I have trouble posting on them tbh. Usually, I'd be drawn to them more, cause they're threads that seem to imply that the person actually cares about other people's opinions and want to hear them. I'm not the type of person who's going to give my thoughts to someone only for them to rip it to shreds or treat it like a pile of dirt.
But idk, these days I kinda just see them as clickbait to make people listen to their ranting? I could be wrong of course... but that's just how it appears to me.
I see "what's your opinion?", I say "sweet, this person actually wants to know how I feel for once" and go to post my opinion just for the description to be something along the lines of "I hate them and can't understand why people love them" or "I love them and I can't understand why people hate them".
So I'm like... wait... do you still want to know how I feel? Cause you sound pretty strong about your opinion and seem to not like people who disagree with you. Let alone you don't even seem to want to understand people who disagree with you. So why ask?
But say I stop being distrustful, shrug it off, and post anyway.
9 times out of 10 the thread maker doesn't respond to anyone's posts. It's almost as if they just asked for people's opinions, said their's first, and then booked it before anyone could respond. And even if they do respond to people's posts, they only respond to people who agree with them- soak up the pride that people agree with them- and then give people they disagree with silent treatment.
So though I do acknowledge that I don't know people's thoughts- and I could be completely wrong entirely... it just seems to me that "opinion threads" are misnamed and misleading?
Literally, if I saw a thread named "I hate Mousefur *vent* " and a thread named "What's your opinion on Mousefur?", they'd probably look exactly the same.
Idk, am I the only one that's bothered by this?
