Introduction:
We are the Specials.
We are the ones the government is afraid of.
We have been exiled to a rogue island, out in the Atlantic. Why is this?
We have the power to change the world. Destroy it, even.
With the world on the verge of war, we are now more important than ever.
Who will you fight for?
The Story:
The year is 2100. Thanks to some revolutionary changes in the early twenty-first century, the threats of climate change have been evaded, for now at least. Wealthy and powerful countries such as the European Nation and the Great Northern-American Union (GNAN) live a luxurious life, with innovative technology at their fingertips. Even third-world nations are faring better than ever. During the 2070s and 2080s a pandemic ravaged much of the world. Very few people actually died from this sickness, dubbed "Superbug GV623", but there was no cure, so the victims had to let the sickness play out. By the time the sickness faded, patients often sustained lasting damage to various organs, which could be limiting.
A select few women, all who had caught the sickness while pregnant, gave birth to strange children. These children could perform a wide variety of superhuman feats. These children were even considered a new species of humans, called the Homo Maguses. More commonly, they were known as the Specials. Upon hearing about these powerful children, the world turned fearful. They were afraid that these children would one day turn against them, and destroy the world. There was so much unrest, in fact, that GNAU president-elect Katherine Luco was killed after announcing her plans to protect the Specials. She hadn't even sworn in before she was shot dead. In response, her former Vice President-elect Alexander Dayes, now the future president, formulated a plan to exile the Specials to a recently discovered island in the Atlantic, renamed Lucoane Island. Dayes ensured that these children would be cared for by loving guardians, and would have access to everything they needed.
There was just one catch; the Specials couldn't leave. Ever. The island was surrounded by an unpenetrable force field, so not even a water-breather or flier could escape into the ocean.
In 2098, NASA made its first contact with alien life. Rather, alien life made its first contact with Earth. A small but powerful species known as the Raiglas sent a message written in English to NASA, telling of how they had spent twenty years observing Earth, learning our cultures, customs, and languages. They were angry that we were making plans to colonize the system they lived in. Two years later, humans and Raiglas are on the verge of war. Another alien species, the Izutous, split in two; half the population allied with the Raiglas, the other half remain neutral. The Izutous are extremely large in number, but technologically inferior to Earth.
Desperate for protection, the United Nations has reached out to the Specials, begging them to protect the world with their powers. The Specials could either fight on the front line or defend Earth. They could go free if they agreed to this. However, not every Special is willing to serve the world that turned against them. The Raiglas reached out, promising to protect the Specials in return for their assistance. Some Specials, called the Rebels, agreed to this, arguing that there was no point in serving an Earth that hated them. The Loyalists argue that condemning billions of people to extinction is cruel and inhuman. They say that the world would change for the better if they saved the planet.
Meanwhile, a Raigla-Izutou scout party has already landed, right under everyone's noses. Their first destination?
Lucoane Island.

Rules:
xX Follow the forum rules - This is a no-brainer. If you aren't willing to follow the guidelines set by our admins, you shouldn't be here.
xX Activity - I don't expect you to roleplay for an hour each day. I can't do that myself. However, I would prefer a minimum of three well-sized paragraphs per week. After two weeks of unexplained absence, your characters will go up for claim. At this point, you can reclaim your character if they are unclaimed, or you can create a new one. If you don't post for a week after that, you will be deleted from the roleplay. Bookmarking this page is the best way to keep track of activity; I highly recommend it.
xX Literacy - This is a semi-advanced roleplay. As such, I expect at least four lines per post. Lines, not sentences. Aside from that, just roleplay to the best of your ability. I don't expect everyone to reach this all the time. Just remember that people need something to reply to.
xX Consideration - Please, please be considerate of your fellow roleplayers. Use (),[],{}, or <> to signify OOC chatter. Don't harass members out of character. LGBT+ characters are not only allowed, but encouraged.
xX Characters - Specials can have naturally colored eyes and hair, as well as powers. However, not all Specials are created equal. Some are more powerful than others. Don't give your character the same exact power someone else already has. First come, first serve. Furthermore, don't make your characters overpowered. If your character is too overpowered, then I will ask you to change his/her power.
xX Keep the gore to a minimum - Don't get too detailed gore-wise. I'd like to keep this roleplay at a low PG-13 level.
xX Don't overdo the romance - Keep it child-friendly. The skip button is always available, so use it!
xX Have fun! - Self-explanatory. Enjoy yourself.

