Swiftstar nodded. "Thank you for stepping up to the challenge." He coughed again, the tickle in his throat refusing to go away. He resolved to speak to Eclipsesky or Dawnshadow as soon as he had a free moment.
Silverspirit nodded. "I know she would be." She paused to think of her father's reaction. "He'll be so proud of her." she laughed. "Though unfortunately he won't be able to fully express it." She thought back to the days when they were kits and Swallowfeather took them to meet Cloudscar in secret. It was the only time they had seen him for who he truely was...every other interaction had been heavily veiled behind ShadowClan pride.

Sagefoot narrowed her eyes, a frown present on her face. "Are you alright Swiftstar? That sounds like a bad cough."
Eclipsesky nodded sympathetically, "I'm sure he'll be proud internally. You know it's going to kill him when Stormfury and Cherryvine have their kits." he murmured thoughtfully. "They're his kin, but he can't show it."

Sagefoot smiled shyly at Swiftstar, "I'm glad I will have Blacktail and you for guidance if I need it. Please let me know when you need me." Eclipsesky flicked his ears, "I suppose Swiftstar doesn't care about that as much as some of the other leaders. It doesn't change who you are as a cat anyway. You would be you and Sagefoot would be Sagefoot whether your father was from Windclan or not." Jasmineheart flinched away from Splashstone's harsh tone, he had always been prickly, but her brother had never yelled at her before. She let out a little sniff, "None of us chose to be born like this Splashstone. Yes, their relationship was against the code, but we wouldn't be here otherwise. No one even knows we're half-clan. Why are you so scared all the time of it?" Larkpaw puffed out her chest, "Perhaps she'll make me or Juniperpaw her deputy! We'd help her with everything!" “Don’t you understand?” Splashstone asked miserably, bitterly. “We’re not supposed to be here! We weren’t supposed to ever be here! How can you not see that Starclan wouldn’t want us here if they uphold the code in the first place?” He bit out, nearly admitting his time in the Dark Forest, but holding it back. “D-deputy? I...I’m not sure if I...” Juniperpaw jumped at the thought, a sudden nervousness filling her. Luckily, Stonepath cut in just then with a humored snort. “You’ll have to gain your names and mentor an apprentice first.”

Sandfall flicked his tail, caught off-gaurd by her sudden shyness. "I'm good, just delivering some prey. Isn't Eaglekit cute?" he mewed with a quiet purr. "I miss when Sagefoot's kits were young, I liked playing with them." Whispersong gave a light smile, “She is. I was just watching your conversation with her. I get the feeling she’s going to be a pawful.” She mewed.

Thorndash shook his pelt as he watched Cinderscar continue towards the nursery, excited to see his kits. The moor-runner couldn’t imagine how being cooped up in the nursery was ever ideal, but he did not say anything. Instead, he glanced around for clanmates to talk to.

After the clan meeting had finished, Ashsong had stood up and started towards the camp entrance, deciding to go on that hunt she had been planning on before Swiftstar had called the meeting. Spotting the she-cat leaving camp, Thorndash’s ears perked as he called out. “Hey! Ashsong! Wait up!” He padded towards her, blinking with a hint of pleading. “Please tell me you’re going hunting. Would I be able to join you?”

“I plan to retire to the Elder’s den.” Blacktail mewed, his voice light but also reluctant. “I considered staying a senior warrior, but my legs are becoming more sore each passing day when I have to tunnel or run. I think I can best serve now for advice and wisdom if anything. Windclan has only had one elder for so long...and even then, I am still older than her. My dear, do not feel you need to change anything for my sake. If you are still content as a Warrior, I want you to keep at it, and keep running on those moors. I can still go on walks and help on patrols if needed.” He explained. Slushfur let out a sigh. He was right, of course. "Always so wise." she teased lightly. "I don't think anything I could say would change your mind, so I will support your decision. You deserve rest anyway." she added. "But make sure you come out of that den often, you hear?" (Psst, Blazer)

I’m real tired) “I’ll come out of the den so much that you’ll never even know I was an elder.” Blacktail mewed lightly, pressing his muzzle warmly to Slushfur’s, grateful for his mate. He glanced at their kits, noticing how Cobblepaw seemed downcast. “They...seem less than delighted.” He sighed softly.

It's no problem!)
Slushfur glanced over at their kits. Gustpaw and Silverpaw were talking about Sagefoot taking over, but she could barely catch what they were saying. "I'm not surprised. If my father stepped down from deputy while I was an apprentice, I'd be pretty disappointed too. But they'll be fine once they realize you needed to do it." she said. "Maybe they'll start dreaming about being deputy like most apprentices do."

Jasmineheart's frown deepened, "But we didn't do anything wrong. We didn't break the warrior code. Would they really punish us for our parents mistakes?"
Larkpaw sighed dramatically, "Alright, well it could happen sometime! Oh Juniperpaw wouldn't it be so fun to train apprentices together in the future?"

