Which characters do you think the Erins could've written better? Here's some of mine.
1) Firestar: Don't get me wrong, I love Firestar and always have, but when it comes down to his character, he's honestly pretty generic.
2) Any of the background characters: I'm not asking for much here and given how this series has a lot of characters already, it's hard to come up with development for cats who don't play that huge of a role in the story. But it would still be nice if the background characters had some actual personality traits instead of making them all the same.
3) Ivypool: I've never cared much for Ivypool and I don't really like using the word cliché since hardly anything is completely original these days, but let's face it—Ivypool's story has been done to death. It's the typical underdog story mixed in with the tale of a jealous, misunderstood outcast who joins a bad crowd. Her spying skills could be better as well.
4) Blossomfall: I have mixed feelings on Blossomfall, but her story is similar to Ivypool's in that she too is a jealous, misunderstood kid who joins a bad crowd. The only difference is that Blossomfall wasn't a spy and Millie apparently neglected her out of desperation to care for Briarlight. If this actually were the case, would it kill the Erins to show some other instances of this happening throughout the arc instead of just showing it once or twice for one book? Even actually showing them making amends would be nice.
5) Most of the villains and antagonists: Now, I'm not saying that every villain story needs to be told and some are evil just for the sake of it, but it would still be nice if we still would've gotten a little more depth to some of them beyond just being the stereotypical villain, especially when it comes to Slash. At least we got a little insight in Brokenstar's character and why he became the way he is other than being destined to be evil. In Mapleshade's case however, I just think her backstory itself could've been written better so she doesn't come off as a victim.
6) Spottedleaf: She has flaws, but is rarely called out on them and her obsession with Firestar is treated as this epic, tragic love story rather than creepy and they barely knew each other. Hopefully her novella will expand more on her character.
7) Silverstream: I like Silverstream, but it would be nice if her character went beyond just being Graystripe's old mate for the most part.
8) Leafpool: I don't have much of an opinion on Leafpool, but she doesn't seem to have much of a personality other than the typical nice medicine cat and her affair with Crowfeather.
9) Gray Wing: Similar to Leafpool in that I just found him to be a little too nice and not enough flaws for the most part, but I still like him.
10) Most of the pairings in the DotC era: A bit of cheating, I know, but I felt like this needed to be said. As much as I loved the DotC era, the romance in the arc and SE could've been way better, especially when it came to certain cats like Bright Stream, Storm, and Violet Dawn. Not helped by the fact that either the development happened in the background or one of the cats died before we really got to know them. Hopefully we'll get more insight on ThunderxViolet in Thunderstar's Echo.
11) Lionblaze: Compared to his littermates, his character was a little bland in my opinion, especially in OotS. His relationship with Cinderheart could've also been written better.
12) Cinderheart: Same as Lionblaze.
13) Dovewing: Pretty much the same as Lionblaze and Cinderheart.
14) Twigpaw: She's still a new character, so it's a bit unfair to judge her character just yet, but I do hope she develops beyond just being naive.
1) Firestar: Don't get me wrong, I love Firestar and always have, but when it comes down to his character, he's honestly pretty generic.
