"Dawnkit." Harewhisker purred and smiled at the little She-kit. "It's perfect." Dashclaw flushed a little at her suggestion. "Heh heh, either words for me." Frostpetal purred, pleased that her mate liked the name she had picked. "Do you want to name the tom? He looks the most like you after all."

Dashclaw chuckled. "I did, actually. My mentor was a hard one to beat! However, I was put in my place when I raced Cheetahheart afterwards. I guess I got too cocky and she knocked me down a couple sizes." He finished with a fond chuckle of the recent late she-cat.
"You want me too..." Harewhisker smiled softly when he looked back at his mate. He turned his gaze to the young tom and a purr rumbled from his throat. "I actually did think of a name a few days ago that I thought would be a good one. What do you think of Beankit?"

Frostpetal purred and touched the tom kit's head with her tail. "Beankit....it's perfect." she turned back to Harewhisker and licked his cheek. "Beankit and Dawnkit...our kits."

"They're beautiful." Harewhisker nuzzled against his mate. "I couldn't ask for anything more."

Frostpetal purred and nuzzled her mate, suddenly feeling exhausted from all the excitement. "Nor..." she yawned. "Could I"

Harewhisker purred softly when she began to yawn. He settled down beside her. "You should get some rest. I'll watch over you."

Grasslight’s eyes grew softly dim at the mention of Cheetahheart, sadness filling her as she sighed softly. “I miss her...I really do. She was what every moor-runner wanted to be. I thought she would be leader one day, I truly did.” Geasslight admitted, still stunned that such a strong cat could die in such a way.

Frostpetal purred, to tired from having their kits and their argument to protest. Yawning, she set her head down so it was partially on her front paw and partially on Harewhisker's. "I love you you know." She said softly, feeling tiredness pull on her eyelids.

Dashclaw twitched his whiskers in amused thought. "CHeetahheart as leader?" He gave a lighthearted huff. "I suppose if you want to get snapped at all the time." He nodded softly. "I miss her though. She was the best of us."
Harewhisker's ears tilted back at her words and a warmth filled his heart. She didn't know how relieved he was to hear her say that. "I always love you, Frostpetal," he said softly and he quietly groomed her pelt.

She took things seriously.” Grasslight hummed with thought, thinking of the now passed she-cat. Her stomach curled as she swallowed. “I still can’t believe Meadowbrook betrayed us like that...”

Dashclaw pressed his nose to his mate's cheek. "She made it known she didn't belong here. To cause conflict between moor runners and tunnelers. That isn't who WindClan is"

Dashclaw pressed his nose to his mate's cheek. "She made it known she didn't belong here. To cause conflict between moor runners and tunnelers. That isn't who WindClan is" “Isn’t it?...” Grasslight looked guilty for a moment, her eyes falling even in the comfort of her mate. “Isn’t that what drove your family apart? It drove mine apart too...She was cruel and hateful, to kill clanmates...but something had to have driven that anger. What if it happens again? A kit grows up thinking that half the clan looks down on them? We say we all support eachother but...do we do it equally?” She wondered.

Dashclaw flattened his ears and looked away at the thought of his family. He had been trying to help make amends between the tunnelers and the moor-runners in the Clan by becoming a tunneler himself. Swiftstar took that opportunity away from me, he thought bitterly. How was he supposed to earn Rabbitdash's and Harewhisker's approval if he couldn't become a tunneler like them? He would've thought that Swiftstar wanted tunnelers and moor-runners to remain divided if it weren't for the fact that the young leader took Dashclaw's advice for him to train in tunneling. Dashclaw flicked his tail. "I certainly tried." He didn't have the words to properly reassure his mate. Harewhisker made his feelings about moor-runners pretty clear after all. "I thought I could help ease the tension by becoming a tunneler, but now I don't know how I can help."

She looked at her mate, green eyes gleaming with affection as she continued. “I think...maybe you’ve got this idea that you owe it to your family to be something that they want you to be. But, they owe it just as much to you to understand that what you want with your life is important too. Some cats just...I dunno. I guess they’ll never be pleased. You’ve extended your paws in every way I can think of. Maybe this time it’s on your brother to decide what’s more important. His pride, or his own brother.” She rumbled.