Species:
Humans
Native to planet Earth, but have a colony orbiting the planet, as well as a settlement on Mars. They live in four main nations; the European Nations (the entirety of Europe), the Great Northern-American Union (the United States and Canada), the South American Confederacy (all of South America), and the Asian Republic (all of Asia). Australia has become uninhabitable due to dangerous weather conditions. (One of the few irreversible effects of global warming, alongside with the other Pacific islands). Most of Southern Africa, Central America, and all other countries live independently. Northern Africa has been ravaged by nuclear warfare.
There is a sizable space country orbiting the Earth, called Artemisa. These people spend their entire lives inside the vast structure, with the exception of the astronauts. The small but populated colony on Mars is referred to as Eamare. These people live inside oxygen and heat producing structures.
These four nations live peacefully, always negotiating international disagreements though peaceful discussion and debate. The vast majority of the population live within these four countries. These people live a wonderful life; machines produce meals at the push of a button, robots tidy their houses (this once caused a job crisis, but this has been resolved), and the average human now lives to be one hundred and twenty years old. Cosmetic pills and surgical procedures are readily available, deaging and beautifying both young and old people. Medicine has advanced significantly, and even dangerous diseases such as cancer don't take long to cure.
Specials
Native to Earth. Mostly similar to humans, though some specials have naturally exotic eye and hair colors. Specials have one power or, in some cases, two less useful powers. These powers range from telepathy to healing to elemental control to dress making. These powers are the results of genetic mutations caused by Superbug GV623.
A historic deal signed by the United Nations, proposed by GNAU President Alexander Dayes exiled these children to the island of Lucoane. The Specials live in a luxurious premise, and they are looked after by volunteer workers, most of whom are genuinely caring. They train and keep up with current events; they even have internet access. However, they can never leave this island, not even as adults. Nor can they have children.
Raiglas
Native to planet Icarus, but live on Yeerk and Delme as well. Together, they are known as the Huiblu. Raiglas are a humanoid species, averaging 6'3 ft. tall. Raiglas are hairless, with smooth, bald heads. They have bright skin, found in a variety of colors. They have jewel shaped patterns on their arms, legs, toreso, face, and head. Often, these patterns are a darker shade of their skin color. On average, they live ninety Earth years (which is extremely long for a Raigla). Females, as with humans, are generally smaller and curvier than the males. Most are intelligent by human standards, and roughly half the population can communicate telepathically. The ability of telepathy is not decided through genetics; everyone has an equal opportunity to receive it. Non-telepaths are sometimes treated as second-class citizens. They cannot hold high government positions or join the military, for instance. Raiglas speak two main languages, but have taught themselves English through decades of observation. Some can also speak the language of the Izutous.
Raiglas are small in numbers in comparison to humans, having a population of only one billion. Their society has strict gender roles; however, these roles are almost always equal to each other. For instance, the Raiglas are always ruled by one male and female with equal power, called a Ka and a La, respectively. They are much more technologically advanced than humans. The Raiglas have been allied with the Izutous for centuries, and the two have an extremely positive relationship. They live in the same star system, Azwala. The Raiglas inhabited the warmer planets, preferring Earthlike temperatures.
Izutous
Izutous are native to Quabail and Keible, but have colonized Lilwan, Oran, and Harwatz. They are humanoid in structure, with smaller, lighter bodies. Izutous don't have hair; instead, they have a head full of feathers. These feathers range in size, color, and pattern. Sprouting from their ivory white backs are a set of wings, with feathers that match the ones on their heads. Izutous are powerful fliers, able to travel for miles without rest. They have a humanlike set of arms and legs. The average lifespan is sixty years.
Izutous are a large group, with billions upon billions of people. They are technologically inferior to Earth, with the odd exception of their space travel. Aside from that, their technology is at the level of Earth's early twentieth century. Despite this, the Izutous are brutal, fierce warriors, with formidable minds. They live on the outer ring of Azwala, preferring the brutal cold. However, they can survive in temperatures up to 100*C. They are devoted allies to the Raiglas.

Available Occupations: This list will be expanded as the roleplay develops.
Lucoane Volunteers - These are the people who volunteered to move to this beautiful island to take care of the Specials. The Volunteers are mostly kind people, though there are a select few harsh ones. They clean and look after the massive Special Facility, which spans almost the entirety of Lucoane Island. They come from a variety of countries, but are required to have at least a limited knowledge of English to volunteer.
