Nah, I feel the same way. I feel like had Pinestar stayed, he would have gone as insane as Bluestar at the end of her life... and the clan didn't need that, especially regarding their reputation with the rest of the clans. And as much as it was sad that he left his kids behind... he would have probably been a terrible father had he stayed, let alone probably would have been a pretty bad example for Tigerstar.
Pinestar wasn't just being lazy- he had grown to hate the clan system, gotten sick of the rivalries and needless bloodshed, and had no motivation to be a warrior left. And I can't say I blame him.

I agree that leaving was a good thing for him to do. Like the whole Clan was shocked, minus Goosefeather (I think?) so I don't think they would have wanted him as a leader anymore. Had he remained leader, I think Sunfall would have had to basically do a lot more, sort of like Fireheart with Bluestar, and Pinestar would just be lazy kind of.
I totally think he should have had to give back his last life to StarClan to give to Sunstar!! That makes me annoyed that Sunstar had to suffer without an extra life just because of what Pinestar did. Same with Nightstar after Brokenstar. He should have been given all 9.
Besides all this, I do still like Pinestar and think he is ok.

I actually agree. Like Lionpaw(heart) said, why have a leader who no longer wishes to lead? Pinestar had lived for a long time and was sick of Clan life in general, and watching his Clanmates die one after another couldn't have helped. Moonflower's death was probably the last straw for him and he did leave his Clan in good paws with Sunstar.

I don't blame him for leaving. Why have a leader that doesn't want to lead? I do wish he went to the moonstone and returned his 9th life in exchange for his regular life, though. I also kind of wish he stayed an elder until Tigerstar was a warrior, but the toms didn't really look after the kits at that time, so that doesn't really matter.

I don't blame him for leaving when he doesn't want lead, but I don't like how he did it. He abandoned his family, and shaped his son's horrible ambitions. And on top of that, the way he did it made his Clan look down on him, and further think of him as weak. However, Bluestar shows what happens when a leader decides to lead regardless of their feelings or capacities, and what a disaster that can bring (same thing with Onestar, recently). I think the best thing for him would have been to step down and become an elder, or return his life, like others said. That would have left a better impression on the Clan, and even though he would still be in their lives, at least Pinestar wouldn't have the burden of leadership...
As for Nightstar not receiving his 9 lives, there's a difference in that case. The warrior code states it's fine for a leader to retire, which is effectively what Pinestar did (even though he did so as a kittypet). Brokenstar, on the other hand, was driven out, and the Code states that a deputy can only succeed a leader when they die or retire. Being driven out fits neither definition, so of course, Starclan couldn't accept it.

While I do think it was kind of cowardly of him that he would just have left his Clan in secret if Lionpaw hadn't told him to at least announce it, I agree that he did the right thing in leaving instead of risk leading his clan half-heartedly
