Back in the original series, mentors and apprentices both had a strong bond for each other. I mean Dustpaw grieved over Redtail, Graypaw wailed over Lionheart and Fireheart felt deep respect for Bluestar even after she changed.
I don't think this bond was written as much in The New Prophecy and certainly not in Power of Three. I really wish the Erins showed that mentors and apprentices both loved or deeply cared for one another. It's a shame that the bond has been forgotten. I wonder if this was written better Blossomfall might not have been so upset about not getting enough attention, or other situations when other cats needed support.

I kinda like the changing in mentality, like how the names are slowly becoming more whimsical. It shows that this is an actual society of living beings. Cats don't live very long, but there have been several generations since the start of the series, so it's only natural that their culture is changing.
The apprentices rising up in Shadowclan before Darktail arrives is another good example of how clan culture is evolving.

I agree. The new series never shows the bond between mentor and apprentice.