The Locoane Volunteers are required to carry out one grim task; the executions. Any Special caught plotting escape or the like will be killed by these people. Even a slight mention can prove fatal for the Specials. As such, each Volunteer carries an INI, which is a gun with infinite bullets. This policy is extremely controversial among the UN and the Lucoane Volunteers, but won't be ended anytime soon.
Must be human, 18+. Open.
ESP (Earth Scout Patrol) Captains - A Raigla and an Izutou lead the Scout Patrol sent down to Earth. The goal of the ESP is to recruit the Specials to their side. The two Captains are the commanders of this mission, holding the most powerful position on the patrol.
One Raigla and one Izutou can have this position. The Raigla must be telepathic. The Raigla has been claimed; the Izutou is open.
Scouters - Normal members of the Earth Scouting Patrol. These Raiglas and Izutous are trained diplomats, soldiers, and tacticians.
Raiglas must be telepathic. Open.

The Characters: NOTE: Raiglas and Izotous will be roleplayed sparingly; almost all of them will be members of the Earth Scout Patrol, for now at least.
The Specials:
Matthew Axwell - Special - Male - 16 years - Loyalist - ✯ - peppermint - ✯
Being very tall, Matthew has the stereotypical structure of a football player. He has broad shoulders and happens to be very muscular. Matthew has dark skin, being of African-American descent. Matthew has short, curly black hair, about ear-length. He has startling, bright yellow eyes. Matthew has large hands and feet. His size is both a blessing and a burden; Matthew is fairly strong, but he happens to be very slow and is far from agile. Matthew isn't the brightest tool in the shed, though that's not to say he's stupid. He just happens to be obtuse at times. Despite this, Matthew is fairly kind, loyal and always willing to give others a second chance. He has an uncanny ability to "read" other people, an extension of his power. This is very limited, however, unless he is touching them. As such, Matthew is very empathetic. Matthew's power is psychometry, meaning that he can tell the past of an object or location just by touching it. Occasionally, he can also see its most likely futures. His readings tend to be vague, and often need deciphering. Matthew cannot use this power fully on living things, though he can use it to get a sense of what they're like; he usually detects a sort of "vibe" that every living thing gives off. The more complex the being, the more difficult this becomes. He doesn't like fighting, and will give anything to stay out of it.
Adelaide Harrensworth - Special - Female - 15 years - Rebel - ✯ - peppermint - ✯
Adelaide is of average height, with a slender but curvy structure. She has a heart-shaped face. Adelaide has sun-yellow hair, which falls in elegant waves to her mid-back. Her skin is slightly tanned, and she has large pure black eyes. She holds herself up high, with a confident posture. Adelaide is very outgoing, having an extroverted personality. She is fierce; if you cross her, she can be downright terrifying. Adelaide is a very judgemental girl; any and every action can change her opinion drastically. There is little to no middle ground with her. She bears grudges all too easily, and resents humanity, resents the people who tore her away from her family to live a loveless, isolated life. Adelaide has the ability to manipulate light. This means that she can create balls of light bright enough to blind someone. She can also take away light to create darkness. Adelaide is immune to eye damage caused by staring at ultra-bright lights such as the sun. Adelaide can also manipulate light to the point of affecting the color of an object (though not the object itself). This extends to invisibility. Adelaide's mood tends to change with the sky; when the sun is out, she becomes more energetic, productive, and cheerful. At nighttime, she mellows out significantly. During both times of day, when the sky is cloudy, Adelaide becomes grouchy, snappy and less powerful.
The Humans:
The Raiglas:
Delarika Komn - Female - 31 earth years - Earth Scout Patrol Captain - Telepathic - ✯ - peppermint - ✯
Delarika is an imposing figure, to say the least. She is tall and narrow, but very muscular. Delarika is considered very beautiful amongst her people, with sculpted cheekbones, a thin face, and emerald-green eyes. The Raigla co-captain has light purple-pinkish skin, with deep purple patterns along her skin. She has a surgically implanted gem between her eyes. Delarika Komn doesn't like interacting with humans much. She was reluctant to challenge them, for fear that the Raiglas would come off worse. The human plans to settle in Azwala are what pushed her off the edge. She is quiet, cold and calculating. Delarika cares about her soldiers, but has little to no respect for the Izutous, believing them to be barbaric. She doesn't let this show for diplomacy purposes, but expresses her distain in more subtle ways. In battle, Delarika is merciless and brutal. Her philosophy is to leave no survivors, unless taking prisoners was the wiser decision.
The Izutous:
