happy 2017!
Although familiar with the general concept and rules of badminton, Cordelia listened intently as the prince explained (perhaps the rules were different at the palace?). All the rules ending up being similar to how she had always played, and thus the girl sighed in relief. Although it was just badminton, the air of familiarity exuded by the net and rackets allowed the girl to find momentary comfort in an unfamiliar setting. However this relaxed feeling left just as quickly as it arrived, and she was left gripping the handle of her racket tightly while she waited for Kryslyn to pick her partner.

Loretta shook her head. "Not every day. Usually once a week," she told Andy. She pushed all the old sheet into a pile by the door and began the tricky business of tucking the fitted sheets around the mattress. She glanced up at the guard and raised an eyebrow. "If you're going to hang around, you may as well make yourself useful," she hinted.

No, the game was not a test. The jewelry on the first night the girl's were there had been a test. He wanted to see how much each girl wore, especially considering they knew they'd be able to keep the pieces. It was a test of greed, humility, and taste. Augustus was a firm supporter of the phrase "simplicity is the key to elegance." Princesses should sparkle, of course, but they shouldn't blind. Luckily, nobody had gone overboard. Of course, that also meant he hadn't found anybody to eliminate yet, but perhaps it was too early for that anyhow.

Lily finished petting the horse and made her way back to the festivities, hoping that no one had noticed her absence.

(Pretty bored)
Ellie sat on her blanket, quietly observing the other girls. Sometimes, when she was bored, she people-watched. One could learn so much by just watching others. It was so interesting to see the way people communicate with body language and other gestures when they believed no one was watching. Ellie was never one to judge, but simply thought one could almost know a person but watching them do day-to-day things. Part of her really itched to join in, but she didn't know how. She'd tried to ask about holding a kitten, but no one seemed to notice her existence. She sighed. The other half of her wanted to find Augustus and right her wrong from when they first met. She didn't exactly know how "summoning" an audience with the prince worked in The Selection if he was playing badminton with another girl. She was not jealous by any means and certainly didn't want to steal him away from whatever girl he was spending time with. That wouldn't be right or kind. She squealed in joy as a gray kitten made her way into her lap. "Hi, baby!" She exclaimed, eyes widening with excitement as she picked up the wee little thing.

(Blossom, if you're bored, have Ellie go interact with someone. She can join in the badminton game, for instance. They haven't started yet. Or she could talk to ally, who just got back from the stables. Ellie is interested in horses too, right?)
(Sorry we're at a standstill, guys! Idk where Essie went. I'll work around it for now, give me just a second to remember who all is here! Lol, I feel like I have just a hint of Augustus's problem: there are so many of you! But it makes me so happy!)

(Lol. okay)
Ellie decided to get up. She left the kitten to bite at her blanket. She giggled as she made her way over to the badminton net. She picked up a nearby racket. "Hey, mind if I join?" She asked kindly, her eyes shining with anticipation. "To make this interesting, maybe Cordelia and I could team up and we can see how good Prince Augustus can actually play." She hinted playfully, standing on the side of the center of the net, looking back and forth between the two.

Augustus laughed at Elizabeth's--Ellie's--proposition. "I don't know how I like the idea of you all teaming up against me," he said, smiling. He turned his head to assess who else was there. "All right then. Why don't you and Cordelia team up with Kryslyn, Ellie, and Sierra and Patience can play with me?"

Sierra grinned. It was nice to be chosen for the prince's team- even if she would probably fail horribly at badminton. Maybe that's WHY he had picked her, so that his and Patience's previous experience could make up for her lack of skill. She scrunched her nose in a silent giggle at the thought before crossing to the side of the net where Augustus stood. "Alright, team captain," She said to him, "Tell me where to stand and what to hit."

Ellie laughed, her face lighting up more. "Oh, you're on, Your Highness!" She stood in position, getting low in the front, all ready to go. She stood up straight a moment later. "Do you ladies know how to play?" She asked, simply curious, eyes drifting to the two girls who were on her team.

"Could I join?" Lilianna chimed in from behind. She watched the group with observant eyes. Her gaze was drawn to Prince Augustus and a light blush graced her cheeks.

Ellie looked over at Lilianna. "Sure, come on over!" She smiled, waving her over. "Come join the Prince Crushers over here." Her eyes shined with mischief.

Cordelia shuffled towards her partners hesitantly, watching their reactions closely. She watched as Ellie invited over Lily with a smile, glad everyone was so inclusive and seemingly friendly. “Prince Crushers?” A giggle grew to a laugh at the name Ellie had given the team.

Augustus turned around to see Lily. Finally, one girl whose name he definitely remembered. He opened his mouth, but Ellie beat him to it. "Prince Crushers?!" he asked. "Oh dear..." He shook his head and looked to Patience. "Would you start us off, dear?"
Hmm. Yeah, no, the endearment sounded lit of place this early on.

Since Cordelia already had a racket, so Ellie simply brought them into a cute little team huddle. "I really don't know what to say in these little huddles, so let's make it look like we are out for pain and humiliation and are going to have a good laugh because this is all for fun, okay?" She laughed with a bright smile.

While in their team huddle, Cordelia simply nodded at the other girl’s pep talk, offering a small smile at her enthusiasm. It was a nice change of atmosphere from the generally tense feeling of the previous day. “We’ve got this,” she encouraged. She placed her racket in the middle and said, “On three, we yell Prince Crushers. One, two, three…”

Ellie laughed, glad everyone was catching the fun-bug. She put her racket in on top of the other girls. She chanted with them. "Prince Crushers!" She chanted, holding her racket in the air now.

Augustus eyes the girl's nervously, then turns to his own teammates. "They're making me a little nervous," he jokingly admitted.

Sierra rolled her eyes. "We've just got to get a better name." Turning to the other team, she called, "You guys seem pretty confident. I wouldn't be so sure about that when you're facing... the Crown Avengers!" Then she winced. "Ack... that was pretty terrible, I think I just ruined our chances," She said, turning to Augustus with a grimace.

Ellie burst into laughter. "Oh," She cried. "That's such an adorable name!" She got into position and tried to focus on the task at hand, but she thought it was pretty funny.

When Sierra called out her opposing team’s name, Cordelia couldn’t hold back another fit of laughter. She gripped at her side and turned away from the group to catch her breath and compose herself. When she turned back around, the girl positioned herself appropriately on the field, stifling a few lingering giggles. “Focus,” she told herself quietly, still feeling the euphoric high brought on by the laughter.

Augustus laughed and shook his head. "It's a wonderful name, Sierra. It will strike fear into the hearts of our enemies," he joked. "All right! Everybody ready?" He backed up to the right corner of the court and served.
