talented in playing the violin and the piano and also can wield a dagger with ease. Reena has twin sons who are 19 years old, an 13 year old daughter, and an 11 year son (these are up for grabs. I figured they needed some princes and princesses.) Age: 37 History: Reena is the oldest child of the Pherenike family and has one sister and five brothers. Her family has long standing ties to the royal family and her marriage to the King was decided before she was ever born. Luckily upon meeting each other they knew that they would be able to love each other.

The journey had been long and hard, but finally, finally Reena had made it to the castle. She stepped out of the carriage, head held high and shoulders back in a regal manner. A guard rushed forward to usher through the gate, under the archway, and into the palace. Reena moved slowly, carefully though the palace and soon came to the throne room. The guard saluted and said, "The King and Queen would like for you to wait for them inside. They will be here shortly." He bowed and opened the door for her. After she slipped inside the guard bowed again before leaving her.
