Has anyone noticed this? When Brokenstar kills Beetlewhisker, he says something and then turns to Applefur who looks distraught or something like that. I'm not sure, I don't have the book and home and it were ages since I've read it, if anyone can give me the exact quote that'd be great.
Anyways, do you think they were in love with each other or they were just friends?

I think anyone would be distraught at seeing someone murdered right in front of them, especially if it was by someone they thought they could trust.

I think anyone would be distraught at seeing someone murdered right in front of them, especially if it was by someone they thought they could trust. True, but she seemed to be very sympathetic and stuff towards Beetlewhisker in that scene while everyone else was just like "so he died, meh". |

That's because she and Ivypool were the only cats there that weren't evil, and Ivypool was trying to hide her emotions so that the Dark Forest would trust her. |

I reread the scene, and Applefur throughout that scene was mainly showing fear, especially when Brokenstar openly threatened to murder her at the end. No relationships here.

I felt bad for Applefur in that scene. It seemed to severely impact her. Also, did Beetlewhisker ever go to StarClan or did he just rot in the Dark Forest? I can't really remember, but which cats fought for the DF in the end? I know Breezepelt and Redwillow, but in the end most were willing to turn on the DF, weren't they? It's been confirmed that Beetlewhisker went to StarClan. And the only ones who fought for the DF were just Redwillow and Breezepelt. Neither felt remorse for their actions and Redwillow was even killed by Blackstar and went to the Dark Forest after his death. All the other trainees fought for the Clans. |

I'm guessing that was officially the case until the Great Battle… With the DF losing power and Starclan winning, it makes sense that they could rescue him and take him to where he belongs…

I personally shipped them.
Platonically and Romantically.
I felt like Apple was one of the closest cats Beetle had in the Dark Forest, if her trying to convince him to stay proved anything. No one else really did anything, and Brokenstar singled her out after killing him right in front of her.
Personally I liked the idea of possible background relationships, like Mallowtail and Mousewhisker possibly joining the DF just so they could see one another.