Sandfall chuckled, "I believe it. I love playing with kits." he mewed wistfully. "I hope I can be a father someday, and be around for them like my father wasn't able to be."

"I just want them to be happy. I never want them to feel that they need to impress me, or that I am some ideal that's impossible to reach." Blacktail admitted, thinking of all those moons growing up where his mother and father had placed their quarrels and issues above their thoughts of how it would affect their sons. He had been scared to disappoint them. He never wanted that for his kits. "Perhaps we can ask them to show us all they've learned so far?"
"Great." Thorndash purred, more than happy to spend some time with his clanmate. It had been hard lately to truly talk to anyone. Nettlefrost's deaths still stung sharply in his chest, and he suddenly found himself swallowing, thinking of Ashsong's own losses. He padded out of camp after her, asking after a long moment. "Do...you think she's out there? That she'll ever try to come back?..." He trailed off, thinking of Meadowbrook with a grimace, but knowing it must have been hard for Ashsong to know her little sister had been harboring such...darkness.
"Look at the fire. Look at how it ravaged everything. What's to say that wasn't a sign for something worse? So many cats have broken the codes, maybe Starclan has finally had enough." Splashstone's tail lashed sharply, nervously, as he continued in a hushed voice. "I just..." He trailed off, suddenly looking exhausted and saddened. "I just...don't know what to do. I want to think that everything will be okay, but it won't be..."
"Now, that does sound fun." Juniperpaw brightened at the thought of one day teaching an apprentice all the neat stuff Birchstep was teaching her. "We would have to make sure to teach them not to fall into a tunnel hole on the moors." She teased.

Ashsong flicked her ear and glanced over at Thorndash, “Meadowbrook? It’s hard to say honestly.” She said with a slight shrug, “I doubt she will. She was different when she left, I hardly recognized her when she admitted to everything she had done and the way she looked when she did. She was proud for what she had done.” Ashsong sighed, feeling a pang of sadness. She should’ve done something, should’ve noticed something was wrong with her younger sister. “I can’t help but feel as if I failed her somehow.” She murmured, mostly to herself.
Whispersong blinked at Sandfall, “I’m sure you’ll be a wonderful father one day.” She mewed, feeling her fur warm slightly. She had to admit that she had enjoyed spending more time with Sandfall and had developed a small crush on the tom.

He didn't know if he was alright, but he had to be...but surely this was something he could discuss with his new deputy? "I still have a bit of smoke in my lungs from the fire, that's all." He said, trying to look reassuring. "I've been meaning to speak with Eclipsesky but something more important always seems to come up. Silverspirit nodded. "If they haven't already. From what I heard at the last gathering Cherryvine should be having them any day now if she hasn't already." she glanced down at her paws. "I can't imagine ever having to live with your kin and have to hide it. It's bad enough having to hide it around Cloudscar and he's in a whole different camp."

Jasmineheart nervously moved closer to her brother, pressing against him. "It was really scary I know Splashstone, and losing mother was hard. But, at the same time I know I can't live in fear for the rest of my life about what might happen. Mother taught us to be brave, proud warriors of Windclan. I want to fight head-on for our clan regardless of what comes next. Starclan always wins and their our ancestors! I can't imagine them giving up on all their kin still here. Don't you think Eclipsesky and Dawnshadow would know if Starclan gave up? Don't you think they would have told the clan?"
Larkpaw giggled, lightly pawing at her sister's ear. "Well teach them how to be moles too."

Sagefoot gave the leader a nod but didn't look convinced, "Well you should probably do that soon, the next gathering is coming up. I'm sure you don't want to appear sick while in front of the other clans."
Eclipsesky sighed, "I know we have our own alliances and clan borders but to me, they're rather stupid. Who cares if you love someone from a different clan. But, I suppose that's the medicine cat in me. We don't see borders."

Silverspirit saw the leader approaching and flicked her ear to signal the end of their conversation. "well I'm glad herbs are starting to grow back." She sais, not wanting the leader to know they had been talking about her father.

Swiftstar didn't notice the rapid change in topic from his clanmates, but instead he turned to Eclipsesky. "May I speak to you for a moment, in private?" He cast a glance to Silverspirit. "I apologize for interrupting your conversation, I hope it wasn't too important."
Silverspirit dipped her head to the WindClan leader. "Of course Swiftstar, Eclipsesky and I were just chatting." She stood, and padded a few steps away before bounding over to Sagefoot. "Hey!! Congratulations!" She said, clearly enthused for her sister.

What if we never see her again?” He mourned. “Do you think that we’ll be able to show them all the tunnels like second nature by then? There’s so much to remember...” Juniperpaw fretted.

Jasmineheart flattened her ears, she had never thought about the possibility that their mother would not be waiting for them in Starclan, the gentle she-cat let out a whimper. "There are no borders in Starclan though right? I know she broke the code, but she and father aren't even mates! That must count for something... right?"
