So, Hollyleaf is one of my favorite warrior cats. She killed Ashfur, but a good reason. If he had revealed the secret himself, fighting could have broken out between WindClan and ThunderClan. But what Hollyleaf did was good, in my opinion. Plus, she spent her whole life trying to follow the warrior code. Hollyleaf is a pawsome cat, (hah cat puns) in my opinion. Also, she helped the Clans fight WindClan in a tunell!

I don't think a fight would have occurred as Crowfeather wouldn't take any claim on his kits and wouldn't acknowledge them as so. hollyleaf killed him to keep a secret and the reputation of her Clan, who are already infamous for being mix blood, so killing him on that reasoning was pointless to me

Hollyleaf had her flaws, but I liked her because of that. She was intelligent cunning, a real thinker, but was also a the most sensitive of her siblings. She was obsessed with the warrior code, but notice how this doesn't really start until after Dark River when she realizes she has to break off her friendship with Willowshine after witnessing how much damage Lionpaw's friendship with Heatherpaw caused. She was against it from the start, but it seemed like she didn't quite understand the consequences until afterwards and this grew into an obsession to the warrior code as she got older. When she found out the truth about her heritage, she snapped. She killed Ashfur to preserve the secret and realized it was all for nothing when she found out that Leafpool was her mother. She no longer cared for the code by that point and just wanted to see Squirrelflight and Leafpool punished.
Also, I don't think Ashfur telling the secret would've caused a war between ThunderClan and WindClan. For one, the kits had already received their full names and Crowfeather didn't want anything to do with them even when he found out the truth when he did. In fact, it isn't until The Last Hope where he even acknowledges them as his kits.

Clan feud.

Hollyleaf is one of the best developed characters in warriors.
She is majorly flawed, but has good intentions, and I noticed that people like that kind of characters. She killed Ashfur for basically nothing, yes, but like Vicky said, she always clinged to the code, and Leafpool was still living a normal life without punishment, so she attempted to take justice into her own hands - or rather, paws. She then ended up emabarrassing her Clan. Then, she died protectingit, and after all, forgiving Leafpool and Squirrelflight along with her siblings, not only proving loyality, but also showing great redeeming qualities.
Honestly, I think the authors wanted us to hate Hollyleaf. Neither Kate or Vicky like her, so it's a pretty safe bet I'd say. This is one of the things Erins fail miserably at.