"I didn't want to lose him too..." “He’s the one that loses anything, if he can’t see what a dedicated, hardworking and important cat you are...I don’t want you to lose him too, but I don’t want you to lose yourself either. You deserve better than that.” She blinked, before she pressed close to him. “But, whatever you choose to do, I’ll support you. I’ll even talk to Frostpetal if you like.”

Dashclaw leaned in closer to Grasslight and licked her ear. If he let Harewhisker go, he would've lost all his family. First, his mother disappeared from the Clan, then his father disapproved him all his life. Harewhisker was the only one left and Dashclaw wasn't even sure Harewhisker listened to Frostpetal half the time. "I appreciate that, but I don't think it would do any good."

She purred at his ministrations.

Dashclaw snorted and lightly shook his head. "I'm not so sure about that. He loves those tunnels more than anything. He'd probably be born a rabbit if he wasn't born a cat."

((Post gathering post))
Swiftstar padded back into camp, tail flicking thoughtfully behind him as he did so. He had been uncharacteristically silent the entire journey back from Fourtrees.

Fallowmeadow slipped through the crowd, moving towards her mate to press against him. "Are you alright?" she mewed quietly. "You've been rather quiet all night."
Eclipesesky yawned, tapping his tail on Silverspirit's shoulder before heading towards his nest to settle down for the night.
Larkpaw trudged towards her nest, the little apprentice was more tired than she had ever been.

Swiftstar glanced back to Fallowmeadow. "I'm torn." he said thoughtfully, thankful that he had his mate near him. She always had been his best friend, and it was always so easy to talk to her without feeling the pressures of leader weighing on his shoulders. "What do you think about what happened at the gathering?" He refrained from telling her his own point of view, wanting to hear hers first. He padded back towards the leaders den as he walked.
Silverspirit glanced over to Eclipsesky and gave him a soft smile as they parted ways.

Fallowmeadow padded beside them as they headed for his den, settling down beside him once they reached his nest. She sighed "I feel conflicted as well. Shadowclan was obviously hurt the most by the fire and we would have suffered greatly if it weren't for their warning. They must be desperate for prey, but that doesn't mean that leaf-bare will not be difficult for all of us. I suppose we are lucky, we could always move to hunt near high stones if we must. The other clans though don't have any extra territory to use."

Swiftstar nodded. "My thoughts as well." He said. "Even Highstones might require a half a day's journey once a patrol gets out there, hunts and comes back, and like Lightningstar pointed out the whole forest burned down, not just ShadowClan's territory..." He paused for a moment "But that being said, WindClan probably would get no use out of Fourtrees since it's so wooded....the principle just seems wrong. We're all suffering, but ShadowClan is the only clan that gets extra territory?"

Fallowmeadow sighed, "It is not fair, you are right. But as long as Cedarstar relinquishes it in new-leaf once we have healed some. I suppose it is alright for now. We are in debt to him, and perhaps if this is considered repaying the debt, he can't ask us to assist him in the future for something more dangerous. We are not risking our warriors in battle with this fight, we are simply aiding Shadowclan in feeding their clan by doing almost nothing." she mewed, resting her head on his shoulders for comfort. "Can you imagine the toll it would take on our clan if we lost more than 20 warriors? We'd have no one left to hunt or tunnel. We must take pity on Shadowclan for the time being."

Swiftstar sighed and licked his mate's cheek. "I suppose you're right Fallowmeadow" he said, wrapping his tail around the two of them. "Though I hope the clan does not see me as weak for allowing them to stay." he paused as she continued on. "No, I can't imagine losing 20 warriors like that, though I suspect Cedarstar wants nothing to do with pity."

Fallowmeadow snorted, "Cedarstar using pity? I think he'd rather waste all nine of his lives before he accepted pity. After all he came to the gathering like.. that. I do not think the clan will see you as weak. You did very well leading us out of the fire and dealing with Meadowbrook, the feud between the tunnelers and moor runners is diminished. We are all on your side now Swiftstar. I know you don't always feel like the best leader, but you're doing all you can for the clan and we can all see it." she replied genuinely, nuzzling against him. "I for one, will always be proud of you." she finished with a smile.

Swiftstar glanced over at Fallowmeadow, smiling softly as she spoke. "Well that's good to hear." He said, purring himself now. "We'd have bigger problems if you decided I wasn't fit to be leader anymore." he nudged her lightly. "now get some sleep." He said softly "We can blather about ShadowClan another day."
