Blame Trumpstar. It's all his fault. He wanted Dovewing to have kits so he told everyone in the Clan to pressure her until she says yes.

While I find it unsavory and whatnot, I can see the point coming from the Clans perspective. Kits are how they continue on with their life, being warriors, etc. Kits and Queens are a crucial way for the Clan being the way they are. So, while not every she-cat has to have kits, it is part of a clan cat's duty to further the population of their clan otherwise they would die out.
The idea that having children is a duty required from us is horrifying considering we live in a society where that's not needed. But if you go to other cultures and societies and subcultures, having children is necessary for the survival of the culture and society. So, it's not particularly cringeworthy to them.
I mean, I doubt the Erins had this in mind, but sociologically there is a duty in cultures and societies to procreate, but how pressured there is depends on the culture.
e.g. I have a friend who is a Mennonite and believes in headship (aka a hierarchy that goes God, Angels, Husband, Wife) and that the husband should be the one doing the speaking/etc. But she also believes that the wife is a crucial part of keeping everything together, advising her husband, and supporting. If the husband is the head, the wife is the neck which makes the head able to function. We might balk at those roles but to her and her culture it's not considered being 'lesser than' but that they have different roles of equal importance.
